Poor Grandmother Begs us to Raise Her Little Girl.. This is what We're going to do
Our Wild Laos series comes to an end. Finishing in the little village of Lavec in the Hmong district of Muang Hom, Xaysomboun, Laos. A very remote and poor area of Laos where time moves very slowly. We have travelled this way with one thing on our mind, and that is visiting the little girl Mina. Just 6 months ago her grandmother asked us to take her to Vientiane with us and raise her. Give her a good education and fair shot at life.. Now we are back
Everyday life in Laos, we live in Vientiane, Now in Lao with Lao wife, Neenee Lao life living in Laos capturing the Lao lifestyle, daily life in Lao, where to go in Laos, travel destinations, Laos tourism, customs, Lao development and how people live in Laos in their travel Laos videos and travel vlogs. no matter how deep your pockets are or how big your hart is you can never solve the whole world's problems so if you can do just do one little thing for one person it makes a huge difference for many people.
Just in point! Every contribution matters
A thoughtful resolution to a complex situation. Your commitment to Mina will undoubtedly have a positive and lasting effect on her life. She really lights up when she sees you and Neenee, a heartwarming episode, very touching.
Probably the best photo montage outro yet, brilliant.
Appreciate that Michael, thank you
💔 Heartbreaking story Todd, my friend. I think you and Nenee can really impact Mina's life for the best. You and me mate are around the same age, I was 1965 March 1oth. I think she will be hard but she will bring great joy to your lives, as you keep going on the journey and she goes with you. Todd, you and Nenee are kind loving people and that is rare, let me say mate, you are makings of a great dad. Cheers and thank you for leading me to these videos. I will watch this story then go back to where I left off. You will be hearing from me Todd, Love people like the two of you, stay frost mate, and have a frosty and keep being a blessing🙏🤙Hang ten brother.
Your doing a wonderful thing mate . I lived in SE Asia for 8 years.
The situation with the little girl is that local people are very pragmatic, especially when poverty is involved.
I was involved with some charities also.
Just trying to help you with your discernment.
Love your channel.
CHEERS MATE !!!
Much appreciated Wes, thank you
Unfortunately there's so many in her situation and being a little girl makes hers worse especially with the father being that way. Wonderful Aussie spirit at work Todd and NeeNee. I've witnessed that problem over the last 18 years as I work and assist in orphaniges in and around that part of the world. Uplifting to watch and see what you do mate. ATVB to you both for all your efforts. Bushyboy Oz.
Always great to hear from you Bushy. Thanks mate for what you do also
To take on a young child, like that is a massive responsibility, I think you have made the right decision,
Beautiful work Todd and Nenee! Saving grace for some of these kids. Just the simple shirts that the two of you give will inspire those kids to be kind to each other and will truly break that cycle one day. Keep doing what you are doing in giving hope to your adopted country. We all are looking forward to next adventure with the both of you!
Not to be a Debbi-downer, but Mina will properly end up working the field all day and night when she turns 10 or 12yrs old especially in her situation. Also, if Mina's abusive father finds out that someone is supporting her, her well-being might be in Jeopardy since she's so tiny and defenseless...so please keep an close eye on her.
I think that was the best and safest possible way forward to help little Mina. Sending money is an absolute No. Paying the School fees and any other expenses direct at least guarantees the door is open for her, and, she's clearly eager to learn. Much respect for you both Todd and Neenee, and also Grandmother for taking charge over Mina's poor home situation.
Thank you Phil 👍
I wouldn’t mine adopting her cause I have a little girl about her age but I would think she would be missing leaving Laos to America. I was about her age when I was sponsored to come to America since 1980 and I’m glad that I had a second chance in life to live a better life outside of Laos which is one of the poorest countries in Asia
Thanks! Todd and Neena, I want to support Laos people. I was born in Laos but my mom was from Thailand. Please make good use of money to help Laos people for me. May Lord Buddha bless you, your wife and family. Stay healthy and safe.
We will certainly do that for you. Thanks for helping, much appreciated 🙏
Thanks!
Whoa! Your help is much appreciated, thank you 🙏
She's a great grandmother with a hope and a dream. You are giving her a blessing to see if she can continue to hope and dream. You are a dream creator. What an honor!!!
