I’m doing exactly the same. The 7 plus was an awesome phone! Hasn’t left my side since the day it came out and was eventually in my hands! Going to be sad to retire it.
I honestly believe the 7 to be one of the most perfect iPhones ever made. It’s A10 processor and refined body initially seemed underwhelming at the time, but almost half decade later, look at all the people who are still running it with their 1st gen AirPods.

@@Richard_Barnes maybe but if I’m being honest I seen a lot of early pro Max camera test so far aren’t overly impressive (over the 12/12pro) obviously the iPhone pics and video are downright amazing but like Rene mentioned I think for the Pro models Apple need to upgrade the optical zoom for the telephoto camera. Rene, I enjoy your videos and reviews! Thank you for pointing out that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is really not much bigger than the iPhone 11Pro Max. In fact the difference in size is minuscule.. I’m so tired of people saying, “Oh this thing is HUGE”!” It’s not! The other thing I want to point out is that many iPhone users (regardless of phone size or model) are TWO HANDED USERS. I have owned every iPhone model since the iPhone 3G.... I have never used a single hand to operate my iPhone. There are lots, and I mean LOTS of two handed users... it’s something I take note of when watching other people use their phones.

@@lavontelorick7659 Depends if you're transferring videos onto your phone from your cameras. I have a GoPro and Insta360, and the videos are 4k, so they tend to be around 30gb every time I download them to my phone.

I upgraded from the 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro because I often found the dimensions of the Max to be unwieldy. I have both an iPad Pro and the new M1 Air, so I'm covered for large screens. I need my phone to be easily one-handable, and ease of slipping in and out of pockets is crucial as well.
Why do you think Apple decided not to use 120 Hz displays? Do you think it’s solely for the purpose that when the new iPhone comes out whether it’s called the 13 or the 12 ass they will have an upgrade feature?

Rene, could you do a video that explains the big problem so many of us are having with using Dolby vision on our iPhone 12s? Here’s the confusion, and there are several points of confusion: 1. If we film in Dolby, edit it properly in FCPX, export it as a master file, and upload the master to TH-cam, have not we just lost the Dolby quality since TH-cam probably converts it to HDR10? 2. If we want to film in HDR and not Dolby, how do we do that in settings on the iPhone 12 Pro Max since shutting off HDR (the Dolby option?) puts you back in SDR? 3. What if I want to shoot in HDR, 1080p, 30 fps, but not Dolby? If I shut off Dolby, doesn’t that put me in the dreaded SDR? Help please.

I absolutely LOVE my iPhone 12 Pro Max, best phone I’ve ever had! My only complaint is it’s so heavy! Laying in bed looking at it, you get nervous.. You know if it falls and smacks your face, you’re either getting a blackeye or a bloody nose..
Hey Rene! Did you make sure to use Halide or another third party app to make sure that the phone doesn’t just crop the wide camera when you tap 2x? At least in those low light shots??? Recently found out that even on the 12 pro it still does this, as in, night mode isn’t really on the telephoto, night mode is just now enabled when the wide is 2x digital zoomed lol
Hey mate. How are people getting such great battery life? I would say mine is beyond average. 12 pro max, 1 week old getting 6hrs sot with 9hrs off the charger. I’ve had apple run a diagnostic test and come back all good. I run no auto brightness and have it manually set to half or under. Spend majority of my time on TH-cam and socials. Thought these phones were meant to get upto 14hrs sot

Every year I hear tech reviewer talk about one handed functionality but at a pro max and plus size phone user, this has never concerned me. I’m mostly able to do things with one hand but when/if I can’t do something one handed, using 2 hands is second nature at this point. People who are buying plus sized phones I think already know this. I don’t think there’s anybody out there who wants to know if you can use these phones one handed. They either get the smaller-mid sized phones because they just don’t want a big phone in their pocket or they do. Even when plus sized phones first started coming out for Apple at the 6 plus. I guess back then it would’ve been nice to know but for the most part over the past 4 or 5 years, phones have kept the same form factor.

