      Maybe, you shouldn't have said it but I was definitely thinking it, too. Plus, I think it turned out well. Having light on one side and semi darkness on the other agreed with my eyes. Still, it's only my opinion, I'm not a film school student.

    Reminds me of when the Travis MCP channel was doing the whole, give an iPhone to an android fan and vice versa with people documenting their experiences over the course of a week or 2 then making a decision if they switched or kept their current device. 2:40 just randomly while I'm thinking about it, have you heard of the SURITCH Z Fold6 case that has a discrete kickstand and s-pen slot? It made me - the biggest case hater of all time - appreciate a case. And it's the only one to do so in my entire time using ZF3-6.

    10:00 the speaker orientation makes sense as you'll likely be holding it in landscape when gaming or watching video. You also won't cover a speaker when holding it in landscape.
    19:55 the durability of the Z Fold has come a long way. It's interesting how much that perception of fragility impacts the desire to own one. I beat the crap out of my Fold 4 and Fold 5 without a case and have had no issues. My 4 survived a literal fall down a mountain into a lake, and my 5 routinely lives in my pocket while I go downhill mountain biking.

    • @shanecraigtech
      @shanecraigtech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doesn't it make more sense to always have stereo sound? For what it's worth, I've owned like 5 phones that do something like what the Pixel is doing and I've never had issues with covering a speaker.

    @ChrisVideoNet 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I returned the Fold 6 and kept the fold 5. The little bit in the front screen width wasn't enough to overcome the pointy uncomfortable hold in hand. Fold 5 was perfect. I need to try a Oneplus Open or Honor.

  • @sparky6757
    @sparky6757 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    For the most part no real surprises, but better to be thorough imo.
    The few things I was surprised by were
    - finding fold 4 easier to open (mine absolutely was _not_ that)
    - not liking the camera (I never have any issues with mine so I'm surprised a non-enthusiast would have a problem)
    Definitely agree with the conclusion that, as a regular person, folds aren't worth buying. The coolness factor carries it a lot more than the practicality does. I mean I use my Tab S8 Ultra more than I use my Fold 6 (5h SOT vs 3 yesterday), let alone the fact that probably ~20-40% of that time it's closed. Fact is, if I need a tablet for a task, a full-size one will do the job better, and *most of the time* I'm in the same place as my full-size tablet. I need it for school, I need it for work, and of course it's with me at home. Honestly I might not even buy a fold next time I decide to upgrade, because I just don't choose to use it over my Tab when my Tab is available.

    • @shanecraigtech
      @shanecraigtech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm sure that there are people who carry folding phones because they think it's cool, but for me it's absolutely the practicality. While a larger tablet might be more useful, you can't fold that up and put it in your pocket lol. The utility of a double-sized screen in your pocket is one of those things that depends on the person. Some people will find it invaluable, some won't see much benefit at all. For most, it's probably not worth it.

    • @sparky6757
      @sparky6757 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shanecraigtechYeah, use case definitely differs from person to person. Two phone screens is definitely _enough_ to do anything you want a tablet for, albeit cramped, and if you're doing something that you can't feasibly carry a bag for, a pocket's all you have.

      This absolutely makes sense the way you describe it. In your shoes I'd feel the same way, but this phone is the only tablet I own lol. I have a pretty powerful desktop with a huge monitor, 2 smaller monitors, and speaker setup I use if I REALLY wanna get into some media. Ive got my laptop if I'm traveling and wanna game but if I wanna just chill in bed and watch youtube that's where the phone comes in. I also like being able to multitask activities i do on my phone anyway. Plus im a nurse, work in hospitals. I get a lot less negative attention with a big phone in my hand or propped up on the desk than I get with my laptop amd controller 😂

    • @27Binx72
      @27Binx72 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shanecraigtechI enjoy foldables for the same reason. For me it's about device reduction. I know a tablet would be better to use as a tablet, but when I had a tablet years ago, I never took it around/used it, really. Whereas, with my foldable, it's in my pocket and always with me. I'd rather have one or two devices that do everything vs several devices for specific use cases. I do the majority of everything on my foldable and use my PC for everything else/gaming. It just works better for me vs having several different things. If I have to grab something else to do something specific, then I'll never use it.

    I used the pitaka case on my zfold 6 too and at first it was easy to open but after a while it is painful to open. I have to dig my fingernail in between the two folds to open it. I did buy the Thinborne and will put that on since I see how good it is doing on my Pixel fold 9 and makes it easier to have the case on ALL foldables in my experience... Any other case imo makes it too big. I find myself using the zfold 6 since it seems smaller to carry around ...

