I had a lot of fun with this film as well. IT was cool to see a show you follow for so long on the big screen again! Mad fluttershy didnt get much airtime though lol
JaxBlade: So did I, man. And believe it or not, this is actually my guilty pleasure because for all of their songs, I played air guitar. So yes, I was rocking out with My Little Pony. Long Live Rock And Roll, baby.
Seen it twice now. Probably my favorite animated movie of this year so far. Got a lot of nostalgia from this movie and reminded me of how I got into this show in the first place.
I thought the movie was pretty damn good. My only gripes were the story (it's pretty by the numbers), the fast pacing, and the lack of Storm King until the third act. But those are minor problems in the long run. I really enjoyed the animation, music, characters (both old and new), and world building. Can't wait to see if they integrate any of the new characters, species, or locations into the show itself.
Sketch Media yeah I definitely hope they integrate some elements from the movie into the show. And honestly the plot and pacing didn't. bother me personally since while the story is pretty basic it's pretty unique. Felt like parallels to The first Spongebob Movie in terms of both
I loved the movie. Everything about it has cameos( including Derpy's heroic event), songs( including we got this together reminds me a lot like another day of sun from la la land), and the invasion( which reminds me a lot like super Mario bros U). Storm king, I have a theory that the staff who brought everypony from stone might bring him back to life. Over all reference after reference after reference, it's not a rip off, its pure genius. Overall, I technically enjoyed this movie. Especially with tempest shadow she is a lot better than starlight glimmer.
Some of the plot twists really surprised me. Like the Hippogriffs being the sea ponies and ect. I honestly really like how they delt with new characters compare to some movies who like to shove new characters down your throat. And the character arc for Twilight was honestly perfect in my opinion. Never thought she would react like that in the movie.
Went to go watch the movie as a former fan of the show, and was left completely satisfied and impressed. I can't really come up with any flaws aside that the plot was a tad cliche, fast-paced, and could confuse people who don't know much about the show. Storm King was also left with much to be desired. Once the plot picks up the pace, then it starts to become enjoyable and apparent that this is not an episode/over-glorified toy commercial. I felt I was going to shed a tear out, quite frankly. Very nostalgic stuff indeed. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. I still encourage everyone to have an open mind, and give the movie a try. It might surprise you; it certainly surprised me. Animation was on point, too. Fantastic job to all the people involved with the movie, and actors/actresses. 8.5/10 at most. Nothing revolutionary, but completely welcome as a movie. Not only will I watch the movie again with different people, but I also have a small urge to get into the show again.
Now is definitely the time to get back into the show because season 7 has had a lot of great episodes. It's refreshing after season 6 was kind of lackluster imo.
I really enjoyed this movie! I saw it yesterday and I did get a little bit emotional because I would have never thought I would see these characters on the big screen. Open Up Your Eyes has to be one of my favorite songs from the movie and two of my favorite parts were (SPOILERS!) Fluttershy's therapy scene and Tempest Shadow revealing her real name
My brony friend took me to see it and even though I'm not a brony, I still was curious. I know the character names and setup so I wasn't too lost and even though I was expecting to not like it, I slowly began to really enjoy but for a strange reason. The way that the story is structure was very similar to the old classic nostalgic movies that I grew up with, the way they travel to one cool location, sing a song, and move on to the next while the previous events come into play later on. It's hard for me to fully explain but it was very welcome and I would easily give it a thumbs up.
I enjoyed seeing this movie with one my friend's named Lily, her brother, and her mother. We were squealing any time their was a cameo or a song. It was great!
Fun Story: MLP Friendships is Magic The Movie > Blade Runner 2049. I was anticipated in both of these film's (They both came out same date scheduled), but since I'm a fan of pony's I pick this one. WORTH IT!
