PTSD from police misconduct/ victimization, many people, myself included, can relate to that. Local cops took pretty much everything I had. And, while attempting to get justice, you discover that lawyers and judges apparently also fear the cops. Keep those cameras rolling, people.
@Dr Will Kutchurkokov yes and they're are tons of mechanisms in place to protect those cops and go after the liars. But as you say, they're are two sides to every story, and a lot of cops lie, and far more look the other way when they're colleagues lie. There are not nearly as effective mechanisms in place to protect the victims of police misconduct and prosecute the police. For example, a recent study on exonerated people wrongly convicted of murder found that about half were victims of police perjury, and the police were punished (let alone prosecuted) only like 10% of the time. And that took an outside group to help them, the government refuses to. Prosecuting police for blatant misconduct is only now becoming commonplace, and they hate it and whine about it and send out siccophants to pointlessly bring up how sometime people do bad things to police, too. See the difference in relevance?

Big difference between what was going on back then and what’s happening in NYC and in other places today. Oppressed people don’t commit rape with impunity. Victims don’t randomly slash open strangers faces with knives and box cutters. People who are living in fear don’t pull guns and spray bullets with no regard for where those bullets are going or who they might hit. Armed robbery isn’t a byproduct of living in terror. I was a little kid in the 80’s. I have friends from all backgrounds and I’ve seen how the attitude on the streets have changed. What’s happening now is people are taking advantage of liberal talking points. They are using victim hood as an excuse to commit violent crime. NYC is the real victim. It’s been raped and left for dead by communists like Bill Deblasio (real name Warren Wilhelm/look it up.) Until people start accepting responsibility for their actions NYC and America will continue down a spiral straight to hell. I can only hope people wake up.

As “The Excitable Boy said. “I want to live all alone in the desert, I want to live like Georgia O’Keef. I want to live on the upper east side and never go down in the streets”
Brought a tear to my eye thinking of how isolated all the people who do this feel. There needs to be an app to unite us. Citizen was advertised to me during this video, and I thought, if every auditor had that they might be able to film these events in unity
Make sure you've got two cameras; one on the action, and another watching you. Because holding a camera can be like trying score a touchdown when they want it.
I totally understand being a little sad about not being known or thanked for all the good he's done which is why this video is great and long time coming, but tbf when you're policing the police anonymity can save your life so I think this is the best way, when it's all said and done and in a culture a lot more skeptical of the police this is the time he (and others like him, like the guy who recorded Rodney King and the people who filmed George Floyd and the many many others) should be honored, very important part(s) of true justice
If he wants to find a psychiatrist or a psychologist that understands then he must find one who is willing to listen to his life story for a couple months of sessions in grave detail and then go from there. P.S. But do not forget Clayton himself said that some cops are good and some are bad. He would film the bad ones to show the truth. And more power to him! This video is worth something at least. Excellent video. Real to the core.
Went to jail for not giving up his personal property, the reason they wanted it , they had done wrong. We live in a scary time .... sometimes having access to everything isn't so bad. People or law enforcement can't hide as well anymore.
If cops are so innocent you would think they would want to prove they are in a proper manner and would want to filmed 24/7 to prove they are policing properly. Seems most cops dont want that I wonder why?!?!
You are truly a beautiful and amazing man .thank you for your calling with the camera and recorder .You are a real American Icon . May the camera always let you see .❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It should be mandatory for cops to wear body cams while on duty; have all live feeds recorded. 🙄 The same should be done with our politicians and such when they're on the job.

This dude kickin that wisdom and knowledge. Excellent piece by vice. It’s always so good when someone sticks with their craft. Eventually they get recognized. Thank you for your contribution to your community your country and humanity. What you have done is very important. Many blessings brotha.
This man is a true hero in my eyes. A true visionary, and I really appreciate his work and ideology.
Honestly, sometimes I forget that older people were once young!
Yeah but they haven't got any crisp looking cell phone footage of Miley Cyrus being outrageous with Robin Thicke have they. Just some camcorder of police riots & hardcore punk rock shows & bikers, drag queens, gang members, dealers, criminals, weirdos, artists.
Because some of them forget too.
Remember that when you get old, if you live that long
We forget sometimes too but we're still badasses just slower.
No all young people will grow old
I got nothing but love and respect for old boy. I appreciate all the hard work and time you've dedicated to your passion. you've definitely made a great impact on this world
Big ups vice for putting up amazing content like this 🙌

