I bought an eye cream by mistake. What a mistake! My face cream works MUCH better for my whole face. Some ‘extra’ creams r nothing more than a makeup artists’ extra coin.
Oh yeah something I only found out when I went to the ophthalmologist: If you have dandruff, and your eyes are often irritated or you often have something in your eyes - chances are you actually have dandruff in your eyes. It can make the eye look puffy and you might think it's allergy. I would recommend visiting the ophthalmologist or dermatologist as they can recommend medications or cleaning methods and products S2 lol and stay unpuffy out there :p
Thank you Cassandra. I cried for 3 days straight and today my face and my eyes are super swollen. This video is right on time. Made me get up and put an under eye patches on
Cassandra! I love your videos, but you always mention things being or not being eye safe. Can you do a video on how to determine if products are eye safe or not, I don't know what to look for! Thanks
She recommended in a different video some micro-needle eye patches with hyaluronic acid. As doctors can't add hyaluronic acid injections to the hollowness in the inner corner or eyelid, I've been trying these patches for top and bottom of my eye and so far it has been helping. They are expensive, however over time the hollowness is being reduced. Other people might not notice it, but you will feel the difference.
Thank you for taking the time to separate out & explain the differences between under-eye issues, I learned that I have some pigmentation & wrinkles but not puffiness! Also, my tube of Beauty of Joseon ginseng & retinal arrived about a week ago. My skin is loving it so far!
This was so helpful! Thank you so much. I knew from your previous videos that my facial products work just fine for my eye area, but these eye tests help me to focus more on what I could do to reduce the puffiness under my eyes. I love your passion for these topics and your transparency with your own journey. ❤
Even if your current moisturiser doesn’t have the actives or texture you need for under your eyes, chances are you can get a new face moisturiser that will treat your issues for way better value than an eye cream!!
Test results: The hyperpigmentation is real, the eye bags are fluid retention, which I hate because I'm fastidious about my water intake. Barely any crows feet, which is cool at my age
I've been through crying a lot in a short amount of time and it turns out I have depression. I take an antidepressant now. Taking antidepressants doesn't mean you're weak. You just have a chemical imbalance. My psychiatrist asked if I had a broken leg would I be embarrassed for using a cast? I said no. It doesn't make you a zombie. You will still be you. You'll just be a little less emotional. It's like a boost! You can try it and if you don't like it then you can stop. It's so worth it!
But make sure that you can go, after time went by without the cast.. It's not a lifetime solution because that is not life to me personally if you feel like a zombie everyday and your feelings are off 😕😟
I love your presentations! Also love your style! Thank you for the education. I casually used the " skintelectual" term wile treating my husband's under-mostach fungal infection and skin irritation . ...he gasped.
I use my Olay retinol 24+peptide fragrance free all over my under and over eye now. I used to be scared as there is an “eye” version but the face one works absolutely fine for me. I refuse to buy an eye cream ever again…. unless it’s got caffeine in it (for mornings where I need a little refresher when I didn’t get enough sleep). The first time was daunting but so happy that my eyes aren’t too sensitive ❤
I use an eye cream but that's cos it's fragrance free. The moisturiser I use contains fragrance. However the eye cream is cheap so not so bad and I only use it once a day so it lasts me a while
There are certain actives in my eye creams that I don’t want to use on the rest of my face. Also, I love the luxurious feeling of using some really nice eye creams. I respect your opinion, and I think it’s nice info to put out there for people on a budget who need to know how to prioritize skin care, but I won’t be avoiding eye creams any time soon.
I’m on a tight budget but like to invest in skincare. I buy nothing to myself so skincare is the only thing that I spend on. Eye creams to me feel the safest around my eye. I don’t want to use something that’s irritating. I love using actives & like the reassurance that it’s safe around the eye. So yeah, love my eye creams. I got 3 (1 full size & 2 sample size) from Paula’s choice & I LOVE them. They won’t take the discoloration but they do - do something. I also like the olehentikson banana eye cream for the day time! I use 97% Paula’s choice!
These are all super helpful tests and I really appreciate you spilling the tea(bags)! I would love to know of something that smoothes skin around the eyes. My under eyes are very bumpy textured (it's not milia) and it makes me self conscious.
I really think that K beauty eye creams are very effective and inexpensive. I find they work better under makeup. Love Pyunkang Yul Black tea eye cream for day and BOJ Retinal .025% for my under eyes and neck at night. It’s like $12-$15 for 1.7 oz.
Those tests were really helpful! I was always a bit confused about dark circles and eye bags, cause people tend to put them in the same category. But now I know I definitely don't have eye bags!
Thanks for the video, Cassandra! And I really like the top you're wearing. I quit buying eye cream a long time ago. Maybe 20 or 30 years. I'm a fan of Paula Begoun who created Paula's Choice, and she too says eye creams are unnecessary. I use my regular moisturizer and put a little Aquaphor over it. And I've used mineral sunscreen around my eyes for years, and I wear sunglasses routinely. I'm 61 and don't really have crows feet. However, I do have a slight indentation at the outer corners of my eyes. Possibly I'll have crows feet in 5 or 10 years. And I have some fine lines under my eyes. But really, I can't complain, considering my age.
My under eyes are purple and it's vascular not pigment. I use an eye cream with retinol formulated for that delicate area, and I've found red light therapy helps too by making the collagen there thicker. I don't recommend anyone else do that btw, you're supposed to wear goggles! But it has made a huge difference for me.
This was a great reminder for me! Years ago I did the pinch test and found that my under eye purpleness went away. I started focusing on putting retinol on my under eyes and while it improved, it didn't go away completely. Today I did it again because your vid reminded me and the purpleness stayed put. So now I'm doing both retinol and the dark spot correcting cream I got for a stubborn bit of color on my upper chest area. Thanks!😊
Eye doctors are saying Not to use retinoids near the eyes because they can damage the meibomian glands and cause dry eye, which is not a pleasant condition to have anyway, you don’t want to cause it or make it worse. Also, I’ve noticed Cerave has a nice eye cream that has a few things worth it over the regular moisturizer. 1) it’s a lot thicker and stays where you put it. 2) it comes out in tiny little amounts that none gets wasted. You are using precious little. 3) this is my own theory: I am thinking this form of moisturizer can become a bit of a protective barrier to nearby products that might wander to close to the eye. ( I guess it’s theoretically possible that it could do the opposite by creating serum/lotion friendly highway to your eye area, but this has not been my experience). So I put it on first. So even if it’s moisturizer ingredient list is the same as a facial moisturizer, the “vehicle” they put it in is specific to the skin in a very sensitive and important area I feel.
I've gotten so many eye creams as samples or included in sets. I reverse what Cassandra is saying and use the eye cream on all of my face wrinkles. Especially those around my lips and nose. I haven't found the holy grail yet.
My eyes are always puffy. How do you get your eyelids to go down. I can get my under eyes down but not my eyelids. It doesn’t look good. Great video. It helped a lot. I already do eye massaging but I do need help. Getting my eyelids down would help me greatly. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
When that happens to me I use my caffeine infused eye cream on my upper eyelid but above the crease I'm too worried about getting in my eye if I use it below the crease. That mixed with lymphatic drainage massage really helps minimize it but the biggest thing is drink enough water to balance out your salt intake.

