Another superb video Todd but, sometimes I wonder if the word should be a Difficult video? So many people who have so little. I'm with you on not giving money, it will quickly lead to tourists and visitors being regarded as cash cows. We saw that in one of your earlier videos where kids were actively begging as a result of tourists just not understanding what happens. Providing help in other ways is much better and, it also reduces the chance of any help being abused by other family members to buy booze etc. I had wondered if you sometimes got negative reactions from local traders when you give donation packs, it seems so. I can understand but I don't know the answer. In some ways it makes me think it's better to only give out the donations in villages where there is no market or stores. I just don't know the answer... What is small change to us, is a lot to people who have almost nothing.
Todd, Neenee and Mina, thanks for sharing the video. Keep yourselves safe.

@@NowinLao I know what you mean. My home is the UK but I travel to S Africa quite frequently. On one of my recent trips the weather had been terrible and the rental car I had was a filthy muddy mess. I stopped for a coffee and a sandwich in a small town, looking for a servo with a carwash. A youngster approached me and asked if he could wash the car for me. I was a bit sceptical because I didn't want any damage or scratches but, I let him, while I went for my coffee. When I came out the car was gleaming better than when I picked it up. All he asked was 10 Rand, the equivalent of about $1 AUS. Anyway we got talking and I learned he was working odd jobs to buy some new school shoes, there was just him and his mother. He was 14 but looked a lot younger and, hungry. You'll understand when I say you can tell when someone is genuine and this kid was. He did get his shoes a lot sooner than he expected and, something to help his Mum, who was so gratefull for a couple of bags of basic food as well. Driving away after a couple of hours in their little home, I had to stop a couple of miles down the road to take some deep breaths.

Very true regarding that the merchants might have a bit of resentment of possibly taking away some sales. My husband and I had a close call with that. Happened to drive all around a small village in Mexico first before handing out a fairly large supply of children's clothing. The last turn was a food stall and a child's clothing shop! We were so relieved we had scouted it out first. Might have hurt her sales for quite a while. We ended up taking the items to several different villages further down the road, always a need. Also, as the beautiful Gibbon grows, I hope it is provided a safe, large cage to roam with a more natural environment, greenery, etc. I know it is dependent on humans now. Thanks for the great video!

This was a heart wrenched! 1st,,that food looked heavenly,,especially Mina's fried rice. The hardware store was most excellent,,and the fact they had slabs,,was frosting on top. Man ,,brother,,this little girl has stolen my heart from 10,000 miles away,,alway skipping,,smiling etc. I do hope she can spend a bit of time in V-town with you guys too. Now,, you were correct,,they were the poorest looking people you've ever shown,,quite a few even had the malnourished look. They still mostly had smiles and were friendly. I'm glad you dont just toss money and things about. That's what the NGO'S have done on Africa,,and everyone sticks their hand out for the farang. I've heard its especially bad in the countries where NGO'S have been the longest. I've seen vlogs from Lagos,, and Mombasa that make a person not want to visit. Super, super aggressive beggars. We have a relatively high percentage of panhandlers here because of the native American reservation here,,but I know most of them from tending bar,,I know they have families they can go home to. So mostly when they hit me up,,I tell em to fuck off and go home. I do buy a bag of McDonalds burgers occasionally,,they cant trade that for cash. An awful,,sad,,sickening thing happened this week. A woman I've known a long time,,non drinker,, takes care of her grandkids,,she had a daughter about 27 or so murdered,,never solved,,about 8 years ago. This week at night,,the boy was playing next door,,and Grandma 's house caught fire. The boy ran into the house woke everyone up and they all made it out,,but the boy went running back in. He had some kittens and they think he ran back in to get them. And that was that! The poor little dude never really had much of a chance in life,,but his aunties and grandma loved him. His dad was in and out of his life,,I used to work with him. He's a shiftless sort,,has kids with 4 or 5 women,,doesnt pay for any of them. Sorry for the downer,,that shit happens all to often around here. It just makes me really appreciate the fact you and Neenee took and interest in Mina. Hope you guys have a good weekend.
