Thanks for the tip! There are some times when off-roading that I'll want to leave it in neutral on purpose. Maybe I'm mired in mud and will be working the winch, etc. This also helps with the seatbelt ding if you're moving with the seatbelt unbuckled.
This "safety" feature is the stupidest thing I've ever experienced on a truck. It's a TRUCK. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew about all of this bullshit.
The irony is that the only people that will be saved by this "safety feature" are the one who really shouldn't be. This feature goes against the evolutionary process.

well i decided to bypass the door ajar switch so i could jump in and out of the truck when doing what ever. so i go out there and get the door panel off and just about every thing else and come in here to look up the wiring diagram and found your video then when you showed the extender it dawned on me. my son told me 2 years ago if i wanted to bypass the auto park plug in the seat belt. so thanks for jarring my memory i am back in business again.. going to purchase a couple of those extenders so the next time i wont pull the door apart again.
I hate that stupid auto park too! Have it on my ‘18 Rebel and ‘19 JL Wrangler, scared the crap out of me the first time it activated too. Same issue you mentioned, hooking up the trailers is a big PITA!!! The other issue I have with the “nanny” features is getting use to them while driving one vehicle and then forgetting they aren’t there to “protect” you when operating a different vehicle!
Great video, thank you so much for posting. The tip regarding the Fumoto valve was helpful. Since posting, do you have recommendations regarding the filter? Is it still necessary to replace the entire housing cartridge, or have you seen an after market filter (only) that works?

This is so frustrating in my new Jeep, we have a gate on our probably and in the years that I’ve been driving I’ve never closed the door when I jump back in to pull through the gate. And yeah it always freak scares me when it slams the brake on!
Or, keep a 16p nail in your door or one of the many trays and when you open the door you can use the nail to “lock/close” the doors latch and the truck will think the door is closed. Just remember to pull door handle to open the door latch so it doesn’t bang against the stud in the frame of the door.
Hey man I have the same truck bought it brand new with 77 miles I’m at 52,000 almost 2years later and my heater core went out unfortunately it’s not covered under warranty they said it’s not Included in my drivetrain or powertrain

I got stuck in an underground parking garage. Every time I tried to drive away it slammed into park. My seat belt was on. Did my ram think I was getting to close to something? It was so embarrassing as the parking attendant kept telling me to pull forward and I couldn't. Has anyone else had this issue?
More common is that someone whom is new to the knob type shifter doesn't realize they are not in park and tries to get out of the vehicle and crashes into whatever is in front of them, or runs themselves over.

Took my truck in for an oil change got home and couldn't figure out wtf was going on.....unbenounced to me they did the update.....the Irony is they refused to undo it....Imagine buying a truck then later havingvthis bs forced on ya! Great. I’m at the lumber yard, open the door to inch toward a load without running over a stack of plywood and bang. God damn stupid feature on a 4WD truck. Stupid. Awful. Absurd. Not to mention the fact it could mess up the park pin or whatever in the transmission. A better way to achieve this would be with the braking system, but that would just be the right way to do the wrong thing, so whatever.
Xuran is correct. If you leave it in there all the time, your truck over time may think there is a fault and disable the airbag system. My son's Honda civic has a faulty switch in his buckle, it is stuck in the position that causes it to think that the buckle is always buckled. After so many key cycles in his vat the srs light comes on until we clean the switch and reset it using a jumper wire in his USB ii port.
Not sure why you over dramatize this feature. You just have to EITHER shut your door or have your seatbelt on. No other yada yada hoop jumping. I always close my door because I learned to backup with a mirror. Also I have accidentally put the truck in rev (rotary dial thinking I put it into park) jumped out and trucking started rolling back. This was before the update. I'm fine with the update and the electronic nanny.

That should be easily fixed by shutting off the parking sensors with the switch above the console

Go into apps then settings then driving assistance then just turn it off.

It also throws emergency parking brake on for minutes not just until the door is closed the feature don’t work how it should
