Its a line that souly appeals to omnimans emotions. Because if he was still going on about his militaristic indoctrination, he'd go "yes so you're going to join me in this empire." Instead the line made him feel, and realise how badly he'd fucked up.
I like how they added more to that line with the prior regrets from nolan as he beats up his child. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the baseball flashback was in the comic, and I really like how Nolan knocking out mark’s teeth reminds him of that moment.
thats the strong point of this masterpiece. I was obssesed wioth the main plot and binged it until i knew why omniman did what he did, but i still enjoyed the fuck out of the other plots and waited till they come in later on (i didnt know there would be more season at the time). Every character is amazing. I miss robot robot tho
@@averagesionenjoyer8948 yeah, just finished the first season today, and I was surprised by how great every single character is (except Rex, although I think knowing more about how he came to know and care for Eve would fix that if that’ll happen eventually, but he’s a douchebag for now.) My personal favorites were Cecil and Rudy/Robot, so I especially enjoyed Rudy/Robot’s side plot throughout the second half.

However, in the show it’s slightly hinted that Eve had good reasons for dating him based on what her parents say, and he hints to having a bad childhood, so I’m sure there’s lore that I don’t know that justifies his shitty behavior. About Amber, I thought she was great till she revealed she knew Mark was Invincible for a while. I think a trust issue like that wasn’t deserving of a breakup, especially when the reasons for it are as morally good as his. It should’ve just been a lengthy conversation that they both benefited from and nothing more. I definitely like Eve more regardless.

Yeah, though I do hope Mark does get in some good wins next season considering he is still supposed to be incredibly strong. He does essentially stomp most side villains though.
bruh the Mauler Twins were one of my favorite parts of the show aside from the main plot I was genuinely looking forward to what they were up to and have several moments throughout that made me really like them
i adored the mauler twins bc we see them first as basic strong villain for the league to beat up but they get a back story and I was rooting for them when fighting robot. Legit like the twins story and background more then robot
@@jetpackzombie6135 Their way of CO-OP fighting was really cool, but the best way robot made me like them here more was how much they emphasized with him during and after the cloning process. It was cool and sad as hell when they explained to him the advantage of being twin clones, and then one of them shed a tear for the old robot as he reassures his new self before he dies.
My favourite thing about Invincible is when you start to realize that Omni-Man IS NOT the Superman stand-in, but Mark is, in fact, the Superman character
I feel like they wanted to surprise the audience by saying that “amber knew all along” but that just makes a lot of her previous decisions and emotions not make any sense.
I feel like the implication might have been that she figured it out during her skulking after the first cyborg fight, but if so it really wasn't communicated super well. Also, and maybe this is in the comic, but there doesn't really seem to be a good reason why all the super heroes have secret identities anyway.

I loved that when Invincible was beat up at the last episode, Mark actually sounds like his mouth is swollen, broken, and undignified. I was sold on his helplessness.
His expressions and voice acting is absolutely 100 spot on. I know that people would cry just after hearing his voice screaming whyd you do this after the train scene and im in this group of people
Lex Luthor is typically less worried about Superman as a physical threat to humanity, and more worried about humanity becoming dependent on Superman and ceasing to grow or achieve anything because Superman will always be there to clean up the mess. yup i liked them too, i loved the constant bickering of who's the original, and Robot is kind of a fascinating character in my opinion...BUT DEFINITELY SUPER CREEPY

I really liked that whole subplot too. I think it's going to have a big payoff in future episodes, but overall it was a nice break from the "Dear God how do we stop Omniman" main plot. The setup with Robot taking Rex's blood & then releasing the Mauler Twins was intriguing and helped cement Robot as an actual person rather than just "the smart guy"

