Great build. May be a good idea to have a removable piece that goes over the washing up bowl so you have a prep space next to the hob for chopping and plating up the food.
I clicked on this video thinking ‘nah, too small’, and expecting it to be cramped and tight but actually that looks spacious and comfortable. I’d try it out for sure. Nice work in such a small vehicle. Great colour choice too! 👍
Thanks for watching Mark, that's about as good of a comment as I could hope for! I'm glad I could do better than your expectations. Micro-campers can be great fun to travel in! 🙌🏻
Okay, this video is 1 year old.. but wowww I just love it! It's simple and minimalistic. With a slightly wider bed or with a pull-out function and it would be perfect for me and the lady 😍
I would call that a bunk not a bed... I would have made a pullout bed, but I'm glad it works for you. Love the pullout kitchen though and the camo colour. 🙂
Absolutely fantastic van build mate, love it from the matte olive green exterior to the uncluttered, functional and still aesthetically pleasing interior. Also the uncomplicated kitchen setup. Planning to buy a T4 or T5 later on this year and I'll keep it minimal inside too.
Really appreciate the comment Simon, it means a lot. It's exactly what I wanted to achieve with this build! Good luck with your T4/T5 conversion when it comes around, I used to have a T4 888, bloody loved that van. Beautiful vehicles!
@@livinginkevlar Thanks for your response. I was looking at Caddys too but for whatever reason they seem to be more expensive. Holding their value is a good thing obviously as it indicates they are reliable and durable, which is characteristic of VW in general. Is it because there were less of them produced, or because in the long run they are cheaper to run from the point of view of fuel consumption?
Been wanting to make a campervan, but with storage for tools and stuff and also be able to put a motorbike in there, I like this simplicity this of this build
You might need a bigger van then this to fit all of that. I’m a carpenter and I have a big Mercedes sprinter to fit all my tools and live comfortably full time. Glad you like the build 👍🏼
Thank you, that means a lot! I've been living in my van for a few years now and have absolutely learned that a simple but highly functional set up will always serve you best on the road. 🙌🏻

Thanks for the walk around and an interesting take on using a folding solar panel, something i may consider for my nissan nv200. Like your vehicle its a simple build and i think very functional. Maybe you might consider some grommets where you have strung your shock cord in lieu of cupboard doors ? Thanks Mike in County Durham
Thanks for watching Mike! Appreciate the comments on the build, and yeah the folding solar panel is a real winner for convenience in a little van like this one. Personally didn't want to jeopardise the space on the roof rack to get one on the roof! Could definitely put grommets on the cabinet with the shock cord, but personally I really like the counter sunk finish with the ply exposed - personal taste here I guess. 😅
Great conversion. Love it. Had a big camper just downsizing and simplifying. What are your bed/storage units / where from they look an amazing solution to everything I need for weekend ! Thanks dude great vid
Great work they look fantastic and solve the space puzzle really well. My transporter just died on me on the side of road turbo injectors failed new engine needed so going smaller for solo wildlife photo trips/ stealth street photo sessions. Looking at a 2015 caddy 1.6 120k on clock so space is paramount. Gonna be using roof box for additional gear just need to solve the cooking sleeping puzzle first. Thanks again man.
Fabulous van build Cam. Looks wonderful. Yeah that powerbank and solar is perfect for the van. Shame these small vans are going out of fashion haha cuz the March Hare is getting a bigger one 🚛
I love the work! What length and width of bed do you have left? I'm sure you said it in the video, but I don't understand the language. I have translated the question on Google. thank you!!
I think it's a bit mistake having an outdoor kitchen. It means that when the weather is awful or you're in certain places (middle of city, right next to a busy road) you simply can't cook. I can understand the pressure of space but it's perfectly possible to get a cooker/sink unit in a van the size of a Caddy.
Hi! I totally understand your point, in my larger van obviously the kitchen is inside. With the smaller builds it always comes down to a toss up of intended use, definitely can't have everything in a space like that! This one prioritises desk/storage space as it's built to be more of a weekend/short trips van. In the case of un-ideal park ups the inside desk could totally be used to cook on instead with a little single burner. 👍🏻 Do you have a van yourself? Like hearing about other people's builds.
