He almost killed a henchman, he crash landed when he flew in his wingsuit, and he ran away from police instead of teleporting. Great way to show that this batman is still a rookie
It's weird when Batman punch that guy dozens of times and he doesn't get knocked out. In every other scene Batman punch a guy 1 or 2 times and the guy gets knocked out
In other movies, they to pretend to be knocked out so to incur little damage, unfortunately this Batman refused to accept that, he nearly killed that guy😂😂😂
I was stoked that there was no bat magic teleportation shenanigans in this one. He was always just out of view when using darkness or escaping a situation
I much prefer rookie Batman than the ‘I can solve anything and have a gadget for everything’ Batman, maybe it isn’t as ‘comic book accurate’ but it makes for a way better story
One of the most brilliant acting choices from Battinson to me was how his separation between Bruce and Batman was super-subtle. You notice immediately he's not the tank he is in the suit. He's exposed, insecure, he actually shrinks away from people. People in Gotham would never suspect Bruce Wayne is Batman, not because he's too happy and pretending to be a careless billionaire, but rather because he's so visibly fragile that it seems unimaginable.
Yeah I immediately noticed whenever Bruce isn’t in the suit he slouches and keeps his head down, avoiding eye contact and moving quick. Where as when he is in the suit he is standing tall with good posture, walking slow and looking everyone in the eye
Pattinson himself said that Bruce subconciously believes that the suit gives him his powers, and he's uncomfortable not being in it, which is such an interesting look at what Batman means to Bruce.
Battinson is the perfect iteration of the character Batman so far.And in the very little screen time he got,Bruce was portrayed beautifully too.I can see this trilogy easily beating every single one of them out there so far
Also a very subtle thing was how his make up is just visible enough to see when he attends the Mayor's memorial, you can see very faintly some of the black eyeliner is still there.
There’s an interview with Robert Pattinson where he talks about his inspiration for this role and he brings up a comic I had never heard about and talks about it with such reverence and passion that it’s very clear he’s a huge fan of the character and the comics. I’m so glad he’s having a renaissance of his own after how much shit he got for Twilight, he’s a fantastic actor.
Yeah. Seeing him in Tenet and now Batman really show cases how good of an actor he really is. Twilight was just shitty directing as the books were pretty solid imop. I’ve also watched several of his European movies and was blown away at his talent so hopefully this really brings him back to at least a B list actor.
@@jaythekid4728 you’re tripping he ain’t a b tier list actor you must’ve not watched his other films watch good time, the lighthouse, the devil all the time, the king he definitely isn’t a b tier list actor he is most definitely a+ or s tier actor
@@oharoza4851 I have watched his other films but he’s still B list actor as he’s only been in 3 big budget highly profitable Hollywood movies. A list are actors like Leonardo, Jonny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel Jackson, Morgan Freeman just to name a few who are frequently in big budget Hollywood movies and have a very large film discography
I haven't seen too many people talk about this, but the sound design in this movie is simply amazing. Every time he revs the batmobile engine, the entire theater quakes and you really get sold on the muscle car batmobile. Every gunshot that ricochets and every punch that gets thrown has excellent sound tracking, in these dark fight scenes you can still keep track of where people are and what's going on just by audio cues alone. It just further adds to the excellent experience that the film provides.
Exactly what I came out of the cinema thinking. Even the motif when Batman is around of the acoustic guitar, so menacing. The use of silence when it needed to be silent, honestly the sound for me in this film was perfect
exactly, the sound design is top tier. they really made you FEEL the impact of everything. i also loved the scene where he fights at the club, the loud music + fighting sounds + red lights was an awesome combo
First Batman movie where I was genuinely terrified of Batman. His presence commands the rooms that he’s in and while he’s edgy and new to the job, he learns the lesson of being more than something for criminals to fear at the end, which speaks a lot to what Batman actually represents to Gotham as a whole. Pattinson absolutely killed it.
@@zaytoofy1184 dawg ik tension and the suspense are supposed to make u feel a typa way but let me tell u i was grinning thro the entire film cuz it did all of those so well i couldnt help but smile
2 favorite things: - Batman & Gordon being the best detective duo I've seen in a long time. - They show how intimidating and terrifying Batman really is. At the beginning especially, they show how criminals believe he's in every shadow and could appear in any moment. I love it.
Intimidation factor rose over 9,000 too when he crashed the Penguin's car and just menacingly strode toward it. Dude doesn't have to say or do anything, just walking scares the shit out of the bad guys.
@@MrHoll87 about that scene, isn't it weird that penguin wasn't arrested ? I mean he did cause a massive crash and someone probably died in those trucks.
@@shalindelta7 Yeah I was confused by that. After Bats and Gordon interrogated him and left him chained up, I assumed they'd call an anonymous tip or something and have him arrested. But no. He just pops back up at his club like nothing happened and I was like "what???"
Right? "Wouldn't want to get blood in that fancy suit." "Mine or yours?" Batman in Catwoman's apartment, Penguin roasting their Spanish, I could go on! 😍
I'm telling ya, casual smartass comments like this make for good moments rather than purposely stopping in the middle of everything to make a cheesy joke
You can feel the bromance vibes throughout the movie though. There were a few times where they seemed like they would go at it. Their kiss felt earned.
When he helped that person on the helicopter stretcher and they didn't want to let go of batman, you can see the compassion in his eyes. It was never about vengeance, it's about saving. I love this Batman and his arc on becoming a hero.
I think it was about vengeance, until he realized that he wasn't really saving people and that fear, pain could only do so much. He was in denial in Arkham, but that Riddler goon calling himself "Vengeance" sent that message clear.
Ugh I KNOW! I’ll edit in a bit. Edit. Ok so I noticed the contract there. The first scene we see of Batman is one of the civilians asking Batman not to hurt him. The next time he intersects with a civilian like that she doesn’t want him to let go. Shows growth AND a perspective change. Idk I thought that was kinda cool.
Contrast that with the 1st person he saved in the movie begging Batman not to hurt him. All the public really knew him for was kicking peoples asses at night lol
I remember the first time I saw the trailer for this where he says "I'm vengence" and I was like "uh no, you're supposed to be justice" but I loved how he realized he was wrong by the end of the film and has to make adjustments to his approach to truly make a positive difference. Excellent character arc for Batman for once and I didn't see it coming.
It's not that it's not about Vengeance. He clearly stated it. He is Vengeance. But he isn't just that. He is more than that. He is hope. The hope that Gotham is t beyond saving. He is Vengeance to criminals and the hope to the people of Gotham, that Batman would save them.
The coolest part about this movie would have to be seeing it in imax and feeling your seat shake as the batmobiles engine roared in the scene with penguin . One of my best theater experiences
I hate dark movies. If a scene has a background that is pitch black and only has a face in the foreground I find it ugly. This movie has none of that. Sure it's dark, sure it has some scenes with cold colours. It is never fully black and it is one of the best shot movies I have ever seen.
I think he'll grow into the Bruce Wayne character given then events of this film. He understands why it's important to inspire people now. We'll get a more typical Bruce next film.
the only problem with that is that hes basically gonna have to bust a total 180, going from total emo that had social anxiety at a funeral to walkin out a new model or 2 on his arm every night
@@stevenwoods5787 I think we are going to see little changes and him struggling to develop that image in the second movie.. coz this Bruce wayne was designed to this way.. so they gonna develop him slowly...
mild spoilers but I was so floored by the scene at the end of bats holding that person's hand before they were airlifted out of the arena, that to me is such a brief but effective way to showcase EXACTLY what batman needs to be. fucking stellar.
The thing I really liked about Bruce was that he's young and he hadn't adopted the playboy persona yet. And I think in the next film he will definitely have it because he realised that he can help as Bruce and Batman.
Small character tweaks and this Bruce can be perfect. A haircut, plus 3 to 5 notches more on charisma, say it’s been a couple years and the portrayal is golden.
Spoiler alert: I love how rewatchable the movie is. Most people think of the whole Rata Alada as a plot hole, since Batman couldn't solve easily that bats are known as flying rats and that the orphan was him, although it would've been impossible for Batman to be El Rata Alada, because they were looking for a snitch, which turned out to be Falcone, and the orphan riddle wasn't about Bruce Wayne, it was about Edward Nashton. I firmly believe that the purpose of those two riddles was to make the audience feel how this case impacts Batman in a really personal way, as if he could be emotionally compromised in any time, especially when he thinks that Riddler discovered his identity and was about to make it public, but it turned out worse: Riddler thinks of Batman as his ally, a reflection of his own ideals.
Honestly, being Spanish, the whole Rata Alada plotline was pretty ridiculous all around. I couldn't stop laughing. But I get that it was not meant for Spanish speakers.
@@jmgonzales7701 I guess you speak spanish aswell. I don't know, it felt so ridiculous and obvious. Maybe it was just me, but couple people laughe in the cinema.
Most importantly, we finally got a Batman who's actually doing detective work for once. And not just a half-assed two minute scene. It's something I've always wanted and something sorely lacking in prior adaptations. The Batman was everything I could've hoped for and so much more.
This is my biggest issue with the movie. This satisfied the desire to see a detective Batman, but now I can’t actually give a fair review of the movie because I’m still in the honeymoon phase after a week
This is my biggest issue with the movie. This satisfied the desire to see a detective Batman, but now I can’t actually give a fair review of the movie because I’m still in the honeymoon phase after a week
yeah but as a mystery this story kinda fails, since there's not enough information given for the audience to follow along and make guesses at the plot, and bruce's "detective" work really amounts to "waiting for someone else to know something and tell him" most of the time. whether it's alfred solving a piece of the cipher(which we never really focus on) to the penguin being the one that understand basic spanish, to nonsensical shit like rat with wings=literally anything that flies lol
Little too edgy for me, I never believed this guy actually had a master plan or any backup plans for that matter. Just the ‘ooh I’m craazy’ shtick.. tbf I don’t think I’d like jigsaw either
The eyes combined with that chiseled fucking jawline. I was skeptical about him as Batman but seeing him throughout the movie with that ONE look (you know exactly which one I mean) I started feeling more and more like this is an amazing Batman
I once heard about an interview with Chris Evans somewhere and he said that because of Cap's helmet, it was harder to show emotions through his eyes because the helmet was covering the eyebrows. Idk how Pattinson did the same thing so flawlessly and without moving much of his face either.
I'm most amazed by how well they balanced a healthy dose of "comic book silliness" in an overall darker movie. From the Penguin's character, to Batman's near indestructible suit, to some flat-out slapstick moments, they all blend well into the world this movie is set in. The tone and atmosphere of this movie couldn't be better.
Its incredible how Reeves and Pattinson managed to make Batman feel the most comic book accurate he's ever been on the big screen while still setting the story in this sort of hyper-realistic world. Nothing feels out of place and the arc they gave him is just *chef's kiss*.
I love how despite this movie being shot in Chicago and Liverpool for large portions of it (The Gotham Square Garden is the State of Illinois Building in Chicago for example), the film was still able to create such a defined Gotham. The bright neon signs combined with the dingy elevated train stations and alley ways created this amazing Neo-Noir aesthetic that I really loved.
FINALLY! In every other live-action movie it really just looks like a bleaker Chicago. But this looks like what I would expect Gotham City to be like. Gives it a little more identity.
I know I loved it so much. It honestly gave off slight Tim Burton Batman vibes, but modernized. The city itself is intimidating and you could genuinely imagine there being some really screwed up people and things going on there.
Finally, a Batman that actually feels like a hero, that scene where he helps those people stuck under the debris, and helps people and emergency staff to evacuate. Thats what a hero is, not some big cgi fight against a world ending monster that literally gets nowhere close to destroying a city. God, and its clear that hes new at this and fails to stop Riddler from flooding Gotham. *mwah* Beautiful I want more
I'm dumb, I was like "help them Batman what are you doing??" because I didn't realize that up until that point he hadn't really helped people- he was just out for vengeance and beating up criminals. But thematically it's perfect.
I do wish you had mentioned the action scenes a bit, I really liked that they had longer takes as opposed to most actions sequences nowadays. It made the fighting seem a lot more fluid. Also that dark scene lit by gunfire was perfect.
I can’t get over that scene it’s just so good, especially at the end when he just menacingly walks up to the last couple guys while being sprayed with bullets oh my god I love this film
I watched it in theaters last night with my boyfriend and leaned over to say "this is an awesome scene." That, and the car chase with the Penguin was just so impactful that I was on the edge of my seat.
That part where the cop is all pissed at Batman for tampering with evidence and Gordon just says, "He's wearing gloves." Top-shelf Batman humor. 5 comedy points.
@@laseede17 Marvel movies don't have a laugh track either though, and the jokes work better in my opinion. For me, it's probably a tonal thing, not only is the movie not trying to be laugh-out-loud funny, but also I was just too invested to be in a laughing mood
@@Dommbuscus Right, which is a horrible way of integrating jokes into an otherwise serious movie. Marvel movies are reminiscent of The Big Bang Theory in this regard.
One of my favourite things about this movie was that there isn’t a separation between Bruce Wayne and Batman yet. A lot of people don’t get that Batman isn’t who Bruce Wayne becomes at night, Bruce Wayne is who Batman becomes when the sun rises. Bruce is the mask he wears, the cowl is who he truly is, and I loved that this Batman hasn’t learned the value in that yet, to throw people off.
This reminds me of a moment where Bruce tells Terri(Batman Beyond) that he doesn't call himself Bruce in his head , pretty blatantly implying he refers to himself as Batman .
This is exactly why I hate the people saying "Lol, this Bruce Wayne is so emo and brooding in this movie". Like, every Batman fanboy always ogles over those scenes in the comics and the cartoons where Bruce genuinely thinks of himself as Batman and not "Bruce Wayne". Every DC stan loves to cite that scene where Bruce is mind-controlled and asked his identity and he still subconsciously referring to himself at the caped crusader. It's great, because that's who he is. And now that we have a Bruce who hasn't started acting out the surface-level Bruce Wayne persona yet, all the nerds are missing the whole point and calling Pattinson a bad actor. These people don't even know what they want.
I loved the symbolism in the final scene where he’s treading the water to save the people. For the entire movie he only emerges from darkness. Him shining the light from the flare shows that he changes from being Gotham’s vigilante to Gotham’s protector.
This movie gave me Arkham game vibes, which I loved. When you said it was 3 hours I was genuinely shocked because the pacing is so good I thought it was only 1.5-2 hours
Many people have been saying this. I on the other hand really felt that last leg. Aside from that and what little we got of Alfred, solid movie all around. More or less what I was expecting. Glad it didn’t disappoint.
It's not even 3 hours though, no matter how many times people say that. It still isn't quite 3 hours with the credits, which shouldn't count toward run time anyway.
I didn’t realize how much i needed this reality check of a movie after a watching whole string of marvel shows/movies over the past few years. THIS is the kind of superhero movie that demands my respect, and I’ll give it

