I watched 2 other 5-10 minute videos before coming across yours. After watching your 39 minute, informative, detailed, well edited video just once the night before, I was able to replace my 2006 Mustang GT alternator in under 30 minutes, start to finish, with all manual tools! I'm not a mechanic AT ALL, and I impressed some of my mechanical type friends as they watched! Thanks for giving me some confidence in future automotive endeavors! I almost want something else to break! Lol!!
Thanks awesome! Glad that I could be that person to help you out. My hats off to you for taking the job on and for getting it done. Many thanks for the great feedback and kind words Chris. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos as well. Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much for posting this, I replaced mine today and it was so easy, I’m a woman and love trying to do it on my own if I can and everything went smooth, my fiancé had a friend from work come over to jump my car when I was done 😁 they were both impressed 🤗
That was a very good video. I liked all of the little details and pointers on dealing with the connectors and replacing the rubber seal for the throttle body mounting plate. I would suggest that after you remove the old rubber seal you spray some throttle body cleaner in the groove and scrub it out with your tooth brush since you have it handy. Good advice on the blocking the manifold intakes with rags to be on the safe side. Also, the advice on mounting the red tube firmly on the throttle body cleaner nozzle before spraying it on the throttle body is good to know.
David...outstanding video. Not too short or too long...very professional and you speak very clearly. My mistake was that I counted on the guy behind the counter to give me the right belt and alternator...my bad as I normally show up with the part and compare on the spot. The plastic fastener you mentioned broke on me, so used a zip tie...which did the job. Again, outstanding video 📹 ... 👍
Thank you David! You are a great instructor who speaks clearly, which is so important! Also appreciate your attention to detail and extra tips. Top notch TH-cam content!!
Thanks for the video, really helped me. Took 45 minutes, but I spent half of the time trying to find a 13mm socket... ended up with using the second best thing, a half inch socket. And my tip for everyone is to put the belt on by the alternator wheel as the last wheel. align the belt all the way, put tension on the belt, apply preasure on the tension bar and pull it over the alternator wheel...
Excellent video. I’ve always been mechanically inclined but never got into working on my car. My alternator went and I figured I’d do it myself. Thanks to your video the new alternator went in without a hitch. Plus saved me hundreds on labor charges. Thanks.
