I liked Legends of Wrestling 2 a lot. I still liked Showdown, but I felt like it went backwards on some things. Where as 2 was just a straight up improvement.
Fans of the vehicular combat "genre"? I remember there being an underwater combat game as well. WWF trying to cash in. lol. Chuck Palumbo had a car in that game. Roster must of been thin for a semi-jobber to get a spot.
For the original X-Box, I can't remember if it was Raw or Raw 2 that was sooooooooooooooooooooo incredibly buggy. Among the many other problems, when you did a CAW, you picked someone to be your rival, and if your rival did a run-in during a title match and you still managed to win the match, your rival would end up winning the championship. After that I just went back to playing No Mercy for a good long while.
Don't forget that before WWF: In Your House, there was another Mortal Kombat inspired WWF game in arcades and later ported to home consoles. Not only was it really good, but it was actually made by Midway, the same guys who made Mortal Kombat.
Depends on which version of WWE 2K15 you're talking about. Last Gen (PS3 and 360) was basically a carbon copy of 2K14. The only good thing about the Current Gen version was it's gameplay. Everything else sucked because 2K removed ALOT of stuff from the game such as Match Types, Match Creator, Custom Soundtracks (not really their fault), removed all of the preset entrances that came from previous games, the roster was lackluster, Universe Mode wasn't that good, etc.
i think the host of this video or you got it bit mixed up with the Arcade version. BECAUSE the Arcade version... let me tell you.. WAS or IS awesome. The Arcade version you run towards the ring and face multiple opponents in a tournament style where you even face up to two wrestlers at a time. The version he showed in this video seemed for the console only.
i really liked the Simpsons wrestling(PS1) it was good for it's time.......... i think i was like 5 so this may just be a "this was part of my childhood so it's awesome" things for me
No, it was horrible, because it was GLITCHY as hell. I can remember going outside the ring, then when I went back inside I got stuck halfway down the ring with only my head poking out of the canvas and not being able to even move
The ultimate x match was very glitchy with Aj styles x...he could take down the x by just draining half the meter...60 precent of the games roster were randoms that look like wwe CAWs and the story mode was god awful
tna impact deserved to be here it was awful. action movie story(really?)bad roster(most of them were random caws)limited moves and matches also repetitive matches
gotta say crush hour and the backyard wrestling games were two of my favorite games as a kid lol backyard wrestling was targeted at people who like JCW (Juggalo Championship Wrestling) and fans of the label psychopathic records
Okay right but that kid giving us a middle finger at 4:45 has the Carolina Hurricanes badge on his jacket. Well that's been photo shopped because the original photo was actually taken just prior to the 2002 UEFA cup final between Feyernoord and Dortmund so in reality, it should have the Feyernoord badge. To be honest, I'm just impressed you managed to find one with the Canes badge. The video was good, that just made me pause for a second haha
I had it on PS2 AND then Got it on PS3 because it was at a yardsale for $1 and IT WAS WAY BETTER THEN THE PS2 version I paid 30 bucks for that I couldn't even get them to do any moves but on PS3 AT least I could play it about half anyway. Still a SHIT GAME even on 360 wish they would make another and fix it
Negative lists like these are always going to bring some contraversy, but as a big video game and wrestling fan, I wanted to let you all know that some of these games are definitely worth your time. Backyard Wrestling 1/2 - The first game was pretty good, but the sequel is amazing. Skip the first one and go buy the sequel. It has a decent roster, some customisation, great environments with lots of weapons, and a clever control system that really rewards practice. WWF In Your House - I can't pretend that this is a great game, let alone a great wrestling game, but it's a fun and cheesy arcade game from an era when wrestling was mostly still cheesy and fun. This one is definitely worth a quick blast now and then. WWE Aftershock - I can't comment on this one because it's the only one on this list I haven't played. It does look pretty dire and I can't see anything here that makes me want to change that. WWF Betrayal - I love traditional beat 'em ups and thought that this was a great concept to do something different with these characters. Unfortunately it's pretty dull. I'd avoid this unless you can