I had a viral onset, and my EBV IgM also reactivated at onset (I had EBV when I was 18 and had IgG antibodies). My EBNA was positive at onset and on 3 following blood tests. My IgG antibodies were always very high. My EA-D was negative then positive then negative. I likely had many other reactivations, but only was tested 4 times over 3 years. I took Valtrex for 11 months after the EA-D came back positive around a year in, but not sure if helped. 7 months after I got off them I had another acute IgM reactivation. I think the antivirals would have helped if I took it immediately in the first month. I ended up fully recovering from moderate ME/CFS though focusing on lifestyle, diet, and nervous system. It may have impacted my heart health from a congenital condition. For 3 years of my life it was like I had the flu 24/7 and I definitely think the EBV played a role. That said, the antivirals I begged my doctor for weren't my ticket out -- addressing my nervous system was.
Thank you ❤
