Took me forever to find a video like this to give me guidance on making something custom with a proper chassis mount. May be 6 years late but thank you!
By far best DIY splitter install I have seen and I am pretty sure I have watched them all now lol. Most people do the one like your original splitter which is mainly just for looks, maybe adds a tad down force, but this video..this is where it is at and all the others like this I have seen they used wood..which is common but I'm not a fan of the wood.
FYI too for the viewers ..that same abs plastic can be purchased at your local MENARDS STORE !! I know everyone has them in their states lol . Awesome diy bro! I’ll def be doing this with my STi
I did the dev sport splitter mod right after watched your vid long ago. Now this DIY mod is way more tempting. Great tutorial + video. Gotta do bIg brakes too which I am collecting parts for ATS Brembos lol.
Super cool! Are you gonna keep those canards in front of the wheels? The tires sticking out may be causing drag. I’ve seen people get angled ones that stick flush with the fitment in front of the wheels to combat that. I may be wrong I’m not super knowledgeable on the subject but something to consider! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for creating this video, looks awesome!!! I wanted to ask what length rods you bought? I'm planning to do the same. Going to add end plates like the verus ones but diy too haha
This is purely for show. It will create more drag then downforce. Splitter need to be bracket mounted to chassis. One hit on a curb, those front rods are going into your cooler. FYI large tires outside of the fenders create a huge amount of unsprung weight. More drag.
It would be alright for street use but if you're only using rods, I really wouldn't suggest standing on it personally and without end plates it will lose a lot of down force on the track. I know you're not too concerned about track use but if someone watching this video gets the idea to do the same for a track setup
so you build this where you can unbolt it if you have to work under the car right? im learning i want to build chassis mount splitter, wing, and rear diffuser for my 99 Eclipse so im checking out videos, Great job and great video it helps alot! thanks
Thats a high quality material. Is there any way to get that material thru online purchase? Im from las vegas, nv i dont think we have that store/place here.
Did you have to drill holes on the places you mounted the rods to the chassis? I want to do a chassis mounted splitter but dont know where to start looking for places to mount
You should Clear coat your Aluminum Rods, If you live up north, any salt will destroy them in just one winter season. I put KingShocks on my Ram 2500 and had to live in MD for 3 month for a Job and my Shocks look ugly as hell.
The rear is being help on by two bolts directly on to the chassis. These bolts and threads are used to attach the skid plate to the car and I accommodated the splitter to use them as well.
Professional plastics, ordered a 4x8 sheet that had to be shipped from california and it was $300 delivered. Its 3/8 inch abs plastic with one side in haircell design
Jonny The Car Doctor if you ever dig it into a pothole//curb//roadkill it will undoubtedly F that cooler setup all the way up. It may hold your weight with you applying a downward force but try hitting it with a sledge from the bottom or any off-angle smash, it won't be too pretty. I'd probably mount them independently like GT86GT400 was alluding to. ¢ 2 delivered.
SI RICKO well maybe you should let full blown know they named it wrong lol... fullblownmotorsports.com/full-blown-scion-frs-subaru-brz-catchcan-battery-tiedown
How is it not functional? Plenty of race teams use Alumalite and even Wood. As long as it holds strong under speed and has the proper angle relative to the road it will do what it's intended to do.

Who is watching this in 2022 and finding out that the prices have gone up to up to 300 bucks per 6x3 sheet 😭
By far the best DIY splitter I've seen on youtube. I'm definitely going to do something similar! Thanks!

Swoldier Jan my Menards doesn't have black, just clear.
Zach Pierce what? No black?!? What racists they must be! 😤
You have done it again, this is game changer man lol, I gotta get me a piece of that splitter material.
I did the dev sport splitter mod right after watched your vid long ago. Now this DIY mod is way more tempting. Great tutorial + video. Gotta do bIg brakes too which I am collecting parts for ATS Brembos lol.
swfaokk glad they helped!
Yeah, The router gave it a really nice finish. Looks good.
nice content - I suggest to offset the oil cooler out of the front of the intercooler, IAT will goes down
that looks amazing! Do you have another link to those splitter rods? link no worky now.
$107?! Those are 2018 prices. That same sheet of abs is $400 in 2022
Great link to the plastic..

They only came in one size: www.fullytorquedracing.com/aero.html

Simply beautiful. Form and function at its best 🖤
The best video of a custom made spliter !!!🔥🔥🔥🤘🏾
Best video so far in TH-cam 🚧⚠️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