I saw this movie in the theater with my Mom on Pre-Opening night, and we had lots of fun watching it. EDIT: I want to explain my thoughts on the movie with as much details as possible. I thought the story was basic, but in a good way, it's not one of the best plots in film history, but it works. I also think that the characters are very well represented as well as they were in the show, the new characters are also amazing, my favorite new character from this movie is Tempest, she is a pretty complex character with a compelling back story, Capper is also an amazing character, I love how he is street smart, and manipulates other people, Captain Celaeno is also a well written character, she is a fun character, and I love how she and her crew were willing to risk their lives for the Mane Six, I also think she has a beautiful design.(Hey, what can I say, I'm a guy.) I don't have much to say about the other pirates, I do think they're fun characters, but I don't think they're as compelling as the others are. The Storm King is a fun, silly, campy villain, but I wished he had some more screen time. I love his design, and the concept of his character, where he's supposed to be a villain who ruled his land with an iron fist of fury, while having a silly personality, so I did feel he was a bit of a let down, but not too much. I love the music, they are just so catchy, my favorite of the songs is 'Open Up Your Eyes', it's just a song I found myself listening to over and over again. One last thing I want to talk about before I give my verdict, I know that people are comparing this movie to some classic Disney movies, due to its animation style, tone, and musical numbers, but I think that there are some things about this movie that are necessary to compare to Star Wars. For starters, doesn't the scenery of the inside of Tempest's ship look kind of familiar to the scenery where Han Solo was frozen in Carbonite. The one comparison I've been doing a lot should be interesting, I do compare Tempest Shadow to Darth Vader. If you think about it, Tempest and Vader are more similar than how they look. Tempest started off as a ordinary pony who always had fun with her friends, but after losing her horn, and being shutten out by her friends, she turns evil and joins the Storm King, kind of like how Darth Vader started as a Jedi who had always been fighting on their side, turns to the Dark Side after being corrupted by Emperor Palpatine. After knowing the truth about Tempest Shadow, Twilight tries to convince her that what she is doing is wrong, and must put an end to the Storm King's scheme, and must be reformed. Kind of like how Luke Skywalker tries to bring Darth Vader back to the good side, after learning the truth of him. Towards the end of the climax, they redeem themselves, after sacrificing themselves to save the protagonists, and killing off the big bady. Lastly is their real names, Tempest Shadow's real name is(spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie yet)Fizzlepop Berrytwist, and Darth Vader's real name is Anakin Skywalker. They were given their alternate names by the big bady. Overall I love this movie. I gave it a 9.5/10, because as much as I love it, I don't necessarily think it's a masterpiece. For those who read my previous comment, and are wondering what is my Mother's rating for it, she gave it a 8/10. I hope that anyone who has read this comment enjoyed hearing my thoughts on it.
I loved the movie and also the fact that a bunch of parents probably did their homework because I'm three theater I went to they actually encouraged their kids to come up and talk to us about the movie. It was just adorable and a good time
I saw this movie last week and I am glad you gave a short "I enjoyed it" review. Other reviews were longer, OK, and didn't meet the level of greatness about the movie as I hoped. Like!
The only major issues I had with the film were the pacing, which was a little quick in some moments, and the villains, who felt either generic or underdeveloped. Aside from that, I had a really good time watching this movie. Or as Pinkie Pie would say, "it filled my heart up with sunshine, sunshine!" By the way, what did you think of that Hanazuki short that played before the movie?
Hanazuki seemed to me a waste of time that I couldn't connect with at all. Maybe if I was familiar with it, it would mean something. Sort of what he mentions about the MLP movie itself; as a long time fan I loved this movie more than anything I've seen in years, but an outsider without an investment in the pony universe might not care about it at all.
I really enjoyed the movie. And yes, I agree that the first song was really emotional. I got into the fandom in April 2012. I was about in 7th grade. I remember the first thing I did was listen to "Smile" from season 2. And from 13 year old me to an 18 year old college student, I can honestly say - wow. I was very hooked on through the movie. Tempest really did scare me a bit and that's good because that means Emily Blunt did amazing as her. The songs were catchy all the way. My favorites would have to say "We Got This Together", "Time to Be Awesome", and "One Small Thing". I believe this has really inspired me to really focus on my animation skills in the near future, because holy hell I almost drooled looking at it. I think officially cried when Twilight cried and near the end. I know I'm a cheesy person but this was a very great movie. And yes, I also agree that the Storm King could've gotten more screen time but even make me laugh so I was fine. I have for them to at least see a sequel perhaps? Whether or not that happens, this has to be a success for the 4th generation's franchise and a beautiful masterpiece after 31 years of the original. ❤😭😁
0:48 To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand My Little Pony. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Twilight’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike My Little Pony truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Twilight’s existential catchphrase “Friendship is magic,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a My Little Pony tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
Just watched the film and I had so much fun! One of my favorite scenes was the wind mill scene and the hot air balloon scene those kick ass. Also spike comforting twilight after her fight with pinkie was sweet loved it. It was a a short line, but I loved it. One of my favorite spike moments(bonus him setting one of the captors on fire to try to save twilight). Over all good movie!