Thanks Juli 💚

Todd.. the hug from Mina at the start and NeNe holding hands with sweet Mina told the whole story. God bless.🙏🙏🙏
You are like the only guy doing good Lao content! I've lived in Taiwan for the last 10 years . We are fortunate not to have this type of poverty. Keep up the good work cobba! I hope someday soon I can do a motorcycle trip at the golden triangle. Thailand, Lao , Burma , Vietnam ! Cheers mate
You guys are awesome. You could’ve just driven away and forgot her but you didn’t. I’m sure the arrangement will change a little as time moves on but you’ll find away to adapt and roll with it. You’ve given a little girl hope and a shot at a bigger life. Best of luck to all of you. 👍🏼❤️
great black and whites, really enjoyed that series. Thanks
I would like to do the same as you. Not just throw money, but ensure that it definitely goes to the child.
Thank you so much for the whole Wild Laos series Todd. You and NeeNee are wonderful people who quietly go about helping others who are less fortunate than yourselves. I think that your commitment to Mina is great and you have made a wise decision not to remove her from her home, friends and family. She is a survivor and with your help, particularly as she gets older, will ensure a bright future for her and remove her from the never ending cycle that is so common in rural Laos and also here in Thailand. As you Aussies say "Good on ya mate" Thanks again for sharing your journey with us and for your stills collection at the end. God bless you both and keep you safe 😀❤🙏
You guys are amazing!
Hi Todd and Nee Nee. Absolutely brilliant video visiting little Mina, again. She is so adorable and she looks comfortable being with both of you. Thanks for the surprise shout out, mate. Mina can wrap me around her little finger. Very beautiful young lady. I pray for the best in everything she does. I will continue helping for her support and success. I got teary eyed at the video call at the end. Take care both of you and stay safe and healthy always. Cheers mate!
You have always been very thoughtful and generous with your support John and deserve at least a little recognition for your help. It really goes a long way and you can see the help it provides. We couldn't reach the number of people that we do without supporters like yourself and my Patrons.. Thank you my friend.
You are giving a speech but Neenee and kid look happy the video shows excitement between the two
This must have been tough for Neenee. 😢 The years til Mina is old enough to leave will pass quickly, though. ❤❤❤
Sounds like a wonderful plan. Having a young child like her wouldn't work for us either. Well done Todd & Neenee, 💖💖
I believe the grandmother is a very good person trying to get her granddaughter a better life
All praise to Grandmother 👵 🙏
Great jobs guys , little mina will benefit massively from this gesture , you've went about this situation in the right way , just brilliant 🙏👏
Thanks Mark
Todd and Neenee, you are too good. It breaks our heart to see this lao girl not get a good start in life. Below we have given a donation . It's the least we could do. As always, we love you guys dearly . Be Well .🙏👍🙏 Jim and Harriet Richmond, Va.
Because we have supporters like yourselves, all this is possible. Thank you 🙏
Really Like the way you two handled that situation. I think it was best for all. Good job mate!!!
Thanks for your continued support my friend 👌
You have an excellent idea of how to raise the girl appropriately and I like your way of thinking very much, Thank you for all you do💖✌ p.s. I like your black and white photos at the end you are quite a good photographer. Peace, and Love from Thailand. ☮🌴🙏❤
I appreciate that David, hope you're doing well down in the south of Thailand mate 😉
As always Todd a great vlog
You and NeeNee always do your best to help
Similar situation Tland, held a wee 7 week old baby and now 8 years later the grandmother wants me to adopt her..she thinks I’m very kind so trusts me..we’ll end up doing similar things for her as you do..for me it’s take care of the children, it’s not their fault for the situation they’re in 🙏🏻🕊
Awesome vlog... I'd wondered what happened to Nina... Well done Todd and Nee Nee... what an excellent outcome for everyone.... making merit...🙏🙏🙏
I totally agree with your decision to help the little girl. But what makes her different from her siblings !!!!! Of course, it's up to you.
The grandmother wasn't begging us to raise her siblings Bill.
Wishing you both success ,long life and strength for every day is a day making this little girls life so much better and what's better knowing when your final day comes and the material things are left behind nothing can replace this continuing legacy .
Todd, Neenee, you are doing the right way - May God bless you.
She has nice hairstyle.
Bless you for your help & support.
