I've been a Trek fan for a half century, and I've enjoyed the various series and films but damn, DS9 really was terrific. Overly melodramtic at times even hamy but the stories and special effects very well done. A very enjoyable program.
And so Odo heals the false deities who genetically engineered and controlled the Jem'Hadar army of conquest, guaranteeing an entire quadrant of the galaxy remains enslaved by them for millennia to come. Thanks Odo! 👍
What happened to Cardassia in the aftermath of The Dominion War is very analogous to the utter devastation of Germany, and Japan at the end of World War II, and it was not easy for them to learn to be peaceful, and forge non-militaristic governments, and cultures. Although, perhaps future series could depict Cadassia to be something re-organized like how Germany and Japan showed they could still dominate the world through better technology, and the economic cornerstone of free trade alliances such as The E.U. Maybe the Ferengi, and The Federation would show them how to get that process started. Certainly, the military industrial guilds, The Zabatsu in Japan ended up re-organizing from military production to commercial production quite efficiently such as Mitsubishi making engines for fighter planes, and instead focusing on high quality automobile production after the war.
Odd part is that Sisko is in a non linear realm so he can do everything he needs to with the prophets then return back into corporeal form at any time. Literally no reason he couldnt reappear back faster than the time it would take for him to use waste extraction. But that would kill the mysticism so some things best left unexplained

to answer your question, he didn't. DS9 ends with Kira and Jake looking out a window, while the rest of the crew have scattered to their new assignments. Since it was the last TNG storyline until Picard came out I said they should have started a new series called "Star Trek DS9: The Next Generation's Voyages" and had everybody that wanted to be on it from all 3 series (I don't talk about Enterprise) on it. I even had storyline for the first episode written out, ready to go.
Fun Fact: The Tuxedo Odo worse for his good by and his return to the link was rented. It was ruined in the scene and it cost half the budget for that season. Those 599.00 dollars could have made the visuals much better but they decided on doing it this way.