play it for free for about 10 minutes. Wrestlemania 21 - I pretty much agree with everything Simon said here. It looks great but controls dreadfully. WWE Crush Hour - This one is great! A Twisted Metal game with WWE characters. It comes from that magic era roster-wise like Here Comes the Pain, so we get just about every major player of the 90s/00s here. Each wrestler has a vehicle that represents their gimmick and personality. It doesn't have wrestling in, but just looking at the box, videos etc. makes that obvious. The storyline of Vince taking over TV is somewhat prophetic now that we have WWE Network, and Jim Ross even does commentary. Just go and get this game. WCW Mayhem - It's not a bad game, but it's only mediocre. There are better games out there, so this one is really only for collectors who have to own everything. Legends of Wrestling - This is another one he nails spot on. An amazing concept, looks great, and plays dreadfully. The Simpsons Wrestling - I don't understand why people fault the visuals. It looks amazing, just like playing an episode of The Simpsons. The game, however, really is terrible. It's not a wrestling game - it's a fighter set in a ring, and has some of the worst controls of any game ever. This really is an unplayable mess. WCW Backstage Assault - This game's negative reviews are really over the top. The controls aren't perfect, and it has no rings (as stated in the title), but it has a huge roster of WCW wrestlers not found in any other game and some fun wacky violence. It's not a great game, but worth a try.
Yea and IT is 100 times better then say Tag team wrestling or Wrestlemania on the NES. Even Back then they were TRASH but i liked 21 when it came out Now I have to play it again and see.
YES RIght you are And I spend 40 bucks on it thinking My Wrestling game would be better then my friends Tag Team Wrestling that just SUCKED SOOO BAD TOO but then I got that damn wrestlemainia and it Sucks too just like Tag team wrestling. ALL I wanted back then was Matmainia at home and Now I have on my ps4 and I bought a SUPER Retrobit since that is on there Plus I stuck every wrestling game Ever made on my super Retrobit . the Thing ROCKS for Only $60 too
I rented the game and played it in a week. Since I was little and anything with the Simpsons or Wrestling would shut me up, this would be perfect. After that week, I slowly began to realize what I played and what I got into. And I haven't seen a copy of it since.
I think Smackdown versus Raw 2009 deserves to be on there it was the Pinnacle of what I call these stupid era in WWE games. you're extremely limited the female superstars had less than half the customization options as male Superstars the only participate in the single most basic forms of matches and even though you can create a championship it could not be held by female champion
Not sure I agree with Number 9. WWF In Your House is, like, a beta version of WWF WrestleMania The Arcade Game. It is the same thing as IYH, just more polished and better - an over-the-top fighting game with a wrestling theme. Horrible wrestling game? Yes, technically. Actually really fun arcade fighting game? I have a confession to make. I own both Rumble Roses and the sequel Rumble Roses XX. I think they're pretty good wrestling games, but I have some gripes with XX. For one, they removed the story mode for each wrestler. Two, they removed a mud wrestling ring. I had so many ideas on what they could do for a third game, if they ever did make one, that I wrote them down and posted them on Deviant Art; titling it Third Rumble Roses game ideas. True story. All of it.
Uru And what exactly is entertaining about two jackasses pretending to beat each other up? If they did it for real, now that would be cool. I don't watch fake shit for entertainment.
Clearly never watched wrestling before. Wrestling is all plot based, its called a story line, and calling them "sweaty retards" is a massive stretch, wrestling is one of the most physically demanding activities on the planet. Hurling insults? Its called a promo and its a mechanism used to tell a story outside of the in ring action. "I dont watch fake shit for entertainment" so the only thing you watch is sport? Because im pretty sure movies and TV shows aren't real either you absolute moron. Get a clue.
Mitchell Pharaoh Oh yes, I'm sure the "plot' of a wrestling match is just as deep as, let's say, Schindler's List. Clearly it's quality entertainment... for morons who can barely count to 5. It makes perfect sense someone like you would enjoy it.
Azariachan it's clear that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, so the more you comment about something you have no idea about the stupider you're looking...
