Would love a tag along video on jeans you turn down and why and jeans you pick up and why. Theres sooo many even within a single brand its crazy. Thank you for your videos I'm a mom of 3 one of which is autistic so reselling has been our saving grace income the past 4 years, just trying to get away from breakables because there is an abundance of them here in ohio but I hate shipping them!
For sure! I sprinkle in some jeans I pick up throughout some of my videos but I don’t mind talking more about them! That’s amazing you’re able to have reselling income to help you! ❤️
Carrie, GREAT Video Girl! Anyone who is new or looking to start, needs to watch this series. You explain things in layman’s terms which make it easy for people with no experience to understand. Love the plug for the group! I joined a month ago and can’t imagine Reselling without the Reseller Greatness Group! I have shaved 6 months off the learning curve already! Looking forward to the Series of the New eBay Store to $3k!
A few more good categories are DVDs, Books or Music. Also kitchen appliances or vacuums as these 2 categories you can sell just parts - a blender say may have 5 parts and a vacuum 10 to 15 parts so that gives you lots of listings. How many times have you seen free vacuums tossed aside - thats 10 to 15 free listings!
Yes so many parts and very cheap to get....usually free and it doesn't matter if they work just toss away the parts you don't need. I am guilty of too many categories but I am thinning that down. I definitely focus on 100% sell through now on whatever I buy. I don't like clothing but seeing what you do with jeans I may dabble now. My favourite niche is DVDs. I like your channel. You and your husband are very good and keep up the good work!@@carrieathome
I just found your channel! So glad you made this video because I'm just starting out on ebay. I saw another one of your videos where you were homeschooling your kids. I'm a homeschooling mom of two. So cool to see someone succeeding in this that's in the same stage of life! Thanks for the guidance!

Thank you Carrie! This video was extremely well done and most helpful. I took many notes and will be putting your plan into action immediately. I was recently "down sized" by a company and need to get this going so I can be in charge of my own path. Can't wait for the follow up videos.
Love this video. I have been thinking of selling on EBay but not sure how to start. You answered a lot of questions. It was so informative. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to see the new series. 😁
Thank you for the video, informative and to the point. It would be great to see a video of your storage system. Also how do you calculate how much to set aside for taxes. Thank you!! Lets win this end of 3rd quarter 💪.
I ship most everything via calculated shipping and I never have issues. It should come up on the buyers and what it would cost them just by their location. I usually also give other options for shipping so they can select what is the cheapest for their area. I also pass on the discount to the buyer that I receive.
I’ve found that calculated shipping charges a large amount more than necessary for some reason. Finding a flat rate that works across the USA would most likely be cheaper than what calculated offers, which would also pass an even better discount for your buyers. It’s something to consider!
Hi thanxs I am a few years down track now time to niche down ahhh thank you , your video makes soooo much sense ! Tech and sports is fab ! Can’t wait to see your new store !
I found this video very helpful. I'm already in the group but I've been considering nicheing down. The walk through to find items info was so helpful because I'm a visual learner. May I ask what boxes, bags, and shelves you use? I need to fix my inventory eventually.
I sell all types of Collectibles on eBay.. Hot Wheels, Action Figures, Sports Cards etc etc.. $3,000 a month would be a dream.. I’m learning a lot from you.. I will continue to watch your channel.. Thank You for your help.
I simply cannot just sell one thing 😅 I would start to dread thrifting but I started looking more into jeans because of your channel! I don’t doubt that selling one specific thing is a good way to make more money.
Niching may not be for everyone! It definitely helped us make more money focusing on one category but I know everything sellers that still make good money 😄
New sub here. What a phenomenal video! You are so very appreciated for taking the time to detail the step by step processes. Because, really… that’s everything! God Bless you! ❤
Amazingly helpful video. Right on time for me. Will be watching over and over. I noticed you didn't factor in taxes in your profit calculations. When do you focus on taxes?
Glad I can help! If you want to calculate tax, go for it! My sales tax is really low so it doesn’t matter much in my calculations. In this example, if I were to take tax out, it would have been $0.20.