I was making fun of this with my friend but looking back the fact that Mark really just gets his ass handed to him every fight and never really saves anyone is actually kind of a nice touch. Like if he had this triumph moment when fighting Omni man that wouldn't have felt very earned, Mark still has a lot to learn and I can't wait to watch him start to win some fights
Yeah, the comic is a little different; we get more of the in-between times where he's successfully dealing with villains of the week and that kind of thing. But the show generally is only showing us his most important days, which tend to be when he gets worked on the worst.
In ep 5 when he gets the shit beat out of him I was genuinely surprised because in other shows they always have the hero win or retreat before getting badly injured so I thought it was new and refreshing that he lost big time in almost every fight
exactly. Mark's power is capable of being as high as omni-man. That's why the ending here is genius and overall all the exposition and thought put into every single detail and frame is HUGE. Like... we have so many possibilities of where and how can Mark grow from this moemnt and from what ive seen the comics are like... very long and theres much much more material to make and animation from. Im afraid that invinsible is gonnna be GOT 2 and after they use all the source material theyll make so crap seasons for the money. Also omniman killing the justice leauge is the highlight of the series for me and i dont know how the show can go from there if we get past the killing guardians motive in later seasons cus i assume the main plot is gonna change someday
I was really pissed when I saw that at first… Then I realized that it’s the friggin first season out of a possible 7-season series, and what they did was table-setting. Fantastic table-setting, showing the baddies Mark will prolly fight throughout the series, and showing his flaws. It would totally make sense for Mark to win more fights later.

I love how the brutality isn’t just in the action, but also the dialogue. Like when Omni Man refers to wife as “more of a pet” that hit harder then action for me. I also appreciated how the violence is kind of layered, I really like how Red Rush makes that speech to his partner about how long each second feels to him, and then realise how much agony he must of been in whilst getting his head squashed *chefs kiss*
I also liked that villains were not disposable , they were recurring characters and everyone fell in love with blue clone brothers . I think this deserves more attention .
Yes! I really appreciate that they did that. Usually in superhero stories random villains show up and die just to show off the heroes’ powers. But here almost every one of them mattered

Amber is not very selfish, at least not more than someone has to be. She wants a specific thing from a relationship that she cannot get from Mark: someone reliable that is actually there when she needs him to be. The only thing she did wrong was keep giving him chances instead of realizing its useless because he is who he is. The same for Mark, Mark knows Amber was hurting because of his lifestyle but still felt entitled to the relationship that was clearly hurting both of them. The relationship, from both sides, would leave them unhappy in the end. I don't see why its either ones fault tho. You _are_ entitled to a happy relationship, just like both of them are. TL;DR: It is clear they weren't made for each other and it wasn't any of their fault. No one was "selfish".

The "Amber knew all along" reveal execution kinda makes the Far From Home "MJ knew all along" reveal way better with MJ just blurting out that she was only like 60% sure and it makes sense that she notices Peter disappearing and Spider-man appearing because she's like a fly on the wall type of character. Amber's unreasonable reactions definitely don't make sense unless she's just giving Mark a really hard time and just wants a normal boyfriend or something, but then they sort of become a group that knows Mark's secret so it's really wrinkling my brain.

Probably because the role of his character in the story is so unimportant. I hope they do more with him next season. We had plenty of emotional weight with the relationship of Debbie and Nolan, but they still threw in his bit with Nolan and Arte being friends.

She freaks out at him for coming back as Invincible to save the day from the ReAniman and says he just left, when she knows fully well that he was Invincible and he was the only one who could save their lives. Not just that, but she knows that since he doesn’t know that she knows, HE knows that he’s putting his relationship on the line to save everyone. Which is noble af. Hated her character honestly. And when she comes rushing in with a kiss to reconcile after his fight with his dad, the FIRST thing she mentions is how she was lied to. Like get over it, your high school romance is maybe a little less important than the thousands of people that Marks father killed and made him witness. Your boyfriend literally saved the world and at no small cost, and the first thing you do is remind him of how he lied to you?? Also, OF COURSE he didn’t tell you. You’re his HIGH SCHOOL CRUSH! Yeah you guys might care about each other but he has to keep his identity secret from the entire world including those he cares about. It’s not like he wants to. This show is like a mashup of my favorite superhero elements plus Mortal Kombat fighting. It's got a Spiderman protagonist, a Superman dad, a Nick Fury boss, an Agent Coulson sidekick, a Lucifer detective, and even a Wolverine that shows up when he's not dead

