Preparing a new dairy cow pen, and measuring for silage piles

  • We have a lot of dairy cows calving soon and they can't all fit in the barn close-up pen. So, we have to clean up the heifer pen to get it ready to hold dry cows. Manure needs to be hauled, fresh bedding put in, and cows vaccinated and sorted. In the midst of all that, we need to measure to see if the corn silage pile will fit in the feed yard. It's very full at this time of year so we hope it will still fit!! Video 25

    Can u talk a bit about the millet in regard to planting nutrients required yield etc but more important feed value and how it fits into ur TMR

      It's not uncommon to get a hard frost in late September, but usually the 1st killing frost is early October
