  • Jaws 2 is probably not as bad as you remember. I mean... it's bad, but compared to what comes after it... ... anyway here are its sins.
    Thursday: martial arts sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

Fun Fact: Marc Gilpin claims that when they were shooting one of the scenes on the makeshift raft of wrecked yachts, they were being circled by a real hammerhead shark. The actors were scared and began to scream and holler at the production crew, which was filming that particular scene from a distance. The crew was oblivious to the danger and assumed the actors were simply "in character" and gave them the thumbs up.

As much as Scheider didn't want to do Jaws 2, he still put in a great performance. Especially the scene at the town meeting after he fires his gun at a school of bluefish. "I'm telling you and I'm telling everybody at this table that that's a shark. And I know what a shark looks like because I've seen one up close! Roy Scheider apparently didn't want to do the sequel, but the contract he signed for the original movie promised he would star in three or four movies. Unfortunately he was legally obligated to star in the sequel, so he supposedly decided to be as difficult to work with as possible to get fired from the next movie. I personally like to think that Roy channeled that frustration into his character, to really sell his performance of making Brody go mad. It would also explain why he so suddenly is written out of the future Jaws movies in an offscreen death.
