Yes, this would not work if you truly have a hard cap on what you're willing to spend. Even if $50 dollars is a super steal but you can only afford to do 30, this would not work. You would have to be a bit flexible with the price. Should have mentioned that.

You can get something at great price from them , because they just want to sell fast and not into competition game... Just bid 1 million dollars and you will win the item. it doesnt mean you will have to pay the actual 1 million dollars. Ebay has an automatic bidding system when the bidding closes your 1 million dollar bid will be reduced to just 1 dollar above the last bidder's bid making you the winner.
What if the next highest bidder who bids just before (7s left) you (6s left) put in like $100 for example and you bid $120 for example. Would you then have to pay $101?

@@dawnblush its not a trick its dumb you should only enter the most you want to pay. never just put a 100 dollar bid. say you got a tool that is only worth 25 dollars to you but you put the 100 or whatever and someone else wants the tool but they want to pay 90 then your bid will be 92 dollars. the only way this would work on items that dont get bids or many bids or will never go to that price but u can end up paying some good money for something that is not worth it. all you need to do it enter your max bid. then another thing you can do is use easy snipe. its a 2rd party ebay tool thru ebay that allows the easy snipe to bid for you the last 3 seconds of the auction. i have been selling on ebay for 20 years. a lot of people swear by it. i personally never have used it but i run auctions on ebay weekly and a lot of them. this method will get you in trouble or inevitably put you in a situation where you pay more or have to ask to cancel and that counts towards your status on ebay. if you cancelled two sales in a year my store will not be able to but from along with many others cause us sellers can set the standard to shop at our stores as well. i can put someone with more than X amount of cancels or non payments will be blocked,.
So what if another guys max bid is greater than yours. Its possible that you could be over paying especially if someone else has a fake account and placing max bids

I think this strategy is a bit of a gamble so it really depends on how risk adverse you are. Also if you feel others will bid $100 max, maybe do $99 😂

What if the item is $1500? If I bid $2500 at the last second and the second highest bidder bid $1700 would I only pay $1701?

You’ll only get it for $110 if someone set their max bid at $109 (probably thinking the same way as you and using this same strategy).
