    THANK YOU for having actual 50+ skin!!! No filters, no Botox, just a beautiful, real woman. You even squinted in one of the shots to see how the foundation looked with wrinkles. I can definitely relate to you! You’re my new favorite MUA!

    Hello! Please try applying the Laura Gellar foundation with a DRY sponge with a flat surface, like the Real Techniques sponge. I could not get any coverage with a brush, and was thinking of returning the foundation. Then I tried the dry sponge, and the coverage and texture is gorgeous! It still looks skin-like, but definitely gives medium coverage. I love the foundation now.

      I also have this foundation and I get really good coverage with a brush! But it has to be a dense brush and I push/stipple it into the skin. It builds so easily with that technique! I plan on filming a video over the weekend using my Laura Geller baked foundation. :)

    Thanks for your review! I recently started using the Infallible powder foundation. I use ELF illuminating putty primer. Then press the powder foundation into my skin with the sponge. Then buff with a powderfoundation filled brush. Finish it all with setting spray, and it looks beautiful. I’m 68

    Tried the BM many years ago. I was much younger, found it messy and too much coverage for me, I have no hyperpigmentation, so I gave up on powder foundation. Now I am 65, haven’t used foundation on a daily basis for many years. Recently tried the Laura Geller, and I love it. I don’t want a lot of coverage at my age. Less is more IMO. Also purchased the lip liners and kajal eye pencils, they are very long lasting. They do not budge! So I’m sticking with LG. Great video! Thank you!

    Thank you for this video and for showing both drugstore and higher end options! I'm only 31 but I want to learn from women who have been using makeup longer than me. I especially want to get into habits that won't look aging later. Good to know that prep is more important with powder but skin care is not a bad thing and I'm willing to male powder work. Powder gives a porcelain look, is easier than liquid, and people who use liquid tend to top it with powder anyways. Why not skip the liquid lol! Thanks!!

    BM was the first powder foundation I ever used, and I loved it! I was in my early 20s, living back home in humid Hawaii. I loved it so much that I would bring the translucent powder to work and touch it once daily.
    My coworkers adored it on me, and I received compliments every day. I didn't know I had “shiny” skin until BM, lol. I even recommended BM to three of my coworkers. None of us used heavy makeup-just mascara and lipstick-so using BM significantly improved our everyday makeup routine.

It was so easy to blend and had great coverage- just be sure to use a hydrating moisturizer and primer!

    If I can make a request, when you do any foundation video, could you do some footage with natural light so we can see what it looks like in a "normal" natural setting? It's hard to determine if we would like it or see fit if you're in beauty lighting set up versus what it looks like in the sun outside or natural inside a room/house/etc. Also, some beauty gurus do a flash photo pic with their cell phone to see what it would like like with a flash. Thanks and keep up the great work!!

    I'm a big fan of Cent pur cent's loose mineral foundation. Looks very natural and gives you a light glow. You can build it up with multiple layers for More Coverage. I am 60 and this foundation makes my skin look young and fresh.
    Don't settle into the wrinkles and you won't feel it at all. I do use a kabuki bruch to apply this loose powder. Take the color of your own skin tone. Especially if you have fine lines. Definitely don't go darker!I have used many foundations but this one is my favorite.

    Thanks for the demo! Unfortunately powder foundation is not for me. The fact that powder foundation is naturally dry feels to me an unnatural choice for mature skin. Plus the need to buff thoroughly to achieve a consistent finish is overly rough on our delicate skin. I still prefer cream or liquid foundations lightly finished with a loose powder but never place powder under my eyes.

      I gave myself a chemical peel (a 13% TCA peel) and about 9 days later, I developed a 5 o'clock shadow and it has never gone away. I later learned due to my Asian background and skin type, chemical peels usually can result in melasma and PIH. Should have researched more BEFORE I did peel (actually, I knew it was a possibility, I just thought because my skin tone was light/medium, that I wasn't in that "darker skin" category. )

    The first time I used it I did not like it. I could see flakes of the powder on my face. It was if I took all of the fall out from the pan and dumped it on my face..
    The second time I did a lot more buffing and it was better except on my dry patches…
    Third time I buffed buffed buffed , Used a setting spray and then rolled my sponge up and down my face pressing in the setting powder and product..👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

    Most powder foundations don’t do well on me but I have found one I love. It’s the Wander Beauty powder foundation. It can go light to full coverage. I use the Wunder 2 kabuki brush to give a light to medium coverage and then follow up with the Beauty Blender powder pocket puff (using the velour side) to smooth things out and to give more coverage in certain areas. I don’t find this powder to be matte but more of a natural finish. It really holds up during the day.

