    Thanks so much. My brother & I changed his alternator on his mustang thanks to this video. It was our first time swapping it out and your video was extremely helpful. We had the laptop under the hood pausing your video and following it step by step lol

    Good vid! Just did alternator swop on an 05. Main bolts were stuck. But a little shot of PBBlast fixed that. Hardest thing was the plug. as for the belt routing, no sweat. Just go rib-to-rib, smooth-to-smooth.

      It looks like desert roads there, must be a nightmare to keep your sweet ride clean, its bad enough with regular rds. I live on the east coast but never drive in winter. my 2011 mustang never seen snow or salt but my aluminum hood is bubbling at the edge. I'm furious ford will not fix it its a known problem with ford since 2005. if anyone has this problem google ford corrosion issues, you have to get a lawyer to sue ford to fix but no guarantee it wont come back. I don't think ill own another ford after how I been treated by ford, they don't care about their customers.

      I have a option to buy alternator remanufactured from NAPA for 300 and lifetime warrenty, and install myself, or get garage to do it for 350 but they give only 12mnds warrenty and its also remanufactured. I be going with life time warrenty option and thanks to your video install myself ;)

    Your new alternator slid in really easy, but mine got stuck. It looks like I had to slide both slots through at the same time. Now I can’t move it cuz it’s stuck half way! Lol

    • @jacobanderson3768
      @jacobanderson3768  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rodney Gonzalez
      Oh shoot! What the heck? Can you W-D40 it? Not the regular kind but the silicon lubricant.

    • @rodneygonzalez6977
      @rodneygonzalez6977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jacob anderson so I looked up on it some more, and it looks like it’s common issue, because the brackets warp slightly to the original alternator. So a couple of good whacks with a rubber mallet where the brackets go through and it slid down. I didn’t see any damage on the threading either. So in case anyone else goes through this maybe it’ll help.

    • @rodneygonzalez6977

    What kind of exhaust system do you have? It sounds like a gt...

    • @jacobanderson3768
      @jacobanderson3768  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edvandro Cruz
      The answer is simple:
      I have no idea.....
      it came with the car. But base on my findings, it's been welded together by someone who knew what he as doing.
      this custom exhaust is unlike any other I've ever heard on a 2005-2009 V6 Mustang.

  • @the1spyderryder
    @the1spyderryder 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok why did you take the air duct off the intake, was it to make it easier for the camera to see? I just changed my 2005 and it took more time to get the connector off the alternator , than to remove the bolts and nuts. My mustang had a shield over the alternator, the only function that i can think of is to keep water out of it, but on the other hand it seems it would keep air from cooling it, and make it more prone to damage due to heat build up.

    • @jacobanderson3768
      @jacobanderson3768  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coy Hilron
      Removing the intake made it easier reach in and to see. Yeah, that plug can be a total pain, but using dielectric grease on the locking part of it will make sure it doesn't get stuck, and it'll also water proof a little.

    • @jacobanderson3768
      @jacobanderson3768  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I removed the engine cover because I'm always modifying something in there.

      jacob anderson thanks, i found after screwing with the connector for 20 minutes, that if i took my glasses off ....lol i could see that sliding a small screw driver beside the connector, not in the hole , it came off very easy... lol
      Great looking car!

      those bolts don't need to be very tight. maybe 10-15lbs of torque?

    • @jacobanderson3768
      @jacobanderson3768  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the positive cable to the alternator even less. probably 7lb

      when you say the two bolts are 1 half at 1:24 do you mean 1 1/2 inch for the socket size? I am going to be doing this 2maro for my brother

    • @jacobanderson3768
      @jacobanderson3768  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Renownedd Official
      the socket size is 1/2
      Think about it as: two halfs would be a whole. I said it was a only one half, so it's one of these .5

    Apparently there's a problem with the Mustangs between the years 05 and 14 V6 & GT.
    ebay.com/itm/2005-2014-GT-4-6-V6-4-0-Mustang-Clutch-piece-replacement-Stainless-Steel-/162419388363?nav=SELLING_ACTIVE
    If you've got a manual, AKA stick shift:
    There's a plastic piece that will break on you and it can happen anytime anywhere!
    I just happen to have a few made out of steel,
    Do yourself a favor and get one and throw it in the trunk,
    because you are going to need it
