I can't try her tamales unfortunately so I can't have an opinion on it, but there is this one tamale vendor a couple of blocks from my house that sells the most softest and tastiest tamales ever! Especially the ones con salsa verde, the salsa is very creamy and smooth and spicy as hell, combined with the softness of the masa, it makes for a bomb ass tamale! I always prefer to buy my tamales from him!
i love how socorro had a positive attitude and was giving good criticisms, while maria sat there acting like the tamale had traumatized her.
Maria didn't have to be so rude, she pushed them away about 2 feet away from her as if it was a disease. While the other 2 abuelas were nice and humble,and at least tried to be nice about it.for someone who literally put carrots in her tamales, carrots.

I always think about how different our tamales are. I'm norteña and I've been eating thin, thick and greasy tamales my whole life! We don't put carrots in them! But, when I visited my friends in Mazatlán, their tamales were way too different, even in Toluca and CDMX where they are so big and fluffy. There's so much diversity about just one dish and I think their judgement were based just in their personal experiences, especially Maria and her rajas con chile, I mean, I told my mom and she was like "Who puts carrots if it's a rajas con chile tamale???", But yeah, you get my point

@@vv-xt6zl I am a Hispanic (Mexican), I've never heard anyone put carrots in tamales, yes I'm aware some Latinos put pineapple, chicken and other ingredients. Also mexican is not a religion, it's a culture. I honestly don't find it offensive, that Americans or other cultures have opinions on Mexican food. Also, if they have never tasted a tamale, they probably wouldn't have judged her tamale. I'm not trying to be offensive but it seems like you just start to assume that those people have never tasted a tamale before.
