@@JoshuaTootell second this. Makes the artistry of the official video just that much better. For a lot of us with technical minds and backgrounds like seeing how all of it was done over the video itself I feel.
ONE SHOT, PEOPLE. One amazingly-planned, meticulously executed shot. This video is fire. I could tell it was done in one shot, so it was rad to see a shot-of-the-shot- very next level. Nice work to the creative directors and crew! (And band of course!)
I'm so charmed by this behind the scenes, how everyone is focused and working and moving together so kindly, such frank trust at every technical exchange (the camera man being lead safely through the chaos, the dressers and band stripping off costumes, ppl scurrying quiet and hunched to get to the next shot, etc.)
This makes the song feel so chaotic seeing what's going on behind the camera, but I love it. The coordination that goes on with dozens of people in just a small amount of time, it's amazing.
This video is absolutely incredible. Here are some things I noticed: 1. At 0:23 Dan has orange dots on his suit instead of blue. This could have possibly been the case so he would match the color of the basketballs, as we can see that the dots (on the wall) are still blue in the same shot. 2. At 2:17 the camera rotation-device appears to jam, and you can see them struggling to make it turn. 3. From 3:05 to 3:26, Dan is wearing a yellow outfit. This is because he and Andy had swapped roles - At 3:07 Andy is sitting atop the fake-hole, and at 3:22 Dan climbs up the yellow-staircase (hence his yellow clothes). 4. At 3:12 Tim walks out from behind the mirror too late :( 5. At 3:32 Tim is wearing a different outfit while he walks across the green and white checkerboard room.
I have always wondered how Damian like floated along in the “I think I understand you but I don’t” and I thought it was one of those scooters in I won’t let you down
The music video is sooo cool. And this is just as cool, too, because you get to see how much people worked behind the camera but manage to be concealed in the actual music video! Congrats to OK Go and everyone who worked on this!
Wow, that's insanely awesome. I swear OK GO is my favourite band, not only for their songs, but everything else and these videos, man! So creative, so cool! Seriously cannot express my love for these people. Wow.
Bravissimi -- fine work! Lovely, clever video and a great earworm of a song. It's been since Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" back when I was in college that I've seen a video that really elevated the form like this.
All this time I legit thought the camera was on a track for most of the song, but no, it’s this man and his godly ability to keep his arms still while moving
what hapend in 1:03 when Andy start climb with a completely brown pants after removing his suit and at the top he uses red pants in one leg and strips in the other leg?
Ok, the making of video are not "one shoot", but the compilation of the attemps. If you check as you says when he has the bue dots, he dosen´t use gloves, but when he has the orange dots, he has yellow gloves. The video of the making of has parts from the various attemps they have done. But this don´t mean that the final version was not in one shoot or remove any genius from the video. Great video.
All the hard work and creativity they put into their music is just one of the many reasons I love this band. Now I'd like to see this kind of behind the scenes footage of the Rube Goldberg machine video! :D
I am still wildly impressed by all the work that has gone in to make this video in a one-take. So much respect for the team that clearly have put a lot of work into this video :-) This sets the standard so much higher than many other great videos :-) love it :-)
This is even more fascinating than the actual video! Of course it doesn't stand alone; it needs the actual video for context that makes it fascinating, but still, this is AWESOME!
That's because they shoted various attempts after they reached the final goal. This "making of" has scenes of some "failed attempts", that's why the clothes are different. But the final videoclip was actually recorded in one shot.
Haha, future1997 is right! At 3:30 to 3:37 the clothes are different than in the 'final' video. The 'one shot' effect is just an illusion, like in many others OK GO videos. There are many cuts hidden, both in the final video-clip and in the making of (well, there are many obvious cuts in the making off...). Great video anyway, a lot of talent involved, and even more to fool the viewer to think everything was made in one shot...they succeded pretty well...
In front of the camera: calm singing and quirky illusions
Behind the camera: war
To every single person that made this video happen: You're the coolest. Thank you for bringing good stuff into the world.
Behind-The-Scenes is equally impressive as the original clip! What an amazing experience! What a band!
I'd watch an hour of behind the scenes footage of this. Spectacular video, everybody. Thanks for continuing to make awesome art.
I actually enjoyed this more than the actual video
+mikosoft same!
+mikosoft Really? I liked the other one.
mikosoft same
Every behind the scenes video just makes the original so much better.
@@JoshuaTootell second this. Makes the artistry of the official video just that much better. For a lot of us with technical minds and backgrounds like seeing how all of it was done over the video itself I feel.
I love how they show the entire team behind the scenes at the end of their actual video clip. Amazing team effort!
From the video you never would guess it was that hectic.
so this is actually really a one shot?
Actually really.
Daniel Loo Then why cloth is different on 3:36? Maybe it is failed shot then, I'm guessing?
Sorry, I'm failing to see what you think is different. Could you elaborate?
Daniel Loo look when the green room is shown, his jacket is different than in original video
Shit good eyes, you've got me there.

This video was so AWESOME!!! I've watched it 10 times now!
Thank you!
now THIS is how you shoot a music video..
The plethora of people running through the set that you never see in the final product is MIND BLOWING!
The fact that you do these in one take is incredible.
This makes the song feel so chaotic seeing what's going on behind the camera, but I love it. The coordination that goes on with dozens of people in just a small amount of time, it's amazing.
Watched it thousends of times and I´m still impressed by this perfect matching coordination!
I don't know what is more amazing, the video or the filming of the video being made. Thanks to the band for sharing this!
Man, there was some pretty tight spots in there, getting members to the right locations just on time. SO COOL.