@@BabysitterSky I'm a much bigger Spiderman fan than Batman fan but this literally was much better than No Way Home. Sure, NWH was a nice Superhero movie, but as a movie in general? It's nothing special. The Batman easily is better in many aspects. Think about things like the directing, the acting, the cinematography. Do you see any of those being superb in NWH? Because I 100% didn't. Even the story was pretty underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, it was amazing seeing all 3 Spideys on-screen and fighting all the villains, and it was an enjoyable movie, but it just didn't have that interesting of a plot. Compare it to something like Spiderman Homecoming, which had a smooth story line, and showed the struggle of being a teenager and superhero at the same time, and lead Peter to understand what his life purpose was, then you'd see how bland NWH really was. It was basically just a fan-service film. And again, I love Spiderman more than Batman, and Marvel more than DC. But saying this movie was worse than NWH? Nahhh bruh, this movie was amazing.
One thing I really liked is how early on in the movie it has scenes of him getting hit fighting regular thugs. It's a nice change from the Christian Bale Batman who drops in on bad guys and kicks their teeth in without getting punched. To me it just makes the fights easier to get invested cause you know that even though it's Batman he can get messed up.
It did a good job balancing that he can absolutely wreck most people in a one on one fight but definitely is human. His suit is heavy, multiple opponents make things difficult, and he dosn’t have unlimited strength or stamina. just a little bit of plot armor
@@ATSinclair11 to this point, at the end when he gets hit point blank by that shotgun I wondered why he didn't attack quicker. After thinking about it I realized that over the course of the whole fight he had been getting hit a lot and even with the suit those shoots would have still beat him up. I just like that I showed he got beat up over the course of the fight
I could be wrong, but at times it felt like Batman was being arrogant, or putting up an "I'm invincible" facade to instill fear on his enemies when he kept deliberately walking towards gunfire, even shotgun shells, then cut to him gasping out of breath on the ground, like, what did you expect lol, he's lucky no gothamite aimed their gun at his exposed mouth area
I absolutely loved how in the batmobile chase you felt disconected from Batman in a way so it seemed so much more terrifying seeing it more from Penguins perspective
right? my favorite parts of batman stories is when they take you out of batman’s perspective and show you the fear that he strikes into the hearts of the criminals instead. a short film about criminals being hunted by the bat is like a dream.
I loved the juxtaposition at the end of the flood scene where Batman lights the flare to save people. He is so obsessed with the shadows to gain advantage, he realized what Gotham needed at that moment was a light in the darkness. Simple. Effective. Well done Matt Reeves.
I must say, even though he was in the movie for only a little bit, Andy Serkis did a fantastic job as Alfred. He truly brought the heart and soul of Alfred out in full display, especially in: SPOILERS- the scene in where he was chatting with Bruce while in the hospital. You could feel every ounce of pain and regret he had in his voice. Truly outstanding.