Hey Carrie. Help! My Honda is full of jeans and it’s all your fault. After a career in advertising and marketing, your niche approach appeals. We’ve been selling one product on Amazon for 6 years but aren’t confident in Amazon with its record of working with sellers; too risky. So, I’ve been looking for another backup source of income. I found incredible bargains out in the wild on my first day of sourcing. Amazed that my husband enjoyed it too. Stacks of $.50 jeans? That leaves lots of room for errors. Ch-ching! Love your videos. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you so much! This helped me so much since I’ve been thinking about niching down too. Btw, what size are your boxes? Are those the 30x8x8? Thanks!
Just found your channel and am new to reselling so I thank you very much for all of this content.👏👏👏👏 I'm looking for the link for the group to join and could not find it?
Hi, thanks for the super in-depth video that addresses so many facets of selling. I have a question about the poly mailers. Do you offer the customer a choice of flat rate or ground advantage? I would think on smaller items, if they chose flat rate, it would be even cheaper for you if they chose flat rate, as the post office is paying for the envelope.
I only offer ground advantage and have two shipping price points. $6.99 for the less than 1 pound items and $9.99 for the more than 1 pound items. I charge those so they cover the shipping fee and the $0.15 mailer I’m using to ship. :)
Great advice and presentation. Thanks. BUT WHERE do you buy items in sufficient quantities at a low pricee that you can sell at a high price consistently? That seems to be the core of reselling to me: get something consistently low priced you can sell at a higher price. I'd be surprised if you can pick up at a local store for e.g. $5 what you can then resell for $30, rinse and repeat.
so just starting out with things from my closet including clothes, shoes, jewelry but then I have random home things. Is that a bad idea to have home items mixed with closet items? Great video.
Thanks for watching! I switched over to an ebay store subscription when I ran out of free listings (which I think is 250). As for when I saw consistent daily sales, it didn’t take long for me to start selling at least one a day. Unfortunately, I don’t have any notes to look back on for that answer. I’d like to say that when I reached around 100 items was when I saw consistency. But it does depend on what you’re listing. Just because I have 100 listed doesn’t mean any of them will sell. Gotta make sure they’re good items at a good price and they’ll sell 👍
Hi! I recently stumbled across your channel because I am super interest in reselling. I was just wondering if you have any tips for someone like me who is not close to thrift stores, my nearest bins is about 3 hours away and I have some smaller goodwills, but they don't really have anything great. Also, I am wondering why you chose Ebay and not other stores such as Poshmark or Mercari, and why you choose not to crosslist? I am curious, and I think you have a great inspiration of a store so just wanted to ask! Have a good day!
Hi! I don’t cross list mainly due ebay supplying enough traffic and I don’t want to run any chances of double selling an item. I believe ebay collectively sells in one day what Poshmark sells collectively in a year. So I’m selling where most the shoppers will be. :)
@@carrieathome Thank you Carrie! I’m trying to jump from Poshmark to eBay. I have been selling on eBay for a year but it’s so much harder than Poshmark. I didn’t know about the flat shipping strategy so I’m gonna go through each listing right now to change that 🫠
Good question! That part helps you find brands and items that are in your region that are being bought and sold on ebay. There are plenty of items that only the east coast would really have that the west coast wouldn’t, so on and so forth. So instead of potentially learning brands and stuff that you won’t ever find in your area, using the item location will help guarantee you’re learning about stuff that is in your area. Hope this helps!
Your content is so helpful. Is there a program you use that you could/would recommend for tracking inventory and sales, fees & profit? I am currently using a spreadsheet but wonder if there's a more efficient way that would allow me to import and export data easily between platforms.
Great video! How do keep track of your inventory? Do you list your items on a spreadsheet when first purchased then mark it sold once that happens to include selling fees?
You can of that helps you understand your numbers better! I’m the beginning, I just remembered how much I spent on the item and could calculate it like that.