Even though I enjoy WandaVision and Falcon and Winter Soldier a lot, I gotta say that it was great to see a finale episode that wasnt a let down. Even the big fight that took up most of the episode was unique in that Mark barely fought back the whole time and only won using words in a heartfelt moment

Maybe a fighr scene with a little creativity. That being said, both finales for Marvels Disney+ shows have been able to work in some good emotional moments in their finale but there are also some letdowns and I want it to be on par with the rest of the season in its creativity and complexity

It is truly a great show. I have to disagree with you on the animation though. I feel like the show has absolute top tier animation about 85% of the time. The fights are so fluid and well animated!
the plot line about amber being mad at mark for not telling her the truth sooner is a mirror of his father not telling his family the truth leading to such a violent conclusion with mark in the final episode. and i felt like the cloning subplot was interesting and ended up culminating in a way that reflects the themes the story is going for
I think you're reading into too much. And if that's what they were trying to go for then it's ruined by amber getting back with mark at the final episode because he got his ass beat.
I would say the Boys was written incredibly cynically. Whereas Invincible is satirical, but like all good satire it's made by someone who genuinely loves the source material. Who wants to poke fun at the wackier aspects while making something great.
I love both the characters (robot and twins), I just feel like the payoff was a little weird. They addressed robot being Rudy for like a couple minutes before they kinda said alright on to the main plot, c’mon there’s only 20 minutes left in the episode lol but I’m sure they’ll expand on it season 2
The twins are really fun to watch. Being made a bunch of times and the fact that they are geniuses is pretty funny and unexpected to me. Their banter between themselves and robot is funny. The twist that robot is actually human is unexpected (remember, reading the comic before watching can make the show less interesting) and seeing how sweet he is to beast girl is really nice. I like how he shows his humanity a lot, something he could have always done, but never needed to.
my favourite was when he's leaning over mark (I think it was when he was saying 'think mark think!'), The angle and his posture with his well done facial animations was just really done.
I've been keeping up with the comic ever since I was a kid in high school, and I swear, nothing makes me happier than seeing one of my favorite TH-camrs and fellow fans getting into it now after all these years. It's awesome.
2 things 1. I figured marks girlfriend realized mark was invincible *because* of the incident where she thought he ran off, because it was so incredulous. She also seemed to understand it was Invincible specifically. 2. Her disinterest in his reveal, and unwavering commitment to her point (that Mark has been treating her as disposable and stringing her along when he clearly isn't able to dedicate care for her) was pretty refreshing to me.
I agree with you. The gist of what she was talking and feeling about were there, but it wasn’t clearly executed in the episode itself to justify her going off on him at the campus. And with the last episode of her coming back willing to start again if he wanted to seemed off to me because none of the issues she cited to break up with him was resolved on that end. I can’t really see their relationship lasting next season because nothing’s really changed there beyond dad leaving the scene and Mark barely surviving that.

Nothing has changed in terms of Mark being busy superhero-ing. Her giving him "the benefit of the doubt" only after an extremely traumatic experience comes off as disingenuous at best, and prompted purely for pity at worst.

I think the animation will get a lot better just like how the comics did it’s unbelievable if you look at the first page of the comic and the first page of the second compendium you can already see the insane difference
The only thing i think about is Amber is a 17 - 18 year old girl, shes supposed to be all over the place and not know what she wants or how to handle what's going on. its hard to justify being angry at a child for being a child, and yes as a teenager you are still a child
This is why I prefer Mark with Eve or even William. I know he's straight in the comic but I think those two can make a better couple than Mark and Amber. Also, why did they need to change Amber's skin color in this show?
@soundwave86 I like how that can apply to both sides of that relationship, with Amber not telling Mark that she knew his secret, and Mark not telling Amber his secret.
For as janky as the animation can be at times, it still feels like they mostly balanced it pretty well. I felt that, with a few exceptions, most of the scenes that called for great animation hit the mark. And in a lot of the places where they cut corners, they made up for it with really great dynamic angles, poses and perspective.
For amber to get mad at mark I feel like she was mad at mark for not trusting her but didn’t want to tell everyone so she directed the anger to him leaving