@@LegionOfShrooms Is there context to this?
I live in England in the UK so don't really know much Re the culture there... this man sounds like a legend, a true artist who captured moments in time that would otherwise have been lost. He will undoubtedly not be forgotten... Respect.
In my country, the guy who filmed the evidence would have been killed by the cops.
Oof.
Yeah, we could have it worse.
You stay safe.❤️
When did you move to the u.s. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
That will happen in america soon enough. Free speech is stifled and only becoming moreso on a daily basis. We'll be joining your ranks soon comrad!
is that before or after i put it on the internet? would a cop kill if he knew the evidence was already available publicly? doubtful, because he would now be charged with murder in addition to the original crime he committed.
@@ChickenMcThiccken yeah no that wouldn't happen. We don't know what country this guy is from. For all we know hes from mexico where if you film a corrupt officer you will never see the next day. Shits real man I'm glad to be an american
"I was able to challenge the system and that, for me, was the American Dream; to be able to fight for freedom and survive." - Clayton Patterson
Thank you for sharing this awesome story. This is what people need to realize. Riots come out of a need for change. I can’t help but wonder how different his story would be as a black man
Big difference between what was going on back then and what’s happening in NYC and in other places today.
Legend!
Also I know it can be hard to open up when you went through an obscure trauma. That moment really hit me in the feels.
When he said he met Nelson Sullivan I wasn't surprised he was iconic for holding the camera in those days sad he passed so young
Nelson was the original OG blogger. 30 years ahead of his time
@@jayonez137 yes he was deff the goat he would be a real name in today's time for sure
I would like to say thank you for everything you've done. You deserve so much more appreciation.
Thanks, Clayton Patterson for being you!
You began filming "the door" the year I was born.
Take care man!
✊🏾 ❤️ 💎
This is amazing this man is a blessing that’s never been credited for his effort he deserves so much more
Great filming tips. So this man started the cop watch movement. Nothing to hide, nothing to fear.... Right officers?

@@clambo7786 oooh, so edgy supporting cops on a story about a guy famous for documenting unnecessary police brutality.
All that blood and no arrests. Leather must taste especially good today, right buddy?
@@vysharra dw about it, I bet they’ve been brainwashed by big cop industry they can’t even think of individuality anymore 😮💨
If a policeman/woman/other turns off their body camera, I can do nothing but assume they plan to do or already have done something wrong.
Thank you to Vice for yet another reason to get up in the morning and stand up for yourself.
I was arrested and charge d for tresspass on my own property and three other felonies added falsely prosecuted ycso
Nelson Sullivan is the real OG vlogger, glad to see him mentioned here
The price you pay hits me hard. The price we all pay is sad. They are Punishers, Clayton you are a Protector a Guardian and you do it with a camera you document the truth you capture it in time and in doing so you Protect and guard our rights. True solider of freedom. Freedom is living life without Force.
RIP Raybeez; I'm now 42 and still have warzone sprinkled throughout my Spotify playlist
Thank you for your due diligence you’re an inspiration, we must be vigilant and hold those whom are meant to uphold the law accountable for their actions.
Thanks Clayton for what you do. That has to be a difficult thing to do and I’m grateful there’s someone out there dedicating their time to watching the watch dogs. 👀 ⚖️
I love you brother! I truly do. You are a blessing, a soldier, a reason I have hope in people, and believe we can work together, Americans, for the good, making a better world for tomorrow. You are a hero! Thank you, and thank God for you.
This guy deserves an award and to be mentioned in media school.
Awesome interview thanks for mentioning RayBeez RIP the godfather of my hardcore scene great guy gone way too soon spent alot of time in L.E.S. as a youth and young man lots of heroin down there I've been clean almost 4 years now we can and do recover again thanks so much for the interview and getting those thugs with a badge held accountable the police would mess with us outside the venues just for being different
I came for the title, stayed and now I want to just learn how to begin documenting through photo and videos :D
The sky is the limit, maybe one day ur name will be next to the greats
Very interesting. Thank you, Clay, for what you've done in addressing the abuses of Koch and the NYPD, and for enduring all those years of PTSD, depression, etc. I hope you're doing better now! As someone who's struggled with mental health issues like that almost my entire life, I can definitely relate, even if the background causes are different!
Think of all the police brutality that went on before it can ever be captured on media smh
I wish this guy the best and that he finds a way to digitally archive all the footage he’s taken over the years
The hero the US didn't know we needed. Thank you for your work.
This is the type of stories I love. Keep bringing me this content.
Thank you for finally posting something that actually stands for justice for once instead of being concerned with your bottom lines
this is great, glad vice has started to put out good videos again. Please make a long version I want to see more of Claytons footage and photos!
That building he owns or office space is worth millions... God I wish I was in NYC in the mid 80s to of been able to purchase property back then and sit on it.
lame
When he mentioned Nelson!! Nelson’s videos are such a cool time capsule of the past I love his videos
Let's hope this doesn't repeat again in 2021 or in 2022
This the side of Vice we love. Everyday people with everyday lives. This guys is just important (may be the wrong word) as the beatles or the president, in our minuscule existence.
The OG of police brutality caught on tape. What a legend!
Why is it the ones with them self as there pics are the only ones missing a brain