I saw this movie when it was my little sisters birthday yesterday, I thought it was good, though I feel like Twilight, Spike, and Pinkie were focused more than the other main characters.
Have seen it 3x's now and loved every single moment of it! First time in awhile I have smiled while watching a film and that hasn't happened since Wreck-It Ralph. Plan to see it more and support the wonderful people behind it 👍🏻👍🏻
It was good, but I thought Rainbow Rocks was better. I even rewatched Rainbow Rocks two days after seeing the MLP movie to see if that was just nostalgia, but my opinion still stands. Though the animation looks so dated compared the this movie's.
I think the best way to expand on the storm king would have been simple. Sparkle in the rest of the princesses had their magic stored in the staff of sakonis Twilight just had to ask one question. Why are you doing this? Then the Storm King would respond in a sarcastic tone, why are you doing this? Afterwards he would change a harsher angrier tone. For power that's why! Now that I have it there is no need for you. Than we cut to him blasting Twilight out of the cage.
I completely agree with you that the movie really relies on you having seen the show. they could have spent a couple extra minutes introducing the mane 6 and the princesses and what they did throughout the show. that could have been accomplished in like 5 minutes if they just did the story book method like in the Shrek movies. Other than that I don't have too many complaints about it except they could have given the cmc a line or two. and Discord could have been there in the beginning and got turned to stone in an attempt to save fluttershy or something. and Starlight could have been shown with them and got left behind or captured in the beginning. Everything else was fine and just overall a fun movie and I'm glad to have seen a show I've followed for so long now get it's shot on the big screen.
Even Though i am not a Brony, I do respect you. Personally i find The Story extremely predictable. it's the tropes used before and again. I'm not going to watch this film just yet though.
Carl Bloke+ I meant story tropes from other films. First of. I have seen a little bit of the show but, I wouldn't watch the series in total. It's not my cup of tea and i can understand why The Show became sucessful for 2010s Children Programmes from this 4th Generation.
AstrosGamer+ I'll give the film a go next year. First off, I have heard stuff and seen ytps of MLP FIM. the show is not my cup of tea and the only thing that I hate about the current MLP is the people cosplays, cringy crossovers, Clopfest and Pony Mature content such as ( Mature Ponies on Devianart, Butt mooning and kinky themes) And I do not care for Equestria Girls at all.
I just saw the movie, and I agree with a lot of your thoughts. My only gripes were that, as much as I loved the songs, it just seemed like there were so many of them. (I believe there were like 3 within the first half hour?). Also, the lack of Storm King was kinda a letdown- kinda made him feel less like a formidable villain and more of a "final boss" of sorts. I do love his hamminess, though. Not an "awesome movie" but really enjoyable- with lots of adventure.
I saw it yesterday, it finally came out at Tea Tree Plaza's Hoyts cinema. Though it did feel a bit weird when I went in because, counting myself, there were only 5 people seeing the movie; an elderly couple, a mother and her maybe 6 year old daughter and me. As for the movie itself, I loved it. Only real negative I had was when the rest of the Mane 6 left Twi on her own. Even with what had just happened, or maybe because of it, my only thoughts were "um, girls, did you not learn from A Canterlot Wedding? You all got upset with Twi and left her on her own and... and Tempest's captured her. Bravo, ponies. Bravo." Other than that I loved every minute of it
Chris Brasel For me, The Bye Bye Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul are the worst movies of the year. Transformers 5 and The Emoji Movie are not far behind though
The My Little Pony Movie is Awesome and I'd saw it with my girlfriend around the weekend of my birthday thus I'd think The My Little Pony Movie is The Best Animated Movie of the Year
Just got back from the cinema and really enjoyed the movie! It was cool seeing a lot of new characters and weird creatures. Especially Capper, who as an anthropomorphic cat, just felt the right kind of being out of place; if you know what I mean. The art style blew me away from the get-go because I didn't expect it at all to look like a comic book brought to life! But it's really true, if you've never watched the show you wouldn't get a lot of it. I guess I should get back to watching season 7. Season 6 was kinda meh imo, which is why haven't watched the show in months.
