I played BioForge years ago when it first came out...and while I found the controls pretty clunky, I thought the concept was pretty cool. Not sure how it will hold up today, but I look forward to trying the game again
I am a huge fan of movies and some television. I used to buy a lot of DVD movies, but that has tapered off the last couple years for some reason. Still, I love listening to Director audio commentaries...and watching the behind the scenes videos of how they make em. Good stuff!
I didn't turn off the red GBA lighting. That's full brightness next to the backlight one on the left. The video is completely unaltered from my camera in that lighting in my kitchen.
I thought it was weird that the EA Employee Store would stock SquareSoft games...but I guess EA helped Square distribute or get their games in stores in the 90s.
M.J.R, Thank you man, you reminded me of that Tintin game! I had my eye on it a while ago, but suspected it might be terrible and decided to wait till it was cheap. After hearing you're having a good time with it, checked amazon and it's £5 (U.K here) so bingo. Just finished Dragon Age Origins, loved it but kinda in the mood for a light hearted romp now! I've been a Tintin fan since I was a kid, so glad i was reminded. All the very best man. P.S: I don't have Crusty Demon's but i wish i did!
Brave Fencer Musashi was great. I remember being blown away by some aspects such as voice acting, a day/night cycle, and NPC's that move and do stuff throughout the day. Loved being able to absorb abilities too.
I don't play videos games (except for GTA on mute when i'm on youtube) nor do I watch any other video game channels but MetalJesus is just so happy and full of personality that its so much fun to watch. Thank you for being incredibly fucking entertaining :D
The Crusty Demons are a group of daredevil freestyle motorcyclists from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Boise. They produced 19 DVDs which contain impressive FMX footage from around the world, and often go on tour.
For those that aren't aware of the different SP models-Here are the colors to look for on the AGS-101 backlit model- The North American backlit version comes in three standard colors: "Pearl Blue", "Pearl Pink" and "Graphite" (a greyer version of Onyx Black). There were also two Toys "R" Us exclusive backlit models; a "SpongeBob SquarePants" model[16] and a "Limited Edition Pikachu" model.
Puggsy and Bubble and Squeak, I remember these coming out back in the day, they were fairly popular here in the uk, iirc there were Amiga versions of these games. Your GBA SP deal was amazing btw, keep up the good work.
The vast majority of garage sales have nothing I'm interested in. I typically have to hit 8 sales before 1 or 2 will have any games at them. It's all about percentages.
Pugsy and Bubble and Squeak are actually good platformers. As an amiga gamer I had the chance of finishing them both, many genesis games were actually ported from the amiga, some times vice-versa, during the golden 16-bit era. Psygnosis and Audiogenic were quite well known developes/publishers for these two systems, with so many good games on both platforms.
I know how you feel about finding old PC RPG's in the wild. The other day I found a copy of 'Kingmaker' for PC, it was in great shape with all of the thick manuals and floppy discs. Even if I don't play it, it still looks awesome and I'm happy to have it.
The Gold Box games are my all time favorites. Played through all of them several time and I still have them prominently displayed on my shelf. A very nice piece of CRPG history along with my Wizardry and Might & Magic collections. =)
Awesome that you met a guy who worked on NFS 3, that is my favorite racing game ever! I played that game a lot on my parent's PC when I was a kid, I probably know every track pixel perfect. lol
My jaw literally dropped when you pulled out Full Throttle. It's the only point & click adventure game I enjoy, and I absolutely fucking love that game!
Those D&D games still hold up. I played most of them on the c-64 back in the day. 3 minute load times between dungeon levels sometimes which is when I got my homework done.
Hey MetalJesusRocks, those blank Famicom discs are most likely from the kiosks. They were in many shops and malls around Japan from the late 80's to the early 90's. from what I understand you simply brought your blank disc, put it in the kiosk, select the game you wanted and payed. The kiosk would then burn the ROM onto the disc! Pretty ahead of its time if you ask me.
I just picked up 27 records at a garage sale. I got some classic albums for a buck a pop. My brother in a law got a complete Sega Genesis. There is some amazing stuff out there.
Brave Fencer Musashi (Moo-SAH-she) is such an awesome game, a gem for sure! And I saw SSX 3 at a thrift store the other day and picked it up solely on your recommendation. It helps it was $2.99 too.
Hi Metal Jesus, I´m starting to see your videos and let me tell you that I admire your collection and your dedication, I collect games to, I have like 200 for different consoles, I love game hunting so much, thanks for your videos you and PeteDorr are an inspiration for me, greetings from Mexico!
I found the same GBA SP AGS101 deal you did at a garage sale the day after I heard you mention it on AGG! Mine had stickers all over it, and I actually had to replace the battery with one from another SP I had, but once I did that it worked great! I offered $3, and they took it. I agree - world of difference on the screen quality. Been playing through Link's Awakening since (my favorite Zelda game).
My friend growing up had Alien chase and allot of Video game mini-uprights -We would set up an arcade in his bedroom on his bunk bed. Good memories there.
Whenever I see that you posted a new video, I get all giddy like a schoolboy. Sounds kinda weird, but yeah... anyway, another quality episode. Thanks MJR! Keep 'em coming!
Brave Fencer Musashi is my all time favorite ps1 game, you will not be disappointed. You should totally make a review video of it cause I'd be interested about what u think of the game. It's truly a gem for the Playstation.
