TLDR: Emotionally abusive mothers are very hard to break from when you're in deep. To put into context. It's hard for a son being emotionally abused by their mother to break away. I know because it's happened to me. My mother is a controlling, narcissistic, and emotionally abusive woman. 8 years to 3 years ago my mother berated my choice in my wife for a myriad of her reasoning. She also verbally assaulted my wife on many occasion. I stood up for my wife, but I still wanted a relationships with my parents (A bad move, you see). I was emotionally conned by my entire family about 5 years ago and broke it off with my fiancé (now wife) one afternoon. Not even 3 hours after I was breaking down. I realized the mistake I made as the veil lifted when I was alone long enough to be with my own thoughts. I called my fiancé back and apologized for my behavior. I am, to this day, extremely thankful she took me back. She's a godsend of a woman for me. I broke all contact with my parents 3 years ago. I kept one email open in case they died, but I had sense closed that one down to due to the constant emotional abuse she kept trying.

(however i do acknowledge that she resolved it much better than the ex. I do hope there is some sort of fix, maybe not as a relationship, but then as people and slowly getting to, atleast, be friends in some way.)

As much as that 31 YEAR OLD MAN is at fault for not being able to stand up to his mother TO DEFEND HIS FUTURE WIFE, something about this smells heavily of consistent emotional abuse from his mother. OP should’ve cut complete contact from her mama’s boy of an ex because he shouldn’t have been able to call her after she moved out of the country. He willingly sided with his monstrous mother and broke OP’s heart. There’s no coming back from that. I’m glad that she slapped the shit out of him when he, and she shouldn’t have agreed to meet with and talk to him in the first place, squeezed her butt while they were hugging. For the first story, you have to realize that most men want to have kids of their own. Thats a need and a big want, if you cant provide that youre not really a suitible romantic partner for most men. Surrogacy is extremely dangerous for the mother and child - The child is also way more likely to have health issues, mentally and physically.

I can't help but think that Jack needs a call to Adult Protective Services, it's pretty obvious his mom is an abuser and has entrapped him, at this point probably with guilt about her injuries, in a situation where he genuinely feels like he'd be doing a moral wrong to cut her out.
His behavior REEKS of acting out in a cry for help once he realized he messed up, OP starting to pull away probably looked to him less like her just leaving after being mistreated and more like his perceived last chance to escape closing forever. For the first story, you have to realize that most men want to have kids of their own. Thats a need and a big want, if you cant provide that youre not really a suitible romantic partner for most men. Obviously doesnt mean the MIL can call you defective. But this is comparable to a guy being born short, most women dont want short guys. You just have to deal with reality.