Hi Carrie, l just started watching your videos and they are very inspiring. I hope one day to be doing what you’re doing with my husband. I did have a question though with the sell through concept you went over. You said that you should search within 25-50 miles depending how far you’re willing to source why is that exactly and why would I only be searching that distance when I’m selling everywhere in the U.S.? Sorry, I am new at selling and new to this concept so just need clarification. I would appreciate it;-)
No problem! It will show what items are in your area that others are buying and selling so it’ll give you brands and items that you’ll find in your local thrift stores. Some brands are really only found in certain regions so instead of spending time learning brands you may never find, you’ll spend time learning brands that are in your local area.
Hello. Will you list the info on the metal yardstick/ruler y’all use to measure the clothing with. I’ve not been able to find one that has all the smaller measurements on it, only the ones that list just the inch. I noticed the one y’all use has all the measurement numbers. Thank you so much.
Thank you for mentioning to use flat rate shipping. I am in Canada and though I sell on ebay and use flat rate, I never purchase on ebay because everyone uses calculated and the projected cost to ship is astronomical. I mean outlandish. If everyone stopped using that calculated shipping tool, I'm sure sales would skyrocket.
Yea, calculated shipping is crazy high. I do believe Canada is considered “international sale” for U.S. sellers so there may be extra fees and stuff on your end as a buyer. But I’m not 100% sure about buying internationally.

Would you be willing to do a video explaining how you pay yourselves? Like a percentage or if you have a set amount that you spend on inventory every month and then pay yourselves the rest, etc.
I don't like using "sell similar" because I find many times other sellers have input incorrect information into the listing. I end up editing all of their erroneous info anyway so I may as well start from scratch. And sometimes they have put the item in a category which I don't agree with and I end up changing that partway through and then have to go over the entire listing AGAIN. ugh
Reselling is a nice side hustle! It will take time to grow it to the point where it can pay all the bills, but it came start out paying some bills if you sell desirable items right out the gate!
Question Please regarding flat rate shipping. I have been selling for a year, and let's say I know the weight and size package for the item I am selling, and on average, it would cost $8 shipping. However, I live on west coast and if someone buys it from Florida, the actual shipping will probably be more like $12. So if I choose flat rate shipping I will eat $4 from my profit. How do you account for that?
You can make a draft if you’re selling similar items! You can also pull a sold comp off your own ebay store and create a copy from there. That’s what I do and it’s how I make my listings so quickly.
Yea I use the dryer for the jeans. I honestly don’t know what setting I use, it’s a “smart” dryer so it dries until it sense all the moisture is gone. Lol

Question for you, how many items do list per day? I watched your 120/day challenege but normally, what is your daily list goal?
We usually do 30 items a day.
30 a day for us!
Thanks! That seems reasonable. :)
120 a day is just crazy
I’ve been searching for a video like this thank you so much
Glad I could help!
@@carrieathome awesome thanks!!
Awesome video, im glad i found it (and you guys) im also jumping into the ebay/youtube world and need all the help i can get 🙏
Thank you 😊
Welcome aboard!
I loved this video!! Thank you Carrie!
Do you offer free shipping?
Thanks for watching! I have buyer pay flat rate shipping 😊
@@carrieathome Thank you Carrie! I’m trying to jump from Poshmark to eBay. I have been selling on eBay for a year but it’s so much harder than Poshmark.
I didn’t know about the flat shipping strategy so I’m gonna go through each listing right now to change that 🫠
I'm a little confused on sorting by location. Why would that matter when ebay is a global platform? Lovvvvvving this video! Just a curious question!!
Do you know that Hayley of Hairytornado gave you a huge shoutout during their What Not show last night? It is how I found you and subscribed!
Awesome! Glad to have you here 😄 and yes! Someone told me and I’ve reached out to Hayley to thank her!
I found you from there too!
Thank you for this video…are those poly mailers safe for clothing -like jackets?
I'd say so!
Love your channel & thank you for the video, this was really helpful. Looking forward to the store that you create live!
So glad!
Your content is so helpful. Is there a program you use that you could/would recommend for tracking inventory and sales, fees & profit? I am currently using a spreadsheet but wonder if there's a more efficient way that would allow me to import and export data easily between platforms.
