    Suspension terms and descriptions
    SPUA leaf SPrings mounted Under Axle. All sj413 were factory sprung under.
    SPOA Over Axle. The most common lift done.
    OTT over the top steering kit
    a tie rod and drag link raised higher as the axle is pushed away from frame. OTT can be a DIY Mercedes arms, stock tie rod and drag link kit. To a Heavy Cast machined steel arm on both knuckles and 1 ton ball joints.
    STICTION when spring eye bushings are squeezed so tight between wings/shoes/shackles/missing links that the shackle can not move. Suspension is rigid. Car will lean one way or the other depending on which direction you turn and the body won’t come back to level by itself.
    Jeep Wrangler YJ leaf springs 2.5” wide requiring wider shackles, shoes and 7” longer requiring relocation methods.
    WINGS The 4 pair of plates under frame that accept the big eye of stock style leaf springs.
    SHOES A wider bracket usually welded onto wings to accept a wider leaf spring. Also relocated big eye lower and farther back from factory leaf spring location.
    MISSING LINK A folding lever (fulcrum pivot) that increases droop by changing a 3 point angle into a 3 point straight line, while relocating longer spring.
    MISSING LINK STOP various methods used by different designers. Non metal to metal stops make far less noise.
    4 Link A double triangulated system using 2 longer lower “links”. 2 shorter upper “links”. A good design will have minimum squat, minimum axle arc movement (dif moving out of center position), minimum axle creep (tire moving forward as it creeps up and forward).
    3 Link A system consists of 2 lower and a sideways panhard. Lower links have fixed uppers on them going to top of axle for camber. Some people also consider this a 2 link when using only
    1 lower and 1 attached upper to axle for camber. Panhard bars introduce more axle arc but reduces axle creep.
    1Link A one rotating pivot attached to the axle ends with a Panard. Axle can be fixed or have adjustable short uppers for camber.
    POGOTRAC Only one in the world on the quinea pig. Incorporates limit strap as bump stop. Has Zero axle arc movement (dif stays centered) and zero axle creep.

      Nice
      Planing to start on my samurai this year
      It ran when I parked it
      It was a guys daily driver
      He sold it to me at a sad time ..
      He needed some cash to go see his mother …😢 and he would not allow me to just buy his plane tickets… this was happening due to
      He found out he had stage 4 cancer … he was a good guy a great guy.. well ..
      And didn’t make it …😢 sad..
      The promise was he would get the rig back free if he could win the cancer battle… I never touched the rig since he parked it in my yard… other than clean the snow off the canvas top…. Well it’s time for my adopted daughter to start driving and she wants to drive the dirt roads in our remote area of Alaska and learn to drive the stick!!! She just loved this guy …. He worked at our campground his last summer and they became buddies. She was like 11 years old at the time … now she’s 15 and it’s time for the rig to get going … Hope to use your services getting this rig up and goin..

    I live in Georgia and I recently took my Sidekick to Florida to Extreme Zukes to have some work done and they are awesome! I asked them about a custom bumper that holds a winch and Cody said that they get them from you and i said awesome because I know you from your videos and that would be great so you can expect an order from them for me. And thank you. I will be needing some more things that you may be able to help me with so again I appreciate everything you do, keep up the great work.

    Thanks Myron great detailed explanation as always now maybe it’s already been asked but why do so many Samurai owners have a 1/2 - 3/4” lean towards the passenger side? I have 5 pack yjs on the rear and my rig is slightly lower on the ps rear. I have swapped the rear springs and no change so Is it because the
    t -case, fuel tank, spare tire and battery are all on that side? Will 6 pack crowns lessen the lean? I also am running Dave’s shortened yjs on the front to give the full picture.

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Believe it or not it’s mostly stiction from to the shackle bolts to tight. If you go to the top of the door and pull down either side the car should rebound exactly where it was. If the. Kits are to tight the bushings being squeezed for instance will cause them to lean. Also depends on which way the front tires are turned as the Ackerman steering angle tilts the front tires. If you been in ZOA for awhile you might remember Enno. His rig would stay hi or low depending on which way he turned by 6”. He had to crank those shackles together, lol.

    • @robert1408
      @robert1408 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! will do the test and check and loosen them to see if they rebound better. Met Enno once and he was a big boy from what I remember that probably liked everything guten tite! lol

    Man. I'm trying to get ahold of ya. An make the winter order. Need to Trans mount Z bar you made? The hinge, It's not on the Canada site.. but I'll take a twin stick and a brass shifter bushing too

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Never made a different trans mount. Trailtough makes one that hinges. Brass shift in t-case and twin sticks are not compatible. Twin sticks eliminate brass shift sheet. Call us direct if Zuksoffroadcanada.ca doesn’t have in inventory.

      @Zuksoffroad I did see one out there, thank you brother for the right directions. I have the twin shifter coming for tcase, no brass insert installed or ordered good to no there is no need for it now.
      I am looking for the 5 speed Trans brass bushing. I still have a red rubber on my stick. I can't keep it in gear an have 2 hands on the wheel with this situation. Not offroad anyway

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As you know adapters already exist for 2wd transmissions and that’s what people are using now. Ultimately, it has to work for now with our t-cases. Or until I make mine.

    im not extreme offroading but i still want it softer without adding hight... how bad would it be to remove 1 leaf out of the pack?

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s normal to do that but you obviously will not have an old fatigued spring last long. Newer springs both short and narrow wide and long have weight ratings. Bolt on samurai has different lengths and squash weight. Front from rears. So you can take and make spring packs different by using the front eye leaf up front and maybe removing one leaf but replacing it with a shorter. That way they support each other. What you don’t want is a long spring with no support leaf under it.

      Can you do me a favor and look at your shackle and frame bushings? Are they buldging out from you tightening the bolts to tight? Not to worry if you have factory shackles as they stop compressing bushings when tight. If you have aftermarket shackles and they are tight you made sticktion. Shackles should pivot on frame and lead springs with normal push pull of swinging a hammer.

    Thanks for all the info. Heck with a RUF. What aftermarket leave springs do you recommended front and rear. I notice they have heavy duty and different leaf packs. Hard top, spring under and 29x8.50 TSLs. Just off-road. I was thinking the YJ would be long with small tires and spring over.

    • @toddcoon1730
      @toddcoon1730 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ex. Crown Automotive heavy 4 pack up front and heavy 6 pack rear. Could you run standard 4 pack up front and heavy 4 pack front springs in the rear for more flex? Thanks!

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I only recommend the same YJ spring which are rears. I recommend different packs when using old worn out YJ springs compared to new YJ springs. New 4-5-6 pack all are rated at 800lbs or about that for rears and 1200 lbs for front YJs. The issue is they are the same length. You don’t know until you put weight on them what you got with used.
      Used five pack under the driver front four around the other 3 corners. I haven’t done a used YJ spring suspension for over a decade. I got tired of the complaining of my car leans left or right (fatigued springs)

    • @toddcoon1730