You know what really kills me the fact that everybody says WWF in your house was the worst game but you never say nothing about WWF WrestleMania arcade which was the same thing as in your house just different wrestlers
I just want to say thank you to WhatCulture for not immediately taking the route that so many have with a worst wrestling games ever list. By that I mean they didn't just throw a list of handheld titles at you like most TH-camrs who tackle the subject do. To me, handheld ports should be omitted from such a list. Handheld ports are always sh**, so it goes without saying. There's no need to pad out an entire list with them. As for this video in particular...y'know...I actually quite enjoyed the Backyard Wrestling titles. They might not have been the best wrestling games ever, but they had their moments - and no, I'm not talking about the sex appeal aspect. They had one major aspect to them that most other wrestling games never did since or before - unparalleled environmental interaction. There was nothing you couldn't do in those stages, and those games had some AWESOME stages. I also liked the rosters as well, which included a mix of Psychopathic acts/rappers like ICP and Twiztid and real life hardcore/extreme wrestlers like Vampiro, New Jack, and Sandman. They might not have been the best or most technically sound wrestling games ever, but they weren't meant to be. They were just fun little romps, and I still plug them in from time to time.
Those Backyard Wrestling games were pretty good. Almost everything in the environment was interactive. My favourite being the weed whacker. Still got all the dvds too.
I loathed Acclaim from the second I played one of their over-hyped, underwhelming games like the NES Wrestlemania, Rambo or any of the Simpsons games, so when they finally lost the WWF license and AKI was going to be developing WWF games I cried tears of joy. The era of flipper hands, laughable animations and controls that were a chore to utilize was dead, right? Surely a completely different company wouldn't come along and make the same mistakes? When Mayhem hit and everyone had the same moves, the controls were broken, the animations were shit and everyone stood around looking like they were pushing invisible shopping carts I was in awe. Mayhem was the last WCW game I bought without renting it or previewing it first.
IMO Smackdown vs Raw 2008 was pretty shit. It had a season mode where if you were given 2 choices and picked one the game would act as if you'd picked the other. There's a storyline where Stephanie McMahon falls in love with your character and eventually wants to marry you but Vince and Shane don't approve and attack you before the wedding making Stephanie think you've stood her up causing her to want revenge on you. There's another one where the McMahons are trying to get you to give up the WWE or World Heavyweight titles depending on which brand you're on and you're given the choice whether to give the title up or not but even if you choose not to give it up the game acts like you've chosen to give it up anyway.
I would say that WWF Attitude and Warzone, both on PS1, belong on this list, but I'm genuinely unsure if they've simply aged badly, or if they were even bad for their time. Anyone else have either of these two?
Really? No NES WWF games?!?!?!? All of those turds were much, much worse than anything on this list. Go play them and see for yourself. Spend a half hour with ANY of them and you will WISH you were playing the games on this list.
1) Fandango is great
2) Legends of Wrestling is also great. Fight me.
Ryan Wadsworth Showdown Legends of Wrestling is pretty good but the first one is meh
Ryan Wadsworth legends of wrestling is awesome
Fandango > Roman Reigns
I liked Legends of Wrestling 2 a lot. I still liked Showdown, but I felt like it went backwards on some things. Where as 2 was just a straight up improvement.
I was going to complain too until I remembered it was LOW2 that I had after they fixed all the stuff.
Backyard wrestling wasn't meant to be taken seriously it was for pure enjoyment.
That's no excuse for a shit game, though. It was practically unplayable.
Chris Peckford he didn't say that as an excuse. he just replied to the guy in the video repetitively saying how WWE should have been taken seriously
Bryan George I agree
it wasn't even that
Unplayable due to gameplay gets old real quick.
As a 6 year old child I found the simpsons wrestling game amazing and I am offended deeply by your comments of it
same I still play it sometimes lol because I'm a gigantic Simpsons fan
Sean Rowley Your nostalgia is meaningless.
same here
Ellis Scott I'm life?
