I think it's pretty messed up how people are commenting on his drumming as if he was not a good drummer. No, this isn't his composition, but you guys should have the same respect for him as you do for Lyle because The Faceless chose him to be their drummer. I've been a fan of Alex since 2009 and he has never ceased to amaze me. Ordinance, Threat Signal, The HAARP Machine, he's done amazing stuff! So many people just criticize him because "he's not Lyle." Well I've personally met and talked to Alex for at least 1 and a half hour, and he was probably one of the coolest people I have EVER met. He has my total respect.
Even bigger respect for Lyle for inventing the godlike drum tracks in the first place! Alex can play them very well but Lyle thought of them originally!
Thats your opinion, because you like Alex better than Lyle, even though Lyle has a very unique way of drumming, so does Alex respectively but Lyle's is so unusual!. How does it mean nothing? Do you not understand? It hardly looks bad on Lyle's part as I said he thought them up and put with on the album. Lyle can play just as accurately as Alex on his own songs. He even closes his eyes throughout the whole song with little effort! Im not saying Alex is a bad drummer or any less of a drummer than Lyle, each to their own. But all I'm saying is Lyle has to be given respect for his inventing of the tracks for Akeldama and Planatary Duality!
***** If you say so fan boy. As I said that's your opinion. I never once said he was better I said he deserves credit too. God. People are so fucking blind.
Ok. After 28 years of playing the drumkit, looking up to the Masters : Mangini, Bozzio, Peart... I'm just gonna say this. Alex Rüdinger is THE most mind blowing drummer I've ever come across. He's probably THEE best progressive metal drummer in the world. Pure technical and musical skill and creative originality.
dude is not human i've been playing for almost 15 years similar to the 1st DOWN (Nola) record watchin Alex is insane his blast beats & switching hands guys amazing
Hey Alex, this has been (and remains) one of my favorite covers that you've done, for years now! One big part is the nostalgia aspect... It brings me back to my high school days getting into heavier metal, and specifically this album from the Faceless. But also, this is the video I showed to one of my wife's cousins over 10 years ago when he were just a wee lad. Back then it was only KPop for him, and he was all 'wtf' at this, but now he listens to all sorts of metal, and we've gone to shows together! I like to think I (and by association, you) had some influence on that. Hell yeah! 🤘
I don’t know why but I’m most impressed, before the footwork, how comfortable Alex is to be able to mute his cymbals at the right time in the middle of absolutely destroying the kit!
He is and always will be my favorite drummer of all time. I'm so glad I met him during the BTBAM tour that they did in Orlando. I drove hours to go see The Faceless and meet this amazing guy. Nicest guy I've ever met so mad respect goes out to Alex and keep doing what you're doing. Hope to meet you again \m/
Alex, could you give us a tutorial on how you developed your technique? You seem to have a really unique blend of finger control and big arm motions, and hardly any wrist. Still you seem very relaxed and at ease at high tempo's, without sacrificing power. I'm really curious how you developed your style of playing, hopefully i'm not the only one, back me up here guys!
Well he had lessons with Travis Orbin who emphasises an all wrist approach like Mike Mangini. If you watch Alex's older videos you can see he throws from the wrist, but once he started playing songs with higher tempos he started using more of the "flying fingers" technique. Now it seems to be a marriage of the two. When he plays the bomb blasts in this song he's using an all wrist motion, but the fast blasts at the start and played with his fingers.
The wrist is everything for any drummer. but most fast metal/death metal/ heavy ass stuff like this calls for using what James refers to as "flying fingers". Which is just using your fingers and the bounce back of the head to achieve higher speeds than your wrists will ever be able to reach.
Mr. Serious I'm familiar with finger control, it's his general stroke technique (that's what she said) i'm curious about. His regular crash and snare hits seem to consist mostly of arm movement. I wonder if there's a particular philosophy behind it, sound, consistency, or if it's just what feels comfortable to him.
Mathijs Tieken It's still a wrist motion: there's some arm movement but it's involuntary. Speaking from personal experience, I use the same all wrist approach Travis Orbin teaches and I've had people comment that it looks like I use my whole arm to blast when I'm only consciously using my wrist. As far as philosophy goes, in my private lesson with Travis he said it was because he felt using his wrists gave him greater power, control and dynamics because it uses the larger muscle groups in the forearm.
Dude so sick ive been a fan for years. Your a major influence on my Drumming. Thanks for killing it in every way possible. I learn a lot by listening to the faceless. I'm going on 18 years of Drumming. Keep it coming my dude.
I got the chance to see him live on Tuesday in Sacramento and I also got to meet the guy! He's the reason I went to the show! Nicest person I've ever met and my idol, hands down. I was supposed to have a lesson with him but it didn't end up happening because of timing be he did give me a signed head plus more! -Erik Servin
I was so glad when i heard you had joined the Faceless, you're the perfect man for the job. Please make me even more glad when your drums sound exactly like this on the next album, don't let them hide the feeling you put into your playing by sound replacing your toms and snare! Would be criminal to hide feel like yours, power to the metal drummers!
Yeah people are very closed minded about music espescially if the dont play an instrument. When I started playing drums it opened up my musical taste so much..Alex got me into jazz and rock and I already loved metal but I cant thank him enough he is the biggest inspiration in my life..
Really enjoyed your show tonight in San Diego. I've been glued to your videos for months and was really excited to actually see you play with one of my favorite groups!
People don't even realize what they've just watched. I've been following Rudinger for years now and I'm here to say he is by far the best drummer in metal right now. Haake is a very close second.....not that my opinion matters ;)
Grimz' kul Lol pretty much. I've been playing drums for 8 years and the longer I play the more I realize how phenomenal this is. So much more than speed. His independence, precision and dynamics are unreal.
You're an awesome drummer I'm so glad you're in one of my favorite bands! You should defiantly put up a video of you playing Planetary Duality I and II :D
@The Truth of the Matter It is though. Anything he has on his right side of the kit, he has on the left. 2 hi hats, 2 splashes (though one is stacked), 2 crash, 2 rides, 2 chinas.
hey alex, just read about the doubles on the kick between 3:37 and 3:47 in the video description. if this was a statemant to my comment I posted months ago, Im the last person who would doubt your playing. I was just stunned about the fact, that you control the doubles that good. thats it. so keep up the AMAZING work!
Alex is insanely talented, puts countless hours into personal training and drum practice, plays with both ambition and technical prowess, and at the end of the day posts these videos for us to enjoy for free. What are you doing?
Awesome drumming as always Alex. Is it just me, or is being one of the baddest ass drummers alive, a requirement to play for this band? Every drummer to ever grace this band is off the charts. I could watch Facelees videos all day any day👍
This is genuinely one of the best modern metal songs every written. Like holy shit. I’ve watched this video for almost 10 years and it gets better.
at least half of these views are me.
ahhahaahhahaha
other half is me bro
How about 6 years later? 👀
😅