Oddly enough I just picked up AD&D Eye of the Beholder on SNES. Cool pick ups man, super jealous of that Brave Fencer Musashi, been looking for that game forever!
Nice haul. I got that same GBA SP recently (thanks to you and Jason Heine talking about it on the AGG podcast, I knew what to look for) for a decent price on eBay. Not $3, but about as good as you can expect online. I'd love to have those Gold Box games myself. If you haven't already, you might check out The CRPG Addict. It's a blog run by a guy who aims to play through just about every PC RPG ever made in chronological order. He's covered some of the games you showed.
These are some really good pickup's, though some little tidbit's of info. Tim Schafer also did a game on the Xbox (Original) called Psychonauts. I dunno if you have that game already but I'd recommend it. And the Pokemon Puzzle challenge is a different game, I think it was originally called Puzzle de pon or something to that extent. Good pickup's though, excited.
I do own Crusty Demons. It´s really a fun game. And the name comes from a bunch of motorcycle "dare devils" team. They are quite fun to watch as well. If you see what they do you´ll probably understand that the name fits right in. As always cool video. I felt good watching it as it was sort of a fix for my own collecting that has gone downhill because of financial problems of my own and the rise of the dollar price down here. Cheers!
A total hidden gem you should get is Gladius! It's an awesome tactical gladiator game by LucasArts, and it was recognized as one of the best games you never played on OXM. It's a total hidden gem that's on PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox
Dude! I am SO jelly of that CIB Full Throttle. Would give anything if I still had all my old LucasArts games I bought back in the day still in their boxes.
Oh my god! I played Full Throttle with my older brother when I was 6 years old. I never got very far, but I remembered the mini game where you stab the knife into the table between your fingers. I could never remember what game that actually was, but when you held up the Full Throttle box, I knew instantly that was it! I'm totally gonna grab that one again!
I flipped when I saw you pull out Full Throttle. I remember being like 10 years old playing this on my cousins husbands computer. Probably a bit too young for the content, but I turned out alright. A few years ago I actually thought I found it at a Goodwill for a buck, went home very excited, too excited to read...it was the demo. Womp Womp :(
crusty demons is actually the name of a line of old video series that highlight motocross stars. I think they debuted in the early to mid 90's on VHS. think Of those skate videos kids used to buy at places like Sun Diego or actual skate shops that had a whole bunch o endorsed professional skateboarders or up-and-comers in their sport. it was called "crusty demons of dirt."
I did not know about the Gameboy Advance SP backlit version I will have to look out for it! Back when I had an Advance I played the hell out of Advance Wars. God I love that game. My one friend says I mention it constantly without even realizing it.
Hey metal J " just wanted to say I came across your channel and we share the same passion for music and gaming your channel is inspirational and I hope to start my own channel. Thanks for being entertaining and inspiring
8:28 nice haul on the famicom disk system games MJR.I own one it's interesting to collect&play for to id suggest if you want it in all in one, then pick up a sharp twin famicom. The sharp twin famicom plays cartridges&disk.
I LOVED Bioforge. It was very difficult and the controls were difficult at first. I got used to it, though, and ended up having a great time. I wish they had made a sequel.
Most useful tip for survival, look away from enemies and run. If you can't see them they can't hurt you. Also its super duper easy. I think I died only three times through out the entire game and that was because I went to the club and there was so many t-type's other than being spammed by them for a small part of the game I probably would not have died at all. Survival is kinda narrow hallways that have branches that lead you to the same place in the end, some harder than others.
crusty demons is a real life MX display team, and the game was based on them, ive got it for ps2 and i really enjoyed it when it came out, altho i believe the ps3 was already out and in full swing when this was released for the ps2 so probably why nobody knows about it
Some really cool PC games, I am lucky to have most of the AD&D game i.e. Pool of Radiance etc (although I don't have all of them). Had not tried the Baulders Gate Dark Alliance on the Game cube but did play it and the first one on the PS2. They are really good as you can play cooperative two player & my wife played them through with me.
Sweet pickups MJR! I'm hunting through the computer section in goodwill I hopes to find you some games your missing! Looking for the big boxes only. Your the only one who collects them! I do have a C64 though, play music on it. Cool gold boxed ad&d games! Saw them once a
Crusty Demons is a MOTO X club or something like that in the South West U.S. like Metal Militia. They had DVDs in the early 2000 of riders doing stunts and things on dirt bikes
Dino crisis is in my top 10 games ever and it was the first game i bought for the ps1 back in the xmas of 99, i was 7 or 8 , I already played that game over a dozen times, its so good.
Metal j thanks for the heads up on tintin! Flashback is in my all time top 5 games I must have rented it for genesis at least 30 times from blockbuster alone. That and original prince of persia. Ill keep an eye out for those ssi series I live near you and am a garage sale maniac!
I demand a full review on "Scanengers of the Mutant World" just because it its the most obscure title I've never heard of. Also, congrats on the Full Throttle in big box, thts a version of the game I thats still missing in my collection of adventure games.
I played BioForge years ago when it first came out...and while I found the controls pretty clunky, I thought the concept was pretty cool. Not sure how it will hold up today, but I look forward to trying the game again

