I'm defiantly not a Chevy (or GM for that matter) fan but I did purchase an '05 Chevy Colorado Z71 with the five-cylinder engine back in 2019 as a beater hunting and fishing truck shortly after we moved back home to South Carolina. I won't tell you what my average MPG is with the Colorado as I've been called five kinds of a liar when I mentioned it on other folks' videos here on TH-cam. Let us just say I thought the gas gauge was broken until I used two different apps to prove to my satisfaction that the gauge was indeed working properly. I keep the oil changed; tires properly inflated and rotated, and don't drive it like I stole the damn thing. Is it perfect? Not even close. I would probably have to shell out a couple of thousand dollars, if not more, to fix all the things that need fixing, that from your video work nicely on your pickup. My truck has a few thousand more miles on it than yours does, but it continues to serve me well for what I need it to do as a "beater" daily driver here in our rather rural area.

Had an 06 Colorado manual and it was a great little truck. That aisin transmission is literally bulletproof but beware of the valve seats. The valve seats had a tendency to take a shit in the 4 and 5 cylinder engines gm put in those trucks

$2000 for anything inspected is good these days. For a manual 4WD truck that's amazing. This is the kind of truck I like. Simple, stick shift, and cheap hahaha. Only thing that would make it cooler to me is the 5 cylinder. Good buy! Doesn't sound bad for a 4 banger either. Maybe the long exhaust helps.

I always liked those GMT355 trucks, specially those facelifted 2009-2012 models with more amenities, safety equipment, fancier wheels and upgraded engines.
A few years ago I almost got a 2007 Canyon Z71 CC with 55K miles. That was the first MY of the 2.9 and the 3.7 like the truck I drove. It felt torquey and liked the 4WD and locking diff very much but ended up walking away because it had a rebuilt title and after looking at the Carfax I found it had rolled on its right side. Nothing wrong with the rebuilt title as I've owned a handful of vehicles that way but I wouldn't feel safe on something with a potential frame damage.
PS. Those 4 cyl manual 4x4 Colorados are thin on ice in California. Most I see are 2WD reg cab work trucks so I'd say it was a nice score

    • @WoodLox
      @WoodLox 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

355’s are coveted in this house. Own a few new and a PPV Caprice that is also a gem in its own right but nothing like an Atlas engine. After a few of my videos you would understand. Dropped or lifted ❤️355. First documented 4l60 to AR5 swap. These 5 cylinders will make history.

Careful with loads with the Colorado. I have a 2007 Isuzu i290 I bought new (same exact truck) that now has 145,000 miles. I use it for inter-city delivery of bulk newspaper. I’ve done 2 clutches in it so far. The engine is great, though, and gets great mileage for commercial use.

I like those 2.9L engines, it was one of the first assembly lines I worked at GM. We built the 2.9 and the 3.7 on the same line since the 3.7 just adds a cylinder.

Only 500 miles in 2 and a half weeks? I have drive about 400 a week. Interior is definitely in good shape for such high miles and over 20 mpg in a truck is really good. I always had a soft spot for Colorados/Canyons (I’m not a GM Guy). What a steal! It’s been awhile since I’ve commented on one your vids. I’m an OG Sub, been here since 2019!

I bought a 2008 Colorado 3.7L LT for $2000.00. It has 142000 miles and had a rusted frame, needed new sway bars links, fuel pump assembly, front shocks, spark plugs, thermostat and rear drum brake pads. Fixed it all and now runs like a champ and worth all the work. And it even gets 20mpg combined. For the check engine light, check where the fuel pump assembly is connected on top of the fuel tank. Mine was completely rusted out on top.

My 06 Colorado 4-Cylinder only gets avg. 17MPG. Best I got was like 22 highway and 18 city, but for a 4 cylinder I thought 17 was quite bad. I thought maybe I was hard on it driving (I’m an amateur race driver and mechanic so I drive smoothly, yet quickly on the pedals like I’m running late all the time) and getting mad mileage that way, but in any other car I drive I can get traditionally good gas mileage, so I know that my driving style probably isn’t hurting that efficiency enough to cause it to be that bad. Especially since I only drive to work and home on a 45mph road. Hopefully you have better luck.

Your 2006 is a 2.8 like the 2.8 v6 it’s meant to save. Make sure your throttle body is good and hopefully you have no blow by. Now if you have the GU6 (3:42) it’s best but not fit towing. The GT4 (3:73) is best for both cruise and tow. The GT5 (4:10) are a rare sight and will gulp fuel. I’ve tuned 2.8/2.9 with great efficiency but get better results on a 5 cylinder.