Ikr he was only there for like few minutes and when that bomb went off i really cared about him. Its NOT easy to do that in modern movie. Screenplay and script is just genius
When Batman and Gordon interrogate Penguin, that has to be the funniest shit I’ve seen in a while. “You two are really a duet, huh?!” “You know , you two should really start harmonizing!!!” in the most “Italian” New York voice style dialect ever And they leave Penguin handcuffed at the legs to do a penguin walk 🤣🤣
I was the only person in my Cinema that actually Laughed out loud at the penguin walk. i was drinking something at the time and the drink actually came out of my nose... it was so unexpected, and although it was obviously put in as a joke, it didn't feel like it was just in there for the sake of it. Great stuff!!
I mean in the Dark Knight trilogy Bruce Wayne extracted a fingerprint of a completely shattered bullet from reconstructing another shattered bullet. That could be considered spy but Idk.
@@trevokwright2802 That's actually the thing. A lot of the time in the Dark Knight trilogy, the "detective work" is brute forcing things with hyper advanced technology. In The Batman, he still has such technology... but they aren't solving the riddles for him.
@@NordicNer Right. The tech helps in The Batman sometimes like when “DRIVE” was deciphered but solving those riddles heavily depends on how well Bruce understands them. His mistakes make that pretty clear.
That first shot of Batman coming out of the shadows genuinely put tears in my eyes. It was phenomenal. All the criminals staring at the bat-signal.... So fucking good
Same I was in the theater and I literally couldn’t help but have a gigantic grin under my mask the entire time as he narrated, prowled and then finally appeared
Plus the way all the cops react to Batman. Just staring with the occasional off hand comment. Like if you were a cop and a superhero/detective consultant walks in as a bat you’d stop a stare.
The entire funeral scene where Pattison doesn't say a word from the moment he sets foot in the church until the end some 3 to 5 minutes later is incredible. Really highlights the non-verbal acting he had already shown as Batman, but without the mask restricting him. Great directing too.
I feel like not enough people are talking about the amazing score. The dissonance created so much tension that matched perfectly with the plot and visuals and holy shit that theme slaps
@Novem's Natural Roll I mean the dark Knight trilogy also repeats the soundtrack a lot. Especially the dark Knight. Go and watch and in almost every scene the same sound is repeated.
@Novem's Natural Roll I get that. The theme was quite repetitive, I just found that I only noticed the theme specifically on those huge moments like the chase scene where it really fit. Just my opinion tho :)
Most other reviewers seem to take issue with my favorite part of the movie: the lack of the dichotomy between Batman and Bruce Wayne. We’ve seen the billionaire playboy facade done countless times, it was awesome to see Bruce before he learned how to put that mask on. So glad you pointed this out, it seems to just fly over everyone else’s head while they’re looking for some way to criticize the film.
exactly! i love how it seemed like such an excruciating ordeal for him every time he was forced to go out and be bruce lol. i think that consumingly obsessive and angsty facet of his character is refreshing & worth exploring bc it gives us the sense of there being an actual journey he goes on in order to figure out how to balance the two identities.
Only like 3 reveivers have mentioned anything about that, the other people loved that about this movie, the movie makes it a clear Bruce Wayne development will happen in the sequels
That shot where Batman cuts the wire he is hanging from and falls down to save the people from the flood was when I realized that this was easily one of the best superhero movies in the last decade. The symbolism, the character arc being completed, the music, everything about that shot was great.
Michael Giacchino did beautiful work here. There were multiple scenes throughout the film where I didn't even realize that the score had built up with the tension until it cut out completely and the tension dissipated. Absolutely spectacular.
I watched this movie with my dad who is in his 60s. After the movie he just kept talking about how this took him back to reading the comics and graphic novels in the 70s and one thing he said to me is now stuck in my head "This movie is how I imagined a graphic novel to be filmed" and I feel like he is right on point. Just everything about this movie feels like they actually made a gritty graphic novel and then turned it into a movie, and I fucking loved every second of it*. (*Disregarding the end ofc)
This is just my opinion, so more power to you, but I don’t really see the problem with the ending scene. I know Marcus wanted to avoid spoilers but I still don’t really understand what was bad about it.
@@SiddarthaTB fair. It definitely feels like a post credit scene. Matt Reeves did say he’s not sure how joker will work in the sequel though. He just wanted to establish that he exists.
Watching this Batman get hit with the "I'm Vengeance" line from the Riddler goon, then seeing him work through the night and presumably day to help the national guard was great. The dead mayor's kid being the first to take his hand was so cool. Then how that one person he helped into the helicopter stretcher just refused to let go of him, it clearly put right in front of us that Batman had learned something from this adventure. A great movie. Well worth a watch.
It's funny, I'm a big fan of the marvel series and movies, but after watching this Batman, I realise how watered down and fourmalic they are. It's great to see the main character have actual flaws and an arch, and a film that doesnt hold your hand. Really a master piece in the comic book genre
@@LuisSierra42 agreed, I think they have something amazing with this new Batman movie and I believe that they can create an amazing new world this these characters

