@@Existomalus people aren’t brutal enough to understand your comment. I’m here with you pal. And this is coming from someone who is a huggggggge fan of the faceless and Lyle Cooper
+Alex Z yeah that whole cd sounds off now that you mention it, the synth they used in some of the songs you can barely hear it, just sounds like emptyness where something should be.
Coming from a drummer, i'll say why Rudinger is better(Lyle is talented, don't get me wrong, but not near Alex's level). The thing with Lyle is, he kinda sloppy, he also throws way too many cymbals into the mix of things. Alex is clean, plays what is meant to be played and has a ridiculous adrenaline. This guy has a so/so adrenaline, he is weak with speed and cleanliness. There were some drum tracks that Alex wrote for The Faceless and Lyle learned them, but he was adding stuff that threw off the groove and feel of the song. Alex has also played multiple genres and incorporated those genres into his playing. The guy has more creativity and all around better playing.
+Kevin Young Alex Rudinger took no part in writing any of the Faceless's music according to the credits on the album. Alex Rudinger had a very short lived career with the faceless and I believe he composed absolutely no original music with The Faceless. Alex learned LYLE's parts. I don't know where you come up with this stuff but it's rather ridiculous.
Lyle Cooper is "weak with cleanliness"?! Are we watching the same video? Are we talking about the same Lyle Cooper? I saw The Faceless live with the Planetary Duality lineup, and it was the cleanest set by any metal band I've ever seen (and I've been to hundreds of shows). Even the members of other bands standing on the side were clearly blown away. Lyle plays the songs damn near perfectly. Also, you say he "adds too many cymbals"... this is a way of embellishing the song, not taking away from the song. Lyle almost plays progressive metal with a jazzy feel, which gives him the edge over the overly-robotic playing of Rudinger in my book.
That bass tone, gritty, throaty, crunchy, wholesome chest slamming, bone crunching thud. Christ. The drumming is phenomenal of course, we all know that, that's why we are here :D
The drumming is incredible, but some attention definitely needs to be directed at the vocalist; his live growls are *this* close to the studio version, which is absolutely astonishing.
1:14 is crazy, keeping time with the left foot on the hi-hat, gnarly groove on the kick with the right foot, ghost notes on the snare with left hand (in addition to those cymbal accents) and cymbal work on the right hand. ridiculous!!!
His facial expressions are so relatable. When you’re up there, you’re in a trance like state while also being aware of what you’re supposed to be playing. Nothing can describe the feeling of playing live. It’s an out of body experience.
Lyle Cooper is such a bad ass drummer! Im glad i had a chance to hangout with him and The faceless when he first got into the band. He was best friend with my friend so i got to go for free. Got to meet Vader too! Missed out on meeting White Chapel though