being a brony for like 5 yrs now, i LOVED the animation, music (daniel & the orchestra did great work, especially with "time to be awesome":)), and dialogue in this movie. pinkie was actually super vital to the plot, especially when twilight made the wrong decision with the hippogriffs, which was really cool to see. my only problem with the movie was the *pacing*. so many new characters and themes were introduced but the writers didn't flesh them out even though they had a lot of time to. also storm king was basically just if discord and tirek had a child, when he should've been something new. rly hoping for that bronies react though paleo!! hope race can deal with lionsgate to make it happen lol
Usually, when people make the argument that films like this aren't made to please the critics but the fans, it's a pathetic excuse used to justify something that was made very poorly, blatantly flawed and frustrating to watch *coughSuicideSquadcough* That's not the case here. Unlike other films that came off as total crap with a bunch of butthurt fanboys defending it to death, this one actually felt like there was actual effort, passion and heart put into it. Not to mention, it was made by filmmakers who know what the hell they're doing. Granted, it's not perfect but man did I have a blast watching it. It was just great fun.
Yeah, I feel exactly the same way. It would be more universally approved if they just added more time to fixate the characters motives and world laws for those who aren't into the show. You really need to know the backstory to keep up with the flow of the movie.
Glad that I watched the movie, only real problem was the Storm King. I absolutely hate man-child characters, and the only goal of the Storm King was to have a new toy to play with. Just having Tempest as the only villain would have made the movie more engaging and less ridiculous as her motivation to regain her horn is enough of a plot. If anything, it would've been great to use a character similar to Tirek.
I liked the movie, though it certainly had its flaws. Capper's song I hated and I feel like problems that come up between Twilight and the other 5 have been tackled before in the series. Overall, its a 3 out of 5 for me. Good review.
saw it Monday going again Wednesday to see it with my bf's mom too, love the movie (slight problem with how slim the hippogriff's are but mhh its a artist choice they made i just think they looked weirdly thin)
+linakorig9 I really don't like my little pony but if he likes it .It's his opinion.Paleosteno can you do a top cartoons that you hate that everyone loves
Hey (hey) I'm your life I'm the one who takes you there Hey (hey) I'm your life I'm the one who cares They (they) They betray I'm your only true friend now They (they) They'll betray I'm forever there I'm your dream, make you real I'm your eyes when you must steal I'm your pain when you can't feel Sad but true I'm your dream, mind astray I'm your eyes while you're away I'm your pain while you repay You know it's sad but true Sad but true You (you) You're my mask You're my cover, my shelter You (you) You're my mask You're the one who's blamed Do (do) Do my work Do my dirty work, scapegoat Do (do) Do my deeds For you're the one who's shamed I'm your dream, make you real I'm your eyes when you must steal I'm your pain when you can't feel Sad but true I'm your dream, mind astray I'm your eyes while you're away I'm your pain while you repay You know it's sad but true Sad but true I'm your dream I'm your eyes I'm your pain I'm your dream (I'm your dream) I'm your eyes (I'm your eyes) I'm your pain (I'm your pain) You know it's sad but true Hate (hate) I'm your hate I'm your hate when you want love Pay (pay) Pay the price Pay, for nothing's fair Hey (hey) I'm your life I'm the one who took you there Hey (hey) I'm your life And I no longer care I'm your dream, make you real I'm your eyes when you must steal I'm your pain when you can't feel Sad but true I'm your truth, telling lies I'm your reason, alibis I'm inside, open your eyes I'm you Sad but true
1:06 Paleo: for the fans me:..........if this movie was for us then why did they left out discord, starlight & other characters from the show? this movie was not for us because it seem like a kid's movie & I seen the show, the show is for everybody to understand. plus fluttershy saying "yay" again feels like this was intended to non bronies who have seen the show & only remember the thing she use to say...."yay"..this movie should't be in theaters at all like norm of the north. i know everything what's wrong with this movie & did't watch it in theaters
If they really wanted to make a film that outside brony's could enjoy, they should have made a movie about Celestia's past. I'm just saying that she's an easy character to get the jist of from the show of her simple being the grand ruler but she's underdeveloped enough to where brony's can non brony's could get a fresh story out of the movie without being lost as to who the characters are.
