Live life with reasonable confidence is indeed a good precept to live by, specially if one wishes to be OCD-free. One caveat though. OCD seems to be spontaneously wear-free (albeit losable with therapy), that is, to keep OCD alive and well doesn’t require any deliberate efforts. You just let the worry of the moment make decisions in place of your judgment. On the other hand, reasonable intentions are naturally depletable (albeit renewable with a healthy lifestyle), that is, one needs to make regular and concerted efforts to keep one’s reasonable intentions in good shape. So, in my opinion, people with OCD must spare their valuable mental resources, that is, let habituation on its own wear down their OCD and try to make wise decisions without undue delay.

Dr Reid calls it the 'act as though...' idea. When you get the thought, act as though it's not true, it's not a threat. Stop responding to the ocd the way it wants you to.

I definitely think some people will experience higher anxiety, in life, in general, than others. And that's okay!