The atmosphere in this movie was immaculate. The dark, gritty Gotham shots. Something I'd also like to mention is the moments where he was like a pseudo-vigilante where he didn't have the batsuit but was running around with a hoodie, cap and mask. Oh, I thought he meant the forced kissing and romance stuff, but yeah Joker was such a lame twist at the end. There are so many good villains in Batman universe, many of which would fit this dark world better than Joker. Joker has been on screen so many times, that I think it's time to say "enough from the clown."
@@Martinator0325 Rewatching this review, I was like "Wait, what scene was shoehorned?" because I guess I repressed the Joker scene from my mind. So thanks for reminding me
Paul Dano's riddler is by far, what I wanted to see from the riddler. I know it might not be 1-1 with comic books, but holy shit does this riddler really do a good job of making batman struggle to see past his own nose. At every turn, this riddler felt 3 steps ahead of batman until the very end of it as batman catches up.
I absolutely love the arch of Batman in this movie. Was very surprised when Matt Reeves said Batman Ego was a big inspiration for film considering other Batman titles used by other directors (Long Halloween, Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, etc.). Now I don’t think there was any better inspiration. The transformation that Batman takes from being a symbol of solely fear/terror to being a symbol of hope was amazing. One of the final scenes where Batman carries the boy to a helicopter is beautiful. Batman in the beginning is unsure that he is effective and questions whether fear is enough to stop crime in Gotham. At this scene he realizes that he missed the most important aspects to his crusade, HOPE. This is also shown that this boy unlike the beginning who sees Batman with some dread and fear, now sees him as a symbol of hope, a watchful protector, and most importantly a dark KNIGHT.
I really hope for the sequel we get Mr Freeze (as Matt Reeves stated he was interested in doing him) so the color scheme of the movie could be more blueish and have the waters freeze over for easy traversal for the characters. Plus have the movie take place during Christmas or New Years as a sort of Die Hard thing where it takes place during then but not overly holiday feeling. Also for the third film you could have purple be the main color for blue and red being mixed and the metaphorical feeling of finality with the Joker for the 3rd and last installment
How about making Mr Freeze a tragic and desperate character? Desperate to save his ill wife, who is being used as leverage over him by the Court of Owls (referenced multiple times in the film and likely gonna be the overarching villains ). A brilliant scientist with a cryotech speciality, who descends into a course of progressive moral degeneracy and crime...his soul and demeanour progressively growing colder to reflect his moral descent...a family man racing against time. Or for something smaller, have him be like a creepy van driver guy who has frozen bodies in the back of his van and retreats to his house to run unethical experiments in the name of his love. He can wear a hybrid of a lab hazmat/astronaut suit with a modified DIY liquid nitrogen spray gun that shoots like a cold flamethrower. The lighting in the suit can give him this eerie pale blue glow, contrasted with his deep, blood red goggles. He can talk all soft and well-mannered as if he's a completely normal person. Maybe for a plot twist reveal that the woman he is trying to save is not his wife (like that one Batman comic)
I really can't believe people found this movie "not funny enough". I love Marvel movies, but seriously what the fuck? There were jokes even in incredibly tense scenes. Its good to have humor to elevate scenes but not everything needs to be a full blown comedy. The banter between Batman and Gordon was hilarious a lot of times. Jeffrey Wright is so good in this. Loved the way they used Catwoman, giving her her own motivation and goals, while helping Batman learn on his arc. One of the key things Batman learns is the value of empathy, multiple times he gets called out by both Gordon and Selina about the value of life and to be more empathetic. Once he learns about the Riddler's motivation his worldview shatters, because that's the thing he was missing. Without empathy for the people that are hurt by the bad guys, by focusing solely on "being Vengeance", he was making Gotham worse and worse (in the beginning of the movie its said that the crime rate has gone UP despite Batman being around). That's an amazing theme to explore about Batman and we have rarely seen anything like it in most Batman media. The more I think about the movie, the more I like it.
People will probably claim that the moral and ethical question in this isnt as prominent as the Dark Knight, but honestly it's everywhere. It's just way more subtle and it actually handles something pretty deep that hasnt been discovered as much.
I went into "the batman" with low expectations because comic book movies have become such a formulaic slog to get through for me, especially the MCU. But this? No...this movie rocks!