I would love to know what you think about the Pigmentclar Yeux from La Roche Posay! I wanna try it out but don't know if it's gonna work for me (after the pinch test the darkness goes away for a second and then comes back for me).

i've been there with the puffy eyelids due to crying... i used to use cold spoons on my upper eyelids, but my non crying puffiness doesn't seem to be helped by that. is there anything i can do for upper eyelid puffiness?
I feel like I have the 4th unspoken eye issue. Since a young age, I’ve had very hollow under eyes bcz the natural fat pads slipped down a bit and rest on the tops of my cheeks under the skin. I hate it. What can I do for this besides surgery?
I want to know why you cry so much honey, really?!? Ive been watching your channel for so long now and ive learned so so much!! @@kikiTHEalien Thx. I saw that. I was referring more to my arms and hands than my face. I'll be seeing a Dermatologist in a couple of days. Haven't seen one in many years. Other than aging badly...I haven't had a need to see one. Can't afford expensive interventions. Just Topicals with Actives.
You didnt mention how to treat/heal/cure puffy eyes due to fat deposits, typical treatments for puffy eyes due to water retentio such as cucumbers, under eye masks, ice cubes do not work!
I feel lucky, maybe because I always wear sunglasses I have no concerns with my eyes, and yet they tolerate everything, including my tretinoin...Hopefully this will help in the future :)

I'm a tear trough girl. Sigh. Guess I'm just going to have to get really skilled with the highlighting concealer, because I won't be getting tear trough filler.
The micro-needle eye patches she recommended in another video helped me with this issue. You will need some uses to notice a difference, but I can confirm it works 😊
Cassandra, are those your natural lashes or are some artificial? I am still trying to figure out how to use Falsecara or fake eyelashes. My lashes are sparse and short. I am older, so they are aged. Yours always look fresh. I've seen women who have fake lashes put on...but they don't look as natural as yours. I don't mean to pry. I just wish mine looked like yours.
@@haleyrsm That is what I suspected. Thanks for the clarification. I have a Physicians Asst. I see from time to time...and she has those long, think curled up fake lash extensions. They get crunchier over time. Gross. I don't think I could handle fake lash extensions. I am gonna try Falscara though. Got issues with getting lash off card. Always difficult to get it off without it getting twisted and messed up. Still trying to figure that product out.
What about an eye cream from K-Beauty? It is called Marine Care Eye Cream. Contains Marine Collagen, Adenosine and Peptides. The texture is different. Occlusive is what they call it. It is very thick. I have hollows under my 62 yr old eyes. Not fat pads. I also have a K-Beauty Retinol specific for the undereye. I use it before bedtime. I know you have said eye creams do little to nothing. But...if they contain Peptides, Collagen and/or actives like Retinol...do you consider them more EFFECTIVE? I trust Cassandra's opinions. I got Juvaderm filler in the undereye Once. Did nothing. Changed nothing. Got HA Fillers in my mid face at the same visit. Also...did nothing and changed nothing. those are no longer on my TO-DO List...EVER. That "NOTHING"...cost 1300-1400 dollars.
Heimish marine eye cream its thick clay like green. I personally dont do well with thick products so ive been using the sample i got on my inner thigh chafing since its so thick cream and such dry irritated skin and so far its working great.
@@PhoenixFlowerEmma Yep. That's the one. It is heavy...but I think my hollows like it. I like the clay consistency. Very little needed and does take a bit more PATTING to spread it around. I really like it. I bought a Retinol for Eye and still waiting to see if it helps or hurts my crows feet and undereye hollows. I use the Marine Eye Cream in AM. Retinol is for bedtime. Kind of seems like it is causing a slight wrinkle, so watching that closely.