Sean Rowley fuck you Sam, this Was a really cool game
umm. I actually enjoyed playing WWE Crush Hour
you aren't alone
Thanks
Zay Bolt i liked it too
I played it so much xD
i had the same comment
This is so crazy lmao. I enjoyed most of these games growing up as a kid ahahaha
Who is Crush Hour for? People who want to play Twisted Metal but is unable to obtain Twisted Metal.
Twisted metal was the best
Hunter Red haha yea and I'm a die hard twisted metal fan :)
Fans of the vehicular combat "genre"?
I remember there being an underwater combat game as well.
WWF trying to cash in.
lol. Chuck Palumbo had a car in that game. Roster must of been thin for a semi-jobber to get a spot.
The roster in 2003 was one of the largest in history. It's the entire reason the brand split happened in the first place.
I played it because I am/was a super fan of WWE.
I loved Backyard wrestling...and I had an N Gage 🙈😩😩😂☺️
BYW was great i played byw 1 the most.
I had an N Gage too. And I had WWE Aftershock. It was as bad as they say, if not worse.
BYW was stupid and I loved... cause I was 12 and thought ICP were cool
dude I'm a grown ass man with a job (in construction,) a house and a life I still love ICP
BYW...I had fun with it growing up, dunno if I'd like it today though.
Love this guy's voice, he reminds me of Miller from Videogamer.com
Doctor Yak It is.
Maximilian Raptor DUN DUN DUUUUUÙUUUN
Yak yeah and also he's name is also Simon miller
He is miller
Everyone just got whoosed
Don't forget that before WWF: In Your House, there was another Mortal Kombat inspired WWF game in arcades and later ported to home consoles. Not only was it really good, but it was actually made by Midway, the same guys who made Mortal Kombat.
i loved simpson wrestling when i was a kid xD
One good thing I remember about WcW Mayhem, was you could actually make invisible wrestlers! I don't remember how, but come on that was kinda cool!
How are WCW Nitro and WCW Thunder are not on this list? I'd also swap WWF War Zone in as well
Jason TWFS Bassett agreed, mayhem is a bit clunky but it's At least some what playable. Nitro and Thunder suck...
Swap Mayhem for WWF War Zone, Attitude and the ECW games.
TheHero MegaGalladec
As sad as it is, WWE Wrestlemania 21 was the game that got me into wrestling games. I loved it when I was little!
You're lucky there wasn't a MDickie game on this list, otherwise I would've gone full Negan on you.
TeamNexusDE no there actually the best moble wrestling games out there
TeamNexusDE #ComicNeganisbetter
Mobile? I usually play his games on PC.
TeamNexusDE I like the MDickie games to
MDickie makes one of the best budget games
I loved Wrestle Mania 21 xD My 1st game ever idk I just really enjoyed it
Simpsons wrestling was THE BEST.
Shaggy Rogers agreed
AGREED
Especially the Flanders dude...pure epicness
yes it was
Nice Nostalgia goggles
Raw 1/2? TNA Impact? Wii version of SvR 2008? AAA Heroes del Ring?
Hey, You leave Raw 1/2 out of this. They were fun for their time.
ColeYote SvR 08 on wii was fine.
ColeYote raw 1 can stay but leave raw 2 out of it
this list hurts me. Simpsons Wrestling and WCW Mayhem were games I played the shit out of in my younger days.
WWE 2K15 should have been on the list instead of In Your House, at least In Your House was FUN.
TremendousPuppy 2K15 was awful I agree but as a wrestling game cmon it was amazing for a next gen game
The Architect Smackdown: Just Bring It did much better as a next-gen game.
Besides, the graphics for 2K15 are diarrhea compared to SVR 2006.
WWE 2K15 was great fun. imo.
Almighty King 2K16 was shit? lol you've never really played it didn't you?
Thought wwe 2k15 woulda been on this
Josh reilly I agree
Also, that really shitty PS4 wrestling with a bunch of knockoffs. Regenesis or some shit.
I liked that knock off game lol
Josh reilly was just going to say that. It had an anemic roster and a small match selection.
Josh reilly still better than the likes of CoD and FIFA!
in your house was fun. your trippen bro.