to me The My Little Pony Movie is Awesome and it's made for the fans pretty much like how The SpongeBob Movies were made for the fans same with The Simpsons Movie was made for the Die-Hard Simpsons fans so people who might not like My Little Pony might not like The My Little Pony Movie But for the Bronies and Pegasisters they'll LOVE It
I agree it was amazing and to see all the background characters and just the bloody amazing animation I give it a 10/10 alsoI feel like I'm the only here knows that from the second world war that a type of airplane called a tempest fought for the allies and you know what just came to me that one of the main villain is what I think is named after a British airplane that help won the second world war how ironic
I'm am a MLP fan so it's nice to have a big screen adaptation for today's generation. But I find it sad to hear it was not done in mind to bring in new fans. A big screen movie shouldn't rely on just long term fans. Kind of see why it made under ten mill on it's initial U.S.A. outing. I plan to see the movie when it reaches Jamaica. Cool review. I wish Discord was in there though.
queendsheena1 just because a movie isn't meant for newcomers doesn't mean it fails. The Spongebob Movie wasn't meant for those who had a context for the show but that doesn't hinder the movie. Plus who said it didn't do well? It seems to be getting solid revenu
PaleoSteno, I don't care if you think that My Little Pony The Movie is for fans, because I really liked this film. Say what you will and do what you want, but I liked it more than The Princess And The Frog. (Playing "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue)
Having not seen it yet and just hearing general thoughts about it, I'm guessing it's a lot like the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers movie. Great for the fans and pretty much wasted on anyone who doesn't have the context of anything laid out to them properly. It's why I said the Power Rangers reboot is a *VASTLY* superior movie despite my nostalgia and love for the '95 movie, because it isn't just an extended episode of the show, it's a FULL STANDALONE STORY. I mean, it's not a bad thing to make a "for the fans" movie, but just be warned you're easily alienating people who weren't already fans in doing so. That's also why I think it's insulting that Samurai called its RPM crossover (with *ONE SINGLE RANGER*) a movie and Super Megaforce calling its extended cut of the finale that. Stop that, if they were movies, they'd at least seemingly heighten the budget or something.
My only issue with the movie is that I thought (SPOILERS) Twilight's moment where she got mad at Pinkie was too harsh, and it seemed to ignore how much Twilight has grown over the years. I feel like it could have been handled a little better. Besides that, it was a fun movie!
Cyber00 i think it fits, even if I did get really salty from the scene. You have to set up the situation in a clear light. Twilight just saw her mentors/princesses "die" right in front of her. She feels a lot of debt toward them and wants to make things right. Then comes the scene where they run into a trap almost being sold, and trust is already out the window. THEN, Rainbow Dash has to ruin everything with a sonic rain boom. She already is getting a little annoyed from this. After ALL THAT, they STILL want to stay a little with the sea ponies? They were nice but how would the mane 6 know that. Twilight was obviously getting fed up with them from the beginning (she rolls her eyes in Capper's song). So I think it fits. And the fact that she tries to apologize immediately shows that she said that not thinking rationally and only came to terms after she saw pinkie's face.
I've only read the first prequel comic (in a PDF), never got a chance to read the others. But as one TH-camr always says, "If I have to consult an external source just to understand the plot of something, that's bad story telling."
my little have nothing to do with the original show and contradicting to everything while having bad script starlight and discord would just wipe the whole empire from the face of the world and no one even bothered to explain why their op gm's girlfriend powers can't be used. or elements or where imperium ex machina even came from on the land with an actual GOD of sun and a GOD of moon. and everyone is out of character
I want to make another perfect example. You said the songs where pretty catchy. The people who loved the movie all said the same things. The songs where catchy. Just like you. But also Look an see how many people say Um. I didn't like the idea of the slavery or setting people on fire part of the movie for my kids. Check out how many reviewers skipped this. Especially the murder. Anyone talk about that? Nooo....
