This is a daily vlog of a Russian in Russia.
Life From Russia Inside Russia
This mechanic guy is one of the most intelligent, bright and welcoming people in Thailand
Yes he wouldn't that in the states. He would be told to go sit down, with an expensive bill at the end. I mean for $162 USD, he got a sweet deal. I'm really shocked about the customer care in Thailand.
So you know everyone in Thailand I guess?
@@kristofferbjrnstad3906We’ve seen him on a previous video.
Incredible. I noticed it was not a head gasket. Got mislead. Certainly good customer care. To repair the ECU is brilliant. Be a new ECU in UK.
@@kristofferbjrnstad3906 The mechanic was on a previous video and that’s how I would describe him, too
At least you apologized. The mechanic seems like a nice guy
You should call it Lemon Drop, cause you're gonna be dropping money into it regularly! 😂
You made the mechanic a TH-cam star. You should help him start a channel. I would have 46 garage work on my car. Damn, 3100 bhat is US $85.
No doubt. Would love to watch that mechanic work on all sorts of crazy twai builds. He would probably make more on the videos than working on the actual cars.
Yah , they got some sweet rides to showcase to the world .
Yeah in the United States that would probably cost maybe 400 to $500 just for the labor
You said It ! the Dude is Magnanimous and Would Kill in the You Tuber's game.
It’s actually mind boggling how good of a price that is.
Ivan I love that you go up to the owner mechanic of the auto shop and apologize for missing him try to shake your hand the day before this says a lot about your character. Your honesty and sincerity are contagious.
This is not a head gasket, it’s called “valve cover gasket”. Head gasket is the part between the cylinder head and the short block.
The leaky head gasket is one of the main reasons a turbo runs hot and is hard to diagnose unless you are a experienced mechanic
@@Docthewrench to be fair I don't see him buy tools, torque wrench etc while in Thailand, I wouldn't be getting too settled in
@@Docthewrench the grass is not always greener on the other side, this poor kid, his eyes r hungrier than his stomach.
What I was going to say.
@@BlueLineSwineExposer He is ri9ght. What Ivan is referring to as the head gasket is actually the 'valve' cover gasket.
Rocker gasket, not head gasket, that would be a complete disaster if it was the head gasket.
That's coming up soon.
@@mikeholley2035 I wouldn’t be surprised.
But do far it’s costing next to nothing to repair. Luckily.
@@mikeholley2035 Turbo will cause, if not already. Two turbos, find another buyer😅
Not a complete disaster, a disaster is a cracked block.
@@mikeholley2035 LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
Ivan, save every receipt. It will help you get more money when you sell it. Two years ago, our Suburban got totaled while parked at the mechanics, just waiting for a water pump & inspection. A cattle hauler wrecked in the rain and destroyed ours and some other vehicles. We got the insurance offer much higher because I kept all the parts & repair receipts and we got within $3,000 of what we paid for it in 2008. Rob had just taught our daughter to change the right wheel assembly and disk brake & our son did the left. I was so proud he taught them and made them do it all themselves. It gave them that wonderful feeling of accomplishment.
We enjoyed your video. Love & hugs to you both.
At these prices it is cheaper for me to ship the car from north America to Thailand and back for repairs
😂 🍺
Just go to a mechanics class .. it’s easy to do mechanics on car nowadays .. before there were many ajdustement .. now replace part and that’s it
80$ - 3500 Baht ? What a great deal. Here they would have opened the trunk and asked for the first 50$ before telling you anything.
I like how the Garage 46 guys are working, responsive and willing to help.
Good place for sure how they had welcomed you from the very beginning.
I still wonder about the seller who said nothing about "missing maintenance" and issues.
Timing belt is usually a bigger deal on most western card, but might be cheaper on this.
It's $80, not 80$.
@@HansDelbruck53 - Still wrong - 3,500 Thai baht = approximately $85. Formula: Divide 3,500 by 36.5 (the Thai baht to US dollar conversion is currently 36.5 baht equals US$ 1.00) which equals $84.93
Ivan never asked about maintenance. Who buys a used car without a test drive and mechanic check. Ivan does. !!!
@@DonVideoGuy007 I was remarking on the placement of the dollar sign, not the exchange rate.
@@HansDelbruck53 depends on the culture and language. Some put the dollar sign after the number.