Reeves' Gotham is grounded but he's set up a world where it will make sense for all these villains to appear, they're already out there, they just haven't met batman yet.
The movie just felt like an actual comic book storyline the whole way through and it still OOZED with style in every shot. I loved it so much. (SPOILER) And I wonder if they're gearing up to adapt no man's land or an arkham city style story with the sequel after Gotham is kind of in ruins at the end
I love how they made batman less of just some dark goober who is always brooding and has no personality, they made him more reclusive and silent yet still sarcastic and witty. I like batman better when he's got a sense of humor.
The Batman has revitalised my faith in big budget films. As long as people like Matt Reeves and Denis Villeneuve are out there, blockbusters can also be cinema
I liked how this movie felt like an entire comics storyline. A lot of marvel movies are just one event, and if you want the full story you gotta watch 5 other movies. This one felt like the whole 10/20/however many issues. A complete story is told and wrapped up in a way that left room for sequels but didn’t feel unfinished or overly baity.
"We finally get a Batman who refuses to use guns, refuses to kill anyone, and most importantly--a Batman who learns the value of human life" good god I could feel the triumph in that statement. Bless Matt Reeves for delivering this spectacular movie to us.
I just love how he's not invincible. You see and feel every gunshot hitting him and even if they don't do too much damage, you still feel the impact and see how he's still a real person. The fight scenes were amazing, the way he can beat up a whole gang but without feeling too overpowered was brilliant. I felt every punch he took and that's why I love this movie. 9/10
actually, i felt the exact opposite. bale's batman often came out of his suit with bruises and wounds. battinson? not. a. single. scratch. ever. if that's not invincibility, i don't know what is.
@@tobias9246 nah, I felt like this batman was legit Ironman level of protection. Full on close range gun shots were tanked. Even in the last part where the shotgun was leveled against him I felt there wasn't any real danger outside of the blast over powering his grip. Bale bitched about a dog bite.
@@iksardon tbh I think Batman does lighten his armor as he grows more experienced and quicker as a fighter, and then returns more to heavier armor as he ages
I love how the Batman’s footsteps were so pronounced as he walked slowly. The theme that played as he walked reminded me of the music in a Western when an outlaw and the sheriff face off at high noon. My boyfriend pointed out that the Batman’s footsteps kinda sounded like he had spurs. I especially enjoyed the movie showing the Batman as a hero and a competent detective and not just a masked vigilante that punches his way through everything. There are so many more things I could gush about (like the Batmobile) but this comment would be too long. Some of the lines were kinda cheesy/borderline cringe but overall everything about the movie was phenomenal.
Absolutely loved this film, but agreed there were some iffy lines. But I absolutely cracked up when he's sitting there with his emo hair and dark bat eyes and he snaps at Alfred YOurE nOt my fAThER.
I really love how this movie kinda ditches the whole Bruce Wayne in the day and Batman at night thing. Bruce Wayne practically doesn't exist other than a few scene where he's almost forced to go into the public eye. And the growth from him being Batman at the beginning to learning to trust people in the end is fucking awesome
It makes logical sense too. If you've ever had to work night shift, you know how much it can zap any energy you may have. At some point you kind of have to dedicate your life to doing it, so any extra curriculars kind of go by the way side after a while. Realistically, Bruce wouldn't really be as prevalent in the public if he was constantly being Batman every night, 365 days out of the year.
As a Batman fan, I almost cried at the end of the movie because this Bat is represented to perfection. Robert Pattinson is my new favourite Batman from the Movies and this is the best Batman movie by far! For the ones who loved it as well, i recommend the Batman Telltale games, they're really similar.
The scene with all the thugs afraid of Batman being in the shadows was amazing. I feel it captured Batman's fear aspect in a such short scene yet better than any past movie has.
I absolutely loved how realistic the choreography was, street thugs fought like thugs and not one at a time and actually got off some hits on him. Not to mention how brutal and impactful all the hits thrown are
I got to admit, I was already expecting a good movie out of these, but that’s the thing, even thought I already had good expectations, the movie was WAY MORE than just good, it’s even at the same level or maybe even just a tiny bit better than the Nolan trilogy.
My biggest problem is Batman’s lesson in this movie is “fighting criminals isn’t gonna change anything, I need to help people in disaster areas and lead them” it’s just exhausting that no body understands Batman
@@ryanconder637 took it more as “I can’t just be *vengeance*, I need to actually help people too” and the lesson tied together pretty well since he incidentally was one of the inspirations for the bad dudes at the end
@@ryanconder637 I think you're really simplifying the actual final realization. It's not about "I need to help people too." It's about him seeing that he's only made the city he wants to help worse, by creating an even more vile breed of criminal through his actions. He's angry, he still can't get past his parents death, I mean the dude is 20... It's realistic. Him hearing the riddler goon call him self vengeance made him see what he truly needed to be in order for Gotham to be saved. And I fully believe over the next 2 movies, you're gonna get the Batman you're talking about. He's just growing to that point, because he has an actual arc for once.
From your impressions, it feels like Pattison’s Batman is a lot like Netflix’s Daredevil. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but if it gives off the same vibe as the series, which I feel like it does, maybe a bit darker, from this review, then I know I’ll enjoy the hell out of it.
Ngl, I did think the corruption element in Batman was done better in Daredevil. This film was gorgeous, but I do think it could’ve made an unparalleled limited series. Except maybe Daredevil? Probs why they made it a movie
I can't keep myself from smiling for the first 20 mins of this movie because it just felt like opening a comic book! I love this intrepretation of Batman where he is a freak in everyone's eyes because all he ever did was insert fear & "vengeance". That's why (SPOILERS!) seeing part of him reflected in the criminals & choosing to save Gotham citizens in the end was just pure heroic. His arc was right there: creating a symbol of hope. All the villians really fittingly portrayed today's society while still being comic characters. Just can't wait to rewatch.
I can't really express how much of a relief it was from the first scene when I saw this in the theatre. I went from "is this gonna suck, how can this be 3 hours" to "ok, I'm hooked" in jus a few shots. It's a fantastic movie on its own, and despite re-watching Dark Knight right after, The Batman is the movie that's still fresh in head, and I continually think about all the amazing shots, the lighting in each scene and just how put together it all was. I loved how they finally made a Batman movie where Batman does detective shit. I'm so glad we got to see a version of Bruce Wayne that feels authentic and vulnerable. Without a doubt Pattinson is my favorite Batman now, and this is without a doubt my favorite Batman movie.
“If Batman wanted to help the city he’d donate his money” this film legit showed that the Wayne’s tried to be philanthropists (like usual) and their legacy went to pure corruption. I do agree i would like to see more Bruce Wayne in future films, cause that’s something the Nolan films balanced well. I loved the film
Tbf - aside from this movie - I'm unaware of any batman media that says he DOESN'T donate his money. The guys got money coming out of his ears; he can fund charities and still be batman But more to the point, you can't just throw money at every problem until it goes away. I don't care how much you dump into charities, there will still be poor people, homeless people, criminals, etc.
@@znerd3664 In the comics the joker did something that incriminated Bruce Wayne and he lost his money, company and funding. I think the only billionaire left in the bat fam now is Dick and I am pretty sure he placed most of his wealth into a foundation he created but I digress, Bruce is no longer donating money as he really doesn't have much money to donate.
The film didn’t even feel like a Comicbook movie at all, it felt like a MOVIE, the cinematography was great, the jokes were weaved in organically and funny, and the visual storytelling without a word needing to be said was on point, and this was the Batman story I had always wanted to see in live action, THAT scene definitely could’ve been saved for after the credits though and hopefully we get Bruce Wayne being less reclusive as the movies go on, but that’s also the point
That was my problem with it. There was almost nothing about this that needed to be called "Batman." Most of this movie could have been a generic murder mystery.
That scene did feel shoehorned in, but I’m mainly annoyed with the logic of it. Why would (Spoiler? I’ll still be very vague, but even then, inferences can be made.) That guy be allowed to interact with others detained in the facility after what he’d just pulled?
Literally everything this man said from the comic book accuracy to the phenomenal cinematography, where all things I was telling my friends after the movie. Love your channel man keep up the good work!
