Specially effecting your air conditioning by 10 degrees plus. Good luck!
I just bought a 2005 crew cab 4x4 that went into a ditch at fairly low speed, but hit brush and a small tree. I have to replace the roof panel, windshield hood, grill, headlights driver fender and driver door mirror. 225,000 miles but it was a fleet truck for an excavating company so a lot of highway miles. Been well maintained. Interior is good. No leaks, good belts and runs great. Paid $600. It has the 5 cylinder. I didn't know anything about these trucks so it's good to hear that they are pretty good trucks. A guy I know had one that he bought new and took it in to get a tune up at 200k miles. Been driving a 2010 Colorado 3.7 Liter 5 cyl 4x4 for 4 years and overall it's been a great truck. Now at 135,000 miles Pros: -- Overall it's had no major engine issues. With good tires and cleaned intake, I can get up to 25mpg on the highway. Cons: --interior is garbage. Most handles have broke at least once, and plastics are peeling. --some repairs are very expensive due to dumb engineering. Changing a wheel bearing for example cost me $800 bucks largely because the wheel hub requires you to take everything apart (big labor cost) -- not a ton of torque for city driving and tranny is sometime slow --some electronics and wiring are garbage. I've had to fix speakers, airbag sensors and more.

I have a 2010 lx 4 door 3.7 4x4 about 100,000 miles so far. I like the truck, get about 20 mpg hiway. It's important to keep an eye on the engine oil level, and change every 3,000-5,000 miles in my opinion. Don't rely on the sensor lights to remind you. Definitely check that 3rd brake light seal, I had to use some silicone to seal it up.

At my work (a moderately sized theme park) we use old 2006 Colorados as work trucks and they have very low mileage like 30 thousand but are really beaten up but they still run strong
Yes I'd buy one, and am currently searching for a four door model from the '11 or '12 model year. Have already decided that if I'm lucky enough to find one ... treat it like a '57 and do the restore job on it. I'm looking for a daily driver not a garage queen. It's a cry'in shame that today "No One" is really building anything I want to buy ... and you have to basically go back a half generation to get a vehicle you can actually love. A Colorado like the '11 model, and a '04 Astro I'd love to have two brand new ones sitting in my garage right now ... anyone at GM listening ?
I'm on my 2nd 2010 colorado after Bambi totaled my first one. They both have been excellent trucks! Both were used when I bought them. My wife would rather drive it than her car!
I have 2010 ext cab. I love it. I also had the 07 single cab which I could not stand, thank God someone ran their stop sign and destroyed it 😅 I used the money to get my 2010.
I have a 2004 standard cab Canyon with the 3.5 and auto trans with the Z/71 SLE off road package 4x4 with only 95,000 miles. I ordered it from the factory because early 2004 standard cabs were hard to find optioned he way I wanted. The newer ones (current) look like crap!
I drive a 2011 Canyon 4x4 and it's had many of the common issues you list here. The blower motor was very annoying but not terribly difficult or expensive to replace. You didn't mention the most annoying drawback of these trucks in my opinion, which is the awful passlock failure. At least once a week I am unable to start the vehicle and have to wait 10 minutes for it to clear the passlock error.
When I was ready to replace my battery I wanted an Optima Battery. For those unaware, Optima does not make a group 86 series battery. Being said, the 86 series is 1” skinnier that the 34 series. 34 is a super common battery. If you want to upgrade your battery, I suggest pulling you battery tray out and cutting part of the angled siding on the inside. It just acts as structural support. I used a Dremel tool to make the clearance. If you end up getting the larger battery, and want an Optima; you will need additional work to be done. The optima is a group 34/78 DT (double terminal) meaning it is also a 78 series battery. The difference between the two is the 34 is top post, the 78 is side post. For some reason they made the side terminals pushed the the center more, and this lines perfectly up with a bracket that connects to a strap to hold your battery down. This being metal- we have an issue. I ended up cutting 2 corners of a circle that way I don’t fry my battery by having the front side terminals both touch a metal bracket. A little unsightly, but you can always make the cut cleaner and look better. Overall if you want a bigger battery, 34 is my suggestion. Much stronger, more common, and waste less space.
I own a 2011 Reg cab LT 2.9L, 5 speed 4x4. Mine has 25,500 miles on it. I would have 19022 on it had two getto boys not stolen my car making me drive my Colorado instead. I am worried about future work on : Alternator and Starter. I heard that they are hard to remove. Is your truck from the South or Rust belt?
I have a 07 canyon 3thrd brake light leaked. Tail gate and glove box latch broke it goes in to anti theft mode have to wait 5 min to start. Other than that it's been good 105 ooo miles.
Mine done that anti theft cut off done that to me ,, look up the truck problem and cutting the white wire with blue stripe I followed his instructions never had that problem again
I'll be looking for a reg. cab model to swap the 5.3 engine from my Envoy XL into. They never put the V8s in the reg cabs, and the colorado 5.3s were neutered with 'torque-management' software and fuel efficient axle-ratio. The result was a slower truck than what this legendary LS V8 was capable of. My 1500lb heavier Envoy XL also did 0-60 in 6.7sec (when stock), lighter Colorado should be quicker than that. I want reg cab to be as light as possible, and swap my 5.3, 4L60e transmission, AND 4.10axle ratio into a reg. cab for a great sport truck that's capable of some work. Preferably in that yellow and with the 'Extreme' appearance pkg. Likely won't get that lucky, so I'd settle for any reg. cab that's not all rusted out like my Envoy frame. Wonder if I can swap that 2.8 4banger into my Hyundai Accent?😁
I just had that code it turned into the valve in number 4 breaking free and falling onto the piston so beware if it ever misfires. Also this engine cost 4500 through jasper engines good luck trying to find one elsewhere
I have a crew cab 07 clean condition with 160xxx miles lowerd on Denali 20 in rims with nitto tires also have monitors in it has a spacer and intake whistles like a turbo without flooring it line x bed and tinted all around super clean only issue I have is electrical dooor switch flicker for the first 10 min of driving idk what it could be
There is an identical twin to the yellow colorado on the thumbnail right near me at a dealer I keep staring at. I'm not even a yellow fan but I want it
Yes and no. If you can get your hands on a 4J diesel, you'll need the transmission and ECU. You'll need a custom driveshaft, and you'll have to weld new engine and transmission mounts. The GMT-355 is different from the international D-MAX frame. It's "based on," not a replica.
I have a 2008 gmc canyon SLE 5 speed 2wd black truck black interior, came with a 2.9 4cyl, swapped a 2008 5.3 LS Into it and it it the best truck ever! Still 5 speed. too much fun and turns heads in my town!
Yep, I agree with that one, way to many cheap plastic parts that breaks easily and the electronics going out and mailfunctioning can be a pain in the ass too. I haven't had many other issues besides the throttle body being clogged. Also, the security system is really shitty, it will lock you out from starting the vehicle at times.
The 4x4 version of these trucks had the worst Front Brake Design ever- TOTAL NIGHTMARE! To remove the rotors they actually come off backwards, you have to remove several components.... look it up its absurd
It's annoying to fish out the abs sensor with the rotor, but it's not a big deal. Being attached to the hub does come with better stability though. There are certainly some awkward repairs though such as the starter location.