Unfortunately there are many millions of children like this & the worlds governments do nothing to help them. I'm convinced leaders want poverty to remain as it is, because they choose not to help & yet they spend billions of tax payers money on things that are totally wasteful for us now & our lives.
I've see so much of the world's poverty for my own eyes, from mid African countries to South American & Asia. It's sole destroying.
It's a very very sad & broken world we live in, unfortunately.
As I have lived in Lao and my wife is Lao I think I can say you are to this the best way there is. Nice job for this little girl.
good job mate, you are doing the the right thing
u guys are nice for doing that for the lil girl, god bless u and ur wife
Wise plan, Todd & Neenee. I think all of us are now looking forward to watching little Mina grow up over the next several years. Wishing you all many blessings!
Take her in. Adopt her. Will be your best life decision.
This is heartbreaking. It is so hard to believe there are still countries where children are considered "expendable".

FULL MARKS Todd - Beautifully narrated and well thought out strategy - You are both WONDERFUL - CHEERS
Thank you kindly Jeff 🙏
A feel good story, Sounds like a great plan..
Todd, most of us Westerners have no idea how desperate people can become due to their abject poverty. I've never experienced it personally, but I do personally know and have befriended a few people who were literally sold, as children, to human traffickers. At first, I thought it was inhumane and immoral. How can a father, mother, grandparent, guardian, etc. give away or even sell off some who relies on them for 100% of their needs? But as you pointed out, this grandparent is looking at it very differently, she wants to end this cycle and this was her best effort in attempting to have Mina grow up with better prospects than she has at their village. In a very genuine and loving way, this was perhaps the most caring thing her grandma could have done for her. Far be it from me to ever judge what's in another persons' heart! All I can say is I kinda have an idea of how these things might work? One thing I'm pretty sure of is this little girl now knows that it is possible for her to be unconditionally loved and valued as the person she is, by others that didn't have to do anything yet did!
Cheers to you and Neenee for being that example for Mina and Me. I'll shake hands with you both someday soon, for now give Mina a big hug for me and everyone else🙏
ron:)
It’s a beautiful thing you’re doing!❤
Outstanding, God bless you both. You both have heart’s of gold.
omg so lovely. Best smile ever
God bless you both. You are wonderful people 👍👍👍👍
Good move Todd and NeeNee, proud of you both. Bob. (Across the ditch.)
Yeah had similar experience there. The domestic violence rate in Laos is alarming imo. I hope Mina's poppa stays out of the picture
Todd..that's what we call Yam..in Malaysia..that purple root that you were eating..
What a poinient way to finish another amazing tour mate. The best thing is its not the "end", its a "beginning" for one poor inoccent soul. Sound decision making all round regarding that little 0ne - I sponsor an orphanage here in Isaan, my thinking is if I can't help all the individuals I CAN help the collective to make sure they have all the necessary basics with some extravegances thrown in too. Its all about helping as and when you can isnt it. Looking forward to meeting up matey. 🙏 ( I am playing catchup with your vids as I am back in the UK to look after my very old mum but I can't wait to get back home )
Take care mate 🙏
Thank you guys for your kindness. Good things will come upon you. Sathu 🙏🏽
I think all the comments have covered it and the photos .
Thanks to the patrons , Todd & Neenee
🙏🙏🙏
Your B&W photos would make a pretty nice book with some captions and writing about the places and people they capture.
God bless you pair of beautiful people for all the help and support you provide for the less fortunate and especially for the generous support of little Ninda . She’s such a beautiful little girl.
My heart goes out to you all.
Great job mate 🙏🙏
Thank you Steven
all i can afford to send are blessings mate you two are awesum..🍻
Your interaction on my channel is support in its own way and helps. Thank you 🙏
Hi Todd and Neenee, thanks for sharing your trip with us all love the black and white photos. For years i supported a little girl in thailand sent money every month for food clothing and school and repairs to house, im in Australia so was hopeing every thing i sent was for young mook, but she got nothing the family took it all and blew it on alcohol and gambling, in the end mook wasn't be taken to school and by the age of 14 got pregnant, so sad and so discusted what her family did. So the way you guys are supporting that little girls is spot on well done. Lots of love from Australia.
Sorry to hear this Scott. Cash is too big a temptation to people in poverty stricken areas unfortunately. Very hard to direct who gets the benefits of it from afar though, I understand.