Boring cars are sensible cars. As you’ve learned the hard way, boy racer cars are Lemons and a waste of money.
All those repairs he just made, cost less than $200 usd. In Canada, it would cost close to $2k ca. today.
I still have a 2000 Celica GT that runs great. Although I don't drive it that much, only 170k miles.
In Thailand a toy racer project looks like fun. 230 USD for all those fixes. It’s literally nothing.
It’s not a bad car,he just got those repairs really cheaply, and he found the best mechanic, and that’s everything.
Well, this dude just making some content the only way he knows how and if he got a decent toyota vios I don't think that many of you would boost your egos in comments telling him "he bought a lemon... I told you so"))) The only rthing he does here is trying to attract some views.. you can tell this from everything he does or has.
Ivan I'm glad you found the 46 Garage for your repairs. They seem honest and reasonably priced. Hope now you'll be good to go! Look forward to seeing more of Thailand soon! ❤❤❤😊
Everything costs THB3000. Four new tyres? 3k. Refill the wiper fluid? 3k.
He spent less than $200 USD for all that work. We are the ones being robbed.
Real men apologize. Impressive even when not intentional. Great video.
46 Garage seem like legit guys. Motor heads, petrol heads whatever you want to call it. Welcoming and knowledgeable. Good find.
I had a 1959 Austin. Same thing. Endless issues. End your pain Ivan. Get rid of it.
If it looks like a lemon, breaks down like a lemon and smells like a lemon - it sure is a lemon.
What Ivan had done is basic maintenance.

Best purchase to get to know all mechanic shops around towns!
Never ask a mechanic who will make money from your shitbox if its worth it.. of course its worthit... to him
I wouldn't trust those mechanics with a shit box
I have a female friend in her mid 60's that keeps her hair long like she did when she was 20. It's not great hair. But for her, it's a semblance back to her youth. Anyway, she justifies it by claiming her hair stylist would never let her cut it. Of course, he makes a fortune trying to maintain her frizzy hair.
Also never talk about other shops and every shop that he goes to is the best yet.
He's got a lot to learn
You are making good progress on getting your can ready for prolonged road trips and I hope it doesn't let you down anymore. Hang in there Ivan and keep making your videos - quite enjoyable to watch!😊❤
if you google that car its the most troublesome car ever produced by nissan.
It's a mod but you can bet it was street rodded the piss out of it
3,500 bath is very fair, I was expecting 3 times that amount even knowing it was Thailand.
Where I live that would cost about 15x 3500 Bath. Probably more, it's crazy out there.
Awesome video Ivan, I'm loving watching the progression of the car and you fixing all these problems with it.
It seems like you practically had to rebuild the car engine😂. I can’t wait for you to get it on the open road and show us more of Thailand. My youngest brother and his gf are currently spending some time in Thailand before they go to work in New Zealand for a year. They were close to Pattaya at one stage, I told him to look out for your yellow Cefiro and to say hello if he saw you! 😂😂😂😜🤪
If Ivan had moved to the USA he would have had a heart attack with how expensive it is to repair a vehicle. I don't know what the comparisons are with Russia, but I have known many immigrants who received a huge cultural shock when it came time to repair their car. With those cheap prices in Thailand he could literally rebuild the whole thing, with a new paint job, for an extra $5k USD. That's freak'n awesome!
Great video also I watched you on Starsky live stream had a good time keep up the good work and good luck with the lemon hopefully it gets fixed