There’s a program a colleague of mine has created! You can find her stuff over at @Simplified Accounting with Cheryl on TH-cam!
@@carrieathome Awesome. Thank you!
Great video! How do keep track of your inventory? Do you list your items on a spreadsheet when first purchased then mark it sold once that happens to include selling fees?
You can of that helps you understand your numbers better! I’m the beginning, I just remembered how much I spent on the item and could calculate it like that.
Do you have an inventory system you record in is what I meant
Okay that makes total sense. Thank you so much!!
Great video! I feel like I learned a lot! And I am looking forward to your new series. ♥♥♥
Glad you liked it!
Hello. Will you list the info on the metal yardstick/ruler y’all use to measure the clothing with. I’ve not been able to find one that has all the smaller measurements on it, only the ones that list just the inch. I noticed the one y’all use has all the measurement numbers. Thank you so much.
I believe I bought this from Walmart in the fabric section!
Where did you get your reselling ruler at for the clothes? Thanks and your videos are very helpful
Walmart!
I just bought the same one at Walmart two days ago 😊
I set an amount that I always want in the ebay bank account. Anything past that threshold, I send to our personal account
Omg thank you so much!! Can't wait for that new video!
You are so welcome!
Carrie, what clear bags are you using to store the jeans??
12x18 polybags :)
Hi, this is great so far. Thank you! How do I locate the Ebay Calculator? I don't see it.
Thank you for asking! It gave me the idea that I should link it in my description for easy access. So I just added it to the description for you!
@@carrieathome Thank you!
WOW. Thank you. Super helpful information!
I don't like using "sell similar" because I find many times other sellers have input incorrect information into the listing. I end up editing all of their erroneous info anyway so I may as well start from scratch. And sometimes they have put the item in a category which I don't agree with and I end up changing that partway through and then have to go over the entire listing AGAIN. ugh
Question. Hello how many returns do get receive a week? Great video.
It comes in waves lol so last week I had none and this week I already have three
Thank you so much. This was extremely helpful. I wanna go back to school and still pay my bills somehow. 😭
Reselling is a nice side hustle! It will take time to grow it to the point where it can pay all the bills, but it came start out paying some bills if you sell desirable items right out the gate!
Love your content. Very helpful.
Have you come across Evisu jeans in the wild yet? Found a pair at Goodwill recently.(they are selvedge)
Yes! They're soooo cool :D
You’ve blown my mind. I’ve been wondering how to figure out what to source. This is so helpful, Carrie. You’re an angel. Thank you! ❤
Hi great video . Can you give the link to the group you mentioned I could not find it
Look at Technsports TH-cam channel and he’ll have a link to it! It’s his group :)
Do you have a link to a list of the supplies you use? Where do you buy the poly mailers
I don’t have a link but I purchase them off Amazon!
What size box do you use to store your items? Where is the best place to purchase them?
They’re 24x10x8 and I bought them off Uline’s website
Could you do bolo for Pants?
There aren't many out there.
There’s a good amount! I just don’t like bolo videos mainly because I feel like they’re goose chases lol
Thx you! For used clothing. Do you wash it all or just if it is soiled or has spots?
You’re welcome! Yes, ebay policy is to wash pre-owned clothes. 👍
@@carrieathome thx you for clarifying.
Is there a way to create a listing and save it for later? Like a draft? I didn’t notice that option.
You can make a draft if you’re selling similar items! You can also pull a sold comp off your own ebay store and create a copy from there. That’s what I do and it’s how I make my listings so quickly.
Awesome Video. Thank You.
You are welcome!
Great video, I've already learned things.
Awesome, thank you!
Do you put your jeans in the dryer? If so what settings?
Yea I use the dryer for the jeans. I honestly don’t know what setting I use, it’s a “smart” dryer so it dries until it sense all the moisture is gone. Lol
Do you recommend going to yard sales to source clothing? Thx
I personally don't recommend it unless it's a church rummage sale or subdivision sale where a lot of sales are close together.
Thanks for your help!
