I think the inflated numbers at the end of 7 were def from cheaters, pluggers and save scummers. Tk7 ranked was much harder to climb but easier to cheat the system. I have 23 characters in tekken god for tk8 and it’s hard for me to even get tekken king for my mains in 7.

- current rank: fujin - whats stopping me from going further: lack of tekken knowledge others gathered over the years.. its hard to learn the moveset of 30+ characters that are there for years and years.. pretty proud of the rank im currently "stuck" at, because i had to learn the game with 0 knowledge since the release.. gonna take a while until one gets used to the game completely and learn the things needed, but when it clicks its gonna be god ranks in no time

I play Kazuya, currently at mighty ruler. T8 is my first serious Tekken game, I played T7 a little after the T8 was announced. I plan to get to Tekken King. I need work with throw breaking and reactions, so that is what I practice the most. Good tip on starting on viewing one replay - it makes you see your mistakes and start trying to avoid them, I will incorporate it. Thanks!

Such a great video. Tekken is not only about execution. It is about mindset and I feel you hit the nail on the head. I am a Shinryu Kazuya that is still climbing the ranks to establish my real rank - sitting on 90% wins so I know I am not at the rank I should be yet. Seems strange, perhaps, but I was only a Vanquisher in 7. My performances in T8 have elevated to a whole new level so I am aiming for Ruler ranks, possibly higher once I start using a real training routine. I like to work on combo warm ups mostly as my throw breaks are already excellent and my punishment is reasonable and being a Mishima main is so punishing if you don't warm up. Lastly, I 100% agree re. not always playing ranked. Sometimes, I simply do not feel my execution is good enough or I drop a punishment one too many times, so I just stick w' some quick matches for the day and move on with things. Keep up this level of content, my dude. You will go far with it!

Needed this. I would always hop straight into Ranked because I know experience with players my level is necessary for evolution. However what would happen often was fluctuations between Tekken King and Bushin. Some days I would be getting FRIED by BASIC Flowcharts that my body just wouldn’t react to, and other days I make several Tekken GOD players plug 🔌 I think this video is necessary for overcoming the dreaded Plateau… SUB earned, well done 👍🏾 and thank you

What’s keeping me from going above tk king: knowledge vs certain characters, not punishing stuff correctly, being cheesed to desth, xiaoyu’s aop avoiding anything and then i get launched, lazyness on my part 😂 to not play the game consistently everyday.

I play reina fujin and stuck. What to do?

I know it says Tekken King but my ass is stuck at Tekken Emperor/ Tekken God. I believe I can get G.O.D.

the points system sometimes makes no sense. Im a fujin and played a Raijin the other day with higher prowess than me (im 188k and i think they are 195k). I lost 1000 (!) points in the first match!!! then i won the second and only got 500....lost the third. so even though I wasnt sweeped, I still lost 1000 to someone who is better than me in all metrics. I feel like that should apply more to people near your own rank/prowess, not someone who is better than you on every metric. Just seems super weird to do it that way.

I always go into practice mode and practice combos (and just frames, and setups, and tricky moves) for a few minutes before entering ranked play. What I really need to do is study throw escapes. I just don't have the time.

Kishin Raven (played Paul until Raijin before)- First ever fighting game - I think my biggest issue is legit knowledge. Wheter its certain moves of characters, where to step or perfectly optimitzed combos for certain situations. Im also not good at korean backdashing yet. I think ill be stuck at Kishin/Raijin for a long time, until I learn more. Just gonna take some time.

im in asia and i was stuck in raijin (jin main) for a few months and im new to tekken with tekken 8. finally got to kishin recently only finding out that main issues for me in this rank (even at kishin) is being TOO defensive and honest, respecting everyone since i always play with higher level players for casuals. Once i improved my defense and learned when to disrespect/what type of players to disrespect i immediately got out of raijin and to kishin. But i have two issues. 1. Players who play characters like Bryan or Lili who play defensive and keepout 2. Players who rush down and overwhelm with mixups using characters like alisa/reina (i know the matchup for these 2 as i play alot of casuals against these characters) I am lost on how to deal with both of these type of players as for the 1st one, i do not know how to close the distance and start pressuring them, and for the 2nd one i just do not know how to get out of their pressure since they just 50/50 I actually aim to hit tekken king but i know im still far from that level of play. i’m new to tekken ! i’m a top 1% cs player in NA and got to red in a week but i hate getting knowledge checked and losing simply because i don’t know what alisa is doing. A lot of quick match to gain experience and see everyone’s strings to try and build a good defense is my goal now, just gotta gain a lot of experience

My routine to go from orange to fujin in a few days with jack was watch joe crush and anakin videos, try their stuff in practice, play casuals for an hour or two applying everything i learnt and trying to defend a lot to learn, then ranked for 1-2 hours max. Ill do the same to tekken king if i ever feel like i care again😂

Bushin rank with Asuka and Raijin rank with Kuma. I could hit Tekken King with Asuka, but I don't feel motivated to do so as bushin was my goal

I have a kishin, a raijin, 11 fujins and the rest at Mighty. I still feel like I'm playing T7 and getting overwhelmed by knowledge checks and struggling to mount my own offense. I have always been more conservative in my play and I am drowning as a consequence. My highest last game was Emperor. One thing that is also hurting is just that I do not have a main. Unlike T7 there isn't a character that I love. I don't really have a main. Hoping eventually a DLC character will click. I just want Gigas back but I know it's very unlikely. Maybe Fahkumram, Jinpachi, any other big character. We'll see. For now I mainly play Jack-8.

quick note on your table bec you prob havent kept track of the recent korean SOOP tournaments. you got lowhigh listed as a drag player which he more or less completely dropped for bryan. he plays 60% shaheen, 35% bryan and 5% steve. and with kkokkome, he recently for the most part played nina and feng. mulgold plays a triplet of alisa/feng and claudio and cbm played only heihachi.

why are purple ranks called "ruler ranks" when the rest is actually named after colors. I'm at Kishin, but still feel like a noob due to the fact now ppl start to use sidestepping.

think the worst was when fahk came out and like half or more of the people competing was playing him. its is good to see that all the jins are loyalist though i seen a lot of people ragging on me cause i play jin and im like played jin,heihachi and AK in 7 so that shits just what it is i wish they would nerf him a lil just so people stop complaining (regardless hes a perfect character tho) lol

King needs to be nerfed just a little

To me they did a good job in this update. And nerfed the right characters in the right direction. I usually beat dragonavs with regularly but with alot of work. Now I can slightly relax and use different combos on them

Just by looking at the smallest issues that haven't been fixed almost a year in (i.e. the "this is the first time you've reached X rank" message and Steve's b1 frame data inaccuracy) speaks VOLUMES alone.

To calculate your true rank, you have to calculate every person that’s purchased the game, even if they’ve only played one or two matches online. They’re clearly not as good as people that are higher ranks. The last I heard is that the game has sold over 2 million copies so calculating a small percentage of people playing the game is not accurate on how good you are in comparing to everybody. I would say less than half of the people that purchased this game play it competitively, so if you’re mathematically in the top 20% based on people currently playing realistically you are in the top 10%. Because half the people playing it don’t take it serious.
