Weak port selection and small battery are definitely some of the negatives here which will put off a lot of people in my opinion. The soldered RAM is standard practice for a small laptop however not an issue as you can upgrade to a maximum of 64GB during the ordering process. As this was a pre-production model, I'm sure the 1080p webcam is not an issue and the internal mics sounded very clear. Once again, while the internal speakers sounded good for a Windows laptop, it is still no comparison to the MacBook Pro's much fuller sound quality. The gorgeous 400 nits OLED display is another positive but no option for 120Hz refresh rate is also another negative. Great video Andrew and I'm glad you're feeling much better! 👍😁

Having an AMD processor is supposedly an advantage to getting a good battery life, but is offset by a small capacity battery. Another con is the lack of port selection.

Another few cons are the keyboard, which isn't as good as an X1 Carbon or 2 in 1 and the touchpad is awful when used with the trackpoint. I use it all the time on my Thinkpad T25 which I'm using while I wait for my Framework Laptop 16 to come. The T25 is the very last ThinkPad to come with the old 7 row keyboard, but cannot officially go to Windows 11 (but I installed Linux on it and it's working well)!

Not sure how old you are my friend but alot of these Ultra Portable/Thin and Light notebooks have always had few ports. Now days if you are the target demographic for this machine it has everything you'd need, again from something this size. Also comparable to others of this same size, specs and weight. I know its not alot but most are just using it as is or connected to a monitor/tv, or a second laptop for more ports/horsepower for actual work.

Not sure if you can say but was there any talk from Lenovo about upgrading to 8000 series soon or is it only likely at the end of the year? It is a really nice design but I am interested seeing how the new XPS's, the updated X1 Carbon and the G14 perform first?

Good option for those who want an ultra portable ryzen 7840u laptop with more than 16 gigs of ram.
This seems like a direct response to the HP pavilion 14 plus. The pavilion beats this out in almost every category except not having more larger ram options.
Hope hp responds in turn with a refreshed line of pavilions with more ram

AMD laptops are absolutely amazing! I the advantages vs intel nowadays are very noticeable if you ever do the switch... last year i had an intel gaming laptop with an i7-12700h and a 3070ti and my battery life was absolutely horrible! and my performance on battery was just as bad... now i bought a laptop with a ryzen 9 7940hs and a 4070 and my battery life lasts at least 2-3x as much and i dont lose any performance on battery! the powerful iGPU is also amazing especially with dial monitor setups... i have my main gaming display connected to my dGPU and my 4k60hz connected to my iGPU and since theyre connected to both GPUs i never get any loss of performance from either the 4k display or my gaming display!

Nice PC. Remember only one USB-C port available when plugged in. Port selection fair. Speakers sounded flat when compared to the MAC but remember most users will not have a MAC nearby when using this pc. Most people will get used to the sound on this which is still pretty good. Camera is fair but if it is because of this particular unit then it is no big deal. Display is good. Keyboard looks okay. Gfreat review.

I wasn't really care about the battery life when I brought my Thinkpad E15. I am so bothered by the battery life in my 2 years of use, I can't even finish an one hour Teams meeting (with screen sharing and IDEs opened in the background) with a full battery. I have to take the charger with me all the time, even just having a short break from my desk.
I saw a lot of reviews or laptops with smaller battery than my E15. Some reviews reported a 8-10 hours battery life. Those reviews really scam buyers who are not into tech. We need some assurance of battery life like PCMark 10 gaming test.

About your second comment. I also never game on my laptop, mostly just software development. PCMark 10 gaming is just to simulate the battery life under intensive load. We all occationaly work on heavy tasks on battery. its a good way to give you an assurance of minimum battery life.

Hmmm I don’t think this will sell well - poor io, anaemic cpu performance even for that U series, surprisingly throttling despite decent external thermals, noise, and a fairly advanced cooling solution.. not even a 90hz.. I know Lenovo discount stuff regularly but even then this seems poor value and already outdated compared to other stuff that’s out now…
A couple of friendly suggestions AMD! it doesn’t really work to compare only total TimeSpy and FireStrike scores between generation models as an example of improved GPU performance, as those scores take in both CPU and GPU, which in this case are throttling. It would be better to show GT1, GT2 AND total, to give an idea of how much the iGPU has improved… that, or maybe add previous gen to the game results also.
Also, although you note in the pros and cons that sadly this has no high refresh option, it would be great to add the screen refresh Hz to the display section of the Specs, for all your reviews 👍
    Mucho love ❤

Because of the OLED screen (That's the unit Marc has and mentioned it in the video. Draws more battery plus they suffer from PWM flickering and they wear out over time much quicker due to the organic compound used). IPS would be better since these drawbacks are eliminated as that's what general users typically need. As Andrew Marc says in his videos: those that are content creators and want an extremely colour accurate, they can go with OLED option (just reiterating, so I can have a more detailed argument). With an IPS, when deciding to buy a new laptop to meet your personal needs, go with the 400 nits option (with 100% sRGB color coverage - colours don't look washed out, but colours should still be excellent). Touch screen options are good for those that want it, but it drains the battery faster. Hopefully everything makes sense!
