Thanks for the video! I thought I would chime in to provide some of our family's success and challenges with this diet. Our 19 year-old with t1 has followed a WFPB (whole food plant based) vegan diet for 5 years. He has had a stable 5.4-5.8 a1c for the last many years with amazing time in range (looping during that time helped a lot too). However, he is in his first year at college and had a really difficult time the first month being able to find enough whole plant foods to eat on campus. He had to petition the school (UT Austin) to grant an accommodation just to make sure the cafeteria would provide him with enough WFPB options each day. Amazingly, the school was very responsive and everyday they make sure that they have multiple of his staple foods available (oatmeal, sweet potatoes, rice, legumes, rice, quinoa, fruits, and veggies). So, yes, definitely challenging, but he (and we) continue to learn more on how to have greater success with this diet. Thanks again for all the help you have provided us with here on TH-cam!

Glad to hear that you're continuing to learn! Keep up the great work, and how cool that the school was responsive and accommodating!

Thank you Matt, great info. I agree with you in that we’ve to observe our body reactions not just follow our taste buds. Personally, I won’t follow this diet even though I enjoy 🥭 and nectarines, but bc I developed an allergy to 🍓 and 🥝 … even 🍌 sometimes triggers inflammation, and lettuce, cabbage and broccoli in large qty triggers (a lot of) gastro issues… but that’s just me. Blessings and keep up the fight!
    P.s. how’s pregnancy so far? Hope 👌🙌🏼

Definitely needs to be a good fit for long term, love that. And pregnancy is going well for Lisa, getting close to the due date now!

i think the reason why high carb low fat makes you lose some weight is because insulin is heavily fat anabolic.
meaning less insulin overall, less fat storing going on.

Dude, you really should have stuck with WFPB diet and after a year you would have improved and the range would have evened out. You could have adjusted your food/muscle regimen and the end, you would have been healthier in the long run than 99% of Americans, even when you are 60. Most decent restaurant will accommodate a good diet nowadays.

One size doesn't fit all. For me vegansims , fresh fruits and veg , cooking from scratch,, and after 8 years I was getting more and more hungry . Especially after eating rice. Changed to meat/ animals based diet feel so much better ,eat less often and feeling fuller for longer. I've heard some people going carnivor to control blood glucose. What is your view ?

Personally, I feel that most restrictive diets are a fad and don't offer the full benefits of a diverse diet. I actually just put out a video on our channel on this exact topic. Great question!