I agree Alex is a fucking fantastic drummer, I give all my respects.
Yeah I don't understand why fans of metal talk shit about each other especially when they are not players themselves.
Even bigger respect for Lyle for inventing the godlike drum tracks in the first place! Alex can play them very well but Lyle thought of them originally!

I know this is an Old Video, but Alex, You are a Monster on Drums. Keep this stuff coming.
Alex Rudinger can play in any band of the world.
You're goddamn right
Maybe not AC/DC
SLEDGE WOLF ac/dc is trash
@@Thriftxxxx yeah, he’s kidding.

Matt. Garstka.
Lyle Cooper
Alex, bro, you should cover some old school Faceless too like "An Autopsy" or something. & then BTBAM while you're at it c:
Everyone vote for what this guy says! Id love to see a video of Akeldama or Pestilence!
A full rendition of Telos, or Sun of Nothing.
A Leica cover would actually make me shit my pants.
Or some "Ghost of a stranger"
Definitely do some BTBAM... Lay your ghosts to rest?
he looks so happy while playing.
+GLC jonsan308 i would be too if i could play stuff like that
Seriously one of my favorite drummers to watch and listen to. Your snare always sounds fucking amazing too
dude is not human i've been playing for almost 15 years similar to the 1st DOWN (Nola) record watchin Alex is insane his blast beats & switching hands guys amazing

He's scarily precise, holy shit! I've been watching his videos for a while now, but man, he still impresses me!
Incredible drummer!

A classic. Killer work buddy!
I tend to auto hit that like button on all Alex drummings, dude is a unhuman like beast!

His smile during the breakdown is priceless (x amazing drummer!
Alex, you are the sickest drummer ever! i honestly joined youtube just to tell you that! Thanks for the inspiration!