    Her perspectives are in the 50% of phone users... like many people are buying because or just to have the new... but tech comprehension wise, most can do with a basic phone, this why most female have an iPhone; hardware never really sell the woman, it's the software, features and simplest OS to use, and ease of use, in a candy color variety pack personable shell. ZFold6 is more of a hardware tech junkies phone. It just beautiful this time!
    I have a ZFold6,coming from ZFOLD3, and I can comfortably palm a basketball with either hand... and yet ZFold6 feels great and tightly compacted good in my hands... I have the thinborn style case... I like using the magsafe accessories, and my thin case will bulge outwork if I put a magsafe ring on phine itself? Otherwise, I'd rock ZFold6 naked, just need to be able to mount phone once enter my car and car accessories are magsafed
    My case makes my phone a hair ever, slightly bigger. I prefer the smallest formfactor phone with the biggest screen to body ratio. My side phone is the note 10 6.3. So I think the design, sizes, and build of ZFold6 is next to perfect "for me."
    Plus, the Foldables markets are kinda aimed towards the power users clubs and minded people.
    Yet many buy due to the main screens and are really not power users, but streaming/social app users who want the best cameras.
    Im a careful person and value my cheapest to expensive purchases the same... plus, I move with a consistent pace , not to be hasten too much that i get carelessness with time and things.
    Loved her honesty, but she it completely opposite of her husband tech wise...
    She is just simple, and that is a beautiful quality to have in a woman... long as it does the job, she could care less. Just show me how it works. Let me go, Jesse. 😆

    too thin she said ? omg how come ?? the fold 6 is the thickest phone ever in the market .. i heard a lot of people complaining about how thick it is and it has a size of 2 mobiles combined together ,, and now she said thin !! 🤣🤣😂 .. ohh by the way , you are hearing the sound coming only from the left side because you are holding the phone in wrong rotation , just rotate the phone until the speaker becomes 1 in the left & 1 in the right , Samsung didn't design this phone to be held in a randomly rotation

    You now need to have your wife use the OnePlus open , so she could see what other brands are offering . I am one of your 2 female watchers lol , I just bought the Honor magic v2 as It's had a very big price drop in the UK since the v3 has been released , just to give an idea of my previous favourite phone it was the Huawei Mate 20x it had a 7.2 inch screen lol .
    I have been wanting a folding phone for years, but I thought they were too expensive and too flimsy , with the price of the Honor v2 under a £1000 for the phone, I was willing to take a chance , and the phones are now not in the prototype release phase.

    Why in different rooms?

      We both have our own PC that we game on with friends. Mine is in my studio for obvious reasons and hers is in a room that's basically hers to do with what she wants.
      It's simplest to do it this way and we both get our own mic and no worry about fitting both of us on camera, etc.

    I get what she's saying.
    I love the form factor of foldables and that overrides the negatives for me, but you are very cognitive of how expensive they are and that makes you treat it differently. It feels more like a, "device" than a phone, if that makes sense. People are used to being able to not worry about their phone too much, short of drops, but with a folding phone, you definitely feel less relaxed about tossing it around lol.
    I use my OnePlus Open naked and my feelings go back and forth. I'm OCD enough that I am much more careful with it, but it also feels so much better with no case and the leather back helps with grip. I just take care of it and have a warranty/insurance, just in case.
    I definitely agree with the negatives brought up, though. You have to really want to multitask and want that big screen for these devices to be beneficial vs. a headache. We don't "need" anything more than a pixel a-series level phone. These are just nice to have.
    Foldables are more niche/nerdy. I've had my coworkers ask about my Open and I showed them what you can do with it and the average/non nerdy person think it's too much technology and overwhelming. Foldables are for techies it seems and I doubt we will ever reach a point where they achieve any sort of mass adoption. Maybe Google's pixel fold can do well by offering a much more straightforward user experience for regular phone users.

      @@27Binx72 I'm really sad I forgot to mention that I work in a retail setting with a lot of contractors. And I'm noticing a lot more of these contractors are using foldables. I actually try to keep count of how many I see on a daily basis and it's really cool to just see people who you wouldn't think are techies using a foldable but they're using it because they run a business and have to multitask so much throughout the day! But yeah I definitely am not that techy-minded and have to actually make myself use the multi-tasking features LOL

      @@disagreeablegames That's really cool! I would definitely love to nerd out about something a contractor and I have a connection with. That's an interesting insight! I wouldn't expect someone like that to use something so not mainstream, so that's actually really kinda neat.

      I use my Fold 5 naked and treat it like any other phone. It gets tossed around, dropped, pocketed, etc. without any extra care. It still looks and functions like new a year later aside from a small scuff on the bezel.