@@SwedishTourist probably. I'm on chemo so I'm sure that's making it worse too
@@Danisuzette Ah yes, that makes sense. Wishing you all the best. :)
i've been there with the puffy eyelids due to crying... i used to use cold spoons on my upper eyelids, but my non crying puffiness doesn't seem to be helped by that. is there anything i can do for upper eyelid puffiness?
All my eye creams work and effective
What about fillers?
My eyes get sooooo swollen after crying - for a full day! The upper eyelids especially. And on top of that I get a tension headache. Ugh
Yes were cysters..lol or systers lol but any way ive had bags since i can remember its herrirtary and thenonly way to get rid is surgery so looks like im stuck with them!!! I do not wear i cream im 46 btw and yes its just moisturiser so.... I hope your not sad and your having a good day week month!!! Thanks for teaching me such great technics and giving great advice!! You go girl!!!
this is do helpfull!!!!
What about undereye HOLLOWS? That's my problem. I also have very thin skin with blue undertones. Whatever that means?

@@kikiTHEalien Thx. I saw that. I was referring more to my arms and hands than my face. I'll be seeing a Dermatologist in a couple of days. Haven't seen one in many years. Other than aging badly...I haven't had a need to see one. Can't afford expensive interventions. Just Topicals with Actives.
crying is actually a good thing contrary to popular belief (similar to laughter) - it is a release! Let it out...
You didnt mention how to treat/heal/cure puffy eyes due to fat deposits, typical treatments for puffy eyes due to water retentio such as cucumbers, under eye masks, ice cubes do not work!
Dear my eyes puffy so what i do any cream
I feel lucky, maybe because I always wear sunglasses I have no concerns with my eyes, and yet they tolerate everything, including my tretinoin...Hopefully this will help in the future :)
so helpful! thank you! so my skin seems to be thin which is what i suspected. originally went for retinol for wrinkles but happy to know it can help with my purpleness too. let’s see how it goes. it doesn’t bother me, but why not try.
I'm a tear trough girl. Sigh. Guess I'm just going to have to get really skilled with the highlighting concealer, because I won't be getting tear trough filler.
The micro-needle eye patches she recommended in another video helped me with this issue. You will need some uses to notice a difference, but I can confirm it works 😊
turns out i have dark pigmentation, no bags, and thus far i have 11's that seem to be more from dehydration!
I find that eye creams always make my eyes more puffy and i stopped using them
I have brownish under eye circles. I have heard that it's genetic and there is no helping it.
Did you try the pinching test?
All of the above Cass!! Help!😅
Qrx lap caffeine work and also zain obagi eye factor serum work good night cassette
I hate my eyebags they are horrible 😫 and people mentioned it everyday like i don't have a mirror and know 😔
Clarins Total Eye Lift is the Best!
Cass has semi-permanent eyelashes, she's talked about it quite often 😊
She’s gotten lash extensions they’re like 150$ and will last a long time you just have to get them filled every now and then and keep them clean
@@cheekyb71 I suspected as much. I gotta say they look very natural. I guess I missed those videos
Thank u ❤
What's goodie 🦋🦋🦋🌹
I love you too
this is crazy. way tooooo much jumbo
😂😂😂😂 ‘that’s where they live’
eye creams are a waste of money end of story
NEVER PULL your EYES bAGS EVER OMG NEVER TOUCH THEM unless you WANT TO AGE RAPIDLY 😂I can’t believe your telling girls to PINCH andbPULL them WTF 😂
1:10 into this .... WTF ?
I mean cassandra hhhhhhh Canadian and Arabic only sorry
Your really talking way to much. Come to point
Why are you recording yourself crying
Because you usually document the good with the bad as well for thorough reviewing. Even when it has effects that visibly upset you, that shows more empathy and honesty hence why I go to this woman warrior for skin tips!
Is it just me or lately, half the videos posted on this channel are about her crying all the time? I thought this channel was about education, not failing mental health and dirty jokes. Not everybody needs to know your dirty laundry, get it together girl. This is your reputation as a creator and a medical esthetician.
Or maybe have some empathy and not criticize someone who is going through something tough and just scroll by or unfollow quietly if you don’t like it? 🤷🏻♀️
Does the pigmentation 4:18 count for freckles too like I need to use the Bubble Daydream serum everyday to keep me from getting new freckles??? Along with my sunscreen of course 🤍🤍🤍
