This video made me go right to the throttle body when I just got my used 2006 Canyon 3.5 liter and holy moly it was super dirty. Cleaned it and still had rough idle after doing the relearn process, especially at idle and with the ac on. Turned out the plugs were also really bad. Hope this helps someone save some $$$. Plugs are cheap, and I thought I had a bad electric throttle body. Never hurts to check/change plugs.

My 2006 Canyon has been mostly good. I think in 2015 it needed a new head. They said the warranty wouldn't cover because of no oil changes. We beat them on that. You do not need receipts to prove you change the oil. The engine was too clean on the inside.
Also, since 2017, it's had a part time problem with not starting. I've tried different suggestions on fixing it. Have changed the Crank-shaft sensor, the Engine Temperature sensor and the Thermostat. It usually starts better in the Winter. Now I need to change its Water Pump. Old age creeping in! 🙂

I have a 2005 and it had the P0506 error. Pulled the MAF sensor and the TB unit off, cleaned them with their associated cleaners available at auto parts store. That fixed it.
That part near the gas tank, sure does look like that truck on this video has a lot of flaky rust on a metal piece there. My vehicle seems to not have this, luckily, so far. Is that truck from an area where there is a lot of snow, or ocean? I ask, mine is from the Gulf Coast, near the ocean, but I don't see that flaky rust (not yet) on it.
I do have a question about the associated solenoids for timing the exhaust, you mentioned when talking about the timing chain. Would those make a ticking sound when they start going bad? My truck doesn't always do that, but I was trying to figure out if it is that or if it is the serpentine belt tensioner going bad and making that sound.
Please, keep up with great videos, I greatly appreciate them. Thank you.

Hey guys.. I’d really appreciate the help if you can offer any. I have an ‘08 Colorado that has an inline fuse for the power seats (at least according to the wiring diagram.) and I can’t find it anywhere. Any idea where it may be?
The fuse in the actual under hood fuse box is fine. I just need to try and find that other fuse. Both my power seats stopped working and I think it’s very unlikely both motors burned out at the same time.
    Thanks in advance!

One problem that I fixed on my 09 Chevy Colorado, was the passlock II. Stopped using the keyless remote.
Another problem that I fixed was the blower motor resistor. On the fan speed on the climate control system, I turned the knob to #3 of the fan speed and it didn't work.
1,2 & 4 works. I replaced the wiring harness with the resistor. It's working. Another problem is a leak on the driver's side floor board.

    *knock on wood*
I currently have 208k on my 2012 Canyon; only issue I have is blower motor related. Originally it wouldn’t turn on, but if I was still hit a bump, it’d turn on. Soon found out if I hit the blower motor it would start working. Took it to the shop and apparently there was a tube that was full of gunk and this was causing water to build up in the blower motor. Over time this caused the motor to rust and when ever it would try to start the motor, it wouldn’t have enough power to start spinning, but if you hit it, it’s break it free/ move it a little and it would start up.
Now my current issue is the blower motor will suddenly turn off, then turn back on. I’ll be idling and doing nothing and it’ll stop, then it’ll kick back on randomly.
I’m taking it to the shop to get it checked again. I have a feeling it’s something to do with a loose wire because it only became an issue when it go super hot out (causing wires to potentially droop) and therefore lose connection.
Again *knock on wood* I haven’t had any serious issues. Most expensive fix was brakes. I would do them myself but it pretty much requires you to replace the hubs and since it’s already being taken out… might as well get that done. Luckily I came to a good deal with my manager.
Only other issue I have is the fact that from 04-12 they didn’t change anything, and I have a 2012 but it has 2004 technology. It doesn’t even have an aux port. Along with that the center console is plastic and sits kind of loose; this causes it to squeak a lot if you touch it/ put pressure on it.

I'll repeat from JeffS below: The ext cab rear door wires for the seat belt retractors break over time due to too much flex when the rear door opens and closes - if your SRS light is on, that's probably the problem. The plastic quick connect fittings on the heater core outlets break off, luckily close to home, but wtf Isuzu? The worst was a heater core leak, but that was probably a fluke - cost me $66 and several hours, otherwise an $800 service.

If the HVAC is an Auto Dual Zone then it will be a module, not a resistor. The high speed fan setting gets a direct connection to the fuse block, always hot, but the fan motor on these makes the circuit with the ground switched. So to check the fan, find the wire with 12 volts, forgot which color, and ground it. If fan comes on full speed you know the fan motor is good. That’s also why some people (like me in my Burban) have problems with the fan staying on after truck is off. Mine would take a full five minutes to shut off, slowing very gradually until off. Strange, it seems the module goes bad and the ground disconnects slllloooooowwwly. Whatever. Also like he said some speeds might work and others not, usually with the resistor manual HVAC setup. Generally low and high work of any at all. Easy cheap switch though, get the updated version though. Point is, manual systems use resistor, auto systems use a module. The fuel tank vent purge solenoid/valve can often be cleaned out pretty easily and put back. Funny how most of these problems run across the GM platforms form full-size to the midsize trucks. Also check every single ground strap you can find on the vehicle and they are all over the place. Two of mine under drivers floor and behind/under drivers headlight were barely connected. Each ground is important and can fix crazy intermittent electrical gremlins pretty easily. Remove, repair, clean, preserve, replace. Little to no cost, just elbow grease, or sandpaper dust. Also never run your own ground wire from the battery to anywhere. That changes the load on the main battery hot cable, which you’ll notice runs through a red fixture which kinda look like a clamp of sorts. It’s the inductive device used for the computer to sense the load in the electrical system, telling the alternator how much charge to produce, all in the interest of saving every single mpg it can, with less alternator drag when extra load isn’t needed. Any deviation can cause the computer to tell the rig to do weird things. Hence the odd instrument cluster messages, when you otherwise know that system is good. I got TPMS warnings all the time when they worked fine. Also rear windshield wiper would sporadically turn on, most often with a left blinker or reverse. Hmmm. Going around and cleaning all the grounds fixed lots of little gremlins. I cleaned and repaired or even improved at least six, and haven’t even gone to the back of the truck yet. Wonder if that would help the EVAP stuff? Hmmmmm

Hi, I had the same problem with my 06'. It just tries to start and then floods out. What i have found to do is just turn the key half way for a few extra seconds and the fuel pump has time to get the fuel to the engine. What i have read on forums is that it is a sign of a weak fuel pump with is located above the fuel tank. It's a $500 labor job and that doesn't include the pump. I'm just baby'n mine and it's been over a year. It's too old to really stick any money into it.

Oh gosh, where do I start? I have a 2005 Canyon that I call “My Monday morning truck” because the workers had one hell of a bender all weekend and came to work hungover Monday morning, threw my truck together and sent it off the assembly line. CD player stopped working, headlamp switch works when it wants, anti-theft module frequently left me stranded, every now and then the MPH/RPM gages drop to zero and all the idiot lights come on (while at speed on the highway) and the clear coat literally disintegrated within 5 years. P.O.S.!

Roughly what mileage would be a recommended time to change the timing chain?

I would add that these have the dumbest front rotor design ever - you have to remove the hub to replace the rotors - be sure to use anti-seize on the new hubs (you'll likely destroy the old hubs removing them) and also don't screw up your wheel sensors....I also have the evap code - that piece of plastic crap failed after a few years and I just ignore it.
