@Drum's Heaven @Drum's Heaven bruh, he adds syncopation, accents, ghost notes, windchimes and so much more paprika to the mix, making drummers like Larnell Lewis, Sput and JT sound more phenomenal, cuz he adds to the percussion mix.
Agree, that's the type of drummer other musicians want to play with. His groove is real smooth, but if you listen real close there's a lot of subtle details going on to give that rhythm nice texture.
th-cam.com/video/DDIGrvG6lL8/w-d-xo.html watch this. This insane aswell. At some point he plays double bass and two high hats with his heels at the same time
there's parts that sound good, but there's alot where it doesnt sound like he's even in the right key. he's off in wonderland while everyone else is in the pocket.
The moment when we all first realized that Goku was about to transform into a super sayian against freiza. That’s how I think many of us are feeling lol. Zildjian we thank you 🔥
Wooooooawww, his solo part is maybe one of the best I´ve heard, and I´m no kid. He plays so many notes, all with a meaning... his rim/snare work is incredible, so tasty... absolutely amazing!!
He did the same with Aaron last year! It’s not that he doesn’t enjoy all the drummers he plays with but certain ones make him wanna keep jamming even after the chosen song, Aaron and Marcus did that to him
Javier Grant exactly. That was my reasoning on saying this. He love them all but you can tell the ones that nailed it first couple of takes! Love this atmosphere man!!! One of the best out so far!
That brother has unbelievable control but it was way to advanced for me to feel it and appreciate it as much as I probably should have. My mind wasn’t ready! Lol!
This may actually be unplayable...I mean...even if you gave someone 2 lifetimes to learn it, I honestly don't think they could even come close to repeating this. What an absolutely brilliant performance! You would swear those drums were literally part of his body, that's how free his playing is. This definitely motivated me to practice more.
omg that killer solo at the end was chaotic but there was a beat...the beat was so spiritually lifting, shaking away all the days bs. WHEWWW medicine MAN! and yes, Zildjan all these should be on a album omg
Marcus is to his craft what Pynchon and DeLillo are to post-modernism literature. He is a giant! I am a professional writer who has been playing and studying jazz drums/percussion now for 30 years and I cannot tell you how Marcus does it, but his playing is an inspiration to my WRITING. Taking chances, pushing the art forward, always serving the greater purpose (the music). He is truly a magnificent blessing.
Think about the pressure that all of these musicians must feel when asked to do a solo amongst all of these ridiculously talented musicians...holy cow!
These guys are so good it's not even really pressure, it's just second nature like comedians sitting around telling jokes. Improvised solos are pretty stressful until you hit this level, at which point you are so inundated with theory and experience that it just flows out of you.
For me, Marcus' solo drumming is enigmatic and beautiful and just... beyond words. someone else in the comments section here praised the sound engineer too which i think is totally appropriate... the mix and micing of the drums (along with the great background instrumentation) seemed to provide just the right canvas to display Marcus's genius. i've often found myself enjoying to watch great drummers as much as i enjoy listening to them. with Marcus i feel like i just need to listen - he is channeling or pulling something from the quantum realm - and i feel i better appreciate the scope of its magnificence when the sound is everything - all consuming. again, hard to find the words
I just love how Sput didn't want it to stop. It was great the first time he kept playing and then Marcus jumped back on his kit to jam with them and then when that ended and Marcus got back up, Sput started playing *again*, lol. I can't blame him, though. This must have been incredibly fun for all of these musicians.
Dynamite song Seriously Dynamite everything is correctly put in place keep doing your thing ghost note and Marcus Gilmore fantastic drum Style so amazing
Wow he sounds amazing. Not just chops, not just groove- theres so much emotion there too. Also- holy crap the spring on his pedal is so tight, he must have ripped calves
The Young guy is soaking all this in @ 3:14 😎😂,, reminds me of when I was about his age when I 1st heard, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke , The Brecker Brothers, Return to forever , Yellowjackets , etc. , and then I found out about, Louis Armstrong , Lou Donaldson, Bird, Trane, Miles, etc. , back when all we had was vinyl / records/ albums, no stereo yet, I know there are about two people that remembers those times 😅, but it was sounds / harmonies/ moods of music never heard before . My Point partly is to thank the parent(s) for allowing thier kid to hear other genres of music , especially if u can see they are feeling it at that age, when I was his age my parents purchased a Bundy Saxophone for me, I’m south of 60 now and like all kids I wanted drums, finally bought a modest set of digital drums so I wouldn’t drive my Wife crazy, yea, better late than never, just practicing rudiments, paradiddles, fundamentals, . Muscle memory can still be learned even at my seasoned age, but the discipline is what pervades All Ages and Myself , better to do it earlier at a younger age,, but, DO IT, plus music helps so much with Stress Release ! 🤯🤬🤧😎
Dude's grandpa is the legendary Roy Haynes!!! I've met Marcus at Monterey Jazz....just a monster player and such a nice guy....excellent performance here as usual! What a killer solo and great ending!
Im stuck in this and its not easy to get out. Seriously...that flute part, those Dynamics on drums, the ridiculously good keyboard solo that blew my Head off, the guitar solo after. Everything is great. Congrats for Sput and friends and everyone that were in that Room.
I have to agree with so many comments and repeat that this has got to be up there among the most sophisticated drumming performances (and M. Gilmore one of the most sophisticated and amazing drummers) of all time! What a sound! What a top form band!
@@thehomeland5861 His body could probably complete a solo after you cut off his head. Once you have pushed that much of the mechanics down into your body, your head has vastly more cycles available to just direct it all. OTOH, being new to the drums, it takes 110% of my CPU capacity to play a groove, so any stopping to think about what kind of fill I might do overloads my circuits. Interesting how far back he grips as well.
I have played this track for more than a thousand times since the very day it came out ......shout out to the drummer Mr Marcus Gilmore and Ghost Note the Band and ZILDJIAN COMPANY
How fortunate are we all to be able to enjoy this from our couch?? I have so much respect for all of these musicians, all coming together to elevate one another. I didn't think it was possible to love Zildjian more as far as product quality and experience goes, but they just keep on giving. Zildjian live is a treat. Turning me onto so many new drummers and Ghost Note is superb.
This track is so LIT! Sput, we need this! It's funny, u can almost see all the drummers thoughts via their facial expressions on what they'd do on this. Track is husky, great musicianship guys!
I don't know how much credit is given to the band, but those guys make perfection every song i hear on these vids. Incredible work by Marcus by flowing so well with them!

Their playing style is just beautiful.

heck, this is the best so far... the progression is just sooo smooth
It's crazy how he just kinda flows and then blends into a structured pocket then back to an open flow again. This guy is on a whole new level.
These guys really like each other. I know musicians who can't stand each other. Been part of bands like that. This is nice to see. 👏👏👏
Saw Ghost-note in SF in January. It is the most fun I have had watching music in a long time. They are a don't miss show.

Know your right. Peace.

Xavier Taplin's keyboard solo is sublime. So beautiful
This is by far most technical and melodic drumming I’ve ever seen
I feel guilty that we listen this beauty just for free
The more of us that watch it the more they get paid for advertising :)
"free"
I don’t
Yeah me too, but hey I am broke so in gonna grab this opportunity to enjoy.
