- Do you have Sony TV model KDL-50W800C that has a white image that fades in as soon as you switch on the TV and red coloured error light that blinks five times ? This video is aimed for someone who wants to find a solution or repair for their faulty Sony TV.
But remember, this fix is temporary only. Buy a new or refurbished one to fix the TV permanently.

The service center guy came and checked the tv and said it's a display problem which cost around 25k.
He didn't even touch T-con panel.

@@prasadsadaphule2506 25000 Rupee! You can buy a new TV with that money 😄. Yes, you should sent your TV to your local technician and ask for their suggestion whether to fix the TV or replace the panel (better buy new TV 😅)
@@prasadsadaphule2506 For the repair cost, I am not sure because the cost vary from technician to technician, but, there are some technicians that provide free TV diagnostic 😀. Also, the T-Con board cost me around 2000 Rupee.
I used a hair dyer and it works! The sony technician told me this tv model is too old and couldn't find the part to fix, asked me to buy a new tv. I found your video on youtube and my tv is revived now😄

Thank you so much for this trick. The Sony service people were not able to attend and said to replace the TV which would cost a Bomb. I didn't open any part, just blowed hot air from hair dryer on the back of the TV.. Within minutes it booted and working all fine. I did a format as well. Thank you once again.

Thanks for sharing. I have problem with power connector, either inside powerboard or plug itself. When wiggle the plug I notice TV cycle power on/off, until I leave that and will be stable. Probably bad soldered connector inside TV. Atleast now I see how easy this is to disassemble for access to powerboard, so the video was helpful.

I did the hair dryer tricks at back of TV, without taking out the cover. It works. Not sure how long can last. Thanks for the info bro. 👍

This works magic, as I did a hard reset by holding the power button and the volume down button at the same time for about 15 seconds , the Telly came up . from Nigeria

Yes, you can. But, it will cost a lot just to replace the T-Con board by Sony Technician 😀.
Hi everyone, it worked for me too. Without opening it, and 10 sec with the blow dryer, the TV comes to life. I do have to do it every morning, but while I don't get it fixed, it's a great hack to get by. Thanks a lot for your video! 😁
yep!! I did it today and It worked Just fine- But I didn't have any hot air station Gun, I used my electric oven at 250c I put it middle of the oven coil first 3 min and after cooling I also put it on the middle of the electric oven another 3 min if you put 150c you can extend the duration.

I have Sony KDL43W800D model. For the last three days the red light blinked 5 times but the TV display did not turn on. When I tried your method it worked. I just heated back side of the TV with hairdryer without opening the panel. Thank you so much..

Worked for me too. Used hair dryer for 5-10 minutes to blow hot air in vents on back panel and tv started normally without 5 times red light blinking. But it's temporary solution, problem comes back so needs to be done again

To all the people who are getting blinking issue first turn off the main supply of the house stay for 20mins then turn on it will come back I found out after 3months with 5 times blinking issue of my kdl43w800d even when I called the Sony TV service operator he told new panel is needed worth 11000 so I didn't changed suddenly it turned on when we installed led tubelight in home for that purpose I turned off the main supply then after installing when I turned on the main supply I don't know I felt like turning on the TV after 3 months of 5times red light blinking it turned into white and started rebooting and completely came back try this also may be it help and also use Stabilizer for TV

Hello 😀. Yes, the TV should be replace with a new T-Con board. For the cost, I'm not sure whether it is pricey or not because I do the repair by myself 😕. Usually, if you get help from the Sony authorized technician, they will charge you alot. Expect around $100 to $150 worth of labour plus the T-con board cost 😀.

Hello farshadvamp 😀, you can try reset the picture setting first (Home>Setting>Display>Picture>Advanced Settings>Reset>) and then go to picture setting and choose the suitable picture setting like Picture mode, Brightness, Colour, Clarity, and Motionflow. It is recommended that, when you adjust the setting, make sure you have a video playing in the background, so that when you adjust the picture setting, you can see the differences when adjusting the setting like contrast, gamma, sharpness, black level, and etc 😀.

@@farshadvamp Did the new T-Con that you have bought has the same exact model number? Also, have you try reseat the LVDS and ribbon cable yet? Sometimes, those two cables has some oxidation on it. You can try clean it using an eraser GENTLY, because those ribbon cables are so fragile. Like me, when I installed the new T-Con board on the TV, the picture on the screen suddenly became distorted. When I reseated it back, voila! cystal clear hahaha 😀

Dear cainaben, I deeply thank you for knowledge and time that you give it to me, as a matter a fact my technician recently changed that cable too, but it doesn't change anything, I also upgrade to the latest version, so my conclusion is that my new t con board doesn't have same function like old one. It came from China because I live in the country that is impossible to access fabric board. But once again I thank you friend.

Hello 😀. It's actually a Contact Cleaner. I was experimenting on the faulty T-Con board because I suspected that there might be some loose contact or oxidation on the components' lead.

