Yongnuo is definitely a good cost effective solution to start with however Godox truly does have a much easier to navigate UI and some nice quality of life features too!
The locking knob on the Godox is to tighten an accessory placed into the bare bulb head, not to change the head itself. It’s good to see Chinese companies now copying other Chinese companies, rather than Japanese and European products. A refreshing development.
EXCELLENT presentation- and VERY helpful for my own needs. I've been a Yongnuo trigger user for the past 7 years; I never cared for/wanted/liked the typical Pocket Wizard stuff- or the cost. So on a whim, I checked out their line....and have been very happy. I honestly can get almost 300ft. of range. I can trigger around corners. I can trigger from different floors. Works from a helicopter. ETC. So excited to try one of the 200's + master units w/ enhanced features. I know I can trust the brand.
Nice review. Hoping that someone here can help... I have 3 YN560 IV flashes, a couple of the YN605 triggers and the YN560 tx for manual lights. These have worked great for several years with no problems at all. However, for outdoor shoots where the subject moves and the light changes I purchased 2 YN968n flashes and the YN622 tx to control them with Nikon iTTL. I now have 2 types of flashes and 3 types of triggers. I have found Yongnuo documentation and system compatibility to be frustrating, and their customer service to be non-existent... Before I spend any more money on Yongnuo I need to know : Will the YN560 TX Pro control both the YN968n with firmware 1.06 and the YN200 in Nikon iTTL HSS?
Unfortunately the YN600EX-RT works on the RT wireless system so it won't work, which is partly the reason Yongnuo hasn't been so prominent in the market and brands like Godox are gaining popularity, as all their flashes work within the same system.
@hypop Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me, I'm very appreciative! It looks like I'll have to start again which is a shame because I do want to add a 200w to my kit but to do so, I'd have to buy a new trigger and flashes so for that reason, I might as well go the Godox route. You can use the S-Type Bracket or the new Godox S2 bracket to mount to a light stand. Otherwise there's 1/4" mounting points on the side and bottom of the YN200 to mount direct to most other brackets or light stands.

Hey there! Thanks for the great feedback, the YN200 is not compatible with the AK-R1 Accessory kit as it doesn't have access to the H200R Head which is needed to use the AK-R1.
No, unfortunately the YN-E3-RT II is not compatible with the YN200 as it uses the RT wireless system. You may be able to get them to work with adapters or pass-through but it will be a complicated setup. Best to get the YN560-TX Pro for C or N to suit.
Thank you for the review. 1-Can I fully control/trigger yn200 using my yn-e3-rt?? 2- Does youngnuo plan to introduce 400 or more importantly, 600 sized speedlites??
1 - Unfortunately it won't work with the RT range of wireless trigger. The compatible trigger for the YN200 to access its full features (HSS/TTL) is the YN560Tx-Pro. Currently only Canon/Nikon variants available. 2 - At this stage only the 200W model but who knows? They tend to follow market trends rather than lead them :)