The way the shows explains it wasn't great but I actually think her actions make a lot of sense from her point of view. They just didn't show her point of view because the show is about Mark. Plus even Eve says he screwed around for too long.
This was the most comic book thing I've ever seen outside of a comic. Most of the high school drama stuff is hard to watch but everything else is top notch.
Funny you mention Guyver, since there is also a similar looking hero to him called Tech Jacket, whobwas a recurring character in big battles in the comics.
After watching the show, I realized that at no point does it actually subvert any superhero tropes, it literally just does them, but makes them interesting because of the high stakes. He literally does have to balance his teenager life and his superhero life, it makes it interesting cause of the dread of the future and of self-worth that comes with it. Superman becomes evil has been done so many times, but here its played completely straight and the carnage he brings makes it terrifying and real. I thought this would be a parody of the superhero genre, but its literally just a superhero show that isn't afraid to deal with darker themes. While the Boys was 100% a subversion of superheroes with characters literally being parodies of real superheros and the concept of superheros existing being analyzed, Invincible is just a good as hell superhero show for adults and I think people's love for it comes from its ability to rekindle our enjoyment of superheros being superheros thats kind of grown stale from the MCU. If they made the sex talk and violence more pg13 I honestly think it would still have the appeal it does now. Anyways I love this show and think it slaps, not because its subversive but because it does the conventions good as hell.
Yeah, it's subversive in fairly small ways but the story really is just a normal superhero story at the end of the day. Just for grown-ups. It's honestly exactly what I wanted from the genre since I watched the X-Men animated series in the 90s lol

In the last episode I felt JK Simmons went full JJJ when he was screaming at Mark and I lost it comedy gold this series is going to get wayyy better in the next coming seasons can’t wait
this show is a legit 10/10 and i sound like a sucker but legit this was my favorite superhero content since infinity war. it’s unique funny and very compelling.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the animation was inconsistent with how it was animated. Certain sequences, like Nolan vs the Guardians or Nolan vs Mark, stellar and beautiful. Other sequences, like the dead birds falling from the sky after the hammer, you can definitely tell the studio said "Good enough" and moved onto the next thing.
I think it works *better* as a social commentary than The Boys, specifically because it doesn't try to yell its themes in your face. The character arcs do a more effective job of conveying their ideas and emotional themes.

I don’t really know anything about Invincible but my favorite thing about it is that I learned about it exclusively through (silent) memes yet I could somehow tell just from looking at Omni-Man that he had to be played by J. K. Simmons
So many good parts of the show just shined so well. The baseball scene was very heartfelt as it showed Marks childish and happy face to a broken lump of skin . Or the part when Omni Man literally grabbed Marks head and made a train ride through him with mark obliterating each person with his face
Mark's gf is a cartoon original, she replaced mark's gf in the comic who was a blonde. That's probably why it was the one character that was very confusing at times since they changed their personality and background.

I love it, it doesn’t try to be a rebel and aggressively remove all basic superhero patterns like shy teenage guy with teenage problems, it shows them quickly and without filler details, so I never felt bored by it, I also enjoy most characters because their time on screen exactly matches their importance for the plot and we don’t have these boring subplots (there were some, like robot’s and titan’s, though they are carefully put within main plot, so I didn’t felt bored and didn’t feel like the show is trying to make itself longer by putting filler stuff)

thats the strong point of this masterpiece. I was obssesed wioth the main plot and binged it until i knew why omniman did what he did, but i still enjoyed the fuck out of the other plots and waited till they come in later on (i didnt know there would be more season at the time). Every character is amazing. I miss robot robot tho
@@averagesionenjoyer8948 yeah, just finished the first season today, and I was surprised by how great every single character is (except Rex, although I think knowing more about how he came to know and care for Eve would fix that if that’ll happen eventually, but he’s a douchebag for now.) My personal favorites were Cecil and Rudy/Robot, so I especially enjoyed Rudy/Robot’s side plot throughout the second half.

