initially stopped by just for the bios- pretty familiar with emulators but hadn't done duckstation setup before- I really appreciate that you give complete newbies some decent habits on file organization! And I like that you explain some of your reasons for choosing certain settings- keep it up!

Hey can I just ask, when you download duckstation are games automatically on it or do you need to get them separately?
@rosita3528 you will need to get the games separately. there are legal ways of doing this, but otherwise r/roms is a good place to start looking. make sure to read and search a lot before you ask any questions there though- ppl can be testy.

I always had issues with emulators, and most previous channels were not explaining it very well so i gave up on it. But once i ran into this channel, i never realize how easy emulators are. UrCasualGamer is the legend, i would have never got into emulation if it wasnt for this guy

A little outdated on the setup and not having much experience myself in emulators it took much more than a simple "follow along". Best instructions by far but definitely have to use some figuring out on your own.

Thank you so much for this and the PCSX2 tutorials. I just recently went to MAGWest, the west coast spin-off of MAGFest, and I was taking a trip down memory lane while playing the PlayStation games they had there. My OG PSX and PS2 no longer works, so this is a great alternative.

I completely overlooked this emulator until today. People asking on reddit about problems regarding EPSXE were literally being told that the best fix is to just switch to Duckstation. I've been using EPSXE since v1.0.0 and sadly it really is time to retire it. I love how Duckstation can alter controller inputs without having to exit the game (as the settings are not locked during runtime with this emulator). The ability to pick your game from a menu is nice too rather than using File->Run ISO every time.

I get to the download bios part. But when I extract it, it's just a BIN file. Any help available?
I got mine to work and even transferred over memory card/saves. I am trying to beat The Legend of Dragoon and I'm running into a glitch of some sort for the final boss. Wish me luck Lol!

Thanks for the tutorial on setting up as this requires a third party bios set up! Thanks for being detailed and bringing back some old nostalgia to my life. Going to play all the ps1 games I played as a kid like: Metal Gear solid 1, Final Fantasy 7-9, legend of dragoon (amazing rpg) and many others :) Was hoping you would include a site to get roms for duckstation as some might not work as well as others. would of been nice to have been guided to a lefit spot to get roms for ds

Be so so careful when downloading the ps1 bios! Romsmania download gave me a virus which I hope I removed. The correct file is a BIN file which won't need to be run. Really dumb of me to run the virus file (labeled Playstation BIOS) but the more you know...

Thanks for this!! This could be really helpful!! I've never even heard of 7-zip until now. I just want to play my favorite PS1 game, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (and possibly 1000's of other games too!). By the way, WinZip should be FREE on every PC but, you know...$$$

yo the bios link opens to some completely different random page with nothing really related to the bios, can somebody help?

When I extract the bios it just extracts as a bin file and when you add it to the bios folder DS does not recognize it
Same problem... he didn't put the link so I've been trying to find my own bin file anywhere else with no luck..
@@YokoshimaOfficial i figured it out last night. take the bin file and put it in your bios folder. when you open duckstation, skip through the initial set up. once you are on the actual application. go to your bios and select the "browse" option to select the bios folder. when you get to your bios it will show that their is nothing there...click open anyway.. then it accepts the bin even though it wont let you select it in the folder. its weird but it works. Hope this can help

Was suprised to see that the ps2 emulator didn’t work for ps1 games, considering the fact the original ps2 could run ps1 games
When I extract the bios file, my computer doesn't read it and I cannot do anything with the extracted file. Any ideas how to solve? I downloaded it on my onexplayer mini (handheld console)

I am downloading the bios file, but when I extract it I am not getting the same result as you are. No new icon pops up. All my steps leading up to the extraction work fine, this is the only difference and I don't know why.
Been following this guide but get stuck when it comes to extracting the bios file, my computer keeps saying 'cannot open file as archive'?
Anyone know how to fix this? Up until that point everything was going smoothly. Would love to get this up and running so any help is appreciated :)

A tip if you want to make the emulator portable. Create an empty file named portable.txt in the same directory as the DuckStation executable.

extracting the bios file to 7zip doesnt seem to do anything for me
I have a problem where when I'm playing on a Keyboard, certain key inputs get stuck even though ive let go of the key, and it stays on until I press the key again, so sometimes I just keep going left or right, or keep performing a certain action etc. Duckstation is the only emulator it happens on and I'm unsure how I can fix it.

When I extract Duckstation, the files extracted are missing some you show from your duckstation video. The. I tried to extract the BIOS that you showed, and when it extracts to the desktop it shows a file or a folder looking thing and yours extracts as a triangle logo. Then it doesn’t run when I follow the steps. Any suggestions? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I got a question, I did all the setting done as u shown in the video. but apparently the file "duckstation-nogui-x64-ReleaseLTCG" is missing in my folder

I really don't understand why Duckstation doesn't just come with its own BIOS. It's like selling a car with no ignition. Why do they have to make it this complicated? Back in the day when I wanted an emulator I would just download ZSNES or whatever, install it, and run it and boom I could load roms and start playing

i dont know ma,n i downloaded , extracted ,unziped, anyway possible, the roms i downloaded from internet archives. And still duckface cant see them. so whats the problem?

was an epsxe user, but after learning about duckstation I instantly switched over.