I’ll never forget when my older brother made a complaint that this movie was too “detective-ie” and not enough “Batman-ie” I’ve never wanted to have a sibling brawl more in my life than when I heard those words come out
Batman went from a menace in the beginning of the movie to a hero in the end, which is perfect in my opinion. I watched for 3 hours and left wanting another 3. I hope they keep this up for the sequel.
Since they confirmed that this batman isn’t gonna be in the dceu I really hope they introduce more of the bat family in pattinsons batman movies. I feel like it would work really well with his character and help him develop into the batman capable of fist fighting a literal god like he has in the comics
I hope they introduce the Bat Family during next movie, which will most likely be an adaptation of No Man's Land, and then we'll have A Death In The Family, with the Dining Faces Ripped Off Scene, would be absolutely horrifying to see on the big screen (and Pattinson would 1000% be down for it)
@@alchemistofsteel8099 I think they could pull it off in one film, if they put an ellipse and throw us into full No Man's Land. I feel it would be a nice opportunity to introduce Jason seeing how he met Batman, and since every body knows Robin they can almost jump start the film using Dick. Could end with the Joker killing Jason and Film 3 is A Death in the Family with maybe elements of Dark Knight Rises
The Joker scene was important. It shows that Gotham is en established place, with an established history of criminals that Batman has already met, so he has no choice but to stay, instead of going with Selina. The scene reinforces his decision.
Mmm, it's still really long and drawn out. A laughing sound effect as Riddler was crying in jail is all they needed to tell the audience that joker would be in the sequel
As a non-Batman fan, this movie seriously blew me away with how faithfully it adapted the character and how much it fixed the problems I do have with the comic version. I seriously underestimated Matt on this one; this was just amazing.
@Xavier A faithful adaptation can change a character and still remain faithful. He never said accurate. I grokked that he doesn't like how BatGod™️ gets handled in the comics, and that the movie played to the characters strengths while managing to stay away from the continuity baggage comics can have.
@@fantasyconnect Actually, it was something concerning his no-kill rule I’ve always thought was kind of dumb that was handled beautifully here, but I’d rather not go into detail about what it is right now. That’s too thick a nut to crack for my current energy level. I do however appreciate how realistic he is while still being a detective genius and legit ass-kicker.
The soundtrack is phenomenal. The tones that play when Batman marches sound like a variation on the chord progression used throughout from 'Something in the Way'. And the way 'Ava Maria' is worked in along with the strings to play on horror tropes... It's so good. I think it's my favourite incorporation of licensed music in a soundtrack (aside from Edgar Wright's films) and along with the aesthetics and characterisation of the villains, I finally felt like I was experiencing Gotham on the big screen.
That’s because the entire musical theme of the movie is based on that Nirvana song. The “mmmmm-hmmm” is the basis of the entire sound track. It’s genius
I’d have no problem if you posted a “Cosmonaut Picture Show” when this comes out on Digital/DVD. Treat yourself and tell us what you love in specific moments from a GOOD movie on there.
6:17 the character arc Batman goes through makes total sense considering the fact that one of the comics they drew inspiration on was from Batman: Ego. In that comic, Bruce realizes that he not only needs to be a force of vengeance striking fear into the criminal underworld, but also a watchful protector and symbol of hope for the good people of Gotham. I can’t explain my happiness that this movie accurately represents that specific character development.
On the other hand: I think it’s entirely necessary for the film to revisit Riddler after all the action and to see his reaction. Pretty much all I do mind about that scene is the need to make the character he’s talking to that character. Even a different character would do it. I think everyone’s just a bit burnt out on seeing another take so soon. This was so original, I’d love to see more less-tackled villains before we see Barry come in.
Completely agree, I also think that because it is that character it just takes the attention away from the Riddler and everything he had just done. It had me thinking about the movies to come when I should have been in the moment seeing the Riddlers reaction. Could have and should have been literally any other character than that.
I don't mind the scene too much now, I hated it when I first saw it though. But It's not as bad now, mainly because the Director says that they don't plan for him to have any major part in the movies, they just wanted to show that he's here and beaten
I thinking that Mr freeze as the enduring villain of the next movie would be excellent. It would challenge Bruce as he tries to care about and inspire people while balancing keeping the people safe. This Bruce is also a scientist and inventor, so it's possible he'd be able to help in someway before or after his confrontations with freeze
Spoilers! That Joker scene still feels forced tho. Feels like an MCU end credit scene. They could've just showed The Riddler's reaction and cut out the Joker
I still can't believe we managed to get a movie this good, considering how it began as something else entirely (written by, directed by, starring Affleck)
This movie was a trip though and through. This movie to me never had me tuning out. Every scene had purpose and my only gripe were the cuts during the batman and penguin chase scene. Sometimes I had no idea what was going on but holy shit, in IMAX, I felt like I was in the car with him. I agree with Marcus’s score of 9.5/10 but as a Batman movie, it’s a 10/10. I thought zack snyder’s justice league was the movie I wanted and it did scratch the itch with all those heroes as a whole. The Batman just ticks every box in everything I want in a Batman film and I wouldn’t want it any other way with anybody else. And Michael giacchino deserves so much praise for the music. Outstanding performance!
This is by far my favorite Batman film ever made. It was the first time I felt like I was actually watching Batman from the comics on screen. His presence alone is intimidating, methodical, deliberate, scary, and in control. I've seen it 4 times, and still can't stop thinking about it. Absolutely going to see it a few more times before it leaves the theaters. Robert Pattinson is absolutely my definitive version of Batman.
The fact that everyone I care about really loved this movie, alongside with me, makes so happy. I knew I was going to love this film, because just as Marcus said, it's the Batman movie I've been waiting for my whole life, but I never even hoped that I'll be able to share this love with everyone else. Thank you Matt Reeves!
One of the standouts that not many people give credit to Robert Pattinson is his eye acting, the way he just looks at something or someone and you just feel his presence and you just understand him
Absolutely! I said this to my boyfriend after we saw the movie. His eyes are incredibly expressive and the movie often focuses on that to wonderful effect.
@@dthbdbsfgh not overreacting just facts. Only Brie Larson(performance in Room, a film you MCU stans have probably never seen) and Ruffalo are the only ones who can act in anything. All the others just play themselves. Bland acting
Oh thats what it was? I thought it was the drops they had mentioned a little throughout the movie that he would have if he ever needed it as a last resort. But the adrenaline makes much more sense.
@@akerravala I don't know for sure but I doubt it would have been shown in closeup as such a big moment if it was just adrenaline. Maybe I am reading too much into the sort of film language but it seemed to be at least some kind of easter egg to me.
The beginning monologue is so damn good. The cinematography is amazing. The thriller/suspense feel and comic book/cartoon Batman feel is great. My favorite Catwoman and my favorite Batman. Catwoman felt straight out of the cartoons, just watched them recently and it was perfect. I hope we get to see more of Bruce Wayne in the next one. But man, every fight scene with Batman....the punches hit so hard. The aggressiveness. Fucking loved it. Even after 3 hours I was so ready for more. The Nolan movies are our Blockbuster Batman, while this is our Comic Book Batman.
One thing i love about the movie is how it contextualizes goons, basically every other movie or whatever basically just short hands them as hired mercs or just simple thugs. In this they make them come off as a scarily realistic aspect of deranged able to find eachother over the internet and do something horrible. the scene of all of the Riddlers goons about to basically cause a mass shooting is far more scary then any mutant warlord or evil millionaire with a mech suit.
"You could've at least pulled your punch."
"I did."
The most Batman and Gordon moment in cinematic history
fucking gold
That was such a good scene
The GCPD escape scene was my favorite part.
He was holding back,right?
Lol, no.
He almost killed a henchman, he crash landed when he flew in his wingsuit, and he ran away from police instead of teleporting. Great way to show that this batman is still a rookie
It's weird when Batman punch that guy dozens of times and he doesn't get knocked out. In every other scene Batman punch a guy 1 or 2 times and the guy gets knocked out
@@porc1429 I bet you that guy had severe brain concussions and might die latere anyway
He's the epitome of The Quiet Kid.