We took this week off. You can see the Chat Discussion on our Facebook page (worth a read)
I don't have Windows 7 or 8. I still rock Windows XP SP1 on a single core cpu from the early 2000s.
M.J.R,
Thank you man, you reminded me of that Tintin game!
NEVER underestimate Puggsy!
It's one of my first Mega Drive games, bought on initial release. You should absolutely try to finish the game
Brave Fencer Musashi was great. I remember being blown away by some aspects such as voice acting, a day/night cycle, and NPC's that move and do stuff throughout the day. Loved being able to absorb abilities too.

Metal Jesus is the kind of dude who anyone could enjoy hanging out with.
Crusty Demons is probably named after the Crusty Demons of Dirt Motocross videos..

Hahaha whenever i saw that game, i immediatly thought this was something you would mention, then i scrolled down to read the comments and BAM xD
I've never seen or owned an SP that wasn't backlit. That's one of the things I loved so much about it.
Puggsy and Bubble and Squeak, I remember these coming out back in the day, they were fairly popular here in the uk, iirc there were Amiga versions of these games. Your GBA SP deal was amazing btw, keep up the good work.

Curse of the Azure Bonds is amazing! One of my favorite Gold box titles!

Tunnels & Trolls is a play on the name Dungeons & Dragons... although not quite as catchy
Awesome that you met a guy who worked on NFS 3, that is my favorite racing game ever!
I played that game a lot on my parent's PC when I was a kid, I probably know every track pixel perfect. lol

OMG your videos are awesome! I like the fact that you seem to collect all sorts of games and stuff.
good call MJ. Baldur's Gate II on Xbox is one of my favorite multiplayers of all time. My nephew brother and I used to stay up for hours playing it.
Oddly enough I just picked up AD&D Eye of the Beholder on SNES. Cool pick ups man, super jealous of that Brave Fencer Musashi, been looking for that game forever!