However, in the show it’s slightly hinted that Eve had good reasons for dating him based on what her parents say, and he hints to having a bad childhood, so I’m sure there’s lore that I don’t know that justifies his shitty behavior.
About Amber, I thought she was great till she revealed she knew Mark was Invincible for a while. I think a trust issue like that wasn’t deserving of a breakup, especially when the reasons for it are as morally good as his. It should’ve just been a lengthy conversation that they both benefited from and nothing more. I definitely like Eve more regardless.

It was cool and sad as hell when they explained to him the advantage of being twin clones, and then one of them shed a tear for the old robot as he reassures his new self before he dies.
Yeah I hard disagreed with this guy (as I often do) on that point. Those parts of the show were plenty engaging.

I feel like the implication might have been that she figured it out during her skulking after the first cyborg fight, but if so it really wasn't communicated super well. Also, and maybe this is in the comic, but there doesn't really seem to be a good reason why all the super heroes have secret identities anyway.

I really liked that whole subplot too. I think it's going to have a big payoff in future episodes, but overall it was a nice break from the "Dear God how do we stop Omniman" main plot. The setup with Robot taking Rex's blood & then releasing the Mauler Twins was intriguing and helped cement Robot as an actual person rather than just "the smart guy"
Seeing Red Rush speed punching until his hands were broken into pieces, punching with his broken hands, was incredible. Loved that moment.

I was making fun of this with my friend but looking back the fact that Mark really just gets his ass handed to him every fight and never really saves anyone is actually kind of a nice touch. Like if he had this triumph moment when fighting Omni man that wouldn't have felt very earned, Mark still has a lot to learn and I can't wait to watch him start to win some fights
Yeah, the comic is a little different; we get more of the in-between times where he's successfully dealing with villains of the week and that kind of thing. But the show generally is only showing us his most important days, which tend to be when he gets worked on the worst.
In ep 5 when he gets the shit beat out of him I was genuinely surprised because in other shows they always have the hero win or retreat before getting badly injured so I thought it was new and refreshing that he lost big time in almost every fight
exactly. Mark's power is capable of being as high as omni-man. That's why the ending here is genius and overall all the exposition and thought put into every single detail and frame is HUGE. Like... we have so many possibilities of where and how can Mark grow from this moemnt and from what ive seen the comics are like... very long and theres much much more material to make and animation from. Im afraid that invinsible is gonnna be GOT 2 and after they use all the source material theyll make so crap seasons for the money. Also omniman killing the justice leauge is the highlight of the series for me and i dont know how the show can go from there if we get past the killing guardians motive in later seasons cus i assume the main plot is gonna change someday
I was really pissed when I saw that at first…
Then I realized that it’s the friggin first season out of a possible 7-season series, and what they did was table-setting. Fantastic table-setting, showing the baddies Mark will prolly fight throughout the series, and showing his flaws. It would totally make sense for Mark to win more fights later.

I love how the brutality isn’t just in the action, but also the dialogue. Like when Omni Man refers to wife as “more of a pet” that hit harder then action for me.
I also appreciated how the violence is kind of layered, I really like how Red Rush makes that speech to his partner about how long each second feels to him, and then realise how much agony he must of been in whilst getting his head squashed *chefs kiss*

@Adam Beta I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that way, she may be helping people but she ain't really someone who tries to put herself in Mark's shoes.
Amber is not very selfish, at least not more than someone has to be. She wants a specific thing from a relationship that she cannot get from Mark: someone reliable that is actually there when she needs him to be. The only thing she did wrong was keep giving him chances instead of realizing its useless because he is who he is. The same for Mark, Mark knows Amber was hurting because of his lifestyle but still felt entitled to the relationship that was clearly hurting both of them. The relationship, from both sides, would leave them unhappy in the end. I don't see why its either ones fault tho. You _are_ entitled to a happy relationship, just like both of them are.
TL;DR: It is clear they weren't made for each other and it wasn't any of their fault. No one was "selfish".