Copart has wrecked ones for cheap!
The truck honestly has easy jobs besides the transmission leaks, even then it just takes some elbow grease and a few days. Without the proper lift
Do you have any info on 2015 Colorados ?
The complaints on the interior is exactly why i like my 09. Feels like driving a 99
I have a crew cab 07 clean condition with 160xxx miles lowerd on Denali 20 in rims with nitto tires also have monitors in it has a spacer and intake whistles like a turbo without flooring it line x bed and tinted all around super clean only issue I have is electrical dooor switch flicker for the first 10 min of driving idk what it could be
There is an identical twin to the yellow colorado on the thumbnail right near me at a dealer I keep staring at. I'm not even a yellow fan but I want it
So does the 2007 3.7L i5 a better option than the 3.5L i5 that had the valve seats issues? Or does it also have that same issue?
I have a rwd stick shift single cab 4 cylinder. I want to do a LS swap but thats a bit pricey
So are all after market parts and accessories interchangeable?
I've got p0171 and p0466. gonna hopefully fix the p0171 soon if I can find the cause.
Great job
I have an '04 Canyon 3.5L it with a bit of a jittery idle. Is that the actuator valve?
Valve is a possibility, but a dirty throttle body and/or MAF is the more likely culprit.
Can we swap this engine with the engine of the isuzu d-max?is it the same platform?
Is it a yes or a no ?
Yes and no. If you can get your hands on a 4J diesel, you'll need the transmission and ECU. You'll need a custom driveshaft, and you'll have to weld new engine and transmission mounts.
The GMT-355 is different from the international D-MAX frame. It's "based on," not a replica.
mine has 5 cyl.
Good video
What kind truck is that one at 2:39 mark yellow truck?
That’s a Colorado Xtreme
Where can I buy parts for my colorado
Amazon prime. There are many many parts for your Colorado and mine.
Gmc holds it's value
I never had a door handle to break if my grandbaby ain't broke it yet she snatched it on it I ain't never had none of them problems I got $250,000
I wouldn't trade my isuzu i290 for the world...
Man I can’t Find a 5 speed with black interior anywhere. I want one so bad. There’s one in Ohio but that means rust 🤦🏻♂️
I have a 2008 gmc canyon SLE 5 speed 2wd black truck black interior, came with a 2.9 4cyl, swapped a 2008 5.3 LS Into it and it it the best truck ever! Still 5 speed. too much fun and turns heads in my town!
@@liaml7199 wanna sell it? Lol
No
Next question.
They made these trucks too cheaply
you obviously don't own one then, they are great
@@j0sh368 I have a 96 Chevy S10 though
4.3 v6
I have an 09 5.3 crew cab and it’s made cheap asf it’s a solid truck though but they cheaped out on everything
@@j0sh368 I own one and I do not think so.
Debbie downer here has owned two Colorados over the last 10 years. Google passlock or pass key issues. this will drive you insane.
The 4x4 version of these trucks had the worst Front Brake Design ever- TOTAL NIGHTMARE!
To remove the rotors they actually come off backwards, you have to remove several components.... look it up its absurd
Hi, I own several Isuzus. The design is very rugged. I've been on nasty terrain in the 2WD model and had no problems bringing the truck to a stop.
It's annoying to fish out the abs sensor with the rotor, but it's not a big deal. Being attached to the hub does come with better stability though. There are certainly some awkward repairs though such as the starter location.
A Canyon maybe, but a Colorado No way. The 3.7 I5 Canyon and the 5.3 V8 special edition Canyon are supposedly the only 2 reliable engines.
I have 12 canyon. These trucks are junk
You must have an automatic.
@@der_pinguin44 I got a 5.3 Colorado that I'm bout to do a manual swap on soon ..eliminating every issue with these trucks 👌👌
Don’t buy a 3.7 engines totally suck!
Definitely not
