you shouldnt use your hand to get rid of the excess water. after you line it up and put it on you should use the squeegee to remove most of the water and then you use the heat gun or blow dryer to remove the remaining moister that remain do it that way you will get lett air bubble and way better result and less time
Great video! Got an estimate of $100 to put on my rocker decals on my MINI Countryman S. I'm frugal, so after watching your video, I'm going to attempt it myself. Love the wet method b/c it's moveable. I'm a novice and have never done this before with large decals, but I feel pretty confident. Thanks for the video!!!!
Why does everyone have to point out the obvious, who cares - his truck regardless diesel or hemi it is still a beautiful truck along with his house you jealous people. Great application video none the less. I am actually putting on a cummins logo for my truck similar to yours.
Aggreed Like putting the vinyl on the ground not cleaning it joh there are so many issues no squeezy was used so i bet that decal looks like a teeager hitting puberty's face
i always do the wet method. its just so much safer. I never use a heat gun though. i just squeegee out all the water while the backing paper is still on.
Well he likes wet method and probably hasn't been installing for 20 years. In fact 90% of our customers have never installed vinyl before. Most don't even know what die-cut is until they watch out basic vinyl video.
Few quick suggestions - Use ONLY blue painters tape as regular masking tape can leave a residue and often is too aggressive for loose paint. Second - the top for the decal should always be as smooth and straight ( not cutting around the vinyl ) so that you can simply put a strait line on the top of the decal. Also during the production you should place a simple line ( felt pen works best ) from this center line horizontally you will be able to align nearly if not perfect. It is a great video but investigate using the squeegee with a sharp edge ( comb the plastic on squeegee with a blade making it sharp ) this can serve as a knife or "knife less tape" after 400+ successful wraps I would never approach a vehicle, boat or RV with a blade - even a simple nick can cause rust in areas where salt is delivered - all costly mistakes. Also placing tape horizontally on top and pulling sticker back, spraying the surface and removing the backing also spraying it will make this install almost 1/2 the time and can be solo up to 60"x120" - which I have done before many times - remember adhesive on vinyl works in 3 ways - heat, time and pressure - always expect the worst when outside like wind, rain, snow and temperature - vinyl is best installed in 70-80 degree weather finally - DO NOT use or introduce heat until POST the removal of the transfer tape as this can cause serious damage to a vehicle. There are reasons why professional charge $75-150 and hour - it's far cheaper that paint! - Dawg House Wraps - Saint George, UT and Triple Seven Signs, Las Vegas NV 435-680-8309 / 702-329-3637 - We Wholesale and Ship in and out of the US and have been around 26yrs for a reason! Good luck and be safe.
Dawg House Wraps while all amazing suggestions. Our videos are for people that don't want to pay for the tools and have maybe 0-3 decal installs under their belt. We have what you suggest and use that on our installs but we can't even get people to purchase a $2 blue card. So our videos are catered to those people. However, we agree with you 110%
Thank you for this video, I'm just getting started in the decal business and I've got some to do on the windows at my gym and I'll definitely be using the wet method as the vinyl he wants is a bit pricey so there's no room for error!
I find it helps to spray the application tape after the decals are one and worked. spray and wait a little while to let the water soak and loosen the adhesive
Bro thanks for the video, you got to be careful with all the cry babies on youtube now a days they just want a reason to bash someone, they watch your video to learn some thing but still they act like they know it all lol, I subscribe and one of those thumbs up is mine.
angel ofmine Thank you!!! We take it all with a grain of salt. You can't please everyone, but the 99% that get it is all that matters to us! At this time we have had over 4,400 views and about 5 Keyboard warriors. I think we are doing something right;)
Good video for applying such simple vinyl with fat letters. all you did was right but when you work with something harder, smaller... try not to use only your hands xD people will do that to something different and..... bubbles bubbles in the aiirr xD
I just made the same observation! Cummins envy much? Although, when I bought mine new in '04, the Cummins was a $5000 option; don't know what it's up to now on the 6.7
hmm yea thats one way. maybe not for a first timer. have your vinly cut straight across on the top. position it how you want it and hinge it all the way acrosss the top. Now you can cut up between a few letters to lay a few at a time. now it this was more of a decal vs letters then this would be a good approach.
Wow! How about not laying the decal on your driveway surface. This results in dirt particles transferring to the truck panel and resulting in a bad transfer of the decal. So many mistakes made but he was very lucky to end up with a decent install.
Bodyguard Graphics we use dawn and about 1-3 drops depending on size of bottle. Just enough to make it a little slicker than water alone. Too much soap and it will slide too much for too long before it adheres.
Yeah, so I didn't do this. I just laid in on the car dry. I have tons of bubbles. I popped a lot. Do you think some time in the sun will flatten them out? Or should I just get a new decal? :(
Arizona! It will be 100+ this weekend! I think I'm going to just rip it off and redo it. It wasn't that expensive. I did the other rear window (with your help) and it came out really good.