Reachability mode - start the swipe down inside the bottom dock area and in between app icons. If you do this it works every time. 😂 (you were swiping the screen so got search mode) Also /me - runs to find a potato................ I really wanted the 12 Pro Max cameras and battery life. But I have a work XS Max phone and I hate using it because it’s so uncomfortable to handle for long periods of time. I decided to go with the regular iPhone 12 Pro. The cameras on that device seem incredible, even the 2x telephoto. And even it’s battery will be better than my current iPhone X. And like you I’m looking forward to someone coming out with a MagSafe wallet-sized external battery. It’ll make Pokémon GO Community Days so much better than carrying a really big external battery with a wire. Here’s hoping.

Depends on what you are going to us it for and most importantly your budget. If you plan on keeping the phone for a long time and plan on taking a lot of photos and videos than 512 GB might be worth it if you can afford it. Go Gold if you like flashy and cool, go Graphite if you want something more laidback and classic. Pacific Blue and Silver are also good options too.
I can't decide between the 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max. So thanks for doing this great video showing some of differences and the strong points of the Max.

Have you had any over heating issues? Today I got a temperature warning that blocked me from using my phone for around 2 minutes. Contacted Apple support and they told me it could be the case. The Apple MagSafe case! iPhone 12 pro max.
Every year I hear tech reviewer talk about one handed functionality but at a pro max and plus size phone user, this has never concerned me. I’m mostly able to do things with one hand but when/if I can’t do something one handed, using 2 hands is second nature at this point. People who are buying plus sized phones I think already know this. I don’t think there’s anybody out there who wants to know if you can use these phones one handed. They either get the smaller-mid sized phones because they just don’t want a big phone in their pocket or they do. Even when plus sized phones first started coming out for Apple at the 6 plus. I guess back then it would’ve been nice to know but for the most part over the past 4 or 5 years, phones have kept the same form factor.

Love your video. I’m coming from an IPhone XS Max. My 12pro max has a yellow screen color (True Tone off) and not as bright as my 10. I like my XS max better. Just wondering why the change and if I’m missing something. Thanks!
Reachability mode - start the swipe down inside the bottom dock area and in between app icons. If you do this it works every time. 😂 (you were swiping the screen so got search mode)

I really wanted the 12 Pro Max cameras and battery life. But I have a work XS Max phone and I hate using it because it’s so uncomfortable to handle for long periods of time. I decided to go with the regular iPhone 12 Pro. The cameras on that device seem incredible, even the 2x telephoto. And even it’s battery will be better than my current iPhone X. And like you I’m looking forward to someone coming out with a MagSafe wallet-sized external battery. It’ll make Pokémon GO Community Days so much better than carrying a really big external battery with a wire. Here’s hoping.

Thank you! Finally someone who doesn't say the Pro Max is huge! It is only a smidge taller when compared to the older version! This year, I'm going back to the Pro Max size because of the camera. Wished Apple didn't make that difference in the camera because I like the Pro size iPhone.
I am on an iPhone 6s. Can’t wait to buy the Max! The iPhone 6s did an awesome job but it’s finally time to upgrade. I hope the Max will get me trough the next 3-4 years. I’m hyped! :-)

Depends on what you are going to us it for and most importantly your budget. If you plan on keeping the phone for a long time and plan on taking a lot of photos and videos than 512 GB might be worth it if you can afford it. Go Gold if you like flashy and cool, go Graphite if you want something more laidback and classic. Pacific Blue and Silver are also good options too.
Love my 12 pro max. So good to have a qualcomm modem again, reception is so much better than my XR

I was worried that the Max would be too big but you put it in perspective. I currently have the 7 Plus and thought about just going pro, but after watching your review it made me feel better about ordering my Pro Max. Thank you!

I’ve been thinking about an iphone with the frosted glass but the aluminium sides... the pro and the normal 12 are so similar already. can’t we just have one medium sized iphone? the naming would be so much easier.