^^^^^^you're
I'm An EC3 Guy ok 👌
Sage Ali thank you
JohnACorp782 thank you
i think the host of this video or you got it bit mixed up with the Arcade version. BECAUSE the Arcade version... let me tell you.. WAS or IS awesome. Call me crazy but I'd still rather play WrestleMania 21 over WWE 2k15.
2K15 is the same as 2K16.
Just more characters.
TheChrisPhoenix crazy
The WrestleMania games were perfect, starting with XVIII.
@@jonathanhannah4 God, no... that was one of the best multiplayer games on GC.
The Backyard Wrestling games were/are very UNDERRATED!
I actually liked the Backyard Wrestling games.
I got tna impact and I found it impossible to play
Cyphyxia The Cybergoddess it was pretty easy also as a wrestling game it was fun to play especially with friends or siblings
No, it was horrible, because it was GLITCHY as hell. I can remember going outside the ring, then when I went back inside I got stuck halfway down the ring with only my head poking out of the canvas and not being able to even move
Cyphyxia The Cybergoddess That was a great game.

That Simpsons game looks like the biggest piece of ass ever.
I personally loved WWE Crushed Hour
Simpsons Wrestling... how fucking dare you Simon, an integral part of my childhood.
I liked wcw Mayhem and wcw assault
Damn, wcw mayhem brings back some good memories
Crush hour isn't really a wrestling game
Per se
4:40
So.....WWE Twisted Metal.
then forgot about WWF Royal Rumble on the Dreamcast
Agreed!
I think people forget about the dreamcast altogether
I had this game: good gameplay ... but it was so barebone.
I remember LOW being pretty good. Maybe I'm remembering it through a haze of nostalgia, but I think I liked it at the time.
Hey, I loved the WWF In your house game....
CRUSH HOUR WAS GOOD :o
It's weird to hear that people hate Simpsons Wrestling. How do you not love Moe throwing Flaming Moes and Flanders flinging lightning at opponents?
I think Celebrity Deathmatch for ps1 was worse than Simpsons Wrestling
Had no idea they made a port of that for PSone!
gotta say crush hour and the backyard wrestling games were two of my favorite games as a kid lol backyard wrestling was targeted at people who like JCW (Juggalo Championship Wrestling) and fans of the label psychopathic records
As a 7 year old I actually liked Simpsons wrestling.
Betrayal was total crap lol
Ok
There's no way Mayhem is worse than Thunder.
AGREED
ThreeEyedPea yeah exactly mayhem was fun thunder sucks
ThreeEyedPea WWE mayhem is sick what u on about ;-;
FloGaming talking about wcw mayhem
Okay right but that kid giving us a middle finger at 4:45 has the Carolina Hurricanes badge on his jacket. So was TNA impact was bad or not?
Nah it was good, but there is better.
Khalid Richardson it was alright not great and not bad but i found it enjoyable
It was terrible. The only good thing about that game was it's graphics.
PS3 version was actually far inferior to 360's version.
I had it on PS2 AND then Got it on PS3 because it was at a yardsale for $1 and IT WAS WAY BETTER THEN THE PS2 version I paid 30 bucks for that I couldn't even get them to do any moves but on PS3 AT least I could play it about half anyway. I have Wrestlemania 21.
Yea and IT is 100 times better then say Tag team wrestling or Wrestlemania on the NES. Even Back then they were TRASH but i liked 21 when it came out Now I have to play it again and see.
I literally fucked with every single one of these except Crush Hour growing up lmao
i love crush hour, i still play it today :D
WhoElseButWizZ same
Jim Ross is spinning in his grave after having to say lines like, "Trish Stratus grabbed the twisty rockets!"
So...somehow I have wwf in your house. Never played it. Now I will.
i enjoyed simpsons wrestling as a kid.
First off, crush hour was a twisted metal clone, second off, I really like it
You could say these are... Shit Wrestling Games For Wanker
#shitwrestlinggamesforwankers
Simon,You Look Like Johny Sins
1. wwe 2k15
I'm surprised Wrestlemania for the NES wasnt on this list. Easily one of the worst wrestling games.