Was looking for this comment. The sound design was indeed phenomenal. That really heightened my experience in IMAX.
His footsteps! Not enough people talking about the footsteps!
Exactly what I came out of the cinema thinking. Even the motif when Batman is around of the acoustic guitar, so menacing. The use of silence when it needed to be silent, honestly the sound for me in this film was perfect

First Batman movie where I was genuinely terrified of Batman. His presence commands the rooms that he’s in and while he’s edgy and new to the job, he learns the lesson of being more than something for criminals to fear at the end, which speaks a lot to what Batman actually represents to Gotham as a whole. You can feel the bromance vibes throughout the movie though. There were a few times where they seemed like they would go at it. Their kiss felt earned.
I feel like they really set it up honestly
The scene coulda been fixed if it ran a little longer

Yes 😭 Batman detective and that Alfred helped is EVERYTHING
100% agree! Loved seeing him be The World's Greatest Detective!
yeah but as a mystery this story kinda fails, since there's not enough information given for the audience to follow along and make guesses at the plot, and bruce's "detective" work really amounts to "waiting for someone else to know something and tell him" most of the time. whether it's alfred solving a piece of the cipher(which we never really focus on) to the penguin being the one that understand basic spanish, to nonsensical shit like rat with wings=literally anything that flies lol
This movie also took one of Batman’s most campy villains and turned him into Jigsaw. It was scary and awesome at the same time. Pure cinematic genius.
When i first learned that the main villain was going to be The Riddler, I won't lie, I lost a little bit of hope for this film. BOY WAS I WRONG! 🤣
Little too edgy for me, I never believed this guy actually had a master plan or any backup plans for that matter. Just the ‘ooh I’m craazy’ shtick.. tbf I don’t think I’d like jigsaw either
The riddler has to be the coolest on screen villain in any comic book movie
More of a Zodiac Killer than Jigsaw. Which only highlights how reality is sometimes stranger than fiction.
@@RS_mamf Edgy? Who knows what you're talking about. But look up Zodiac Killer.
I cannot get over pattinsons eyes. His DAMN EYES. He legit conveys so much through subtle shifts in his eyes
The eyes combined with that chiseled fucking jawline. I was skeptical about him as Batman but seeing him throughout the movie with that ONE look (you know exactly which one I mean) I started feeling more and more like this is an amazing Batman
Amazing indeed. Looks like Pattinson is holding a nasty fart all the time. Truly inspiring acting.
@@leikeylosh Come on... :)
I once heard about an interview with Chris Evans somewhere and he said that because of Cap's helmet, it was harder to show emotions through his eyes because the helmet was covering the eyebrows. Idk how Pattinson did the same thing so flawlessly and without moving much of his face either.
And people still want to give him white eyes to be comic book accurate, I’m begging that doesn’t happen

The city was given insane character in this movie and this is the first time where I've felt Gotham is truly a shit hole when watching the movie.
I mean. I don't know if you've ever been to Liverpool, its wet, dark, and miserable with a healthy spattering of art deco and gothic buildings
I know I loved it so much. It honestly gave off slight Tim Burton Batman vibes, but modernized. The city itself is intimidating and you could genuinely imagine there being some really screwed up people and things going on there.
A lot of it was filmed in Scotland
Finally, a Batman that actually feels like a hero, that scene where he helps those people stuck under the debris, and helps people and emergency staff to evacuate. Thats what a hero is, not some big cgi fight against a world ending monster that literally gets nowhere close to destroying a city. God, and its clear that hes new at this and fails to stop Riddler from flooding Gotham. *mwah* Beautiful I want more
At the beginning when he didn’t help the dude I was like “oh no” but it all worked up to that scene in a powerful way
BVS was shit just like MOS and ZSJL
when he jumped to cut that electrical cable without hesitation. that was so powerful.
Agreeee, I cry my heart out seeing that beautiful scene... (cheff kiss)❤
THAT SCENE WAS SO AWESOME
I can’t get over that scene it’s just so good, especially at the end when he just menacingly walks up to the last couple guys while being sprayed with bullets oh my god I love this film
Oh you mean how in most action films they do about 20 different cuts for just one punch? Lol
I watched it in theaters last night with my boyfriend and leaned over to say "this is an awesome scene." That, and the car chase with the Penguin was just so impactful that I was on the edge of my seat.
That scene really reminded me of the darth vader scene in rouge one. That on top of the theme being super similar to the imperial march
That part where the cop is all pissed at Batman for tampering with evidence and Gordon just says, "He's wearing gloves."
Top-shelf Batman humor. 5 comedy points.
I laughed out loud in the theater with that joke. People that can't laugh if they don't hear a laugh track are morons.

