I’ve had my whites for 5 seasons now and I love them. I’ve tried the Lowas and other hiking style boots but I always come back to my whites. I’m one of the only ones on my crew that still wear logger style boots and I’m one of the only ones with dry feet and no blisters at the end of shift. Cheers from Montana 🍻🍻
I have 3 pairs… I’m not a smoke jumper but, I love quality and craftsmanship… They’ll last me the rest of my life. Use Obenaufs boot oil. I apply it on mine once a year … they still look new… and and feel great. Your not going to find a better built boot…smoke jumper or want to be. I wished I’d found these back in my law enforcement days. I bought many other brands and sadly they never lasted. I wear 11.5 but mine are 12. I like the room. Like you said extra socks or swollen feet. Better to have a larger size then smaller. Still USA made and I hope they continue to put out the greatest boot I’ve ever owned. CRY ONCE. THEIR EXPENSIVE…. But, worth it. Your vid was great.
One of the main reasons to make the investment in Whites is that they make custom boots. They actually use your measurements to make a pair of boots designed to fit your feet. They also make stock sizes like she has. Take my advice, if you buy these, pay for a pair that is made for your feet. I’m writing this in a pair Whites packers that I originally had made in 1987. Rebuilt in 1997. Sat in a closet many years. Still awesome in 2023. Kids you get what you pay for!
I Bought HAIX"S wildland boots with amazing ankle support and spring you up the mountain! I noticed a massive improvement and wayy lighter and super comfortable.
I've got a pair of White's and a pair of Nick's. In my case the Nick's worked out better for me as I had them made to fit my feet through measurements and try boots. The White's don't fit quite right... To me it's definitely worth spending the money to have the boots crafted to fit you and break them in with your feet.
Love to see an update of the boots you got that fit better. And look at Nicks my understanding they have a Military boot, not sure if its up to Regs but would be a great option to not kill your feet....
When I went out there in 2013 I think it was I bought a pair for $200 and it did me just fine but I suppose if I made a career out of it I would need a better pair of boots great video thanks
At the end of the fire season you may want to send them in for a rebuild and resize and u will have essentially a new pair. They can take them down three sizes.
In my opinion, White's Smokejumpers are THE best leather boot made, bar none. I've seen all these boots cut in half and ripped apart and seen exactly what goes into Smokejumpers in regards to quality and overall construction and although there are other really great boots, NONE...construct their boots with all the high-quality features of the White's Smokejumper. Rip them all apart and see for yourself.
I acquired a pair of White’s Boots about 7 months ago. They are difficult to break in and these boots are still painful to wear. I heard about the hot water breakin process but have been hesitant to try that being concerned that I would damage the boots somehow.
@@ArcaneWorkshop It has been a little over 2 years and they are getting ready for a resole. Little scuffs here and there, but the boots are good as new. If you have any questions just call Frank. He is very friendly and super helpful.

All fire boots that have national standards ratings are expensive. Just depends on your budget and if you will get your money's worth out of them should you decide after one season that wildfire isn't for you.
Hey! boot question Im wanting to get whites smokejumping boots and ive ran into a situation I normally wear Irish Settler Raching boots size 10 when i order my whites should i order at 10D? ( I dont wanna dump the money on a boot thats to uncomfortable to wear ya know?)
I'm pretty positive you can just email them for a customization for your specific needs. But I'm not sure of any other brands that could customize them for you expect for maybe Nick's. Or maybe Scarpa with the Fuegos.
I went through 2 pairs of Danner quarry boots in a year and 2 months. After that I had a pair of Nicks hotshots made and been rolling in them and alternating between a second pair for years. Dinners are good for the money but I don’t think they can hold up to a pair of Nicks,Whites or JK’s.....
Personally havent had luck with traditional Nicks or Whites boots, they don‘t stand a chance against modern boots in the same price range like Haix or Hanwag, even my Danners are better and all of them have the same features and more.

Are these the white smokejumper lace to toe or the Original ones please let me know
How does the size run? True to fit or should you get a size bigger or smaller? And what if you wear a custom insole ?
Definitely worth it
There are so many videos out there and I know people do it differently, but it'd be great if you could show us how you would take care of your boots.