i didnt enjoy it
I know why it's horrible. It's because Phoenix Games is behind it.
The Simpsons wrestling was amazing, I fucking loved it
i hated simpsons wrestling when i was little.

I rented the game and played it in a week. Since I was little and anything with the Simpsons or Wrestling would shut me up, this would be perfect. After that week, I slowly began to realize what I played and what I got into. And I haven't seen a copy of it since.
I used to love it. I played it so much
Come on Simon, Crush Hour is one of the most entertaining games ever
Ikr
Couldn't we just put every WWE game on this list
Jason Miller ...
Name one you think is good one and I can tell you all the reasons why it's bad, mainly the controls in all of them just suck
Can't you change the controls?
Frostbitegaming I can't make them more responsive no matter what I bind the keys to
Jason Miller Oh mines was always responsive. Except for for the game WWE 12.
All of this just reminds me more and more of how absolutely stunning 2k17 looks and represents the brand. Even with the insane glitches
His review is shittier than these games.....
THAT'S IT
I think Smackdown versus Raw 2009 deserves to be on there it was the Pinnacle of what I call these stupid era in WWE games. you're extremely limited the female superstars had less than half the customization options as male Superstars the only participate in the single most basic forms of matches and even though you can create a championship it could not be held by female champion
Matt Smith who gives a shit

ok we dont need an article
Not sure I agree with Number 9.
WWF In Your House is, like, a beta version of WWF WrestleMania The Arcade Game.

YOU JUST MADE THE LIST !

I found both WWF No Mercy and WCW Backstage Assault at a local media store. No Mercy was $5, Assault was $20...
Backyard Wrestling 2 should have been number 1.
i loved Crush Hour, its one of my childhood games
Ikr
+Legend KillaBRAND i still play it sometimes on the ps2 or gamecube.
Yeah me 2 last time i played wus 5 months ago still luv it tho
Backyard Wrestling wasn't that bad
I can't believe Hulk Hogan's Main Event for the xbox was not included on this list. That one was really THE wrestling game ever.

"...and I bet it was THIS. LITTLE. NIGGA RIGHT HERE!" 😂 That guy cracked me up in that episode!
I know u had Simpsons in the thumbnail. But really screw you. The Simpsons wrestling game is one of the best games ever made. I love it.
The funniest thing about the WrestleMania 21 game is it doesn't even have the FREAKING WRESTLEMANIA 21 STAGE IN IT.
Matt Cross can always say that he was on the cover of a wrestling game before Rollins, Cena, Punk, Bryan, Roman, Aj...
Both Backyard Wrestling games, WWF Betrayal, WWE Crush Hour were all pretty good.
"demolition darby" holy British, Batman!
edit: 7:57, THAT. is Sid Vicious?!
i loved crush hour
was a nice game for us wrestling and twisted metal fans
I feel like I'm the only person who enjoyed In Your House. 2K15 should have replaced it in this list tbh
Wrestlemania 21 was dope af. Chris Benoit, Booker T, Rey Mysterio. Good times playing hell in a cell matches lol
I AM YOUR 300,000 SUBSCRIBER WHAT CULTURE GAMING!!!!!!
I would say that WWF Attitude and Warzone, both on PS1, belong on this list, but I'm genuinely unsure if they've simply aged badly, or if they were even bad for their time. Anyone else have either of these two?
as a 6 year old backyard wrestling had a fun character creator, can't remember the actual game now as a 18 year old
I spent a fairly large portion of my childhood playing Simpsons Wrestling.
Good times.
WWE Crush Hour, The Simpson's Wrestling, Backstage Assault, and the Backyard Wrestling games were awesome
Backstage Assault also had a huge chunk of the roster locked from the start which just made the whole experience even worse.
Really? No NES WWF games?!?!?!? All of those turds were much, much worse than anything on this list. Go play them and see for yourself. Spend a half hour with ANY of them and you will WISH you were playing the games on this list.
I like The Simpsons wrestling when I was a kid :(
WCW Backstage Assault should of been on this list.
It was number 1
