@@lesbear9828 hello Les. You’re very kind to think of me. To update you we (myself and my doctor) have come to realize my poor eGFR and Creatinine was due to a combination of drugs that had a bad effect on my Creatinine. It was two cholesterol meds that, one normal dose and the other an extremely high dose. The prescribing doc was in Fla where we lived for two years then came back home to NJ and saw my old doc and he knew something was up. Took him a few visits and months but he got me off the high dose and just to a single smaller dose and it’s pretty good. eGFR IS 74 which he seems please with. I h ave blood tests each year as on BP meds, nothing ever mentioned, wish I had been told as I feel I could have made positive changes earlier , when I was younger and fitter feeling a bit down with it all.
If is possible if your uric acid isn’t controlled. Your doc can run blood test to check and prescribe medication if necessary. This is a challenge I had to deal with personally and it is now under control with medication.
I got stage 3 and my back pain hurts bad. I don't know anything about anything. My kidney Dr just keeps giving me meds that supposed to lower my blood pressure but just makes me faint. I'm losing my fight and will to go on.

Hello ! thank you for all this good info .. I noticed you mentioned uric acid ? What do you take or eat to deal with uric acid ? My son was recently prescribed allopurinol he’s only been on it 2 wks !
I'm on the same med - currently at 200mg a day. I go in next week for new labs and my guess is I'll be increased to 300mg a day. High Uric Acid is serious - you'll want to get it down and medication is the fastest way. As my Uric Acid has come down, my eGFR has returned back to normal (low 30s for me). Diet has an impact and I feel that part of mine going so high was getting in a rut with my diet. I was eating the same thing almost every day. I got on an Asparagus and other purine-rich foods kick along with having more sugar. Variety would have been helpful in my case, but I feel in love with grilled Asparagus for lunch and dinner. Once my Uric Acid is back under control I'm going to make sure and eat variety and not get stuck on the same thing day after day. I also needed to cut back on sugar and increase fiber.
@@DADVICETV thank you for your response ! It’s all so helpful as we are new to learning all we can ! I’m here for my son trying to help him .. his GFR is 59-60 according to his first labs , he is on 100 ml allopurinol a day for gout flare ups , he’s also changed his diet we also love asparagus ! We could have it everyday lol. We do cauliflower and green beans too and trying to limit his red meat intake .. I feel better to know this Med has helped you With uric acid as he is now on it , hes 35 not a drinker or smoker he’s had gout flare ups for 2 yrs- thank you so much !
Allopurinol worked to prevent gout flares for me for 10 years, along with vegetarian diet and losing alot of weight. But my liver enzymes shot way up for years. Once I stopped taking it, my liver enzymes returned to normal. I have been drinking more water and having a lemon a day ( low pral) to help with uric acid excretion, and that seems to be working pretty well...
I think it would be wise for you to bring the possibility, or idea, of 'conservative care' to the conversation. Do it when you have the retired Nephrologist on so he can add to the pool of experiences. You do not have to be pro or anti. Just present the facts for all of the more elderly to hear before being shuttled off to a dialysis dungeon.
I do so like watching your videos, James! I have been working with my dietician for several months now, and found out that my insurance has no limits on visits as long as there is a need! HURRAY for original Medicare! Lol I have occasional episodes of hyperkalemia, so I do need to watch my potassium levels, but it is pretty easy... I am allowed up to 2000mg per day-- but aim for 1500mg sodium. I don't always hit goal, but I do manage to get back on track most of the time. COVID lockdown has taken a huge toll though, I am very stress-reactive, and I am now in stage four. Got to figure out how to let it go! (cue : me singing FROZEN theme song...)LOL
Hello: I have not been diagnosed by a Nephrologist yet - appointment coming soon - but my blood work came back with a egfr of 57 and Creatinine of 1.11. I have a duplicated collecting system with hydronephrosis. Would that be a contributing factor?

I can't lose weight for anything. I hurt like awful for 8 years? Abdominal pain so bad that I sleep on ice all night. And we have winter snow 6 months long.
Thank you.
💘
Linsimopril raised my BP, heart rate, pulse way too high...hospitalized and on a monitor...once linsinopril was removed values returned to normal
What to eat when you have kidney and liver issues. Foods fight each issue?
My potasium is high so was given a list if food I can't eat due to hyperkalemia.
You should also ask your doctor if any of your meds increase potassium.
If you get test result saying you have kidney failure. What does this mean?
Hello ! thank you for all this good info ..
Allopurinol is fantastic. 😊
Where is Jen Hernandez 's office? I need a dietitian badly. 😊
Hi there, am also new James and Jen
It’s very hard to get an appointment with Jen , any recommendations?
When can I find the diet
Thank you for your good advice ❤
What is the normal stage number of kidney
Can we drink milk tea...tea with milk ...means black tea with milk
Where can I find a good diet for kidney, is canned ok?
where can i find the blog
I do so like watching your videos, James! I have been working with my dietician for several months now, and found out that my insurance has no limits on visits as long as there is a need! HURRAY for original Medicare! Lol
I have occasional episodes of hyperkalemia, so I do need to watch my potassium levels, but it is pretty easy...
