the whole point system in tekken is so weird to begin with. why not just use an elo like system for all ranks where you lose/gain points based on your ranking relative to your opponent's ranking.
The rank system is like any other game, the only issue is the fact that tekken prowess isn’t taken into consideration when loosing or winning games, which is a huge issue.
@@akpadeabsolutely not! I came to Tekken from Dota 2, and, you know - Dota 2 has Glicko-2 system of rating, which is based on two aspects: numbers of rating and percent of confidence in rating (more games - more confidence). And, of course, Dota 2 has some medals for players as a reflection of their numbers (like Tekken ranks) Why not give this type of system, where you have number of rating based on Glicko-2? This system is more fair to players then actual when you lose 1000 points after ine match... And you don't know why
Yes bandai should consider in making ranks more meaningful, and have a clearer separation in skill level. Recently, rank just feels like it’s all over the place.
Whats up Gian I recognised you at VSF and said hi. Most of the takes in your vids I completely agree with, Ive been saying for a while that Tekken 8 needs more ranks. Im at tekken king/emperor right now and playing online ranked games is so tiring. Mainly because the people I beat, plug or one and done, and the others are GoD or TGS on their second character. Even when I beat GoDs im rewarded with basically nothing, maybe 120 points. Theres also a lot of people who hit 240k prowess at TK then drop down to fujin and have to work back up. This system is just so dumb man.
Love coming to your videos. You're my go to channel to hear about the state of the game, and like minded opinions. Which is great when you're done playing, don't want to watch guides or twitch replays, and just want to chill while still having a Tekken mindset.
Short answer for me yes but the hand holding also helped with people being inflating ranks I see players who would not escape yellow in T7 in purple if they didnt have the hand holding at the start it would produce an more accurate bell curve this is coming from someone who was gate keeping Red ranks in T7 I'm now Raijin even if I dont play much just like 8hrs for a month max. The wood ranks in t7 are not useful btw. A good fix is to just have an MR system like SF6 once you hit GoD for highranked players to play for
So I’ll say something that’s been on my mind for awhile . I actually like the prowess and rank system the way it is because in T7, there was so many ranks that I couldn’t find anyone to play with online and as a result.. I never played. So I’d rather play with people better or worse than me than not play at all. Also, our tekken prowess don’t change that much because when you rank up, all your other characters rank up too so when you get deranked, your prowess doesn’t change that much because all of your other characters that were presumed higher didn’t change in rank and that is why I think our ranks don’t change. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with that because better players are in fact better than new players who are just learning their first character. For blue ranks, I think blue should be separated into 2 different colors like light blue and dark blue. Fujin and raining could be light blue and kishin and bujin could be dark blue because (no offense) but fujins and raijins suck compared to kishins and higher…. But they’re still ranks to be proud of. So I don’t think we should add more ranks. It would make the game less fun’. One last thing: I love the prowess system. It’s motivated me to learn new characters instead of just getting to a high rank with one and it motivates me because my prowesss goes cup when I learn characters so for me? I love the prowess system, it’s made me better haha
The prowess simply does not decrease once you achieve a rank, even if you lose said rank; sometimes it might slightly decrease but is because of the million minor factors influencing it. Your rank is the main factor though and if you reach for instance Tekken King ( the rank with the highest jump, apart for GoD) you will get around 230/240k prowess, and you will never get away from that amount.
@@TheGianGame I see. I’m currently bushin right now and I haven’t attempted to go for tekken king yet but it sounds like you’re saying that your tekken prowess will jump significantly just because you hit tekken king , which is one the ranks that doesn’t increase the rank of your other characters too once you rank up but if you lose the tekken king rank… because you hit tekken king once, it’ll never go down again Sigh. 😂 now I’m scared to hit tekken king 😂😂😂 my prowess is like 241,000 and I’m just a bushin haha
I kinda wish some game just implemented a ranking system where gains/losses were always equal and just scaled how much you win/lose points based on Win/Lose streak. Would mean consistently winning/losing leads to rank going up/down. Then have rank difference increase the scale of gained points a small amount on top of that. So people would eventually settle where they actually are skill wise.
Metal gear solid 4 use to have this kind of system in is online, I am probably one of the few people that experienced it thoroughly. It is VERY good for high level player, but it feels heavily plateauing for beginners and average
there should be a rank at 1,000,000 points..because thats crazy achievement, but you dont have to add new rank, you can just move the god of destruction rank over there.
I always wanted the max rank to only be achieved through the tournament mode. - First only TGS ranks can attend, and the winner of the tournament can rank up to GoD rank (max). There still can be a un-ranked tournament mode for everyone else. This is a deterrent for boosters and cheaters as they’ll be multiple players involved and it is not practical for a cheater to abuse the system. - this in turn, will only reserve the rank for legitimate players that worked hard for it. I’ve seen TGS players set ranks to no restrictions and play against much lower ranks to slowly (but surely) get to GoD. I think max rank should be reworked to only be reserved to legitimate skilled players. This is kinda like having that special badge you mentioned and gives more variety for online modes. Make the online tournament mode more viable
I think the columns of early ranks where you dont lose rank are intended for players who are new and learning on ranked can get better over time and get to see meaningful progression quicker and a better look at their own skill. Because you dont lose points you can lose with out pressure and once you start getting the hang of the game and start winning, you get the satisfaction of moving forward and not climbing out of a hole. By the time you get to the ranks where EXP becomes losable, the player should already be comfortable with the game to some extent. In some ways maybe the ranks aren't correctly described. The early ranks that dont lose points should probably be called the junior ranks and have the Real ranks called amateur ranks to what ever is considered pro ranks. Its like you say we have way less ranks than what we are seeing. The beginner ranks is a training ground. Once you are good enough at the game its not a place where people spend much time and because your other characters rank up as your main ranks up you will never see those ranks again playing seconds as an experienced player. so those ranks really only reserved for true beginners.
Not necessarily, ranks marks our progress in the general game. When I got yellow and then orange and then red and so on for the first time in t7 it was gratifying, I even if I always not a top tier player

It is technically to have lower level player having a easier hill to climb, the problem is that said hill becomes mt.Doom after you go pass Fujin!
@@akpadefor example why does a Tekken king lose more ranked points from losing to a GoD than a Garyu

That is why the legend system is needed, so people of that level could get some kind of reward rather than a series of 99999

Yes, I think having only 6 of the introductory ranks is more than enough in the current state of the game!
I think so, it’s hard to differentiate skill levels within the colors.
Yes, idk what to do more haga
Ahahah, ...what about 999999 pts with eery character?
If the gonna do rank reset every season, I'll stop playing ranked altogether
Ranks reset does not send you at beginner, but at the beginning of your category usually!
God prime was suck a badass rank name. Omega didnt really do it as well but both qre better than God of destruction
Tekken God Omega has that One Punch man power level vibe though!
Unless your goal is to be a top tier competitive player, ranks are a useless formality.
Not necessarily, ranks marks our progress in the general game. When I got yellow and then orange and then red and so on for the first time in t7 it was gratifying, I even if I always not a top tier player
why reinvent the wheel? go back to t7 ranked system with infinite rematch, no streaks and prowess being cosmetic
They want to give a tournament "simulation" feeling, so I don't think they will ever bring back death matches in ranked
Should be 4 yellow ranks and 4 purple ranks
I think that this would not bring much solution, as the real problem resides in the point system itself
We don't need more ranks.
Agreed, but we need a better utilization of the one we have...