Also, James Bond 007 is a SUPER great game. I played it a ton as a kid, and it takes a lot of exploration and discovery to succeed.
Crusty Demons are an 'extreme dirtbike' group, were pretty prominent in Australia at least around the time of the Xbox.
I do own Crusty Demons. It´s really a fun game. And the name comes from a bunch of motorcycle "dare devils" team. They are quite fun to watch as well. If you see what they do you´ll probably understand that the name fits right in.

yeah crusty demons have had some amazing cool movies made of them each year. really cool videos to watch and relax to.
Always happy to see old computer games.
Crusty Demons of Dirt was a video series of motocross daredevils. My brother and I used to watch those videos all the time.
I loved Full Throttle Growing up. Such a great memory.
Man that tin tin game actually looks really good. Definitely will have to check it out
Oh my god! I played Full Throttle with my older brother when I was 6 years old. I never got very far, but I remembered the mini game where you stab the knife into the table between your fingers. 20:09 minutes of perfectnesssss!!!
Hey metal J " just wanted to say I came across your channel and we share the same passion for music and gaming your channel is inspirational and I hope to start my own channel. Thanks for being entertaining and inspiring
Brave Fencer Musashi is my absolute favorite PS1 game! Getting it new for 5 dollars is absolutely unheard of! Very very good pick up.
I have the three pack of the Dragonlance Gold Box games, had loads of fun with them!
Exactly. Seems weird that MJR turned even the frontlight off on the red SP, makes the comparison a bit more extreme than it really is.
Wow, those DOS games are in great condition :O
You don't usually find boxed DOS games anymore,
some of them have such amazing boxes :D
you sir and your channel F**KING rock, im new but already a huge fan!
Great video! finally a Pick up video! Keep up the work MetalJesus! :D
Full Throttle was amazing! Great find.
best 20 minutes on youtube by far ..in the entire 2013 ..
Nice 80s hair on the front of Treasures of the Savage Frontier. It looks like Lita Ford, Dee Snider, and Labyrinth-era David Bowie all had a baby :-D.
Crusty Demon's was a motocross/concert tour and motocross video series for years back in the late 90's/early 2000's
My son is playing a Pokemon game in this blue Nintendo Advance while I was watching your video! He jumped to see your video.
I don't have Facebook, so, I like this video and I would love to see more of these.
If you buy Panzer Dragoon Saga for $3... I'll give you $5 for it. PROFIT! :)
8:28 nice haul on the famicom disk system games MJR.I own one it's interesting to collect&play for to id suggest if you want it in all in one, then pick up a sharp twin famicom. The sharp twin famicom plays cartridges&disk.
Crusty Demons are a motorbike stunt group. They are massivly popular in Australia
I agree .Hack is a series everyone should check out . It's has amazing style as it tries to replicate a mmo experience on the ps2.
I LOVED Bioforge. It was very difficult and the controls were difficult at first. I got used to it, though, and ended up having a great time. I wish they had made a sequel.
Damn I loved Pugsy. I used to own it on the Sega CD and loved it. Back in the day only Game Fan gave that game the attention it deserved.
Crusty Demons is actually a stunt motorbike show/team. Pretty popular back in their heydey

By the look of it, you have some awesome garage sales in your area!
FYI: Crusty Demons is actually a group of guys that tour the world performing bicycle stunts, much like Nitro Circus ;)
Turbo Dick...funniest name of a game i've ever heard! 😂
That is a diverse selection! Very nice.
Krusty demons was first a dirt bike DVD it followed around a group of pro riders doing stunts was in 99era
Metal j thanks for the heads up on tintin! Flashback is in my all time top 5 games I must have rented it for genesis at least 30 times from blockbuster alone. That and original prince of persia. Ill keep an eye out for those ssi series I live near you and am a garage sale maniac!
Torment Bioshock and FFIX next to each other always puts a smile on my face.
I got the Commodore 64 Plug & Play joystick, a few years ago in Kay-Bee toy stores for around $10.00.
I demand a full review on "Scanengers of the Mutant World" just because it its the most obscure title I've never heard of. Also, congrats on the Full Throttle in big box, thts a version of the game I thats still missing in my collection of adventure games.
Definitely you are a gamer icon!!!
