Take a > 3,000 dollar clavinet, add a manual wah (which brings nothing compared to pedal) and make a totally forgettable solo sounding like some two-bit single-note fusion guitar. Whatever.
It's a castlebar clavinet, it's not a wah it's a whammy effect. Also, you realize the clavinet was designed with the exact intent of sounding like a guitar right?
@@benc3699 Yes, that makes sense, my bad, I should have said put it through a vibrato effect. I can believe that's true about its genesis, like Rhodes and Wurlis were meant to sound like pianos and they don't go anywhere near that tone. I also listen to reggae and funk and know that the clav sounds every bit as good when not sounding like a guitar. With due respect for MM&W who seemed to only use it through loads of distortion. This solo with the whammy bar remains painful to my ears but maybe I'm jealous because I'll never be able to afford one, with or without whammy bar
Anyway I don't like that virtuoso college band sound, never have. Everyone is a better player than I could ever hope to be but still don't like Snarky Puppy though I've tried. No grit, no surprises, millions of notes, no space.
@@electrosonicnebula I will definitely agree that sonically it's a bit of an odd choice to target the resemblance of an electric guitar solo when you consistently have world class guitar players alongside you.
@@benc3699 Anyway i'm excited about my new plan to use the Honer Pianet T as a poor man's Rhodes and see how it sounds through a couple of pedals including an EHX Key9 and see how close it gets to Rhodes and clav in case it has a clav setting
What an amazing live show, and Mark Lettieri’s insane solo at 1:20:47 was the perfect way to end it. Damn, that was wild! 🔥
if i could i would hit a thousand times the like button
Wow! They were BURNING! Maybe my favorite live show so far.
Dang man. The band really showed out for this rendition of Sleeper. Shaun ain't there but he's there
Snarky Puppy ... what a fantastic band! Great to hear them with such an enthsiastic audience. 👏👍

Sleeper without Shaun was sad.
this is just... devastating. All of it. I'm done! That's it for me guys 😂🤣😭
No kick drum? Really hard to listen to this without it
Distorted funk violin solo. Ok, in my 42 years on this planet, I have NOT seen this.