Saw your great video with Starsky. Two guys I've been watching have now met each other. How cool that was when I saw you two together.
Great stuff Ivan, so glad you found 46 garage, if you didn’t breakdown you might not have found them and they’re good at the work you do and they don’t rip you off. Well done mate, all the people saying you bought a lemon are wrong because the work has been done ata very good price. You’re nearly ready for a road trip my friend, and making friend’s along the way.
If you're changing the timing belt, change the water pump while youre at it. Saves pulling it all apart again and paying twice. 👍
Car content is what brought me to the channel. Two months ago I followed you before you sold you're Cadillac. I have one here in the states. I poopooed you for getting the boy-racer but its all good. Great haircut by the way I'm jealous!
LOL my landlady once said about my yellow Triumph TR7 that she saw me more times under it or with the hood up repairing things than ever driving it so I can only say live and learn
Hey buddy, keep up the good work. You are referring to the valve covers as heads, the valve cover gasket is what’s getting replaced not the head gasket. Just wanted to let you know for your own knowledge
Glad you found a decent and trustworthy shop to get your car worked on. This is a must owning an older car. All the best to Evelina and you my friend. Less than $2k for that old Benz 😮!
This is your learning curve Ivan. Cars can be the biggest pain and cost a lot of money. It looks like you have a good mechanic and that is important these days
LOVING the Car content! THAT IS WHY I am here! 😉👍
Better get new seats 30 years of farts been blowing into the cousion
Most likely stuff with dry manure they do that in South East Asia. Do the same in Mexico and Latin America
@@berlinkozyreva Better than the fresh stuff !
I wouldn't have done anything else to thecar until i was absolutely sure the overheating issue has been resolved. You could be throwing money into the toilet by working on peripheral issues if the overheating issue is due to something major eg cracked head or head gasket. I recommend you put the car for a long drive on a hot day to really test the cooling system to ensure all is ok before spending a baht more on it.
$85.67 USD that’s very cheap. I personally charge $130 an hour to work on vehicles.
Sylvan Silverstars are very good headlights.
Crazy seeing three guys working on one car. You never see that in the US. One job, one mechanic.
no, Sylvania or Hella LEDs is where its at.
Another good video Ivan. You are the new Russian and you show how good is Thailand and its people. Bless you from Canada.
Term "new russian" has a bad connotation in russia. It means criminals who take power after communism collapsed.
I believe many of us told you 2nd / 3rd hand drift and race cars are black holes money pits.
Can't wait for your trip
Loved this video, Ivan. I’m not a car person, yet I am really enjoying this content. So glad you’re having fun fixing up your car.
The lemon smells like lemon now. Awesome.
Finally you get some Ice coffee - that I know of at least. The Thai Tea 711 (7) is also one of the things I miss most.
Also, get a clear that has an enzyme that will remove organic compounds. If you can’t find one in the car shop or furniture shop you can get them from a pet store. They market to remove cat and dog pee. The floor / carpet one is best.
Scratching that freshly welded muffler on the concrete floor - priceless. 😁
He's going to need another new muffler soon
Surely the wobbling steering wheel is the balancing !? And you've still not replaced the intercooler, do those two and should have a perfect car !! 🇬🇧🇬🇧😁🚗🚗
We are impressed that you know so much about cars and doing a good job getting it fixed 🐱

Car content is awesome! Also, it's a bargain getting cars fixed in Thailand. Who knew? Glad that you're doing well!
A bit of advise take it or leave it.
You've invited us on this journey. Coming to América, Escape from Russia and now Surviving Thailand.
Every good TH-cam channel has characters.
Evalina's a character. Can you dedícate a segment to her on her journey to learning English? Itll be a great addition to the channel. Itll be good to hear her opinion about Thailand and other things.
It would be funny and rewarding to her and the viewers to watch and see her vocabulary grow.
Perhaps Evelina doesn’t want to be a character, and that’s fair enough. She doesn’t want slimy guys perving at her, and I don’t blame her, because I find it objectionable and I’m a guy.
@@SweetlyfeI was once from Russia. And living in the United States now 15 years strong.. I'm also female. Only a true perv would say that. Get your mind out the gutter.
If she didnt wanna be on camera Ivan would have edited her out ever since.
I'm here for the journey. What are you here for?
I am almost a 100% sure the parents of Ivan and Evalina voted for this Maniac to become President. And now they're fleeing Russia for the West.
He needs more subscribers for his channel to succeed.
The more ingredients the better the flavor.
@@SweetlyfeI was thinking the same thing.
Yeah the head gasket was my first early comments. I hope the engine head is not warped, otherwise it might have to be machined down. Obviously there were a lot of maintenance issues. This is to be expected. Next time, I suggest get a qualified mechanic to check the vehicle first before you buy.
If you get timing belt change, "change water pump". It shouldn't cost you a lot more And it would be better than changing a dumb thermostat. If your AC and Heater working, then it isn't the thermostat. Your twin turbos will be thanking you
The other reason to change the water pump when replacing the timing belt is that you have already paid for most of the labor necessary to get to where the water pump lives on most timing belt equipped engines and the pump itself usually isn’t crazy expensive. For the same reason replace any idler pulleys and the belt tensioner if you’re planning to keep the car for any length of time.
So the lemon now smells like a lemon! Ivan good luck with your car.
Ivan, don't take that car onto a highway otherwise you'll end up on foot in the middle of nowhere, in a deserted place. You can only travel on a highway in a reliable car and this lemon is not reliable.
Your lemon after your repairs will be a gem!
I don't know what's worse, Ivan's car, a boat, or a used BMW. They all bleed the money out of you!!! 🤣🤣
This car is ok. It's being repaired. Each day its better.
You can put underlay packing under the floor cover. And boot cover . Rear seat cover in boot. That will stop noise by another 20 %. Just be care full around pedals and excellerator.
Let's check this car out some more. I am interested.
Always enjoy watching.😊❤️
Sorry. I meant to add that I kinda get why he bought that piece of junk. He needs content for his TH-cam channel and this provides a bit of extra drama for everyone to watch. If that’s what he’s doing, i applaud him, provided he bought the car cheap enough. I would love to know what he paid for that thing and all the repairs in U.S. dollars. Anyway, I hope it turns out well for him.
You might have to remove the seats and clean them that way, if the current methods don't work. The seats might need to be completely flushed using a tap water hose and disinfectant and soap or detergent.
Otherwise see what the cost is to buy some new seats.
When installing spark plugs they are soposed to use a tool to insure proper gap distance for optimal efficiency and performance. The one spark plug I saw the guy put in he simply used a ratchet and put hand tight, you can get away with that but it’s not correct way to do it. Anyone who knows can confirm what I’m saying all professionals use correct tool for right gap in the spark plug.
Great video!
It looks like I can ship my car to thailand get it repaired and ship it back and still save money