I had the 5 cyl version, it was junk, engine shakes badly, it loses power when you rolled down the windows or turn the radio on, the a/c barely worked. Very disappointed for a vehicle with just 60k miles. Have also had problems with it starting - sometimes it does, sometimes it does not, yes also transmission issues 💩.

I have a 2005 Colorado. Not particularly well built, but solid drivetrain. I also have the I4 and agree it is super gutless. I had the same idea as you when I got it, hoping for good mileage, but it's not really that great. I get about 19 city and 21 highway.

Hi, in a respectful paranormal analysis, I caught EVP spirit audio from your new truck's radio, seems to perhaps also derive partly from your unconscious, listen at 0.25x video speed:
6:21 'Ulrik The Völve' / 'Du siger, at der er magic allevegne, men der er ikke noget her' ('You say that there's magic everywhere but there's nothing here'), lol, a contradiction in itself. Then listening closer, I also hear:
6:21 'These people er en star gate, for al den energi skaber sin egen dimension' ('These people are a stargate, because all that energy creates its own dimension').
6:22 'Xanadu', 'Olivia Newton-John er gået bort, men det gør ingen forskel' ('Olivia Newton-John has passed away, but that makes no difference'), 6:25 'For folk elsker stadig hendes dejlige musik' ('Because people still love her lovely music').
Reference: 'Magic' is a song recorded by Australian singer Olivia Newton-John for the soundtrack to the 1980 film Xanadu. Written and produced by John Farrar, it was released as the lead single from the soundtrack on 23 May 1980. The single was number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks beginning on 2 August 1980'. In fact I lived in Upstate New York from '79-'80 as a Foreign Exchance Student, enjoyed it a lot, the stay taught me how to speak American English well, had good friends and a nice host family. Working class people. Anyway, on to the EVP:
6:23 'Når de gamle nordiske Guder snakker..' ('When the ancient Norse Gods speak..'), 6:27 'Så skal man høre efter' ('You have to pay attention and listen'), 'Money is not everything'.
6:24 'Når en nonne og en sømand møder hinanden, så sker der ting og sager' ('When a nun and a sailor meet, stuff happens').
6:25 'Danmark drabssigter de Saudier' ('Denmark charges the Saudis with 'murder'), 6:26 'Let's get even', 6:27 'Ulrik har ret, forfærdeligt land' ('Ulrik is right, terrible country'), 6:28 'Indkomsten er under pres, det skyldes netop deres oliepolitik' ('The income is under pressure, that's exactly due to their oil policy'), 6:31 'Oliepolitiet' ('The oil police'), 6:29 'Er-der-løn?' ('Is there a paycheck?'), 6:30 'Cochons' ('Pigs'), 6:31 'Ja, hvordan Fanden skal vi ellers sige det?' ('Yes, how the Hell else are we're going to say it?').
Good to see you using the four cylinder, for the exact reason, mentioned by spirit in the EVP. We shouldn't really support the Saudis with their Royals living the grotesque luxury lifestyle sporting superyachts, London mansions and having huge bank accounts, without actually doing any work, other than having oil facilities. Their extreme lifestyle, built on polluting our global environment and causing climate changes, forest fires, droughts and so forth.
But we still have to, at this point in history, it seems - as the hypocrites we are! It's a long discussion:
The Saudis were the ones, allegedly, who were behind nine eleven - that's just horrible to contemplate. And to see how they murder their own journalists if they even mention the controversies in their system of 'government', expose the terrible Wahabi Islamic or Islamist suppression of women. Not to talk about how they conduct local wars with thousands of dead children as 'collateral damage', like Putin also does. They have this cynicism in common with Rasputin, as spirit calls him, the rich, sleazy and threatening Arabs.
So the sooner we can get away from the dependency on Russian gas and Saudi Arabian oil, the better. That goes for Europe, where I live, as well as for the US and Canada. The Aussies have their coal.. sadly (huge fires there every year too).
Earth is getting too hot. So we got to go the EV route, the wind turbine and solar panel path - but we can't, we can't afford to. Personally, I have scrapped my old car and now take the bus, or a cab, but I'm retired.
Young and younger rural people all over the globe need individual transportation, of course. You need your trucks and cars, I did too, in my youth, and so, we get used vehicles. And I respect your skills and common sense (and your ability to make ends meet, financially) by using trucks and cars at the relative end of their life span. That's the best thing to do, really, for those who cant affor a Tesla or the like. To keep the older four wheels running as long as possible. It's spiritually sound to re-use the 'things of the ancestors', or previous owners.. : )
You do it well, keep the old machines running for as long as it's physically possible (because for every new vehicle produced, the CO2 footprint stomps our atmosphere, and cause more global warming).Keep doing what you do well.
    Thank you
The Völve, Asatru shaman of Denmark and the Lands of the North (this includes Vermont : )