Good onya Todd. I understand what you are progressing with as I've lived over here nearly 20 years now and helped out similarly with my Wifes family. Good luck with everything, hope the little one gets all she needs to live a successful life.
If I see you in VTE I'll shout you a beer mate!
Thanks mate, sounds good 🍻
Don,t bash yourself up mate you are doing a bloody top job. Any dramas with cabbage I am happy to help out no dramas ol mate.
Btw, you have such a gift with the still shots. I hope you take tons of pics!😉 It’s frustrating to not be able to 👍🏻or❤️ each shot
Todd, I'm in China and finally got my VPN to work and always pleased with the show and what you guys are up to.
Great to hear Donald, thank you
job well done, helping the little girl.
Thank you Dave
🤗🙏🏼!
A well done tour 👍, enjoyed every bit of it, thank you.
Have a great weekend.
Thank you Teo for your continued support with views and comments, thank you 💚
I never thought badly of the grandmother in the first video. It is kind of a shocker the first time it happens. My draw dropped when it happened to me but I did have quite a bit longer relationship with the family.
Very thoughtful is an understatement... Beautiful, very noble.
Appreciate that Ade.. cheers mate 👍
god bless
Attaboy Todd! 👍👍👍🙏
Couldn't do it without you guys! Thank you
Hey Todd, l had wondered what happened with Nina, it’s great you can help out with education. Take care Nev
Thanks Nev', Zona. You haven't cut yourself yet mate?
Anyone that can't see the great sacrifice of this woman seem to me as ignorant of the situation in the rural areas of s e asia
Onya mate. Heartwarming story.
Fostering kids for a better upbringing is not uncommon here in rural Thailand either.
So many excuses for not taking her, what’s to top the father from continuing to abuse her.
Great stuff Todd and Neenee
You guys are sooooo precious..ty..xoxo 🥰👍🖐🤟✌🤪
Loverly insight into Lao they are such friendly people I found, great Still photography
Heavens bless you!
great video this is my mom's country hi from France !
That's awesome guys you two are fantastic.
todd neenee that was best decision .that vlog made me cry .
Great outro. It's amazing how many kids there are in this village.
Safe Travels
Excellent Video. Love the song and montage. What is the name of the song?
God bless you and Née née.
Hi Todd,,I'm sorry that's the way things worked out. But I completely understand! At our age,,it would be damn tough to start raising a little kid,,even as sweet as she is. You can definitely see that there is something special about that girl,,quick to understand. Yeah 10 or 12 should be a good time. Mina has a Yank Uncle in Montana! Lol Ttyl,,,Marlon
Will be sure to let her know that Marlon, cheers mate
Welcome Todd. Great work. We will keep supporting your great work ❤
Thank you so much 😀
God bless your heart!
❤
A great outcome mate 👍👍
Thanks bill and all your support mate, every week.. Champion! 🍻
Nice work guys.
You two are great people ❤
Very emotional music
💯🔥💙👍
I was in Laos this year and it definitively has something that makes me want come back. By the way - great video, I see you have more interesting content here
Spend too much time here and you wont want to leave 😉
Looks like they need more TV’s in town . The young have nothing better to do.
Great Vlog, been waiting for this one. You both handled this the best way, although it would of been entertaining for us to watch you look after her in Vientiane it would make for whole different Now in Lao 😊 but she is better for now with her family, friends and community that she knows. Yes when wanting higher education you can look after her if she wants to get out of the village.
Love the photos, great street photography, what camera and lens are you using? You need to do ebook 🤔☺️
Thanks. I'm a Fuji user Stephen. This trip was captured with an XT-4 18-55mm lens. Most other trips I have used my X100T... much easier to travel with and a little less intrusive 😉
Cheers
@@NowinLao cool. Yeah I found Fuji even for a mirrorless still feel big to hold compared to other brands. The ones you recently have done seem better and sharper so the xt4 is the go 👍
Loved it all 👍🙂
ສະບາຍດີ
it's got to be hard to leave a little one behind, great that you are able to still reach out to help her though...peace
You guys are amazing 👏
Bless you!
Great Job and as always your compassion and love for the gir is so overwhelming. TOD,I could be wrong but the ultimate solution is to give them access to capital so they can start small businesses and sustain themselves like a community small business loan interest-free.
Sorry, but cash is the last thing you give people in these situations.