Motor from a different company than the car?
Sounds like you're giving yourself every opportunity to spend a lot more than you would with a car that is compatible with it's basic running gear, and still not winding up with something that has everything working.
Good luck.
Watch d you with Starsky…. I just love his m and h is so smart!!😊
I googled 9000 Baht which came up around $245. USD. Cost would be way more expensive anywhere in the USA. The 46 Garage seem like a good place, they seem knowledgable , friendly and reasonably priced. Expect to pay more if you make it to the USA.
In the U.S. this model was known as Nissan Maxima.
They make mini automotive vacuums that have an upholstery cleaners that would shampoo and rinse those seats like new and pull all the dirt and odors out of them, I bought one called a bissel
Ivan you are a gentleman
I think you got several good deals. In the US, it would be much-much more.
Hopefully this stabilizes the car and you can just enjoy it.

In the US for a Toyota ECU repair prices start at 10,000 baht, just to let you know Ivan. Average wheel alignment for Toyota at Dealer: $200USD = 7300 Baht. Thank you Ivan for planning to get the thermostat change. I will rest easier tonight. But in all truth, do you even really need on in Thailand. Just ask the good guys over there on their opinion. After you get all this done, don't forget to check your oil a week later. If you have a white looking streaks, that means your water/antifreeze is getting passed the head gasket due to a leak. Real bad problem with Turbos with aluminum engines if they have ever overheated. Also, there may be some warpage on the head itself, again, aluminum heads and blocks are bad for that.
Great prices on the repairs
46 garage must be the best and the workers seems to have a lot of fun. How about the termostat? And the vented hood? Or is it bonnet?😆😆
For the prices you are paying for repairs you can definitely get that entire engine overhauled and souped up more for a good price it seems parts are easy to get and cheap and the best part the labor is really cheap

My friend, if you keep the lemon, you may need to just put a cot in the 46 garage! 😂
Car content is perfect. Was the reason I subscribed, when you was beating on Lada's 😂
If your yellow Nissan is a keeper, then I couldn't agree more that swapping transmission from a pos automatic to manual to be the way to go. It can be done easily. Years ago we got the wife a VW Golf GTI that had an auto tranny. Naturally being allergic to automatics, the very first thing we did was swapping the transmission with a same year Jetta that we bought for dirt cheap as it had engine problems. She wouldn't even drive the car once before the swap was done, one couldn't pay her enough to drive a car without a clutch. That Jetta was the perfect donor car for the job. A mechanic friend did the swap and one couldn't tell that her GTI was once born with an auto tranny, making it from a cripplemobile into a proper sportscar (even the cluster was replaced, so she didn't have to look at those dumb letters like D and what have you).
Hopefully your tranny will last you a while longer before you take this somewhat costly step. Cheers and thanks for sharing your experience with your new ride.
$130 Canadian dollars for all that work. That's it, I'm moving to Thailand. Okay correct that. That's just for the head gasket work, etc. Add 200 more dollars for everything else. Here it would have cost $3000+
Ivan, this guy in the car shop you were talking to is a real car enthusiast, you can see his eyes light up when you talk about cars with him.
if your wheels continue to wobble they need tire-wheel balancing. front end alignment is needed if the car tries to steer right or left with hands off the steering wheel.
Yes wobble is wheel alignment with the weights. 100%.
