14 gt stock engine what's better for low end torque loki or gen3r? Also is the loki upgradable for more power down the road? Do either blowers have that supercharger whine? Thanks
Both kits deliver fantastic drivability with Odin being the spicier option. Configured and tuned on 93 octane, Odin drives very well. Our staff member's '16 Mustang GT and '14 Mustang GT both daily drive with Odin kits. We look at it like this. Loki is our Level 1 offering and compares to similar offerings as an entry point into supercharging your vehicle. Odin is level 2, offering support for further goals and modifications. The Loki Level 1 kit can be upgraded to Level 2 as they share the same supercharger/head unit.
Hey Juan! The new Mach 1 would utilize the Odin kit for '18+ Mustang. Give us a call to the shop or shoot us an email to sales@vmpperformance.com and we can walk you through the specifics for your vehicle. Look forward to working with you!
Hey Jason! That's right where an Odin kit lands depending on the quality of the 93 octane fuel. We've seen mid-high 600s to low 700s on repeat with every install at the shop. The Odin kit comes with every component you need for the installation. Only separate purchases would be a tuning device, such as an RTD on 18+ vehicles, and the HP Tuners credits. We even include a tune file as part of your kit purchase.
To run E85, you'll need a return style fuel system like our VMP Plug and Play system. The fuel volume demand with E85 goes up about 30% and is more than the stock system can handle.
The adapter plate is machined specifically to fit and use the stock throttle body. Once a Loki owner is ready to consider upgrades, we recommend doing away with the adapter and upgrading to Odin kit spec TwinJet 69MM throttle body and the Odin cold air kit. If your goals are for higher power than what Loki offers out of the box, we recommend the Odin kit, as it is the kit designed to provide a higher initial horsepower and a simpler path to higher horsepower goals and the price difference for the initial kit purchase is lesser than purchasing the parts individually.

No. Any of the cold air intakes designed to work with the OEM intake manifold will not work with Odin due to the throttle body angle utilized on the head unit.
If you install the VMP triple pass heat exchanger without the fans, what kind of IATs would you have sitting in traffic vs with the fans? Some would argue the fans only benefit when sitting in traffic and when the vehicle is moving the fans then become a restriction. What do you guys think?
Hi JT, we find that the fans keep the temperature rise well under control in normal driving and help with recovery after a pull. We haven't seen them act as a restriction at highway speeds in use. The fans are two 11" Spal units that are very efficient and are minimally restrictive to the airflow at cruising speeds.
Unfortunately no. The inlet angle is much different on the Odin head unit used in the Loki kit. We include an intake tube designed for this significantly different angle.
Nice information. What is the time on pass for Odin since the Loki is in the 10's? also, what mods internally should be made to maintain a long-time working system for both? I am glad VMP gives us the educational vids. Great practice guys!
We have multiple folks deep in the 9s pretty easily. It's hard to say exactly what just the kit will do, as most folks who opt for Odin also opt for a series of other modifications that all add up to good power. Out of the box, Odin is good for another 50-100rwhp depending on the specific car and quality of pump gas. Where Odin really pays off is the ability to go further with a fuel system.
Furthermore, there's even faster cars that have built engines and transmissions with Odin, such as Chuck's '19 GT that makes right at 1100rwhp and should go deep 8s.

Hey Shawn! This plate is machined specifically to the stock throttle body, as that's how we've spec'd this kit based on the expected boost/restriction of the stock throttle body and intake tract.
Is there some kind of tuner kit version of Loki that can add certain Odin parts? I wouldn't mind the Loki kit with the Odin heat exchanger but without the injectors or tuning. Adding the throttle body, BAP and CAI could still be easily later not to mention i would want to start out with 1000cc injectors for room to grow later.
We don't have one listed as it's not typical to how these kits are sold. Shoot us an email to sales@vmpperformance.com or give us a call at the shop this coming week and we can discuss what you're looking to accomplish.
Can you run a loki supercharger with catalytic converters? They say catalytic converters melt with high hp forced induction and "free flowing" long tube headers aren't being made anymore.
Yes, you can. In our testing on Chuck's '19 GT, all factory emissions equipment was in place for the 10.06 pass at 140mph running a Loki supercharger kit. The Loki kit was designed specifically for folks who wanted stock/close to stock driving characteristics with an added boost in power.
Loki is going to get close, but not quite to 700. Not as configured. But, it will have the room to grow with upgrading to the Odin components later if you'd like. We see most Loki cars land around 650ish, maybe a touch more. If your goals are well over 700, we'd normally suggest Odin and a return style fuel system as you're pushing the limits of 93 Octane in the 700s.
Both superchargers use the 2.65l TVS rotor set. The Odin's original purpose was to adapt the Gen3R's technology to the 18+ Mustang and F-150 platforms, as the addition of direct injection to the Gen 3 Coyote engine created clearance issues for the Gen3R's lower intake manifold. Once the Odin was released, people liked the aesthetic so much that we retrofitted it's kit availability back to virtually all Coyote vehicles. As for performance differences, on pump 93 Octane, both supercharger kits will perform very similarly. When turned all the way up, the Odin will have a slight advantage on IATs out of the box, but we offer some upgraded componentry that would help close that gap between the Odin and Gen3R. Both are very capable units!

The comment I was looking for. They just used Loki/Odin which is the same as stage 1/stage 2 in a sense. They were trying to be creative. Should have saved the name Loki for the next gen of this blower. So yes, marketing team fail! Get your shit together!