***** Weird, it really seems like more of a forearm movement, i'll give it a try myself, thanks for the reply!
Mr. Rudinger you never fail to entertain me. That was awesome as always
Dude so sick ive been a fan for years. Your a major influence on my Drumming. Thanks for killing it in every way possible. I learn a lot by listening to the faceless. I'm going on 18 years of Drumming. Keep it coming my dude.

Perfect execution, I want to see Planetary Duality please! :3 Amazing!
Really enjoyed your show tonight in San Diego. I've been glued to your videos for months and was really excited to actually see you play with one of my favorite groups!
I find it abhorrent and an affront to my sensibilities that I can like this video only once. /sadface Thanks Alex. Stay well sir!

Insane... Flawless performance!
Please do Leica, watching you play and absolutely 100% nail them still blows my mind
I confirm my opinion : You Are The New King Of Drummers
Alex is an awesome dude. An is thee tightest live player I have ever see.
People don't even realize what they've just watched. I've been following Rudinger for years now and I'm here to say he is by far the best drummer in metal right now. Haake is a very close second.....not that my opinion matters ;)
Excellent cover!!!
Savage. One of my favorite Faceless tracks too!
Alex, decent dynamics for metal, impressive.
Decent? he is way better than most metal drummers I've seen.
I would sell my soul to be able to play like this.
Christofer Andersson you don't need to sell yrou soul, you just need fast fingers and triggers on your bass drums!
aaronrus You clearly have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Go back under your bridge!
Grimz' kul Lol pretty much. I've been playing drums for 8 years and the longer I play the more I realize how phenomenal this is. So much more than speed. His independence, precision and dynamics are unreal.
Dude, this is awesome. Just grab the rest of the guys and come to Portugal already
GAAHHD DAMNNED!!! the only way they were going to replace lyle is if he played like this… so very satisfied. VERY psyched to see him live.
That was incredible
mindblowingly good, sir!

Wow... That was incredible.... How is this possible??

-M-
You're an awesome drummer I'm so glad you're in one of my favorite bands! You should defiantly put up a video of you playing Planetary Duality I and II :D
Awesome job man. Hope to see around at one of your PA or NJ Shows!
Ahhhhh heavy AND complex...love it!
Love the transitioning of single double bass to heel toe doubles. Hella tight.
I like the dumbell in front of your left kick pedal, thanks for the idea mate!
I saw you kill it in Dallas last night with The Faceless! AWESOME SHOW!
Really amazing!!!
i love the mirrored kit. equal playability on both sides
@The Truth of the Matter It is though. Anything he has on his right side of the kit, he has on the left. 2 hi hats, 2 splashes (though one is stacked), 2 crash, 2 rides, 2 chinas.
Those drum heads have a hard life with you. Insane drumming
Watching Alex tear down The Faceless material makes me think that the universe actually did actually succeed in creating its very own masterpiece.
One of my favorite drummers in the world. Clean as shittt!!
Sorry I missed you in Calgary tonight, so choked it would have been an awsome show!
You should put up videos for every song off Planetary Duality. Such a great album
Such a smooth heel toe technique, love it.
Absolutely nailed it, and barely breaking a sweat. Fucking incredible.
THIS IS PERFECT !
I wish you guys were coming to Vegas!
Sick as usual!
I loved it!
hey alex, just read about the doubles on the kick between 3:37 and 3:47 in the video description. if this was a statemant to my comment I posted months ago, Im the last person who would doubt your playing. What are you doing?
You're the best drummer on the face of the planet
Cleanest footwork of any drummer.
Best metal drummer alive
Written and originally performed by Lyle Cooper. A drummer who cant get enough recognition for his mastery of the drums.
The transition at 3:20 gives me goosebumps every time!!
One of the best for sure. How would you even find someone to cover for him?
Guys a freakin' beast!!
Awesome drumming as always Alex. Is it just me, or is being one of the baddest ass drummers alive, a requirement to play for this band? Every drummer to ever grace this band is off the charts. I could watch Facelees videos all day any day👍
Mis respetos!! Yo los vi a the faceless en torreon mx!!
Still the best drummer on youtube.
Omg, Rudy does it again. It'll take weeks for my face to properly reconstruct itself, as it's been melted off.
perfect as usual
pure dopeness keep it up mate
You're a beast man!