I grew up in The Lower East Side and remember it was a tough place but it was a community where people looked out for each other even though there were social differences because everybody understood we were all in the same boat.
HEY look who I found!! When he was talking, I was like 'that voice sounds familiar' cause he sounds like you ❤ Tom Zebra may be the grandfather of cop watch, but this guy is for sure the great great great grandfather. Glad I watched this.....
@@LaurasharkCW WoW small world!! I knew this guy growing up he had a picture of my girlfriend in this video.
Salute to this man...sorry for what you went through during and after.. and thank you sir✍🏽💯
I could listen to this man's stories for days, soaking up nothing but wisdom
Hello
As “The Excitable Boy said. “I want to live all alone in the desert, I want to live like Georgia O’Keef. I want to live on the upper east side and never go down in the streets”
You’re always mentally thinking. You’re always putting ideas together in your head.
That pretty much wraps this one up.
Damn he was well spoken. His last statement in the video hit me deep.
Brought a tear to my eye thinking of how isolated all the people who do this feel. There needs to be an app to unite us. Citizen was advertised to me during this video, and I thought, if every auditor had that they might be able to film these events in unity
Vice. You've started doing good stuff again.
I'm glad
The ideal interviewee. Very articulate, anecdotal, introspective and transparent.
I got beat by multiple cops and have seizures over it. They got away with it lol
Yup me at 13 got beat hard in yeh stomach got away with it
Rip
@Dr Will Kutchurkokov smoking cheese parmesan
Long and messed up story. It made news but they lied and my medical files prove it.. Had a lawyer against the pd but she quit and never said why..
@Dr Will Kutchurkokov luck that boot more. Leftist like us are the ones that keep that boot from stepping on you
Make sure you've got two cameras; one on the action, and another watching you. Because holding a camera can be like trying score a touchdown when they want it.
THAT was excellent. Thank You for fighting the Good Fight Clayton Patterson
You sir, are a legend! Thank you for putting a tear in my eye! Inspiring
Lol such a cringe and biased comment
@@MayorMcheese12 lmao true
If he wants to find a psychiatrist or a psychologist that understands then he must find one who is willing to listen to his life story for a couple months of sessions in grave detail and then go from there. P.S. But do not forget Clayton himself said that some cops are good and some are bad. He would film the bad ones to show the truth. And more power to him! This video is worth something at least. Excellent video. Real to the core.
When this started I was wondering... hey I wonder if he ever rubbed shoulders with Nelson? Then I hear pyramid club then he says it!
I was on the same wavelength. Kind of mind blown
When I heard Nelson I perked up!!!! We need a doc about Nelson.
Clayton's sacrifice for a greater good is the definition a hero.
Yes this is the Legend that supreme just collaborated with
What a wise man!! If only the world had more people like him
Clayton is a real New York legend
You just know that big bro Patterson had his teeth knocked out for no reason, mans still standing proudly! Respect from Suriname, South-America!
Hey nelson Sullivan. The dude that was vlogging before it ever became famous