makes me want to get an 86 lol just looking how nice yours is built
Your FRS is looking beautiful. keep up the great videos.
love the 86 videos, keep it up!
Almost 12k dude keep doing it man
This is amazing content dude! How have I not heard of it
mayb not attaching the cooler to your splitter.. if you hit something that might break off your splitter, it wont take your cooler away with it
Good job man.. looks good and the results are nice!
Limit the use of the word “ahead” - go ahead, went ahead, used wwaaaaaaayy too much, LOL!
Thats a high quality material. Is there any way to get that material thru online purchase? Im from las vegas, nv i dont think we have that store/place here.
It looks like the FTR rods are discontinued, what other high quality rods do you recommend?
can you send me a link for the ABS plastic? Or at least tell me the thickness and where I could get it?
Did you drill holes into the bumper brace?
Damn good job. Where do I order rods
www.fullytorquedracing.com/
What are the lengths for the rods you used? You mentioned one length of 12".
Great job man! That's awesome work!
How much would you charge to make one? Lol. I cant find no plastics around my area. And its arm n leg for shipping the abs
Romario Smith no fr please
Nice job bro!
Im interested in how the handling is after this, and a better view with the bumper on would be nice. Keep up the good work man.
Was in a tight space when filming, just have a few more things to do before I take it out to try.
What kind of bolts/ hardware did you use exactly to attach the splitter to the subframe?
What length are these if you remember, thanks in advance.
Nicely done.
Great video man
Nice build props for the DIY are those FYR rods?
Hah you answered my question later in the vid
What tool did you use to cut those thick abs plastic? Thanks
Car is nice man.
this one was amazing man! turned out great!
What’s the thickness and size of the sheet ??
Sweat video I’m gonna definitely make one for my evo now!
Did you have to drill holes on the places you mounted the rods to the chassis? I want to do a chassis mounted splitter but dont know where to start looking for places to mount
I used the bolts used for the skid plate and used longer bolts threaded to these to hold the rear portion on the splitter and the rods for the front.
Jonny The Car Doctor did you drill holes to the chassis, or did you find existing holes to attach the rods through?
I didn't make any new holes, I used the threaded holes used to mount the skid plate without removing the skid plate.
Does the splitter also cover your oil pan?
It does not cover the oil pan, that would make changing your oil more difficult.
Splitter mounts done right!
do you have any idea how thick the sheet of abs plastic was that you used?
3/8" inch thick ABS
what is the thickness of that sheet? i found some on amazon that is 3/16.
Ah, 3/8. i can't find anything that thick.
Inspired to do this to my car now thanks! 👍
Do those rods get rusty over time?
Haven't had any rust on these, still look good.
You should Clear coat your Aluminum Rods, If you live up north, any salt will destroy them in just one winter season. I put KingShocks on my Ram 2500 and had to live in MD for 3 month for a Job and my Shocks look ugly as hell.
What grade abs was this bro? Looking to buy off there website
I understand that the rods is holding it really well but how did you do it to the point that it doesn't swing back and forward?
The rear is being help on by two bolts directly on to the chassis. These bolts and threads are used to attach the skid plate to the car and I accommodated the splitter to use them as well.
This mod looks clean !!
Cheapest I’ve found this stuff was 500 a sheet (4x8) here in California, any suggestions?
Professional plastics, ordered a 4x8 sheet that had to be shipped from california and it was $300 delivered. Its 3/8 inch abs plastic with one side in haircell design
Hi, where do you buy the plastic?
what length rods did you use for this? thanks
What rods where those?
Can you stand on it? is it strong?
Bro, watch the video. I stand on it.
Interstate plastics wants $358 to ship a $83 piece of plastic, lol!
Looks Good but do not mount the cooler to it. It will do not well in a Crash.
I don't think anything does good in a high speed crash, but the objective isn't to crash test it so it should be good.
Jonny The Car Doctor if you ever dig it into a pothole//curb//roadkill it will undoubtedly F that cooler setup all the way up. I use the same splitter rods on my crx si on my channel. Why are you installing a catch can when you already have one ?
I need a vented catch can for a turbo setup, this is for an na setup.
Jonny The Car Doctor oh you mean a breather can ok. Breathers and catch can are totally different.
SI RICKO Its still called a catch can, I will be removing the one I have and replacing it with the Full Blown catch can the vents to atmosphere.
Jonny The Car Doctor sorry my man but no it’s not it’s called a breather can. Lol why do some people call them a catch catch can idk lol
SI RICKO well maybe you should let full blown know they named it wrong lol... fullblownmotorsports.com/full-blown-scion-frs-subaru-brz-catchcan-battery-tiedown
Sweet
THANK U FOR SHARING THIS REALLY HELP
Love it man.... i might just make one.
Nice
Wow this is amazing
Where do you find this ABS plastic sheet??
Plastic companies. I used professional plastics.
Can you stand on it?
18:30
17:55 is just as impressive lmao
Jonny The Car Doctor what’s the thickness and size of the sheet in need of one !!! Thanks !!
Wow, would u help out to make and sell?
Can you make one for me? I would suppose it would depend on your location
If your in AZ, yes. You'll need need to bring your car to properly test fit.
Dang all bad I'm in California.. thank you tho?
Let get your old splitter
If you are interested in selling those front splitters as a kit I am interested not so much time and skill here to manufacture them
I have already sold a few, but only local to AZ.
Jonny The Car Doctor if you are willing to ship to FL let me know send me an email to yassiririzarry@gmail.com with your price. Thanks!
wtf you mounted oil coller in front of intercooler;/
Non functional
as a physics engineer it looks very functional to me.
How is it not functional? Plenty of race teams use Alumalite and even Wood. As long as it holds strong under speed and has the proper angle relative to the road it will do what it's intended to do.
Leave him alone guys he just likes his eBay 3m tape splitter.
He's right in a way unless he's tracking the car then yeah the splitter is pretty useless but if he is then cool it's functional
Jonny which rod size did you use? Thanks!