*Has not really seen the movie, but does know what it's about* Me: Such a mystery of how so many ppl hate this movie... *10 minutos later * Me: I have found the answer, ppl are just too "cool," for this SH*T!!!
as much as i had a good time this film is not amazing in the slightest. Grubber is only there to make food puns, Storm King was wasted in this movie, and many moments where very predictable.
haven't seen the show in a long time and i stopped watching years ago but when this movie came i wanted to go see it just to support 2d animation making some kind of come back to movies but sadly my place decided not to get it and i am not driving to the next town over to watch it ill see it when it comes out on dvd
3SE Seriously? I drove 20 miles to see it in the best theater I could find! Six times. And I'm pretty cheap and lazy. Did the same Blade Runner 2049. Go see it.
i cant drive and plus i dont care enough about mlp any more to go that far out of my way to see a movie about it. if it was here i would see it but its not so i cant.
you seriously expect me to bike over to the next town which is a good 20 30 miles away just to see a movie about a franchise i dont even keep up with any more also there are no trains in my area and the bus is just get around to town [keep in my mind i live in a shity little mountain town] ill see it when it comes out on dvd i have a surround sound system and a 52inch tv yes its not the movies but its the next best thing.
3SE Yup. Don't be weak. I know people that have gone an hour out of their way to go see it and went to go do it again for a second time. I have a gigantic plasma screen TV as well and regret not going to go see Toy Story 2 in theaters. Wish I could have been there for all of those amazing jokes. You'll regret it. Find somebody to go take you.
I am a huge fan of MLP, but I hate this movie. It's unoriginal and unfaithful to the show. While some people did a good job (art, animation, music) the most important part of the movie, the story, was a complete disappointment.
YTCommentor: You're a brony Paleo?
Paleo: You must be new here.
I had a lot of fun with this film as well. IT was cool to see a show you follow for so long on the big screen again! Mad fluttershy didnt get much airtime though lol
Agreed.
All she did was hide and say "yay", lol
I didn't know you liked ponies Jax.
A beefy black man posting about how much he enjoyed the My Little Pony the Movie?
We made it ladies and gentlemen
JaxBlade: So did I, man. And believe it or not, this is actually my guilty pleasure because for all of their songs, I played air guitar. So yes, I was rocking out with My Little Pony. Long Live Rock And Roll, baby.
Seen it twice now. Probably my favorite animated movie of this year so far. Got a lot of nostalgia from this movie and reminded me of how I got into this show in the first place.
I thought the movie was pretty damn good. My only gripes were the story (it's pretty by the numbers), the fast pacing, and the lack of Storm King until the third act. Sketch Media yeah I definitely hope they integrate some elements from the movie into the show. And honestly the plot and pacing didn't. bother me personally since while the story is pretty basic it's pretty unique. Felt like parallels to The first Spongebob Movie in terms of both
I was blown away by the visuals, they really captured Pinkie's insanity.
I saw the movie last night. It's currently my 3rd favourite animated movie of the year
Daniel Attrell what are the other 2?
Scabloonshki The Lego Batman Movie and Captain Underpants
I've watched it on theatre and it was my first time watching movie on theatre and let me tell you.... Those are some memories I will never forget....
Loved this movie so much, I saw it twice. "Open Up Your Eyes" is my favorite song on the soundtrack. ^^
Non-villain antagonist have that something special about their songs. All Hail Shadow is a great example of a character very well known.
Impus Tredecim My favorite was "Rainbow" by Songbird Serenade AKA Sia .
The movie was a lot fun. I plan to watch it again on my next paycheck. :p
This review was stellar! On point! And needs to have attention Immediately!

Now is definitely the time to get back into the show because season 7 has had a lot of great episodes. It's refreshing after season 6 was kind of lackluster imo.
PaleoSteno Thanks for the information, Paleo. I'll definitely take this into consideration!
Yeah This Season has been fantastic It makes me feel that the previous one could have been better
Dragon Carnivore you and paleo were on point! that's the spirit 😄
Dragon Carnivore I highly encourage you to watch the show again as things definitely get better at season 7
I knew Discord wouldn't appear in the movie, but I was waiting for him anyway 'cause I love his character. Nice review :)
I loved the movie. One of my favorite films of 2017.
Like!
I legit still remember your old OC and your criticism on the pinkie sense episode. God i feel old!
Hey Paleo, what did you think of the Hanazuki short that played before the movie?
0:39 If you know nothing about the show, why would you go to see it?
Congrats on your 200th review!
shy ramen yep
I saw it on opening day with my sister and her friend, and I loved every moment of the movie
I saw the movie at night, the day it was on theaters with my brother. I enjoyed the song sung by Frizzlepop Berrytwist.
good review.
Wait 8 Bit Eric watched a video on My Little Pony The Movie!?! You don't exactly seem to be the type to like the show or movie.
