I still have my 92' ext cab 5.7l v8 that i bought as my first vehicle in 2001 at the age of 16. It was my only vehicle until 2013 when i picked up a 2004 Honda Accord 4cyl to commute with. It's a 31yr old truck now and in the 22 years I've owned it the only parts i replaced were the...starter, fuel filter, water pump, wiper motors (damn trees dropping sap), radiator hose/cap and shocks. That's it! Other than routine maintenance like oil changes every 5-8k miles and brake pads here and there. Upgraded my exhaust and cat early on and it still passes smog today lol. Beat the hell out of it as a youngster and it took the abuse and kept on going. Best truck ever. It was also the perfect vehicle to learn how to work on yourself. Had offers to sell it when i really needed the money but always found a way to keep it. I'll have this truck forever.

My first car was a 1978 Dodge diplomat with the three 18 in.³ engine before I finally got rid of it. 10 years later it had over 2,000,000 miles on it. of course the normal we tear stuff had to be replaced starters alternators, etc. etc. have the transmission rebuilt twice rear end new gears but other than that ran like a charm. I drive a 1995 Chevy C1500 1/2 ton extended cab with a manual transmission. I drive this truck by choice I don't drive it because I'm forced to. I could drive a brand new Dodge Cummins mega ram if I choose to I choose this truck because it's cheap to work on has all the power I need and if I choose to I could drive to Barstow California or Nome Alaska from Texas and not even worried about taking pliers cuz I know it's not going to break down! I believe from 1987 to 1998 was the height of Chevys engineering and manufacturing. It is all going downhill since then I wouldn't have brand new Chevy pickup if he gave the damn thing to me!

How about the small Blazer? I had a 96 LT with all the toys. Love that Vortex V6 never had a problem. Change the oil every 6,000 miles with GM oil filter and Mobil 1 oil. Change the trans filter and fluid ever 30,000 . I sold that Blazer with 350,000 miles. Because of some minor rust issues and the y-pipe bolts rusted and pipe split at the y part could not replace it. I missed that truck. I personally believe Chevy trucks from 92-99 where the best. The news ones today are all computers and sensors and built quality control issues. They look great and that's it. Thanks Scotty!!! 🇺🇸🐻🇺🇸
