How To Fix SONY TV Wont Turn On No Standby Light || No Picture No Sound

- There are several reasons why your SONY TV won't Turn On No Standby Light, and understanding each possible cause can help you resolve the problem quickly.
Solution: Front indicator LED light off, no sound and no display. First, check their PSU has output voltage or not? If totally no voltage output, try to disconnect the connector from Mainboard and check the PSU standby voltage (3.3V or 5V) output appears or not. If no standby voltage output, then it is the PSU board problem, not Mainboard. If the PSU has standby voltage output (3.3V or 5V) but no PS_ON (Power On signal, some time is shown PWR_ON, PWR, POWER, POWER ON, ON/OFF &, etc.)
the output signal from TV Mainboard, then it should be the Mainboard problem. But before confirming it is the TV Mainboard, make sure to check the front panel keypad and remote control first. If both also can’t power on the TV, then it is confirmed that the TV Mainboard is defective.

hi nice channel hope you're keeping safe during these strange times, I have a sony KD-55X8509C the set will switch on and display the sony logo for a few seconds then power off, I have no standby light or green power light and no flashing error codes either, a few days before on a couple of occasions the tv would not start which I fixed by un plugging the set for a minute but now that doesn't even work, does this sound like a power board issue ?

Hi. My Sony KDL48W600B has ho standby light and doesn't turns on. Power board is supplying 19.6 volts. If I keep the tv in bright sunlight with back cover removed and heat it up I get SONY logo on screen which comes and goes many times and ultimately I can turn on the tv. Everytime I turn off the tv same problem occurs and I need the sun again. Can u suggest what is the problem in my tv.

My TV is a KD-55X8505C manufactured in 2015/12.
It has worked perfect untill now when I wanted to move it to another location. It started a a few times but now it is not starting.
No LED and no responce when I try to start it fron the RC or the button on the back.
I have opened it and measured STBY3.3V to 3.46V and REG12V to 12.7V.
When I follow the STBY3.3V on the main board I can't see that it uses this to power anything. The big components that shall carry high current are not populated. There is only a small resistor taking the signal to a thin trace on the board. Seems a bit odd.
The black heat sink get a little warm after some time. So there is some kind of activity going on.
Is the next step to replace the main board? If so, where can I buy one?

Recheck again then decide to buy new main board.
Frequently this is happening due to psu or inverter board.
So please recheck carefully.
You can buy the parts from any authentic shop better to visit physically.

Hello. I have sony klv-26ex300 tv. And It does not have led indication and backlight also not on. I checked on power board i got 3.3 v stb, power on and ac detect voltage also proper and stable. But don't get the 12v and 24v. I also get the dc 350v on primary section. But not on driver ic ssc9513.

Hello there, I was watching you tube in my sony bravia, suddenly the screen turned black and showed some purple horizontal lines, with some scratchy, glitchy sound, then there was a little flash like light right in the middle of the screen and faded away. After that I completely, powered off the tv and turned it back on. First the green light appeared but nothing else, no sound, no nothing. But, when I did it again, the light was also gone. Now it's completely blank. No light, no picture, no sound, nothing. What's wrong? Please help
Disconnect external connection and recheck the issues. If same problem then open back cover and recheck all connection. Connect all plug tightly. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Hello, when i turn on tv the stand by light(white) turns on and then turns off after few seconds. The screen doesnt turn on at all. Its connected to the wall. Remote control is makes no difference. Tv box power doesnt change anything.There is no burns on the two boards. Please advice me.

Hi there i got a sony tv 49 kd-49x8309c
It will turn on and off and restart by itself randomly . It will never be turned on more than 1 second.
I took it apart and did some test
With main board plugged
3.3 v test - nothing
Ac off constant at 2.38 v
Nothing on power on .
Without mainboard plugged-
No voltage on all.
What do you think ?

Hey lukaz leong, please check psu output voltage normal & steady (5v, 3.3v,2.5v,1.8v and 1.26v or [0.9v core voltage]). If all voltage supply is ok that’s mean psu board is ok and problem is main board or panel board.

I've got a Sony KDL-46z4100 that won't show a red stand-by light at all. TV will power on with a green light, but only with vertical lines, no sound and no ability to change the input or channels. I've purchased a main board, t-con board and power supply board off Ebay with no luck getting it to power on and work again. In fact I've tried two different main boards and power supply boards, all with matching part numbers. Any suggestions to get this thing working again would be greatly appreciated.

@@FIXNETFLIX I'm just not clear as to why i don't even have a standby light. If it has the wrong voltage supply won't that be resolved with another power/main board? TV is immaculate inside in fact no dust at all. I replaced the power supply board and have tested numerous main boards and power supply boards with no change. I'll try the lvds cable next. Hey, i got an Sony KD 55X8505C.
My Problem is that one day my screen does not appear and there is no light underneath the sony logo. Feels like there is no power trough, but i plugged a google Chromecast in the usb input, the chrome cast got energy and i'am able to connect from my computer to chromecast. But there is no Picture or Sound anyway. Can't start the TV with my Remote or the Powerbutton on the backside.
maybe you have an idea, the video shows lot's of possibles in my case but i can't imagine which one would it be.