0:48
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand My Little Pony. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a My Little Pony tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
Adam Eason:
...
What?
The humor isn't subtle.
@@Remember_Bubblebutt It's a Rick and Morty ref
Just watched the film and I had so much fun! One of my favorite scenes was the wind mill scene and the hot air balloon scene those kick ass. Also spike comforting twilight after her fight with pinkie was sweet loved it. It was a a short line, but I loved it. One of my favorite spike moments(bonus him setting one of the captors on fire to try to save twilight). Over all good movie!
7/10 Decent movie. I waited since like 2011 for a MLP movie with ponies so i'm kinda just glad it exists xD
Plan to see it more and support the wonderful people behind it 👍🏻👍🏻
Great review Paleo, now it's time to sit back and wait for the Cwcki article on this
Lol
NoPony Special to be fair it made sense why there wasn't much explaining on the storm king since the movie was long enough as it is
Carl Bloke they could have made a short movie before the movie.
We saw it yesterday, and we loved it!
I saw it, and i enjoyed it, it gave the fuel to make an animation in SFM of Derpy rushing to save Twilight.
MLPDethDealr32 cool!
Even Though i am not a Brony, I do respect you. Personally i find The Story extremely predictable. it's the tropes used before and again. I'm not going to watch this film just yet though.
Chris 3687 have it your way but it's recommend to watch the first four seasons to get a better scope
Carl Bloke+ I meant story tropes from other films. First of. I have seen a little bit of the show but, I wouldn't watch the series in total. It's not my cup of tea and i can understand why The Show became sucessful for 2010s Children Programmes from this 4th Generation.
How can you judge it before seeing it?
Bravo."
Other than that I loved every minute of it
I had a great time with the MLP movie. But you know what was more fun? Cult of Chuckie. Everyone who's ever liked Child's Play should go see that too.
Here's my reaction to mlp the movie, "well that was surprisingly good not great but not the worst thing I saw this year, Transformers 5 anyone?!"
I'd say the Emoji movie was way worse than anything Michael Bay could come up with.
My question is why Transformers 5?
Chris Brasel For me, The Bye Bye Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul are the worst movies of the year. Transformers 5 and The Emoji Movie are not far behind though
That doesn't change the fact the emoji movie is the worst animated feature of 2017.
I saw My Little Pony The Movie it was awesome I enjoy the new characters the animation is great and the songs were awesome
I seen it. I thought it was amazing and I'm seeing it again.
I'm curious now. But I gotta catch up on them first. Oh boy...
Believe me It's worth to catch up the current Season well in one word WOW
I saw it it was amazing
being a brony for like 5 yrs now, i LOVED the animation, music (daniel & the orchestra did great work, especially with "time to be awesome":)), and dialogue in this movie. pinkie was actually super vital to the plot, especially when twilight made the wrong decision with the hippogriffs, which was really cool to see. my only problem with the movie was the *pacing*. so many new characters and themes were introduced but the writers didn't flesh them out even though they had a lot of time to.
also storm king was basically just if discord and tirek had a child, when he should've been something new.
rly hoping for that bronies react though paleo!! hope race can deal with lionsgate to make it happen lol
Thanks for spoiling it for me. The film only recently came out to theatres in my country and i haven't had the chance to see it.
AstrosGamer no offense but you're watching a review on the movie, what do you expect from the comments section?
Usually, when people make the argument that films like this aren't made to please the critics but the fans, it's a pathetic excuse used to justify something that was made very poorly, blatantly flawed and frustrating to watch *coughSuicideSquadcough*
That's not the case here.
Did you do one on the original 1986 version?
Yeah, I feel exactly the same way. It would be more universally approved if they just added more time to fixate the characters motives and world laws for those who aren't into the show. You really need to know the backstory to keep up with the flow of the movie.
Glad that I watched the movie, only real problem was the Storm King. I absolutely hate man-child characters, and the only goal of the Storm King was to have a new toy to play with.
Just having Tempest as the only villain would have made the movie more engaging and less ridiculous as her motivation to regain her horn is enough of a plot. If anything, it would've been great to use a character similar to Tirek.
dood hero's journey is kind of a term in storytelling and it means something else (not just the words it's made of)
I liked the movie, though it certainly had its flaws.
What about Flurry Heart?
