@@Wheely55 Id like for 1 of these youtubes I follow to teach us a work a day in their language, I follow a few in Japan and asked them to teach people 1 new word a day but nobody wants to do it, I learned French from a friend in highschool who thought me a new word every day and after 2 months I could speak and understand it enough to talk to his family and friends.

I love Ivan's generosity of spirit, his appetite for life, and his zest for adventure. I also love this type of video, where the little moments of life in exile show Ivan and Evalina doing relatively prosaic things. Internet squared away, Thai driving license squared away, who can predict what's ahead?

That was a Songtow Ivan not a Tuk tuk, they just drive an arranged route with a fixed price, you just flag them down and press the bell when you want to get off, very cheap to be fair.
I remember taking a tuk tuk back to the airport. We negotiated a price to the airport with the driver. He didn't drive us all the way there and dropped us off at some other tuk tuk stand and said his brother would drive us the rest of the way. We had heard of this scam from other expats, that the second driver would try to charge us again... so as we approached the airport, we had our backpacks on as we pulled up. Once it stopped far from the main entrance by the police, we jumped off and ran into the airport past the police and didn't look back... lots of scams... those Nike are probably fake, that's why they said no recording... 😅
Indeed, that’s why both tourists and locals prefer calling a Grab taxi via the mobile app. It’s more reliable and can reduce the risk of scams, although it doesn’t guarantee being 100% scam-free.
@@weekdaycycling No kidding! Ivan got charged for the taxi just for ordering it‽ That's a blatent avenue for scamming!! He hadn't even entered the taxi yet! 😬
I will stick to the Philippines
Always catch the RED BUS instead of taxi. At 40 baht they are much cheaper and will go directly to the posted direction. Those Taxi and Tuk Tuk are on a commission to get customers to go to tourist traps.

Gotta say I'm impressed with the camera. On a lot of the walking shots, I sometimes I feel like I'm there myself. Detail, perspective and color are spot on. Looking at the cabling mess I see on the poles in the streets, I'm surprised your internet speed is that high. I live in the country (Chardon, Ohio) and have Windstream Kinetic gigabit fiber which is always just a bit over 750Mbps down and up but I have an ancient router.

If you’re looking for European style bedding go to an IKEA in Thailand. A blanket with a cover is called a duvet. Sometimes it’s necessary to purchase the cover separately. Duvets are not commonly sold in the USA or Canada. In North America blankets for the bed are called comforters. To protect the comforter a “top sheet” is used between your body and the comforter.
We use lots of duvets here in Ottawa, CAN. It’s warm and cool at the same time. IKEA is big here. We have cold winters!❤
Are you serious? Of course they’re sold in USA. Every Macys and Target and Walmart sells duvets and duvet covers. What country are U from?
@@war-painter Can you read? I wrote they are not commonly sold here. That means they aren’t available everywhere, like Walmart and other department stores. You need to seek them out in places like IKEA. Learn to read before jumping all over with negativity.

The story of the Roti Lady is a long one. I'll keep it short:
She lost her standing spot; she was devastated; a TH-camr came by; she told her story; she has a child and works hard every day to support her child; the story was shared by other TH-camrs; Donations were collected and she was able to buy a new standing spot; She became a TH-camr herself and now she is famous worldwide...
Ivan kept saying Roti... what on earth is Roti? I've never heard of that before. It sounds like Rottweiler or something, from the name alone.
@@scbtripwireRoti means chapati , Indian Nan or you can say round shaped Indian bread baked on a hot plate (called Tawa) or Tandoor or even a flat hot stone.

I lived in Thailand for 25 years, never had food poisoning from street food but did from three or four restaurants! I ate a lot of street food!
I’ve eaten street foot all over India, Morocco, Laos, Cambodia, North Thailand, Europe, UK, USA, Japan and only got food poisoning once at Overtons of St James in London (inside the restaurant).
@@war-painter 🤣Yes, same here, had street food in loads of countries, never had a problem, my two worst food poisonings were in a 5 star hotel in Venice and a Holiday Inn in Bombay!

The seatbelt ticket from a camera is absolutely crazy. I’ve heard of red light and speed cameras here in US but never a seatbelt.

Ivan if you get a vehicle please tour the real interior of Thailand. It’s like Russia but always hot. Poverty …. folks are just scratching a living. The food is great and I’ll guarantee you will loose more weight than you intake. Wet wipes are a must.
Poor ?! It's all due to the hot and humid weather. Your needs for daily life are too few due to hot weather. During old times most of the people in rural regions of the southern hemisphere had used one or two clothing eg as you may have seen Mahatma Gandhi. Water and vegetation were there in bulk due to humidity, most people had lived outside lives and needed roofs only during short rainy & winter seasons. Their needs were very minimal. On the contrary people of the cold, snowy regions need too many things to survive.
Hey Ivan, glad things seem to be going well, even with minor hiccups.
As far as buying things there, unless you need some specific item, you're often better going to the open markets to get things, rather than the shopping malls. You just have to keep the Caveat emptor attitude. Beware of scams, counterfeits, etc. Though sometimes the imitations are better than the originals, or just as good.
I know in Russia you could do everything through your phone. Tip, pay, etc, just scan a code, or enter a number and everything was securely transferred. I've heard that in Thailand, it's probably better to have cash though I know a pain in the butt. They just don't have the depth of banking that other parts of the world do. It is slowly changing

Besides the so called Baht taxis (10 Baht) the Bolt taxis are the best alternativ here in Thailand when considering taking a taxi, cheaper then Grab and more reliable.