I have a sony kdl 48w650d which has sound and backlight but no picture. The LED does not blink and its blue. I suspect the T-con board is fault but for the life of me, i cant find the usual rectangular shaped T-Con board. I read somewhere that there is no T-con board for this model but the timing controller is integrated to the screen directly. Is this true?
Hello 😃. Yes, it is true that some of the TV panel do have an integrated T-Con attached to it. If you suspected that the integrated T-Con is bad, you can try send the TV for repair, but usually, the repair cost would be high. Better for you to disassemble the TV and then sell the parts 😃. Hello 😀. No, the TV will not function if there is no T-Con board. Here is an advice, you can try warm up the back of the TV (or where the T-Con board is located) with a hairdryer. This will temporarily fix the TV but it is not really practical to do so because you do not want to waste 5 minutes just to switch on the TV 😂.

Hello 😀. Mine was a faulty T-Con board. In my case, when I switched on the TV in the morning or when the TV is cold, it starts right up. When I switched off the TV and then I switched it back on, the white screen appears 😁.

I perform this heating process is because I want to confirm whether the T-Con board is faulty or not. In my case, the T-Con board is faulty and then I changed it with a new one 😀.

Hello 😀. Blue tint? 🤔 You mean blue screen? If your TV has blue screen, the LED Strip will not caused the problem. It is either the T-Con board that is faulty or the LCD panel is faulty 😀.

Hello 😀. It seems like you have the same problem like mine did. Usually, symptom of a faulty T-Con board is when the TV is 'cool', the screen appears white and when the TV is 'hot', it works like a normal TV. Try reheat the T-Con board and see whether it fix the problem or not 😁.

Hello 😀. Sorry for late reply 😅🙇🏻♂️. It is hard to justify wether the T-Con board or the LCD panel itself that is faulty. 'Usually', the T-Con board is the culprit. Have you try reseating the LVDS and ribbon cable? Also, try to reheat the T-Con board and see what happens. Do as much test on the T-Con board first and then you can justify wether it is faulty or not. You can also test the LCD panel using LCD panel tester. You need to have one of this device or you can borrow it from your local TV repair shop 😀.
Is there a way to keep that T-CON warm without needing to re-do this all again just because to blow that thing with a hair dryer 🙂???

Bro my tv have the same issues, tried your method by opening the panel and hair dryer the tcon for few seconds and tv booted, thought the issue resolved, so screwed the back panel and when turn on the tv again its again the same problem but I can hear sounds . Hello 😀. If you're T-Con board is faulty, change it to a newer one. I also changed the T-Con board of my TV to a 'newer' (probably refurbished 😕) one and not long after, the 'new' T-Con board also went out 🤣. I've changed to a new TV since then 😆.

Fortunately, no issues at all at first. But now, the TV do have some issues. I believe that the mainboard was toasted because the T-Con was new, not refurbished. The issue was, when my family and I watched the TV, the first hour was OK. But after that, the TV panel shows some double image with white flush and ghosting effect. Now, I have another TV, surely not Sony 😁.

I believe that the T-Con will not spoil the mainboard because it is new. Also, I do believe that, all the components inside the TV, like the mainboard, T-Con, backlight, and the TV power adapter, last around 3.5 to 4 years only. Why? Because some of the manufacturers use really cheap electronic components like the capacitors. Even the TV panel itself, I thought Sony made it, but it was Winstron brand. Recently, I've just ordered a new LVDS ribbon cable for the TV and I will try to replace the old one with the new one 😃.
@@LanesEngineering I have my another TV (Samsung) repaired recently by home visit. They came and replaced one of the board. It died off after 2 hours viewing. They came and collect the TV back to their shop to repair and saying the new board caused the other board failed. So they repair it FOC.

Hello 😀. Sorry for late reply 🙇🏻. You just need to pry the plastic tabs in upward direction using a flat head screwdriver. Be careful not to damage it 😁.

Hello 😀. Unfortunately, the experiment failed and it is not caused by bad or cold solder joints. I decided to buy a new T-Con board 😅. Not long after, the 'new' T-Con board also went bad 🤣.

ok after the t con replacement, have you used the hardcore like 8 hours straight or just casual like 2 hours a day ?

Hello 😀. Yes, the T-Con board is likely to fail because of excessive heat accumulated inside of the TV back cover. Be sure to attach an external USB exhaust fan at the vent around the TV back cover.
After I replaced the T-Con board, I casually watched it for around 2-3 hours. The T-Con board did last around 1.5 years, something like that. When the 'new' T-Con board failed, I did not heat it up because I was too lazy to open back the TV back cover 🤣. Hope that helps 😁.