Thank you for this tutorial, couldn't have applied the stripes on my WRX without it! :)

Weston Juul lmao but yet, you still did 🤪🤪🤪
Because.....obviously no one legitimately puts a Cummins sticker on a Hemi truck. Like putting training wheels on a Harley; just isn't done. No class
this is a pretty awesome. straight forward install video. kudos sir. I'm gonna recommend this to all my customers.
I wouldn't.
All 232 dislikes on this video are from those of us who actually do vinyl and can see the countless mistakes this guy made.
@@georgea.9684 I wonder why those guys did'nt disliked any other batter & perfect DIY video?!

Vincenzo Barranca yup. I only put vinyl on my car like maybe once a year.
Thank you so much for this video Vincenzo I have had to put the factory decals back on my car after a hit and run and your vid made the job dead easy.
artiexr222 -Why is 222 part of your username? Just genuinely curious.
"Heat Gun" just sounds a lot sexier than "My Wife's Hair Dryer".
wife's probably pissed off looking for her hair dryer during the making of this video.
'Wet application' and heat gun - both unnecessary. And who uses a credit card for a squeegee? Anyways you got it on the the truck. Congratulations.
The Cummins Turbo Diesel Ram 1500 is like a unicorn!😂

How did it go?
I find it helps to spray the application tape after the decals are one and worked. spray and wait a little while to let the water soak and loosen the adhesive

Why not split the Turbo letter so it's not cut off?
Awesome decal but you put it on the wrong truck bro. That's not a Cummins !!!
Alejandro Alcantara once again. We had the truck, we had a spare decal.
I just made the same observation! Cummins envy much? Although, when I bought mine new in '04, the Cummins was a $5000 option; don't know what it's up to now on the 6.7
@@TheSicilianoHandyman No excuse man. You don't put a Cummins sticker on a Hemi truck. Sacrilege

Thank u

not bad. it will help me install decals on my 15 Z06.
What is the formula for your water solution....what soap do you use?
Bodyguard Graphics we use dawn and about 1-3 drops depending on size of bottle. Just enough to make it a little slicker than water alone. Too much soap and it will slide too much for too long before it adheres.
Bodyguard Graphics we also use rapidtac from time to time but that is pricey and really not needed unless under extreme hot or cold conditions
Thanks brother.
Is that the paper transfer tape or is it the clear?
Elton paper
You wouldn’t use soapy water on a self-adhesive decal, would you?
Dennis Goebelt it’s literally a drop of dawn per bottle.
cAN YOU APPLY IN COLD WATER?
Yeah, so I didn't do this. I just laid in on the car dry. I have tons of bubbles. I popped a lot. Do you think some time in the sun will flatten them out? Or should I just get a new decal? :(
Mike Colburn sun will help. Depending on where you live it could take a week to 3 months.

Nice install video
Awesome
Good job
what kind of transfer tape is this? paper or a type of vinyl?
karen Stephens Seymore Rtape conform. It's application tape, not vinyl, not paper.
What kind of vinyl do you use?
Heather Seutter we use a variety of vinyl depending on its use. We use Oracal 651/751, Avery wrap, 3M carbon fiber, etc.
Great video thxs
Very good tutorial. But why is he putting a Turbo Diesel decal on a Hemi??!?! LOL.
Bryangx already answered this. Spare decal we had laying around. Took it off as soon as we were done.
Do you use Rapid tac 2 or alcohol
JBIRD575 water with a drop or 2 of dawn. Used rapid tac and like the old school method better. Just personal choice.
Vincenzo Barranca ok any alcohol
We've never used it. The dawn cuts grease and wax alone.
Vincenzo Barranca ok thanks
great job
Deary me :-0! No need for the hairdryer at all, squeegee out the water and you save yourself 'popping' air bubbles.
So why is this guy putting a 'Cummins Turbo Diesel' sticker on a 1500 5.7 Hemi truck???
DONT PULL OUT??? THATS PROBABLY THE WORST ADVICE IVE EVER HEARD
IF I DIDN'T PULL OUT ID HAVE LIKE 5 BABY MOMMA'S AND 20 KIDS
LMFAO
GOOD VID THO
Pete Geanacopulos gay bro!

Painful !!! don't give up the day job lol