The "Amber knew all along" reveal execution kinda makes the Far From Home "MJ knew all along" reveal way better with MJ just blurting out that she was only like 60% sure and it makes sense that she notices Peter disappearing and Spider-man appearing because she's like a fly on the wall type of character. Amber's unreasonable reactions definitely don't make sense unless she's just giving Mark a really hard time and just wants a normal boyfriend or something, but then they sort of become a group that knows Mark's secret so it's really wrinkling my brain.

Even though I enjoy WandaVision and Falcon and Winter Soldier a lot, I gotta say that it was great to see a finale episode that wasnt a let down. Even the big fight that took up most of the episode was unique in that Mark barely fought back the whole time and only won using words in a heartfelt moment
How the hell could seeing Wanda FINALLY turn into the Scarlett Witch after 6 years be a "letdown" is something I gotta hear...
@@KoolKeithProductions Loool sorry, I do think that the finale was great all in all and had some good moments but I just wanted it to be a little more complex than big fight scenes that end the problem. Maybe a fighr scene with a little creativity. That being said, both finales for Marvels Disney+ shows have been able to work in some good emotional moments in their finale but there are also some letdowns and I want it to be on par with the rest of the season in its creativity and complexity

It is truly a great show. I have to disagree with you on the animation though. I feel like the show has absolute top tier animation about 85% of the time. The fights are so fluid and well animated!
Almost literally 85% since that 15% of ass-tier animation was the entirety of episode 4 specifically. That much is forgivable though.

same, it reminded me of Clone Wars except without the fun character proportions.

Honestly my biggest gripe about the animation was the color palette. It just seemed so plain and not personalized
the plot line about amber being mad at mark for not telling her the truth sooner is a mirror of his father not telling his family the truth leading to such a violent conclusion with mark in the final episode. and i felt like the cloning subplot was interesting and ended up culminating in a way that reflects the themes the story is going for

I would say the Boys was written incredibly cynically. Whereas Invincible is satirical, but like all good satire it's made by someone who genuinely loves the source material. Who wants to poke fun at the wackier aspects while making something great.

The twins are really fun to watch. Being made a bunch of times and the fact that they are geniuses is pretty funny and unexpected to me. Their banter between themselves and robot is funny. The twist that robot is actually human is unexpected (remember, reading the comic before watching can make the show less interesting) and seeing how sweet he is to beast girl is really nice. I like how he shows his humanity a lot, something he could have always done, but never needed to.
Atom Eve is a great character, and Nolan got literally different animation on the last episode during the end of the fight.
my favourite was when he's leaning over mark (I think it was when he was saying 'think mark think!'), The angle and his posture with his well done facial animations was just really done.
He begins to look more like his comic book counterpart where his mustache is thicker and his facial expressions make him look like a psychopath

I've been keeping up with the comic ever since I was a kid in high school, and I swear, nothing makes me happier than seeing one of my favorite TH-camrs and fellow fans getting into it now after all these years. It's awesome.
2 things
1. I figured marks girlfriend realized mark was invincible *because* of the incident where she thought he ran off, because it was so incredulous. She also seemed to understand it was Invincible specifically.
2. Her disinterest in his reveal, and unwavering commitment to her point (that Mark has been treating her as disposable and stringing her along when he clearly isn't able to dedicate care for her) was pretty refreshing to me.
I agree with you. The gist of what she was talking and feeling about were there, but it wasn’t clearly executed in the episode itself to justify her going off on him at the campus. And with the last episode of her coming back willing to start again if he wanted to seemed off to me because none of the issues she cited to break up with him was resolved on that end. I can’t really see their relationship lasting next season because nothing’s really changed there beyond dad leaving the scene and Mark barely surviving that.