    Love LG, great over something like BM Skin Rescue or even on its own, so natural looking. I recently pulled out my BM original loose powder and applied as the guru (ShelbeyWilson ) instructs, a little and buff, a little and buff, a little more and buff and I tell you it was beautiful on the skin. Lasts so well all day. I agree it does take longer to apply and it’s worth it for the look if you’re going for something more polished that day. I have been wearing the original bare Minerals for about 20 years. It wasn't until this past year that I started using liquid foundation again after being a complete dedicated bare Minerals customer. I still love so many of their products but ever since Leslie Blodgett sold the company some 9 years ago to Shiseido that it has done away with some of their staple products. My all time favorite blush was the bare Minerals all over face powder in the color TRUE and it is gone. I have still till this day never found a color that was that perfect. I am enjoying trying new makeup as my skin has changed since aging. So far my favorite liquid foundations are the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better, and the Estee Lauder Hydra Futurist Foundation. I still love the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer for the summer months and I mix it with my tinted Australian Gold SPF 50 sunscreen during the day. Oh no!!! I haven’t had that issue, but I pretty much switch up my foundation so much because I’m testing something new all the time. I did have a bad reaction to a Clinique blush so I know there are some ingredients that can irritate your skin in some of the powders that are supposed to be better for sensitive skin! Maybe it was because you have to buff I’m so much! But yes, the Laura Geller is amazing!

    I am a little younger than your target audience, 43, I recently discovered LG baked foundation and love it. It took two tries to get the right color, but I'm good now. I'd love some tips on not having the foundation settle in my lines, around my eyes and on my forehead. I still have oily skin and use a light moisturizer for day (heavier at night), I started using the LG Spackle Primer under the foundation and it keeps the make-up from settling in the creases for a few hours, but by late afternoon, the makeup has "melted" or settled into my lines- which just makes me look older! It is way worse with liquid foundations which is why I switched to powder...any tips would be appreciated. THNX

Xx ps fairly new 38 yr old British subscriber here and I think your very pretty and I'm enjoying your channel 🙏❤️

  • @trinablum7102

    I’m guessing that as they’re called powder foundation that they’re designed so you can wear them without having to use a liquid foundation? I’m glad you mentioned powder sticking to hairs as I’ve found that happens when I’ve used a liquid foundation with a powder over the top. I’m in Australia & have recently found a mineral powder foundation by Vani-T that I love the look & feel of even though I find it messy to apply & have to do before I put on the top I’m going to wear. I find it doesn’t cover the redness & age spots on my face though so in that case is it best to use colour correction, concealer or a liquid foundation underneath (or combination) when I want those covered more?

    • @LisaMonique
      @LisaMonique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are designed to be worn without liquid underneath, but they are typically light or light medium coverage. If you need more, they do work well over a liquid. Some, lie the Bare Minerals, are designed to “liquify” as you massage into skin with brush, and it does provide more coverage that is as long lasting as a liquid foundation!

      It’s lighter coverage and less powdery looking. More skin like. I was just thinking about my Laura Geller last night and how I need to pull it out upcoming trip. If you have a lot of discoloration, it may or may not be enough coverage without concealer. If you’re just trying to even your skin tone for flawless finish, it’s my favorite still,

    Wow! We’re the same shade in the Laura Geller foundation! Sand! And I’m a lot darker than you lol! I’ve tried both the Tan and Deep and they were both too dark and cool toned for me. That’s crazy! Im more on the neutral to warm side. Sand has been the closest match to me and I love it! I had to buy that one in the Balance and Glow formula. Sand hasn’t been available in the Brighten side. So now I just use Deep as my contour. 😁😁

    I am finding as I’m ageing I’m getting a lot of textured spots on my skin. I can’t wear liquid foundation due to allergies. Any advice on how to deal with this? I usually use Mac studio fix powder or BM original.

    • @LisaMonique
      @LisaMonique  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Powder foundations are great for covering texture! The 2 you are using are some of the best! If they work for you, you don’t need to change unless you just want to experiment with different brands. There are so many now! But if they’re not providing all the coverage you need you could also layer. Are you allergic to cream based foundations too? You could try cream or a stick foundation and dust with the powder foundation to hide texture more but I think you are already using the best option for textured skin! To try and get rid of them. Are you using exfoliators in your skin care? Like a glycolic acid or tretinoin?

Definitely love the loreal infalliable powder thats another go to for me but one that i have been really interested in and i actually just put an order in for it ( i think u can only order it online but not sure) is the Jane Iredale... seems like most mature skin women cant stop raving about this foundation! they have a few foundations but the pressed powder seems to be the more popular one. very excited to try that one out just thought id throw in a possible option for you to try out if u were interested . thanks again for the great content