Hello 😃. Did you bought a refurbished T-Con board? Refurbished T-Con usually do not last long. Also, what online platform did you use when you bought the T-Con board? Here is a suggestion, you can try search for the T-Con board (make sure it is new and not refurbished) on AliExpress. There are tons of sellers out there in AliExpress. You just need to see the customers' review about the T-Con board that the sellers sell wether it is good or not and you can decide which seller is good or not. Also, make sure the T-Con part number is the same as yours. Goodluck trying to find one 😃👍🏻.
@@LanesEngineering I bought it from Shopee. Seller claim it is a new board. I tried to analyze the new board and it seems it is not compatible with my TV model. I noticed a different board part number compared to orig board based on barcode sticker. Marking on PCB is confusing. It is a PCB marking that can be used for different TV model but components may vary depending on feature of TV. Thank you very much for your inputs!

Surely this problem coming from display controller aka tcon, but you may also check your power supply / inverter and flexible connector as well. If you see your problem occured again randomly, better check your voltage input/output between mainboard and tcon

Hello 😀. First, you can try reset the TV by unplugging the power cable and then press the start button for 30 minutes to remove all the stored electricity inside the TV. If that did not work, (*Note: if you are not confident to disassemble your TV, do not do it) you can try reseat the LVDS cable and T-Con ribbon cables by removing it and then connect it back together. Also, if that did not work, consult your TV technician. You do not want to go any further when trying to find a fault on your TV as this is more likely for you to do more damage to your own TV like damaging the LCD panel 😀.

My Tv is working now after 2-3 hr i just removed main power cable which is connected to back with adpater and pressing back panel of TV power button on-off after two time pressing my TV start automatically.. so i am happy now.. But tell me it will happens again same ? now what kind of need to take precautions ?

Hello 😀. You can try placing your TV under the Sun. Place it where the sunlight hits the T-Con board area. This is to ensure that the T-Con board receive adequate amount of heat 😀.

Hello 😀. I've also experienced those behaviours before 🤣. I just reseat (reseat, not reset) the LVDS and T-Con ribbon cables. It should fix the problem 😀.

Anyone here ever fixed Sony Bravia KDL48W 650D ? Mine shows red error lights 5 times after I replaced the main board. I wonder if the t-con is integrated into the main board as I cant find where is the T-con board. Can some one confirm iof there is indeed no separate T-Con Board for this model? Thanks in advance.
Hello 😃. Before you replace the main board, does the TV shows any error lights? Also, usually the T-Con board connect after the main board and before the LCD panel. Here is a link for you to check wether this is the correct T-Con board for your TV or not.
Before the replacement of main board, the tv powers up and turns on with backlight and no red errors lights. There was sound but no display, just grainy picture on screen. After the replacement of the main board, the tv powers up n backlight flashes then it goes into dark screen n then the. 5 times error red light. Could the replacement board be faulty?
There is no t-con board that i can see when I open up the back cover of the tv. I wonder if the main board has t-con integrated on same board.
@@tomsu9364 Usually, the T-Con is integrated with the LCD panel itself.
So for this particular model, if the display is faulty then the main board must be changed? I thought normally t-con comes separately like the tv you repairs in this video.

Iya, bisa jadi T-Con board ataupun Chip On Film (COF) yang merusak. Biasanya, panas berlebihan menandakan short circuit. Jadi, kamu harus kenal pasti di mana short circuitnya 😀.

My suggestion to all of you please check cable which is connected from screen to board because my problem is solved when i disturbed that wire and i done it without opening my TV i just cleaned it through hair dryer and disturb wire at 2:09 in this video

That way, you will not waste a lot of money rather than buy a T-Con and LCD panel simultaneously. Like Sony Customer Service that you just mentioned, they said that they will replace the T-Con and LCD panel right? For me, it is better for you to replace the TV with a new TV and you can sell your TV's internal parts for money 😃 and remember, if anything that involves an LCD replacement, it will cost you a lot of money and instead, buy a new TV 😃.

Try reseat the LVDS cable and T-Con ribbon cable. I also have this kind of problem when my TV suddenly shows chess board screen, then red screen, blue screen, and green screen.

Also, believe me, I am just a normal person that has no degree or master in electronics. So, I am not a qualified person or technician to ask 😅. What I can tell you, is that TVs nowadays, fail after the warranty end 😆. My TV is same like your TV, it fails after 3 years. You can, at least try, change the T-Con board. You can buy it online at AliExpress. Also, it is cheaper to buy there. It does not cost you much. Around U$D20, you can get one 😀. Oh before that, have you try to reset your TV? Press and hold the power button on your remote or at the back of your TV for at least 10 second. Maybe that will fix your TV issue? Good luck! 👍🏻

I contacted sony and they told its t con problem for same issue and cost around 17k.
Then contacted local technician and he checked and told that t con is fine.
We removed little dust inside TV.
earlier my showing 5 times red blink and now LED light not blinking and no light showing in led light.
Please help me what is exact problem.

Have you try shine a torchlight onto the LCD panel (the TV must switch on)? Maybe the LED backlights are faulty 😃.

i just put it under the sun,until the outside casing feels hot, and restart...boom Sony, will never turn of the power again...coz this board loves the heat .. so much.....so ill let it plug in forever..