Once you compare all the accessories you're losing with the YN200 the AD200 is a better value. Which is a shame, I have been using the Yongnuo 560 flash with the transmitter for years and have been very happy with that kit.
No, unfortunately not. Unless you have a compatible receiver you can plug into the YN200's sync port. Alternatively you'll need to use Yongnuo's triggering system.
The YN622N trigger isn't directly compatible with the internal receiver of the YN200. You'll need to plug the trigger in via the sync jack and use both transreceivers for it to work.
Yes, but using a PC sync cable and using a Godox receiver paired to a Godox trigger. You're best suited with the YN560TX-Pro to connect to the internal receiver of the YN200.
The Yongnuo YN200 is pretty good. But you need the new YN560-TX Pro. Or you can't use TTL or HSS. You can fire the flash with many old Yongnuo triggers. I own the YN200 and use it a lot. If you already own the Godox AD200 it is a better product. no reason to buy this. Do you own a YN560 or more then it makes sense to buy.
With the a firmware update (I believe v1.08) you're able to enabled YN560-Rx mode on YN622 transceivers to trigger the YN200. A good option if you already own these triggers.
Im really tempted to buy this and just use it aa a slave to my elinchrom Quadra outdoors when i need hairllight or a fill etc. Cheap and a much more portable strobe then buy anpther Quadra with the flash and batterypack
I've had a pretty bad experience with my Yongnuo speedlites. I had 4 of them and all of them stopped working after some time, mainly because of the "stuck at full power" issue. That doesn't mean that this new YN200 has this same problem (hopefully), but i wouldn't recommend to buy Yongnuo gear. In the best case Yongnuo gear is unreliable, in the worst case, it's just designed to stop working after some time. Some months ago i had to get a new system so i chose Godox. I have a TT685, an AD200 and the X2T controller, they work well and so far i'm pretty happy. Yes, the YN200 is considerably cheaper than the YN200, but still i wouldn't recommend to take the risk to invest in Yongnuo equipment
It terms of reliability and longevity we totally agree that Godox is the safer option. The Yongnuo range, despite being affordable have encountered issues in the past but are a great cost effective alternative to those starting out.
@@hypop Of course, as in any other product, you always have many options to choose from. You can go for price or you can go for more expensive, durable and well built products. But then we have that "stuck at full power" issue (again, i'm not claiming that the YN200 has this issue). This is an issue well known by users and by Yongnuo themselves, present not in just one, but in several models of speedlites the brand has been selling for several years and never cared to fix. This issue is not a consequence of cheaply manufactured products, instead it is the best example i know of planned obsolescence. There is a big difference between something built cheap and something built to fail, that's why i can't trust Yongnuo products anymore and consider my responsibility to warn people
@@therefix342 that's great. You should totally do that. I think i only found one tutorial about this and It was with the yn 560. I'm sure lots of people will thank you for that

I am in process of buying my first powerful portable flash/strobe and I will never consider buying this Yn200! I am done with this company forever.
I have all the great Goddox flashlights like the Godox AD 360 II V850 II pro but... And the Yongnuo YN660... So what with the simple Yongnuo RF 603N II Flash trigger I never had any problem... I was nearly crying when again and again the Goddox (I have two different flashes triggers) failed to trigger, because my flash setting was wrong... The moment is gone and just the setting failed ... So what give me a manual flash trigger for Goddox that will work always... Otherwise, I will choose Yongnuo...
I sent this to Yongnuo's Sales Department in Hong Kong this morning: Dear Yongnuo, PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR MANAGEMENT I own: 4 YN 603n Trigger/Receivers purchased years ago that were outdated almost immediately due to the 603N ii triggers 3 YN968 Flash units 2 YN622n Receiver/Triggers 1 YN622n-TX Trigger When I first purchased my YN968 units I also got the YN 560 TX but it did not work with HSS. THE PROBLEM IS I JUST LEARNED IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH any of the YN equipment I now have.. What is the matter with your management? They keep coming out with systems that are not compatible with systems you sold to millions of photographers. Does the President of Yongnuo drive his car backwards? Does he drive on the wrong side of the road? Does he show up at work with his pants on backward? Does he wear his undershorts on his head? In case you can't tell ...I'm a little pissed.
@@jjaylad hypop just wrote, in comments, that u can trigger YN200 with YN622tx, but need to do update on 622tx, 1.08 or newer. So maybe, there is hope 🙂
Meh. Alot of photographers have switched to Godox, and this is an attempt by Yongnuo to remain relevant. The Yongnuo YN200 is inexpensive, sure, but just can't beat Godox for versatility. I'll pass
If this means this new flash is incompatible with the Yn622 system of flashes and triggers I will be seriously pissed with Yongnuo. I use the triggers for 600ws manual studio strobes which do not support HSS work fine all the way up to 1/8000 sec using those triggers. Why would they bring out yet another flash that is not compatible with that system? Half the management at Yongnuo must arrive for work driving their cars backward and the other half wear their pants backward. They are the most inconsistent company on the planet. Love the items I have from them but if these aren't compatible I will never buy more YN products due to the ongoing lack of appreciation for their customers that incompatibility represents.
Unfortunately this is the case. The YN622 series triggers can be plugged in via the sync port using a cable however will only act as a manual trigger and you won't have TTL / HSS support. A shame and missed opportunity and no idea why they didn't think of making the YN200 backwards compatible.