Being there with Eve and William to provide support and consoling would've been more than enough, without declaring "Now that I know your dad's secretly a genocidal maniac, I'm thinking we should try dating again." Nothing has changed in terms of Mark being busy superhero-ing. Her giving him "the benefit of the doubt" only after an extremely traumatic experience comes off as disingenuous at best, and prompted purely for pity at worst.

For as janky as the animation can be at times, it still feels like they mostly balanced it pretty well. I felt that, with a few exceptions, most of the scenes that called for great animation hit the mark. And in a lot of the places where they cut corners, they made up for it with really great dynamic angles, poses and perspective.
For amber to get mad at mark I feel like she was mad at mark for not trusting her but didn’t want to tell everyone so she directed the anger to him leaving
I mean, she LITERALLY said she was mad about him not trusting her in that episode.

The way the shows explains it wasn't great but I actually think her actions make a lot of sense from her point of view. They just didn't show her point of view because the show is about Mark. Plus even Eve says he screwed around for too long.
This was the most comic book thing I've ever seen outside of a comic. Most of the high school drama stuff is hard to watch but everything else is top notch.
Invincible is like a loose superhero version of Guyver or Fist of the North Star in terms of violence and gore
Funny you mention Guyver, since there is also a similar looking hero to him called Tech Jacket, whobwas a recurring character in big battles in the comics.
After watching the show, I realized that at no point does it actually subvert any superhero tropes, it literally just does them, but makes them interesting because of the high stakes. He literally does have to balance his teenager life and his superhero life, it makes it interesting cause of the dread of the future and of self-worth that comes with it. Superman becomes evil has been done so many times, but here its played completely straight and the carnage he brings makes it terrifying and real. I thought this would be a parody of the superhero genre, but its literally just a superhero show that isn't afraid to deal with darker themes. While the Boys was 100% a subversion of superheroes with characters literally being parodies of real superheros and the concept of superheros existing being analyzed, Invincible is just a good as hell superhero show for adults and I think people's love for it comes from its ability to rekindle our enjoyment of superheros being superheros thats kind of grown stale from the MCU. If they made the sex talk and violence more pg13 I honestly think it would still have the appeal it does now. Anyways I love this show and think it slaps, not because its subversive but because it does the conventions good as hell.
Yeah, it's subversive in fairly small ways but the story really is just a normal superhero story at the end of the day. Just for grown-ups. It's honestly exactly what I wanted from the genre since I watched the X-Men animated series in the 90s lol

This show has filled the down-to-Earth, relatable teen superhero hole in my heart that the MCU Spider-Man movies have left me with.
this show is a legit 10/10 and i sound like a sucker but legit this was my favorite superhero content since infinity war. it’s unique funny and very compelling.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the animation was inconsistent with how it was animated. Certain sequences, like Nolan vs the Guardians or Nolan vs Mark, stellar and beautiful. Other sequences, like the dead birds falling from the sky after the hammer, you can definitely tell the studio said "Good enough" and moved onto the next thing.

I think it works *better* as a social commentary than The Boys, specifically because it doesn't try to yell its themes in your face. The character arcs do a more effective job of conveying their ideas and emotional themes.

I don’t really know anything about Invincible but my favorite thing about it is that I learned about it exclusively through (silent) memes yet I could somehow tell just from looking at Omni-Man that he had to be played by J. K. Simmons
So many good parts of the show just shined so well. The baseball scene was very heartfelt as it showed Marks childish and happy face to a broken lump of skin . Or the part when Omni Man literally grabbed Marks head and made a train ride through him with mark obliterating each person with his face

Mark's gf is a cartoon original, she replaced mark's gf in the comic who was a blonde. That's probably why it was the one character that was very confusing at times since they changed their personality and background.

I love it, it doesn’t try to be a rebel and aggressively remove all basic superhero patterns like shy teenage guy with teenage problems, it shows them quickly and without filler details, so I never felt bored by it, I also enjoy most characters because their time on screen exactly matches their importance for the plot and we don’t have these boring subplots (there were some, like robot’s and titan’s, though they are carefully put within main plot, so I didn’t felt bored and didn’t feel like the show is trying to make itself longer by putting filler stuff)