I have to power cycle it by unplugging it, not easy with my setup... these smart tvs are hot garbage.. get picture, software is brutal. im using a Apple TV I don't want any software. If you can't even turn on then you have failed the first function of begin a tv.

Have a Samsung plasma no stand by but when plugged in sound like trying turn on no pics but here the sound it making replaced y main board but think it still is n fault mode . Ok tested standby by has 5 volts but when I test the plug where all volts are first plug says 12 volts it's read 10 volts so can a power supply standby still read 5 volts and be bad ? Or think main board bad?

If so , then tv main board is ok and you require to check tcon board, lvds cable and tv panel.

Just now tge volts on power supply are alot lower then what board says should be like 12 volts pin at top saying 10.48 volts so not sure if main board go be draining it some how

Hi, I have a Sony KD-55x8509C.
Problem is, LED indicator turns on briefly, then goes out. Not backlight on tv, only LED indicator is on briefly when power button is pressed.
It started to do this a month ago, and i could turn on the tv sometimes after unplugging power, but now it is completely dead. Only LED powers on and goes out few seconds after.
Forced Factory settings not working, when i try this it flashes green, but also here it just dies. Unplugging doesent work anymore.
Does this sound like PowerBoard replacement?

I've got a really odd situation here with my XBR-65X900C. There's no indicator light nor is there any backlight, picture, or audio playing. Nothing at all. I opened it up and verified that it's got standby voltage at 3.3V (as the circuit expects), and when I press the power button, the backlight circuitry is receiving power (2x 12V power). While the bl_err does produce a 2.7V voltage, this in itself should make the tv blink the 4 red lights of death in the status LED on the bottom of the screen, but instead there's nothing there. I've tried bypassing the bl_err to ground (to trick the circuitry into thinking that there's nothing wrong with the backlight - possibly one of the LEDs could be out but there's like 200+ there and it worked fine a few months ago so it's highly unlikely they all went out in one go), but still, no life at all. Is this indicative of the main board being bad? Is there anything else I should look for before ordering a new board/getting it fixed? Thanks!

Jeroen Goossens I have the same TV and same problem, no power or lights..How were you able to tell which circuit was which? For example, I tried testing the connector on the left side, I see the key with the labels, but I can’t tell which end would be 1? Also, the 7th circuit down from the top (its either the AC_OFF_DET, or BL_ERR) -keeps sparking when I try to test it, any idea why it would do that? Btw, the connector that I’m referring to is CN6401.
andrew theace i just used the pinout that’s labeled on the board and measured like that. Pin 1 has a little “1” next to it, same with pin 7or8 on the other side. I don’t have the board available to me atm, but my plan is to replace the mainboard (or get it serviced) and then try again. You can test if your backlight works by simply disconnecting the small ribbon cable between the main board and the lcd backlight board (the middle one, not the tcon) and powering up. My main board is dead ‘cause it’s not even giving me 5v power on the usb outlets

Before I try a main board ( very costly here in Australia), can you please tell me exactly where to look for lcd backboard ribbon, to try what you did.The only boards I can see, with the back off, are the power board, the mainboard, and a smaller board at the bottom, with etchings saying J20H088 801939 ...not sure what that is...THANKS

I have sony tv kd-65X8509C. It turns on shows sony logo and then backlight is active but no picture. Standby led is off. Can't turn off from button behind. I measured voltage on boards that seems to be ok. Can it be software? Is there any tool to flash memory with computer?
So i don't know history about TV what i have. But backlight is working, if i plug it to socket then it starts ... shows Sony logo after that dim. down backlight little bit and that's all. I can't switch off TV from buttons behind. It won't react to remote control. Stand by led is off(nothing from that part). So i think that someone is bricked it with software. Also i downloaded new firmware from sony page but i don't start install. I tried to push vol. down and power but nothing (it don't react to buttons at all). Is here somebody who have more suggestions?

Hi nida lonatro, at first check the power cable and electric outlet 🏬. If electric supply is ok then check tv’s psu board and main board.
Find out the faulty parts and replace the board.

Now wait few minutes then plug 🔌 in back and turn on the tv.

My sony 65a8F oled has no standby light. It only has white light when it turns on. Sony by far has the worst after sales service. I paid $3500.0 in 2018 for this tv, didnt even last 2 yrs. ughhh!! my last Sony for sure. THey have no customer service on the phone. Only via chat. I changed my power board with the help of Geek squad as sony didnt have any authorized service provider in NYC. i coulndt belive it. Dont thing geek squad is well prepared. They had no power meter to test if there is power. They simply changed the board and still wont turn on. Now I have to wait for them to order main board and see if it works. So frustrating. Should have bought the LG oled.