5. At 3:32 Tim is wearing a different outfit while he walks across the green and white checkerboard room.
For 0:23, it must've been a different take. Immediately after we see him with blue dots.
@@rulerofprogram I know. :)
I have always wondered how Damian like floated along in the “I think I understand you but I don’t” and I thought it was one of those scooters in I won’t let you down
1:32 Look at Damian spinning on down! Wow this is really amazing!
The music video is sooo cool. And this is just as cool, too, because you get to see how much people worked behind the camera but manage to be concealed in the actual music video! Congrats to OK Go and everyone who worked on this!
Awesome! And made on the GH4 too which makes this extra rad. This BTS really shows how it's done.
I did not know that and shows CSC capabilities - so cool!
Wow. The video itself was already insane, but seeing all the work put into making it. Wow...impressive as mess guys!!!
Wow, that's insanely awesome. I swear OK GO is my favourite band, not only for their songs, but everything else and these videos, man! So creative, so cool! Seriously cannot express my love for these people. Wow.
I really wish I was in any way part of the production process.. SO much hard work yet so much fun..
The thing that makes this so special is that it's one single shot
After watching this you definitely get a feeling for why they cheered at the end. :)
This was sooooo cool! Great job to everyone who made it happen
素晴しい!カメラの裏ではOK Goメンバーの他にもあらゆるスタッフさんが常にフォローしていたからこそ出来た作品!
Synced this up with the original music video...amazing!
Watching both videos at the same time is a trip
I'm so emotionaaal lol theyre so creative, talented, and hardworking!!! All of them. No one isnt!
Bravissimi -- fine work! Lovely, clever video and a great earworm of a song. It's been since Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" back when I was in college that I've seen a video that really elevated the form like this.
i would give my right arm to work on an OKGO music video! looks like sooo much fun!
I wonder if they still have there warehouse set up/painted like that
+Ryan Wilson i just realised how much i want to visit a Museum of OK Go
+Morgan Harris With the rig from Needing/Getting outside :)
And a Chevy, a russian plane, lots of green screen, a duck...
Ok Go. The kings of music videos.
All this time I legit thought the camera was on a track for most of the song, but no, it’s this man and his godly ability to keep his arms still while moving
at 0:23 the dots on his shirt change from blue to orange? the fuck has happened?
***** wtf
***** Definitely spliced from several takes. Good eye for continuity Abe!

WTF? (Is that an okgo reference?)
The word " cut " in the end of mv is very powerful.
Amazing how, in all this chaos, there are extra cameras recording the chaos. Too cool!
I'm exhausted just watching you guys do all that hard work! :)
All the hard work and creativity they put into their music is just one of the many reasons I love this band.
Now I'd like to see this kind of behind the scenes footage of the Rube Goldberg machine video! :D
💕❤️💕
Sending respect to the creative, talented and hardworking team effort that put "The Writings on the Wall" video together.
I love it. Never seen a video that made me think or turn my head and wonder before. I love it.
ok go has the best vids! you can tell a lot of time, effort, and love go into making them. great job to the entire crew! :-)
Love this just as much as the official video!
This may be even better than the video itself
The video is amazing. But the behind the scenes makes you appreciate it even more.
Honestly, this is way more amazing than the actual video, seeing the controlled chaos BTS.
I am so in love with this song.
I am still wildly impressed by all the work that has gone in to make this video in a one-take. So much respect for the team that clearly have put a lot of work into this video :-) This sets the standard so much higher than many other great videos :-) love it :-)
Incredible installation!!!!!!!! I mean....... WTF have you all done!!! Magic guys!!! Congrats to EVERYONE!!!
Creatively, it must be just an amazing feeling when you pull off something like this.
I watch this with the official video at the same time, just awesome!
Truly you are awesome!
researching optical illusion and this video came up. amazing teamwork! wish to listen to more of your new music!
I now have a great understanding and appreciation of what it took to make this video the spectacle that it is
this is awesome! i wish all bands and singers would put this much effort into there videos!!!
That's a lot of work, and the precision of every move is impressive!
This is even more fascinating than the actual video! Of course it doesn't stand alone; it needs the actual video for context that makes it fascinating, but still, this is AWESOME!
his clothes aren't the same clothes he wears in the video from 3:30 to 3:37, how and why?
Who's?
Really Really AWESOME. Aleays thank you for showing us amazing videos
You guys are insanely good !!
This is as good as the actual video. Great work by everybody involved!
The making of this video, way better than the actual video
collaboration at its finest
the awesome music video ever!!
More amazing than the final product.... wow.
That took a shed load of organization to pull the video off... Brilliant
Dear God, this is amazing! What a privilige and pleasure it has to be, to be part of that process.
This looks like so much fun!
I feel like the only reason they made this video is to use a fire pole (at 1:30) for a practical reason. I love it.
Watching this and the music video at the same time is pretty neat!
0:23 why do the circles on the jumpsuit suddenly go orange in the side shot, then back to blue in the front shot??
Wow...lots of effort..and the output of the video is AMAZING!
0:24 the dots on Dan's jacket are Orange?!
I just noticed that... And confused.
That's because they shoted various attempts after they reached the final goal. This "making of" has scenes of some "failed attempts", that's why the clothes are different. But the final videoclip was actually recorded in one shot.
this it's Beautiful, how come people are not liking this...?
Even the behind the scenes is skillfully done! Incredible (:
The video gave me goosebumps. Well done guys