I used to be a brony, and I will go see it for some odd reason
I'm not a Brony but you like what you like buddy .It's personal taste I guess .
Holy crap finally someone in the internet that understands!!!
+linakorig9 I really don't like my little pony but if he likes it .It's his opinion.Paleosteno can you do a top cartoons that you hate that everyone loves
We need more people like you in this world.
+Shooting Star are you all guys or something.I'm not interested in this stuff but you guys enjoy what you What enjoy
I wish Fluttershy and A.J. had some more screen time. Pinkie has a ton more of screen time.

You’re my favorite on Bronies react! That’s why I came and subscribed
Had fun with the movie, lots of easter eggs X3
Have you ever met Dave Polsky.
3rd best MLP movie next to 1.Rainbow Rock and 2.Friendship Games.
to me The My Little Pony Movie is Awesome and it's made for the fans pretty much like how The SpongeBob Movies were made for the fans same with The Simpsons Movie was made for the Die-Hard Simpsons fans so people who might not like My Little Pony might not like The My Little Pony Movie But for the Bronies and Pegasisters they'll LOVE It
I agree it was amazing and to see all the background characters and just the bloody amazing animation I give it a 10/10 alsoI feel like I'm the only here knows that from the second world war that a type of airplane called a tempest fought for the allies and you know what just came to me that one of the main villain is what I think is named after a British airplane that help won the second world war how ironic
I enjoyed it though I felt only Twilight, Pinkie, and Rainbow dash ever really did anything. I guess Rarity got Capper to lighten up.
why do i feel like ive met you before even though i just found out about your channal? what a stange feeling... MAKE IT GO AWAY!
This video never came up in my subscribed field..............
Yay I just put it up to 500 likes. Give this review more likes! It is one of the best I have seen on the movie yet!
Definitely an 8.5/10 for fans of the show. 6/10 for casual animation fans
I give it a 6 or a 7.
my little have nothing to do with the original show and contradicting to everything while having bad script
starlight and discord would just wipe the whole empire from the face of the world and no one even bothered to explain why their op gm's girlfriend powers can't be used. or elements
or where imperium ex machina even came from on the land with an actual GOD of sun and a GOD of moon.
and everyone is out of character
i saw it i liked to movie
Good luck to you all
Confirmed: Paleo cried.
i saw it and LOVED it :D
I want to make another perfect example. You said the songs where pretty catchy. The people who loved the movie all said the same things. The songs where catchy. Just like you. But also Look an see how many people say Um. I didn't like the idea of the slavery or setting people on fire part of the movie for my kids. Check out how many reviewers skipped this. Especially the murder. Anyone talk about that? Nooo....
*Has not really seen the movie, but does know what it's about*
Me: Such a mystery of how so many ppl hate this movie...
*10 minutos later *
Me: I have found the answer, ppl are just too "cool," for this SH*T!!!
Oh boy, I can't wait to see AniMat's opinion on this...
i could have seen the mlp movie or pokemon movie 20 (i'm a boyyyyyyy) i chose mlp becuz i could bring my friend
as much as i had a good time this film is not amazing in the slightest. Grubber is only there to make food puns, Storm King was wasted in this movie, and many moments where very predictable.
This movie is fantastic. I am a fan of the show.
haven't seen the show in a long time and i stopped watching years ago but when this movie
came i wanted to go see it just to support 2d animation making some kind of come back to movies but sadly my place decided not to get it and i am not driving to the next town over to watch it ill see it when it comes out on dvd
3SE
Seriously? I drove 20 miles to see it in the best theater I could find! Six times. And I'm pretty cheap and lazy. Did the same Blade Runner 2049. Go see it.
i cant drive and plus i dont care enough about mlp any more to go that far out of my way to see a movie about it.
if it was here i would see it but its not so i cant.
3SE
Train? Bike? Bus?
They got the same writer from Toy Story 2 and Mulan. You're missing out not seeing it on the big screen. It's a lot of fun.
you seriously expect me to bike over to the next town which is a good 20 30 miles away just to see a movie about a franchise i dont even keep up with any more also there are no trains in my area and the bus is just get around to town [keep in my mind i live in a shity little mountain town]
ill see it when it comes out on dvd i have a surround sound system and a 52inch tv yes its not the movies but its the next best thing.
3SE
Yup.
Z
I hate it