Pin this
This is what I’ve been trying to tell people for the past week lol
Yeah it’s clear in this movie that Batman sees his Bruce Wayne appearances as a chore he has to get through.
I feel like many of the fighting moves are also inspired from the Arkham games
It's not even 3 hours though, no matter how many times people say that. It still isn't quite 3 hours with the credits, which shouldn't count toward run time anyway.
bruh i watched it 3 times it feels like 1 hour
Same about the Arkham vibes. I don't know if that was intentional or not but it worked perfectly.

@@BabysitterSky How are you comparing it to no way home tho?
Yeah he wasn't as skilled in combat which I liked. It seemed like he got carried by the suit in a lot of fights
I just like that I showed he got beat up over the course of the fight
@@bababooey8330 I think Batman is going to get more skilled as the series progresses

I absolutely loved how in the batmobile chase you felt disconected from Batman in a way so it seemed so much more terrifying seeing it more from Penguins perspective

And the best part was that batman never caught up. The riddler literally had to tell him he missed it and basically gave away the ending to him.
I didn't know a director could read a Batman comic other than those three.
Also for the third film you could have purple be the main color for blue and red being mixed and the metaphorical feeling of finality with the Joker for the 3rd and last installment
i like this a lot, weve seen the joker done a million times.
When I saw the water at the end, I couldn't help but think it's going to be a penguin and Mr freeze movie next! Big Mr freeze fan
It seems like he’s willing to have multiple villains in the movies

"We finally get a Batman who refuses to use guns, refuses to kill anyone, and most importantly--a Batman who learns the value of human life"

The fight scenes were amazing, the way he can beat up a whole gang but without feeling too overpowered was brilliant. I felt every punch he took and that's why I love this movie. 9/10

So glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed the western thing! I loved how much WEIGHT there was to his costume, you could hear that overpreparedness

I was literally smiling unconsciously throughout the whole movie. Patman is #1. Period.
patman… that’s cute ;(
I absolutely loved how realistic the choreography was, street thugs fought like thugs and not one at a time and actually got off some hits on him. Not to mention how brutal and impactful all the hits thrown are
I love how much more comic booky this movie is without being unrealistic.
It's the perfect blend for a comic like Batman, just like the Sam Raimi movies are perfect for Spider-man.
I got to admit, I was already expecting a good movie out of these, but that’s the thing, even thought I already had good expectations, the movie was WAY MORE than just good, it’s even at the same level or maybe even just a tiny bit better than the Nolan trilogy.
Meanwhile, you have people like me that were shitting on this movie during its promotion, but here I am having absolutely loved it.
@@ryanconder637 it's not like he's gonna stop punching bad guys, he's just helping out gotham in more ways.
Very similar to daredevil in season 3 it was a really good movie all the way through
You like daredevil then, boy, are you in for a treat!!
Ngl, I did think the corruption element in Batman was done better in Daredevil. This film was gorgeous, but I do think it could’ve made an unparalleled limited series. Except maybe Daredevil? Probs why they made it a movie
Even down to utilizing a Nirvana.
Cant believe people are now saying batman copied from batman's ripoff 💀
I can't keep myself from smiling for the first 20 mins of this movie because it just felt like opening a comic book! I love this intrepretation of Batman where he is a freak in everyone's eyes because all he ever did was insert fear & "vengeance". That's why (SPOILERS!)
seeing part of him reflected in the criminals & choosing to save Gotham citizens in the end was just pure heroic.
The Wayne's ain't like batman/Bruce. Bruce is a brilliant detective that can surely detect if there is corruption in his company.
Tbf - aside from this movie - I'm unaware of any batman media that says he DOESN'T donate his money. The guys got money coming out of his ears; he can fund charities and still be batman
But more to the point, you can't just throw money at every problem until it goes away. I don't care how much you dump into charities, there will still be poor people, homeless people, criminals, etc.
@@znerd3664 In the comics the joker did something that incriminated Bruce Wayne and he lost his money, company and funding.
It was a comic book noir film. It just didn’t feel like the superhero movies that been put out for the past 10 years

Imagine that, a detective story coming from a character originating from DC. Insane.
Batman went from a menace in the beginning of the movie to a hero in the end, which is perfect in my opinion. I watched for 3 hours and left wanting another 3. I hope they keep this up for the sequel.
Bro when the teenage girl grabbed his hand, that made me tear up. Batman knew right then and there, he has made a change.
Since they confirmed that this batman isn’t gonna be in the dceu I really hope they introduce more of the bat family in pattinsons batman movies. I wonder what Harley and Ivy would be like this in this universe.
I hope they at least introduce red hood, we need him in a movie!
I hope they introduce the Bat Family during next movie, which will most likely be an adaptation of No Man's Land, and then we'll have A Death In The Family, with the Dining Faces Ripped Off Scene, would be absolutely horrifying to see on the big screen (and Pattinson would 1000% be down for it)
@@victorbenoin4732 I feel like the Batfamily should be introduced slowly. Like one movie will introduce Robin the other will introduce Batgirl.

As a non-Batman fan, this movie seriously blew me away with how faithfully it adapted the character and how much it fixed the problems I do have with the comic version. I seriously underestimated Matt on this one; this was just amazing.

The whole warehouse and highway sequence is better than anything the MCU has ever put out
@Xavier A faithful adaptation can change a character and still remain faithful. He never said accurate.
I grokked that he doesn't like how BatGod™️ gets handled in the comics, and that the movie played to the characters strengths while managing to stay away from the continuity baggage comics can have.

@@nrant311 we don’t have to bring up the mcu in order to praise the batman
It’s always special when Marcus gets to review something he genuinely loves
The best things about this channel is when he explains why he loves the things he loves.
I’m saying they should go for Hugo strange
Been following Giacchino's career since he was scoring Alias and Lost and this might be the best score he's done. Maybe besides Up .
Ooh yeah, I should definitely catch this in IMAX this weekend. Good call.