No modeling light unfortunately.
Exactly right! Depending on the system you're already invested in both products have their pros and cons.
The Godox AD200 also shows the flash duration, there is an option to activate in the menu
Thanks for the tip!
@@hypop 👍
Is this flash more powerful than yn660 which seems is the most powerful speedlight in the world.
The mount around the flash tube is actually the old Lumedyne mount. You can mount Lumedyne, Q-Flash and Godox accessories
As well as Norman 200b and 400b.
What is q flash ?
Does it works with Sony sistem?
Yes, but only manual mode with Sony as there's no native Sony triggers by Yongnuo.a
can this be triggered by yn622 system together by using its sync cable?
With the a firmware update (I believe v1.08) you're able to enabled YN560-Rx mode on YN622 transceivers to trigger the YN200. A good option if you already own these triggers.
@@hypop is that confirmed info? We can use YN622TX to trigger YN200, with HSS?
Im really tempted to buy this and just use it aa a slave to my elinchrom Quadra outdoors when i need hairllight or a fill etc. Cheap and a much more portable strobe then buy anpther Quadra with the flash and batterypack
how set HZ
There is a big difference between something built cheap and something built to fail, that's why i can't trust Yongnuo products anymore and consider my responsibility to warn people
I actually managed to fix 3 of my 600RT's with that very same problem! Ill probably be posting a video on how to do that soon.
@@therefix342 that's great. You should totally do that. I think i only found one tutorial about this and It was with the yn 560. I'm sure lots of people will thank you for that
Yongnuo offers some good quality Speedlites like yn685 but they overheat a lot and missfire also their triggers suddenly stop working! I am suffering with my yn622n-tx trigger!
Otherwise, I will choose Yongnuo...
you didn't mention the price
yongnuo yn 200 flash problem Error E 01
go thry slave with flashes without triggers?
This Apple Watch upside down )))))
You are not keeping the flash tube properly. Take care while keeping it on plain table. There is always possibility to roll down the tube.
Thanks for the feedback!
yn560 tx pro has no support for Olympus/Panasonic akaik T.T
Yes, unfortunately only Canon and Nikon versions at the moment. Try the Godox AD200 / AD200Pro with the X1, X2 or XPro-O
I sent this to Yongnuo's Sales Department in Hong Kong this morning:
Dear Yongnuo,
PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR MANAGEMENT
I own:
4 YN 603n Trigger/Receivers purchased years ago that were outdated almost immediately due to the 603N ii triggers
3 YN968 Flash units
2 YN622n Receiver/Triggers
1 YN622n-TX Trigger
When I first purchased my YN968 units I also got the YN 560 TX but it did not work with HSS. I contacted you and you told me I needed the YN 622N instead of the YN560TX, so I purchased that.
Now you have the YN200 which I WAS interested in.
Are you 100% sure 622tx is not compatible with YN200?
@@milanbabic3243 I read that in several places before saying it. YN did not respond so I have to assume they couldn't contradict that.
@@jjaylad hypop just wrote, in comments, that u can trigger YN200 with YN622tx, but need to do update on 622tx, 1.08 or newer. So maybe, there is hope 🙂
Yes... but you still didn't address my issue
ARE YOU SERIOUS about USB-C cabel @15:54 min??? It is rather the old Micro USB !!!! Can´t you see the difference between the Micro USB and USB-C?
I imagine bulbs are the same.
I own 3 Yn 968n flash units plus 2 yn622n triggers and the YN 622N-TX.
@@hypop To me this is a horrible way to treat customers and I have let YN know via this email sent this morning to their sales department in Hong Kong:

With other words - the Chinese are starting to copy _other_ Chinese brands, and Yongnuo made a cheap Godox-knockoff. What has the world come to?
1/128 и 1/256 иногда не хватает..
The Godox has a better flash than that copycat.

Would love to know also
Does Yongnuo YN200 light support yn e3 rt trigger?
Unfortunately it doesn't
